The word for today is Coercivity.
The magnetic particles used on a High Density

used on a 720/800K diskette. The high density drive

particles' polarity to change. A 720/800K drive's

the polarity of high density disks.

So using high density means that the disks might go to brown?

Classic Battery

2001-07-27 Thread Steve Moody

This is one of the questions that leads to another.

I can't find the answer to these on the FAQ page.

   1) How do I get to the battery in a Macintosh Classic? I hope I
don't have to take the back off it. The FAQ has a link to batteries,
be the page doesn't explain how to change the battery.

   Which leads to:

   2) There is a small panel above the power switch. I removed it it
hope of finding the battery there, but instead find a bunch of knobs
and what looks somewhat like sound ports.

LCIII Memory

2001-07-22 Thread Steve Moody

I have an LCII that I recently bought to play with. I also got a
32MB SIMM to add memory to it. Now, I am confused. There are two
spots where I can put a SIMM. According to system specs at
apple.com, this machine is upgradable with only one SIMM. There is
also the option of adding memory for the video. I assume one is for
video. One SIMM slot is along the power supply. The other is along
the edged of the motherboard between the hard drive and floppy drive
cables. Which one is the right one to plug in my SIMM?

Or better yet, is there an electronic owner's manual available for the LCIII?
