In My Iphone5, Speech rate Gets Doubled When Changing Language On Rotor

2015-03-25 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I have Iphone5 with IOS8.1.2.

The Speech Rate increased considerably when I change the language using
rotor. Is this a bug? Do we have solution for this, please?

Thanks!

No it is not a bug, you've got your rotor sent to the speech rate and when your
finger touches the screen you're swiping up and down which changes the speed.

Do you have a problem navigating social media? Do you find that email is the
best way to communicate, are you interested in meeting new people and making
new friends? Then we have created a group for you.this group, is where blind
and deaf individuals can get together and socialize in communicate. If you were

How do I set up Googlemail 2-step verification on my IPhone/IPad/Mac?

2015-03-25 Thread Eleanor Roberts
Hi All

I'm sure this topic has bbeen mentioned many times before. However, I
discovered yesterday that someone had tried to get into my googlemail account.
I went through my security settings, changed my password etc, but then found
the bit on 2-step verification. With a bit of fiddling I managed to get it set
up on my IPad and registered as a "trusted computer". However, I then couldn't
find out how to get it set up on/to trust my IPhone and Mac. So if anyone
would be able to send me some step-by-step fairly idiot-proof instructions on
how to get it set up on all 3 devices I'd be most grateful?! At present I have
disabled it so will be starting from scratch in the case of all 3 machines.

Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Eleanor

2015-03-25 Thread Anne Robertson
It is in fact a bug. I have exactly the same problem when switching from
English to French and we are far from alone in having this problem. I had hoped
it would be resolved in iOS8.2 but it isn’t

Yes they should of included both links right from the start on the book pages
so one could download or add to wish list would of saved a few clicks or swipes.

Re: How do I set up Googlemail 2-step verification on my IPhone/IPad/Mac?

2015-03-25 Thread Alex Hall
I'm guessing you're talking about Mail, not logging in on a web browser? If so,
log in on a web browser (you'll have to enter a code sent to your phone the
first time you do this).

Next, go to your settings on Google (not on Gmail) and hit the Security tab.
You should find a link to manage app-specific passwords; activate that, then
follow the steps on the screen to make a password for one of your devices. This
is the password you'll enter into, say, the Mac's Mail app when you set up your
account.

Repeat the process as many times as you need to. Note that, when I tried this,
I sometimes had problems with the Mac's Mail app ceasing to work correctly; I'd
have to make and enter a new password every few months. For that and a few
other reasons I eventually switched to iCloud mail. I didn't see this problem
on any forums, though, so I must have just been lucky.

RE: How to delete previews in NatureSpace

2015-03-25 Thread Neal Ewers
Hi Kimber. I think this is a bust. I have done it all of one time. I can't do
it again. And when I ask my wife to look at the screen when I double tap the
info button, no delete option appears. It does if you are deleting an actual
sound you have downloaded, but not so much when you are deleting a preview. I
hope this is something they will ultimately fix.

No it is not a bug, you've got your rotor sent to the speech rate and when your
finger touches the screen you're swiping up and down which changes the speed.

Do you have a problem navigating social media? Do you find that email is the

2015-03-25 Thread Feliciano Godoy
Hi Anne,
It may be the fact that the second language that you are using is more
sensative. I have played with different languages and have found that the
Spanish language as a second languageis more sensitive compared to the other
Irish and Australian voices to where I have to set the Spanish speech to 50%
under settings, general, accessibility, voiceover, speech, Spanish more info
to be the equivalent of the United States English default voice.

  Regards,
Feliciano

Hello Feliciano,

If it isn’t a bug, why does the same speech rate setting give faster
speech in the second language, the one that is different from the
current language of the iPhone? Such an inconsistency seems like a bug
to me.

Cheers,

Re: nls bard question

2015-03-25 Thread David Justice

Using the BARD app, you can download recently added titles without first adding
them to your wish list. When you use the BARD app to browse the site as you
would with Safari, or whatever, is when you have to first add to your wish list
before downloading. A bit of a bother, but a minor one I think.

On the other hand, you can use the Audible or Kindle apps to look for books
offered from those two services, but must go through a number of steps to
actually purchase the book , including using a separate browser, before you get
to the step of downloading using the app specific to the service. More
inconvenient than when using the app to get books from BARD, I think.

RE: Relaxation App For Help Getting To Sleep?

2015-03-25 Thread Neal Ewers
Hi Anna, That works for me if the sound is one I have purchased, but it does
not work for me when the sound is a preview. The delete button does not appear.
This was my error in thinking that you could delete previews because I knew it
worked when deleting purchased files. I thought I deleted a preview, but likely
I accidently deleted one of my purchased files this way. I asked my wife to
look at the screen when I tapped the Info button, and nothing appeared that
would allow me to delete.

You have obviously done this, so, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks as always, Anna.

I also wanted to mention that if you like thunderstorms, NatureSpace has a
second app called Thundergod that includes several great recordings. If you
have the main NatureSpace app and you buy Thundergod, you get access to all the
Thundergod thunderstorm recordings in NatureSpace. You can then delete

I find that adding a book to the wish list and then going to the Get books
tab is extremely simple and straight forward. I can browse and add several
books to download at later times so I don't have so many on the phone at
once. With the first version you had to go to the web site to put the books
in the wish list which was much more of a nuisance.

Don,

I think the step you're missing is to first add the book you want to your
wish list. You then go to your wish list by selecting the get books
button

which is second from the left on the BARD mobile app bottomline menu. On
the screen which opens, select your wish list and when you double tap on
the desired book in the list, the download should begin.

When you search BARD using the app's search box or by browsing by the
provided links, the add to wish list link should be obvious for each
book.

Good luck but post back if you have more questions.

Re: nls bard question

2015-03-25 Thread Alan J Paganelli
I've found that downloading a book during the day time takes longer to
download then it does late at night.

I would like to see them figure out a way to let youstart reading a book on
your iPhone and finish or pickup where you left off on your iPad. Perhaps
they'll figure out something one day.

Don,

I think the step you're missing is to first add the book you want to your
wish list. You then go to your wish list by selecting the get books button
which is second from the left on the BARD mobile app bottomline menu. On
the screen which opens, select your wish list and when you double tap on
the desired book in the list, the download should begin.

When you search BARD using the app's search box or by browsing by the
provided links, the add to wish list link should be obvious for each book.

Good luck but post back if you have more questions.

I find that adding a book to the wish list and then going to the Get books
tab is extremely simple and straight forward. I can browse and add several
books to download at later times so I don't have so many on the phone at
once. With the first version you had to go to the web site to put the books
in the wish list which was much more of a nuisance.

Hi Neal and all,

It’s been a while, but I have definitely deleted previews this way. I think the
trick is that the previews are short, and you have to get the process done
while they’re still playing. So start it playing and immediately choose Info,
and you should be able to delete it. But if it’s not actually playing, the
option to delete isn’t there.

I believe it was that of a person who may have changed their name to their
family, the name of the group he ‘leads’. I think I’ve solved it, though on the
PC. If not, as I say, I’ll do it on the iPhone.

What is the name of this group that you were added to?

was a way to start read on one device and pick up where I left off on

When you search BARD using the app's search box or by browsing by the
provided links, the add to wish list link should be obvious for each
book.

Good luck but post back if you have more questions.

bard selecting a letter of searching

2015-03-25 Thread don bishop
Well, one more question about the bard mobile app.
If you try to look at books by title, you have a popup buttun and screll for
the first letter inthe title. How do you navigate when the popup botton is
pressed? Nothing I do seems to want to scroll the letters, so I'm obviously
doing something wrong. This scroling seems to work in other apps, but something
is different with the bard app.

What am i missing?

Thanks,

Re: Quick Moderator Note - Just a friendly recommendation -was- Re: Amazon app update

2015-03-25 Thread Ann
Hello, I'm very happy with the new changes that Amazon is put in place for the
iPhone application.
One of the things I really appreciate, is the fact that I can read more than
just a few of the reviews that customers right. In previous updates, you can
only read so many.
I love to go to the reviews that say helpful, because I purchased a lot of
grocery things, and people tell you how to Dr. some of them up. I just sent a
note off to Amazon thanking them for the good work.

Re: bard selecting a letter of searching

2015-03-25 Thread Destene Noller
Hi Don,

When you double-tap the popup button, the area for scrolling through the
letters is at the bottom right of the screen, right below a done button. The
letters do seem pretty touchy, but it is possible to make them work by flicking
up or down. I seem to have to hold my mouth just right to be successful LOL!
Good luck! HTH

Hi Don,
It isn't you. That is a bug from way back that has not been fixed.
Some folks are able to work around it, and hopefully one of them will chime in,
but I found it too frustrating to use.
If I want to browse, I do that on the web.

Re: Any good apps or websites for beginning to learn music braille?

2015-03-25 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Keith,
Well, I suspect the instructions are all in contracted braille, so it might be
a a bit tedious working through them.
I think NLS probably would have some music braille instruction books, or at
least a reference book.
Or maybe National Braille Press or American Printing House.
Good luck which ever way you tackle it.

Hi,

To delete a preview, start playing it, and tap Info while it’s playing. A
delete button will appear on the right side of the screen near the bottom;
double-tap it to start the deletion process.

Hi Anna and list. Anna, thanks for the information about these apps. As many of
you know, I record a lot of nature sounds. I have to say that these sounds are
recorded as well as any I have heard.

I do have one question. I can’t seem to delete the previews of sounds I have

figured out how to do this with VoiceOver, I would appreciate knowing the

Hi,

Two-finger double-tap works for me when stopping a track.

Thundergod if you like, and still hear all the tracks from within NatureSpace.
So it’s a cheaper way to get this collection of tracks then buying them within
NatureSpace.

Best,

Anna

a word, like morning or evening or rain. I wish these words would be made into
