Stop using shoddily written Microsloth programs?? Either that or restart your

Yes. According to my dictionary, Heathen means anyone who hasn't
readily accepted one of the 3 major Religions: Christianity, Judaism,
 Islam.

So, Heathen would include anyone who has no Religion (for whatever
reason) As well as anyone who has chosen any of the other Religions,
 Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, Shinto, etc.

Thus: A statement like, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Heathen
 alike... Would literally mean, Everyone.

I was sitting here wondering why my unsub request still hasn't been processed

You only quoted the definition that was convenient to your point Andrew. The
2nd definition listed in the Oxford dictionary is:

Heathen: An unenlightened person, one regarded as lacking culture or moral
principles.

That's the one that set me off. Not because I had to look it up to understand
(I knew the definition years ago), but because that is the meaning that most
Christians point at others.

Gregg's post read, We of every Nation, Race, and Religion --
Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, and heathen. This is in no way a

simply inclusion in the list of ideals that he gave. Perhaps you

Your knee-jerk reaction to the mere presence of the word makes me

As with Gregg's message there was no intent to insult. You made
the choice on your own to be insulted.

Bullshit.

Here’s the real deal Steve. Let this put this OT stuff to rest ok?

With war looming, Atheists and believers of alternate faiths are sucking on the
candlelight vigils, prayer circles and yet another rendition of “God Bless
America” and trying to keep our mouths closed as people blame other religions
(Islam) for these attacks. In trying times like these, people always look for
calm in their religious symbols, be it God, Allah, Buddha or Joe Montana. I don’t
blame people for the comfort faith brings them. It's the exclusion of all things
secular that pisses me off, especially when it seems many flag-wavers and
head-bowers now are equating patriotism with piety. That just isn’t the case.
More than 15% of our society (and this list) are Atheists. Similar to the amount
of people that use Mac’s versus PC’s. If a PC user was ranting over and over
about their operating system it would piss you off. I guarantee that. Think
about the way you feel when some PC geek is telling you how great their new AMD
Athlon processor is. Ok. That’s how I feel. That’s why the term “heathen”
offended me. All the heartfelt God Bless America renditions, all the scripture
read at vigils makes us that are non religious feel alienated. Where are we to
grieve? Just when it seems like a group of people is gathering together to
grieve for this horrible situation OUT COME THE BIBLES. And every time a Jerry
Falwell type suggests the faithless had a hand in the tragedy, I feel that my
patriotism is under attack. If prayer works for people, great, do it, but don't
exclude us atheists in the grand scheme. We're American and just as patriotic as
anyone. I served in combat twice for this country, and I feel that in the eyes of
many I am nothing, because I am not a Christian. I feel the hatred. It bothers
me.

I opened it up to see what treasures were inside. Turns out it is an
LCII with an LCIII lid. It's a very odd LCII though.

First of all, it's got an FPU socket where the solder pads normally are.

On each of the four ROM chips, there is a sticker that reads:

 Foster Farms ROM
 1.0F2 01/29/92
 HH 99C583
 Apple Confidential
 ©Apple 1983-92

In the top left of the board where it normally says Macintosh LCII
 it says Foster Farms

On the bottom of the case where the label should be, there is an
 orange sticker that says:

This device has not been approved by the Federal Communications
Commision. [sic] This is not, and may not be, offered for sale or
lease, or sold or leased until the approval of the FCC has been
 obtained.

Also, the fan looks nonstandard, but I could be wrong about that.

I haven't tried booting it up yet. It's got an 80MB HD, but no floppy.

What the hell is this thing?

It's just a prototype. I have the Beirut Fix 200MP prototype 9500 here as
well as the SOMA 604. It's amazing what you can find at a garage sale.

The button on the monitor is on the left too. I bet the foto was mirrored...

My first thought when I saw the picture was Looks like a 7100 to me. The
photo being mirrored would explain this. :)

4400's have the words PowerPC just to the left of the floppy slot as well as
ventilation holes below the leading edge of the machine on the front. I doubt
this pic is one of a 4400.

If it were a 6100, you'd be able to clearly see the
   power button in that
   photo.

 Could have been erased.

Plus, the 6100 is a pizza box styled case,
   with the CD-ROM in the
center of the case. The one pictured is too tall for
   a 6100, and has a
CD-ROM beneath the floppy.

There is no CD in that picture. Check out the height
of the box vs the monitor. Look at the floppy and the
 form factor bulge.

I'm typing this on my 6100.
The machine on the photo definitely isn't one.
There is no power button. The 6100 doesn't have a line beneath the
floppy port, and the top side of the piece of front panel with the
floppy remains the same width, unlike the one on the photo.

 Performa 630 ? LC475 ?

I am making the statement...It's a performa 636 or another Mac with the same
form factor...like a 6200, in a mirrored photo. Note the curves near the feet,
and the seam that runs along the top. 7100's don't have that. LC 475's are too
thin. Definitely not a 6100 or a 4400. Has too be a 6200 or close to it.

It is not worth it. Throw into street now, or give it to your worst
enemy as a truce present. Horrid, horrid machines. We have several sitting
in the bunker here (the old computer graveyard) and no one liked them
when they were new, much less now. They do break down nicely, though, like
in trash compactors and steam presses. Good stress relievers.

As much as I hate to make a statement derogatory to the mac...I concur. Kill it.
Destroy it. Throw it off of a building. I'll send you a 7100 (cheap) if you need

another plan and would like some input.

I finally got a new cabinet, to house a few of my servers which didn't have
that luxury. I would like to test its efficiency and the temps of the Macs
inside. I know I could go out and buy a few 99¢ thermometers, but that is
too easy and defeating my purpose.

Are there any heat sensitive probes and software that are for the Mac? I
want to rig up something like they do in science classes in schools with the
TI graphing calculators and the little probes that plug in to them. Then I
can get an accurate digital reading and maybe print out a chart or graph or
 something.

I'm just interested to know if anyone has seen/heard of something like this
 for the Mac before.

 Many thanks,
 Sam

Most of that stuff is for PC's. Why not get a Thermo-couple and a meter. We do
it all the time at the comcrete lab. We shop at fisher-sceintific.
