Blind Square question about coveridge and voices

2014-05-17 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I'm considering getting the blind square app but was wondering if there's a way
to know if the area I live in is well covered "Foursquare and or open-street
before I commit.

Also is there any advantage to using the extra voices other than the quality of
the sound? I mean are there features that function differently with iOS voices
than the other ones?

Thanks so much for your help and sorry for blasting away with so many
questions.

Best,

Ioana

Hi All,

I kinda hate using iTunes so I take a zipped archive of music I have placed
on Dropbox, and I then launch Voice Dream Reader and use the "Add" button to

import my music from Dropbox.

I then go back into my Dropbox folder and Delete the music folder since it
is already on my device within VDR.

Voice Dream Reader is very good for listening to music and excellent for
listening to audio books as the track sequence is maintained and books
easily move from track to track.

Give it a shot. .

Tom is correct, apps on the iPhone are very limited as to how they can
access data and it is not possible to put music onto your iPhone via Dropbox
yet have it outside the Dropbox folder structure.

I would recommend that you add the music to your iTunes music library and
you can of course move it out of Dropbox and copy it into the Music folder
which is a subfolder of iTunes Media. Once you have done that and added it
to your iTunes Music library you can connect your iPhone to the computer,
find it under devices and after checking the Music radio button you can
select how you want to sync your music. Primarily you choose between syncing
your entire music library or, if that is too much to fit on your phone,
select to sync selected playlists, artists, albums and genres.
I prefer to sync by artist so I then tab until I get to the artist list view
where I can then arrow through an alphabetical list of all the artists I
have and check the ones I want to sync by pressing the space bar. When I am
done I tab to the Sync button and the music is copied to my phone.

If this is all new to you I recommend that you listen to Jonathan Mosen's
2-series on using iTunes 11 with Jaws 14 which are the FS Casts for December
2012 and January 2013 at www.FreedomScientific.com/FSCast.
If you are a Mac user this of course may not be the best podcast to listen
to.

Sieghard

Audio editing with GoldWave.
Web site creation and maintenance

Pretty much everything else I mostly do with the iPhone; banking, web

I also think Microsoft word is far, far easier to use than any word

The business of having to figure out when to "interact" and when you don't

For Traci, Re: Does Comcast have an ap?

2014-05-17 Thread Terri S
Hello there Traci,

Thank you so much for all this helpful information. I really do appreciate it.

If you can not use the TV guide, then how do you find the TV shows, or movies,
you want to record?

The same thing goes with the on-demand? Can you view the listings as to what
are on the on-demand? Or can you only search for things?

Also, do you know what models of DVR are used?
I ask this, because I told a friend of mine about this, and they were wondering
that. They have an older TV, and wonder if they can get a DVR.

Thank you again.

It might be possible to recover deleted text messages provided you made a
backup of your iPhone. However, the process can be quite involved and
requires resoration of an entire backup, not just a particular text message
or text messages as a group. You might want to read the How to Retrieve
Deleted Text Messages from an iPhone article at this link:

Re: Editing documents in Microsoft Office Mobile

2014-05-17 Thread Richard Turner
It can't be done on the iPhone.
There are separate apps for the iPad that apparently can edit with VoiceOver,
but not on the iPhone.
Please contact Microsoft accessibility as well as Apple Accessibility.

Editing documents in Microsoft Office Mobile

2014-05-17 Thread Ryan Mann
Hello. A while ago, I read on this list that it is possible to edit documents
in Microsoft Office Mobile using VoiceOver. I have access to an Office 365
subscription and I created a One Drive account. I created a simple document.
I was able to type a sentence into the document. However, when I switch the
rotor to words or characters, I cannot move around the document. If I switch
to characters or words and start flicking down, VoiceOver just keeps saying
"top of document." I tried doing the rotor with my Logitech Easy Switch
bluetooth keyboard and I get the same results. Besides using the rotor, I also
tried turning Quicknav off and just using the Left and Right Arrow keys on my
keyboard and I get the same result. What else do I need to do to be able to
edit documents in Microsoft Office Mobile?
Thanks.

iOS keyboard questions

2014-05-17 Thread Bill K. Dengler(iPad)
Hello,
I received my iOS tablet yesterday.
My keyboard works quite well, except for a few minor things. One, the commands
VO+home and VO+end appear to do nothing. Are these commands simply unsupported
or do I need to use a different command to achieve the same result? Two, when
jumping to the menubar with VO+m, how do I get back? Pressing escape does not
close the menubar but instead presses the application back button. Three, how
do I set the keyboard focus to follow the VO curser, so that when I move the VO
curser to an edit field I can just start typing?

Thanks,
Bill

RE: getting Siri to schedule a calendar event

Hi Paula,

What I say is: schedule an appoint for Wednesday, or the date, at 10 a.m.,
titled hair appointment. It always works for me. Then if you want to set
up a reminder, you can do it the same way, only saying remind me instead of
schedule.

Good luck.

Hi, all. I am having difficulty getting Siri to schedule a calendar event.
I say "schedule an appointment for, then the date, subject and time. But
Siri never seems to put the correct title of the appointment. It gets the
time and date right, so I must be saying something wrong. Any help would be

Excellent audio demos of useful products including RiVO

2014-05-17 Thread Ein
Hi,

Listen to excellent audio demos of useful products from a podcast, called
iSee - How to use Apple Products from an Accessibility Perspective.

Visit one of the following links:

FYI, RiVO is a portable keyboard about the size of a credit card. The demo
is posted in the podcast on May 7.
Thanks.

Re: blindsquare info

2014-05-17 Thread RobH.
Personally, and from previous BS comment, I find ArroundMe more use as that
database is derived from more commercial and dare I say, dependable sources.

How is the data in blind square compaired to let's say yellow pages?
Could it substitute an app like around-me?
Thanks for your answers.
Best,

Ioana

Re: blindsquare info

2014-05-17 Thread RobH.
I'm not a member, so don't get to add or delete places marked as POIs.
Someof them listed here are from noddy users and are pretty useless. "The
529 bus stop" is quite a long route and can apply to about 60 or so.
Another said "in a car on the M6", also quite useful.

I found two local but very obscure train stations listed, and the main one I
use, not listed.
I soon gave up on it as too noddy to put any trust in.

Hi all,

For those of you using blind square I was wondering how important it is to
be a foursquare member. I am not realy interested in joining an other social
network. But if any of you would like to share how foursquare might be
useful I'd be greatful.
Thanks for any info.

Best,

Ioana
