Adventure games. Re: thanks all! it works :)
If you're running a PC emulator or card you could try out ZZT. http://zzt.the-underdogs.org/ The whole orginal package has been released as freeware. Since it uses ANSI graphics it's sorta like a fancy nethack type single player game. The site there has tons of different worlds to download and the game includes an editor and Object Oriented Programming to create your own. Run through the Tour and Demo worlds first. I don't recall how well it runs under Win 9x, but with XP it runs at perfect speed in a window! (9x can't do _that_!) :) Or you could simply create a DOS only drive image for your emulator or PC card. Hmmm, I wonder how tough it would be to clone ZZT on the Mac so it can use the same world and other fles as the DOS version? ;) It would be like the clone of Bolo for Windows and Linux! www.winbolo.com for both versions. AFAIK, Win/LinBolo still doesn't network with Mac Bolo due to the Mac version using UDP on a ring topology and the Win/Lin versions using TCP/IP with a client/server method. If someone could code a server app for Mac Bolo to translate between the two systems = Work it harder make it better do it faster makes us stronger. More than ever hour after our work is never over. For a person who plays Quake, the perfect name for a Quad(ra) would be Damage. ;) 'Course Quake won't actually run on a Quadra... An Ethernet to LocalTalk is better in general as it doesn't require a given machine to be on (in the case of a network of more than two machines) and can be located wherever it's convienent. Hmmm. Did some searching and there's one USB dongle that will work with LocalTalk printers, but probably won't do networking. Also found this http://www.asante.com/products/adapters/asantetalk/index.html and this http://www.proxim.com/products/all/macadapter/pn559/index.html which jack into the Ethernet port and do support both LocalTalk printers and LocalTalk networking. Re: IIci and parity memory
Subject: IIci and parity memory Date: Fri, 20 Sep 2002 12:45:11 +0200 (CEST) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Marco van de Voort) I hear there are two versions of the IIci, one requiring parity memory, and one not. I seem to have the non-parity one (since non-parity work), but am wondering if parity simms will work in this one, and if so, if that is global, or per bank. (this because 30-pins simms with parity are easier to find 2nd hand for large sizes) Parity SIMMs will work fine in a non-parity IIci. The extra bit will just be ignored. john -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... The computer's software would have to deal with AppleTalk on both the Ethernet and LocalTalk. LocalTalk hardware is more complicated than a simple serial adapter. You would probably need enough computing power in the adapter to transfer a several LT packets. Not that hard but it does mean you couldn't use an existing USB to serial adapter.
