Re: 2 solara questions
Yes, heroes in the front will take more damage, but there are some monsters, like sneaks, that will attack heroes in the back of the party, so against these monsters, you want to have someone who can take a lot of damage at the back of your party. Re: Building in solara and managing shops
You probably have to build another level onto your castle, another floor to add more space. If you look under the upgrades tab, you’ll find an option for that. You’ll probably have to spend either a bunch of gold or esper to do it, though. I haven’t used the manage shops thing yet, so can’t tell you about that one. App calledChime Squirrel - Recurring chime / alarm / timer to help you be more productive as an exercise reminder
I spend a lot of time on the computer or fiddling with my iPhone and am way too stationary. I have read articles recently about the value of just standing up every ten minutes or so to interrupt the sitting. It is hard to remember to just stop and stand up. Then I found a free app called Chime Squirrel - Recurring chime / alarm / timer to help you be more productive for my iPhone that you can set for any time interval. I set it for 15 minutes so every 15 minutes it chimes and I stand up for a bit. It is amazing to me how quickly the chimes follow one another when I am on the computer or using my iPhone. It also works in lock screen. It was completely VO friendly and you can set up the interval and how long you want the reminders to continue. I do have to press start on it each morning but it then chimes at the set interval for the number of hours I had specified. What I like about this app is that you don’t have to touch the phone each time it chimes. I tried an app called Moves but every time it reminded you you had to open the app and click “I did it”. That was a pain. After the information about the app which I am including I am also including the article about standing up. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chime-squirrel/id556415124 App description: Chime Squirrel - Recurring chime / alarm / timer to help you be more productive By Jernejcic Chime Squirrel is a little but powerful app that helps you remember to do repetitive tasks throughout the day, change up your exercise routines, and make you more productive. Set the chime intervals to any length you need, set it run for however long you want, then push the app to the background to get your reminders at the interval times of your choosing. One of the key features of Chime Squirrel is speed. It is designed to get you into the application and your chime quickly started so you can get back to your activities. Chime Squirrel is different from the other alarm applications because its alarm doesn't require you to turn it off; it's a chime, like a clock. It gives you a quick chime(sound/alarm), then goes quietly back to sleep on it's own, counting nuts until the next interval completes. FEATURES • Variable interval chimes present a highly customizable chime that is not limited to a single interval length^. (1 variable chime is included free, upgrade to Pro for unlimited interval chimes) • Special screen to quickly setup chimes. • Multiple chime sounds^. • Light and dark themes to fit your taste or your environment^. • Quickly start chimes from the first screen that the app opens to. • Special completion chimes so you know when you're done. • Runs in the background. • Graphical user interface when running the app in the foreground. • Repeating interval sequences. • It's universal! ^ Requires in-app upgrade. BEST USES • Use it as a Pomodoro timer or for other time-based productivity methods. • Setup custom workouts with variable intervals. • Chime on the hour to remind yourself to get up from your desk and stretch. • In school? Setup a quick chime at 5 seconds and breeze through those flash cards! • Just got lasik and your surgeon you putting those drop in your eyes all the time? Yeah, this will help you! • _ -- Tweet me @chimesquirrel or use the Feedback button in the app to let me know how you are using Chime Squirrel. Here is the article about sitting and standing up from Dr. Mercola. I also heard about it on a Dr. Oz show not too long ago. Story at-a-glance Sitting for extended periods of time is an independent risk factor for poor health and premature death. Even if you are very fit, if you uninterruptedly sit for a great percentage of the time, you’re still at an increased risk of dying prematurely Research by the NASA scientist responsible for monitoring the astronauts, shows your body declines rapidly when sitting for long periods Simply standing up over 30 times a day is a powerful antidote to long periods of sitting and is more effective than walking There are virtually unlimited opportunities for movement throughout the day, from doing housework or gardening, to cooking and even just standing up every 10 minutes It’s not how many hours of sitting that's bad for you; it’s how often you interrupt that sitting that is GOOD for you 1 Full Story By Dr. Mercola If you’re like most people, myself included, you probably spend a large portion of each day in a seated position. It’s hard to avoid these days, as computer work predominates, and most also spend many hours each week driving to and from work. Mounting research now suggests that sitting in and of itself is an independent risk factor for poor health and premature death—even if you exercise regularly. Dr. Joan Vernikos, former director of NASA’s Life Sciences Division and author of Sitting Kills, Moving Heals, presents a simple yet powerful scientific explanation for why sitting has such a dramatic impact on your health, and

Heyya there Fred. I've also got an Apple TV, or, should I say that my wife does... I've not really found anything on the apple tv which will work for College sports with the exeption of the watch ESPN app which you'll have to have a subscribtion or know someone with a subscribtion to cable to watch make work. Past that... There are a few shows which you can watch which deal with college sports on Hulu, but, not games. Afraid if you want to keep watching sports, you're going to be forced to keep your cable. Just for the record... We cut ours last month. Since I don't watch college sports on tv. Problem with an iBook
I bought two iBooks last night. One is a omnibus edition of two books by the same author, over 700 print pages. I got the iTunes receipt in my email showing I had been billed for both the items I purchased. Unfortunately, instead of over 700 pages, what downloaded was the two pages of promotional material about the book. It is not a new book, so this is not a pre-order. I found the Report a Problem link below the book title in the iTunes receipt and clicked on it. I signed in with my Apple ID and password. Below the Report a Problem heading was my Apple ID and an edditfield with a string of characters already filled in, and No results below that. There was nowhere to proceed from there. Where can I call or email to get the book or a refund? Thanks for any help. Kathy Blackburn kblac...@austin.rr.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Apple TV and college sports?
In addition to Sean's comments, the nice thing about AppleTV with the ESPN service is it you get ESPN 360. This includes ESPN three. You normally have to watch it to your computer, but all the ESPN content is available on Apple TV. It's very nice. Re: why an ipad mini?
Here's what I posted about my Ipad mini on another list: I recently bought a refurbished ipad mini. Here's why I like it over my Booksense standard. It has two speakers and they have more volume and sound better than the speakers in the booksense. With the following apps,it does everything I've been doing with the booksense. With the bard mobile app, I can read nls books on it. Books can be directly downloaded to the ipad mini. With the audible app, I can read books from audible. Books can be directly downloaded to the ipad mini. With the Kindle app, I can read Kindle books from Amazon. With voice dream reader, I can read books from bookshare, unprotected epub and other file types. I use it to read multi-part mp3 audio books. What's nice about voice dream reader, you can download books from both bookshare and Project Gutenberg directly to the ipad mini. I bought the optional neospeech voice to make it sound just like a booksense when reading any text based file. Voice dream reader is supplied with Acapela. I can switch between Acapela and neospeech. With the downcast app, I can download podcasts directly to the ipad mini. I can subscribe and unsubscribe to podcasts right on it. -Original Message- From: Ricardo Walker Sent: Thursday, January 02, 2014 8:35 PM To: viphone Subject: Re: why an ipad mini? Hi, I love my iPad mini. For me, it more has replaced my Macbook pro than my iPhone. Especially for media consumption, and when on the go. Its just easier to throw my iPad into my bag then my 4 pound Macbook. I have a keyboard case so, I don’t feel like I’m loosing much functionality. I also have a cellular model. In comparison to my iPhone, I find myself reaching for my iPad to listen to audiobooks movies, and youtube more than I do my iPhone do to the better speakers. Same goes for listening to music, although I pair my JBL flip bluetooth speaker for that generally. And the battery life is a big factor too. I can go 3 days easy even when using my iPad mini retina hard. If I’m careful, I’ve gotten as much as 7 days on a single charge. The iPad is one of those things when you get one, you all of a sudden find uses for it that never entered your mind prior. lol. As far as apps, I do find some apps much easier to use on an iPad like Mail and messages for example. For this reason, I generally avoid challenging a close rival and just go down through the list of other castles and look for parties I think I can come up with some strategy to defeat. The challenge quests should work the same way as the story quests. Come up with your party based on the monsters you'll be facing. You should learn over time the characteristics of certain monsters. If you haven't figured this out yet then just take your best guess or use a fairly generic party. Pay attention to the tips you get after you lose a battle. For example, this is where you learn that goos are vulnerable to magic attacks. Also, during your battles, do a two finger flick up and pay attention to how your different heroes are holding up. If your trailing heroes are getting taken out right away, move some heroes with more armor to the back of your party. If your lightly armored heroes are dieing early then replace them with heroes that have more armor and so on. Re: Apple TV and college sports?
I am from Michigan as well. For Spartin games I listen to 760 WJR using the ootunes app. Although you can't directly do this on your apple TV you can airplay from your iphone to the apple tv. I believe Wolverine games are on 950 WWJ but since I prefer my football teams to play in bowls that arn't sponcered by sports bars I'm not sure how hard it is to find the games. For general college football I'd look at the all football app. It has a list of division 1A teams with radio stations that cary the games. I'd say I can get about 70% of the college football games I want on it. Once again airplay from an iDevice to the apple tv is your friend. Candy, I have the iPhone 5s which is a great phone. My netbook is 5 years old and I could use something else to do email with. I don't want another netbook or anything like it. So, I've decided on an iPad Air. Both myself and my wife want the air now. We gave each other one for Christmas but just haven't gone down to an apple store to get them. Every time she drives past one of their stores, you would think they were giving stuff away. The stores are packed with people. Ricardo, Could you please explain why mail and messages are easier for you on the ipad mini? I don’t normally use my iPhone for mail, so I am interested in why you think it is better with the ipad. Car charger
Dear listers We had a car charger that fits into the cigarette lighter socket (probably called something less contentious these days) and it was chunky enough to make me think it had some sort of transformer in there. It is the old 30pin cable and thus doesn’t work with my 5S so I bought one that just has a USB socket on it so we can use whichever cable we like. It wasn't bought from an Apple store and it only cost £5. This new charger is so tiny and light that it couldn’t possibly have a transformer inside it. My question is, is this a problem? Will it be safe to plug my phone in? I really don’t want to fry my phone but this was what they sold me and this shop has not let us down before. I just want to be sure before taking the plunge. Re: Apple TV and college sports?
Yes, , you are able to get all of the excilance in sports programming network channels.. on the apple tv. Which does give you options as far as watching what they're showing on any of their networks. Again, the down side to all this is. You must have cable provider information, or know someone who is willing to let you use their cable provider information. - Original Message - From: Les Kriegler To: viphone@googlegroups.com Cc: viphone@googlegroups.com ; touchdowncr...@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, January 03, 2014 09:12 Subject: Re: Apple TV and college sports? NFL games on U.S. radio stations
I am so glad to have the all football radio app for my IOS devices because I seldom can find the NFL games on broadcast radio. I would appreciate knowing why this year there are far fewer games available on open air radio. I assume it has something to do with the unmitigated greed of the NFL but would like to know more specifics. With the play off games coming up in a couple of days, wouldn't you know that my wireless router would die. Re: NFL games on U.S. radio stations
Don: You're pretty much on track there. The NFL like Major League Baseball has really begun to put the clamps on stations as far as their streaiming of games go. I know that our FM station in our cluster is an affiliate of the Tennessee Titans , we're told all the time, how, we have to make sure that the live stream is cut off alternate programming on the stream, etc. You're also starting to find this to be much more an issue with College sports as well with most all of the Colleges either having IMG or Learfield as their programming heads these days. The NFL such as does Major League Baseball wants to make sure that if you want to listen to games, you're going to have to pay them before you do it. - Original Message - From: Donald L. Re: NFL games on U.S. radio stations
We have also affiliations with UT men's women's sports as well. As well as Georgia in our cluster as well. They don't seem to come down as hard yet as some of the other College groups do, but, we do hear from them from time to time as both of them are IMG College schools. We try to remember to cut the stream off, but, if it don't happen. We don't get the reminders that we'd get from the NFL or our Corperat heads down south. - Original Message - From: Sean Paul newsandtraf...@aol.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, January 03, 2014 15:45 Subject: Re: NFL games on U.S. radio stations Don: You're pretty much on track there. Welcome and how to use BumpPassing along... - Original Message - From: Bump Technologies To: lang...@gmail.com Sent: Friday, January 03, 2014 11:58 AM Subject: Bump and Flock will be shut down on January 31 Bump and Flock will be shut down on January 31 Hello, Back in September, we announced that the Bump team was joining Google to continue our work of helping people share and interact with one another using mobile devices. We are now deeply focused on our new projects within Google, and we've decided to discontinue Bump and Flock. On January 31, 2014, Bump and Flock will be removed from the App Store and Google Play. After this date, neither app will work, and all user data will be deleted. We’ve taken much care to make sure that you can retain any data you have in Bump and Flock. At any point in the next 30 days, simply open either app and and follow the instructions for exporting your data. You’ll then receive an email with a link containing all of your data (photos, videos, contacts, etc) from Bump or Flock. Over the years, we’ve been inspired and humbled by the millions of people who have used Bump and Flock. Your feedback, enthusiasm, and support has brought much meaning to our work, and we want to thank you all for that. In many ways, Bump was a revolutionary product that inspired many subsequent advances and helped push the world forward. We hope our new creations at Google will do the same. RE: Note master
Hi Jen, If you are creating a new note, there will be 2 text edit fields. The first one will say Untitled Note. When you open this edit field, I will highlight the text and delete that and then add my own title. The second text edit field is where you place the text for that note. Okay. You made me curious. I created a new note without a title and saved it. I reopened it and you are presented with the same 2 edit fields. Hence, Tap on the first one and it will probably state Untitled Note. How does one highlight text like this, in order to delete? I've been going to Insertion Point at End, then deleting each character. Highlighting and deleting certainly sounds much easier and faster. I see losing a battle as an investment in learning more about my heroes and the enemies I'm facing. I think sometimes, they allow one station to stream, in the case of college. Remember that shops have height and width. So, the width of each slot and the height of the floor are important. Re: why an ipad mini?
I'm one who own the ipad, the mini and iphone, and one who uses all of them. As far as i'm concern, the full ipad and the mini is exactly the same. Only different you might get is the size. Also, if you compare the air and the mini retina, they both have the same specs but different size. However, if you compare the mini retina, and mini 1st gen, the mini retina will be faster than the mini 1st gen. For me, i use my full ipad when i'm at home, watching videos etc. and i'll have my mini with me when i m traveling around the place, using it on the bus or train or plain, reading book browsing internet etc. As far as my phone is concern, i use it mainly to make phone calls, and also using it for gps, social media, camera etc. If i have the choice to choose between mini retina and the air, i will go with the air. As far as the apps that got mention on one of the email is concern, you can use kindle, bard, voicedream, read2go, ibooks on both the phone and also on the pad. Also, someone did mention something about how blind people use ipad because they don't to seem like part of the the sighted community, that is something i'm not sure if i can agree with. Re: Car charger
Just speaking personally, I wouldn't worry about it. It just has to meet the USB specifications for providing power, which are pretty straightforward and a USB port just doesn't provide that much power. Again, this is just my personal opinion, and only reflects my level of concern with my own iPhone. On 01/03/2014 12:42 PM, Robin Christopherson wrote: Dear listers We had a car charger that fits into the cigarette lighter socket (probably called something less contentious these days) and it was chunky enough to make me think it had some sort of transformer in there. I see losing a battle as an investment in learning more about my heroes and the enemies I'm facing. Re: Netatmo - successfully setup 2 additional inddor modules
I, too, really enjoy my Netatmo weather Station. Since I heat with wood, I have the base station at the other end of the living room, away from the stove. There is one major problem with the weather station; it doesn't lie. The outdoor temperature is now fifteen below zero. I can't wait until July and see if it will hit 70. I am quite pleased that I now can monitor 3 different locations within our home for temperature, and the outdoor temperature as well. We only have 2 zone controls in our house, for 3 living areas, and it’s sometimes a juggling act to try to figure out what’s going on when one person is cold, another is hot, and yet another feels the temperature is fine. The information generated by these independent monitors, and easily accessible on my iPhone 5, is really valuable to me. Re: NFL games on U.S. radio stations
Part of it is NFL policies, although in some markets the games are broadcast over the Internet. There is one station that seemed to carry the Seattle Seahawks games. What I've found is that All Football hasn't kepu up their links, or sometimes a station that I can get on the Internet won't play with All Football Radio. I usually try to find a link on http://freefootballradio.com/ However, there are some markets that just don't have a working link in which case I use SiriusXm's app. - Original Message - From: Donald L. Re: why an ipad mini?
Hi, Don't get me wrong here: this isn't a flame, and it's not directed toward anyone in particular; I'm just making a comment. What SS Eric says below strikes me as absurd. The second I whip out my cane the idea of any attempt to hide my blindness would go right out the window, and I'm definitely not ashamed to walk around with a cane. Walking around in public without my cane is unsafe, impractical and just plain foolish. I'm secure enough in my blindness that I really don't give a rip if anybody notices or has a negative opinion about my condition and I sure don't have to carry one I-device versus the other to try to hide my blindness and fit in with the sighted world. That's just silly nonsense. Tom - Original Message - From: SSEric sseri...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, January 03, 2014 2:56 PM Subject: Re: why an ipad mini? Re: why an ipad mini?
I'm confused. What are you saying here? Are you saying that a blind person will use an iPad instead of or in addition to an iPhone because they will appear less blind? I don't think the sighted community or the public in general think of the iPhone as a blind friendly device while the iPad is only able to be used by the sighted. I'd think the general public would consider them both pretty impossible to use without sight. Re: Building in solara and managing shops
At a certain level, you can't add to the height of your castle any more. If you want to build shops, you'll need to demolish or move some of your existing shops. If you want to build a shop that consists of three units and one floor, then you need to find a level where you can get three adjacent units, again either by moving or demolishing existing shops. If you want to build a shop that is two stories tall and takes up four units then you need to free up four adjacent units on one floor and the same four adjacent units on the floor above or below. In the previous version of Solara, the what's new sayd that they fixed a bug with VoiceOver and managing shops. I haven't managed any shops since then, but it used to be pretty tedious and my focus would keep jumping around on the screen. I'm not sure if this is the bug they fixed or not. I haven’t used the manage shops thing yet, so can’t tell you about that one. question about blue tuth keybords and if there are ones with larger keys?
Hi all. I got a blue tooth keyboard a few months ago some time last year. I got it from another person who was selling there's on a bye cell and trade list. the mottle I got was the Rii blue tooth keyboard. I am wondering I find that the keys are to small for my fingers. my question is there any blue tooth keyboards that have the keys any larger like the size of a standard keyboard for a laptop or desktop?and are there blue tuth keybords that are even that size? and if so where would I be able to find such a thing and what would be the name of it? many thanks. from Mich. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: question about blue tuth keybords and if there are ones with larger keys?
I find the Amazon basics Bluetooth keyboard of very comfortable keyboard to use. The keys are normal size easy to touch and it's lightweight and compact I type with the same facility on this keyboard as the keyboard for my desktop at work On Jan 3, 2014, at 9:19 PM, Mich mi...@eastlink.ca wrote: Hi all. Re: why an ipad mini?
Settings, change the layout. I've not got the Mini now to check this more precisely. I have been trying to decide if I will purchase an iPad mini. I have many friends that have them, but, they are sighted and like the bigger screen as opposed to the phone. I use headphones for listening to most music, so the speaker wouldn't be a consideration. I can always buy a blue tooth speaker. Do you use Siri on the iPad? How do you type your messages? Right now I am using mbraille. I guess it would take some getting used to on the iPad. Anyway, thanks again for your input. I priced them today, so I may get one.
