Re: Logitech K810 Bluetooth Keyboard?

2015-06-18 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
Ok, I'm going to guess it is in Mac mode, so keys along the bottom should be -
ctrl/option/cmd/space/cmd/option/ctrl.

Second, The Voiceover or VO keys are ctrl-option. Keyboard help is VO-K or
Control-Option-K; and it should tell you you are in
help mode. Then you can press keys and it should tell what they are, maybe even
what they do.

I don't know the rest.

Subject: Logitech K810 Bluetooth Keyboard?

Hi, list.

I have just purchased my Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard.

Do we have any key describer mode for this keyboard? If yes, how can I
activate/deactivate that, please?

Or, can someone describe the keys on the top row and either side of spacebar
for me, please?

Thanks!

Re: Logitech K810 Bluetooth Keyboard?

2015-06-18 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
Ok, the windows keyboard in mac mode would give

control/command/option/space/option/command/#*/control.

I am hazzarding a guess whether that version has the Windows Application key on
the right or not.
But this should still show where the VO keys are.

Fazil,

Just wanted to see if you are aware that the K810 is designed for Windows. It
will work with Mac and iOS devices, but it has Alt
key, Control key and Windows key instead of Command, Option etc. The K811 is
the exact same keyboard but with the Mack/iOS keys.

Turn Twitter Power Into Your Power And Get Things Done

2015-06-18 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Thanks to my trusty Smartphone app, in conjunction with my favorite web
browser, I have resolved several issues with companies with whom I do
business including Samsung, AT&T, Apple, my local water company, one of my
banking services, a local restaurant chain, a grocery store, and a shopping
facility (just to name a few) via Twitter.

I am convinced that my issues would not have so quickly been resolved via
any other channel.

In one instance, for example, I Tweeted a problem at approximately 11:55pm,
that had previously gone unanswered via traditional channels including email
and telephone, and received a response within 10 minutes. Time of day
notwithstanding, this was not an isolated response time.

So, I want to encourage anyone who is trying to reach a particular developer
of an app, or has questions about a product or service, technology related
or not, to strongly consider using the power of Twitter to make your voice
herd or to simply make contact.

Turn Twitter's power into your power and get things done.

Mark

apple keyboard

2015-06-18 Thread Jeremy Gilley
Good morning,

I just hooked up my apple wireless keyboard to my phone and for the most
part works fine.

What I am seeing is that the keyboard is putting multiple letters in the
word.

Take the word "Bless" it put multiple letters B'S, E'S, multiple L'S etc.

So, it comes across as: bblles.

Can someone tell me how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.

Language and speech rate?

2015-06-18 Thread Harry Bell
I have been having a real problem with speech rate in the language rotor. I
have a Spanish novel bought from I books store. Initially VoiceOver tried to
read it out using the English voice so I used the rotor to select the high
quality Spanish voice I had already downloaded. My VoiceOver normal speaking
rate is about 20% but when the Spanish voice was selected in the rotor, it was
gabbling away at a furious rate. So I used the rotor to select speech rate and
only by reducing the speech rate to 1% could I reduce the speed to what seems
to me a normal rate. This cannot be right! I checked all the settings with a
guru at the local apple store but he was just as puzzled as I am. Is there a
multilingual person out there who knows what is going wrong? Thanks harry

Hive Heating

2015-06-18 Thread 'ChalmersAS' via VIPhone
Hi all

I know I have seen some traffic in the group on this, but I recently had one of
these installed and really I can’t make head nor tail of the app. All I can
seem to manage to do is text my boiler, which does work, but seems bizarre and,
of course, depends on the existing presets.

The app doesn’t seem to do things that apps should do. For example, absence of
buttons where one would expect there to be buttons. When I was speaking to
British Gas about this they kept saying that there were “dots” above the days
of the week, but not on VO, there weren’t. VO couldn’t even read the days of
the week individually.

Anyone got any tips on how to navigate this?

British Gas said that the RNIB had tested this app for their developer, but I
can’t see any evidence of this.

Regards and thanks in advance for any help

Adrienne

Call RNIB and ask if this is indeed the case. If so, they're not doing
their job.

Re: Logitech K810 Bluetooth Keyboard?

2015-06-18 Thread David Justice

At the moment I'm using my K810 with iOS7.x, but believe what I describe below
is the same with iOS8.3.

On the bottom row: Control, Function, Command, Option, Space bar, Option,
Control, and the arrow keys.

Hold down the Control and Option key and press the letter K to enter VoiceOver
help mode. You can leave this mode by pressing the Escape key which is the
first key on the top row. While in VoiceOver help mode you can press a single
key or combination of keys and VoiceOver will tell you what they are or do.
Not all keys or key combinations will be described. For example, except for
the Escape key, the keys in the top row, by themselves, will not be described.

There are 15 keys on the top row. Below I will give a number to each and
describe them as I remember.

1: Escape.
2, 3, and 4: Switch to paired device 1, 2, or 3.
5: Unknown.
6: Reduce back lighting.
7: Increase back lighting.
8: Play/Pause.
9: Mute sound. This includes VoiceOver.
10: Volume down.
11: Volume up.
12: Home button.
13: Display or hide on-screen keyboard.
14: Unknown.
15: Delete.

Have you tried first opening the iTunes folder. Next copy the iTunesmusic
library.xml to your desktop.
Next copy the iTunes library file to your desktop. Next relaunch iTunes.
Then go to file.
Then go to library.
Then go to import playlist.
Then find the iTunes music library .xml file that is on your desktop and then
select it.
Then iTunes should recreate your playlists.
Here is a link to wheir I found this information.

Re: Turn Twitter Power Into Your Power And Get Things Done

2015-06-18 Thread Wayne Merritt
What you say is true. I used to think that I could get an answer
quicker from an email list than I could by contacting the company.
While that is still true, especially on this list with so many
subscribers that are knowledgeable, the same is true for social media.
I heard of a situation a couple of years ago where a gentleman had
major issues with Southwest Airlines. He put his issues and
experiences out on Twitter via a link to a blog post, and had received
a response from the airline in a short time. Many companies are
learning that customer service does not stop at the end of the day.
This is great news for us as consumers.

Re: Deleting photo and camera

2015-06-18 Thread Wayne Merritt
Are you trying to delete the individual pictures that you have taken,
or the Photos and Camera apps? I don't think you can delete the apps
since they are stock apps that come on the phone. You could move them
into a folder that is out of the way so that they don't show on your
home screen.

Missing Open Camera button

2015-06-18 Thread Karl Smith
The other day I noticed that on my lock screen the button that says Open
Camera was suddenly gone. I have restarted the phone and it is still gone. I
haven't updated it lately or anything else I can think of that might make
this happen. It's not that I use it all that much but I just wondered if
anyone has any ideas what could have made it go away. Thanks.

15: Delete.

I don't think Russ meant to say he couldn't play a book with his iPad in
Airplane mode, but apparently in earlier versions of audible the app didn't
constantly tell you that you were in Airplane mode and should enable WiFi. I
personally don't see the point in turning on Airplane mode to save battery
life, the iPad has very good battery life as it is and I certainly would
find it bothersome if I had to turn it off every time I wanted to do
anything which involved a data connection, but of course that is everybody's

phone. When I am in my library, vo just shows me a blank screen but
if I swipe up or down I get *page 1 of 29* so on... so I know things
are there. I can only see them though if I hit the search button and
search for them. Any one else having this problem?

Fleksy Keyboard from Someone with Fleksy VO?

2015-06-18 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi list,

I've seen a comment or two about Fleksy Keyboard but not nearly the traffic
I used to see before they focused all their attention on their third-party
keyboard and removed Fleksy VO from the Apps store.

I kept my Fleksy VO and it is still my primary means of input on my iPhone.
I've avoided the last couple of Fleksy Keyboard upgrades because one upgrade
I did seemed to make Fleksy VO inoperable so I restored a backup of my
iPhone to roll it back.

I know I've seen one post that says the latest version of the Fleksy
Keyboard works much better than past iterations. Can I get some more
comments from those who are using it? Also, I'd really like to hear from
those using it who also have Fleksy VO installed so I can find out what the
latest version of Fleksy Keyboard does to Fleksy VO's operation.

Thanks in advance.

Alan Lemly

I just didn't remember seeing this bug discussed on the list.

So, I am assuming there is no workarounds as of yet?

Re: Fixing Pronunciation In IOS8.3?

2015-06-18 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
Hi,

Speaking of VO pronunciation: I would love to be able to toggle VO's
propensity to extend what it sees as abreviations. We all know them, feat, Mon,
anon, (although, for me, right now it is not doing it!) I can live, very
happily with just hearing exactly what is written and not what VO decides is
written by implication. Has anyone ever contacted Apple support with this in
mind?

Just wondering if I am alone in this?

Sandy.

15: Delete.

2015-06-18 Thread M. Taylor
Hello,

Generally speaking, there are two ways of deleting multiple photos/videos from
your iOS device, provided that they have not been synced to your computer be it
either Mac or Windows. Keep in mind that I began with the disclaimer of
"generally speaking".

Assuming that your photos/videos exist only on your phone, they are in effect,
in the album called Cameral Roll. This is important to keep in mind as the
following steps really only apply to items in the Camera Roll.

To delete multiple items from your Cameral Roll:

1.
>From the native photos app, select Albums.

2.
Open the Camera Roll album.

3.
Single-finger, double-tap the Select button located near the upper right corner
of the display.

4.
Now first place focus on, then single-finger double-tap any item you wish to
delete. VoiceOver will announce that the item has been selected.

5.
When all of your intended items have been selected, simply single-finger,
double-tap the delete button located near the lower right corner of the display.

6.
Confirm the deletion. Doing this will move all of your selected items into the
Recently Deleted album.

To delete all of the recently deleted items, at once:

1.
>From the native photos app, select Albums.

2.
Open the Recently Deleted album.

3.
Single-finger, double-tap the Select button located near the upper right corner
of the display.

4.
Finally, single-finger double-tap the Delete All button located near the bottom
left corner of the display and confirm your deletion.

Good Luck and Happy Shooting.

Pictures and videos without doing it individually.

Blind Square vs. Seeing Eye GPS

2015-06-18 Thread Joe
Hello,

Can anyone currently using BlindSquare and Seeing Eye GPS draw any
comparisons in the current versions? I tried BlindSquare over a year ago,
didn't care for it and got a refund. Now that I'm finding myself looking for
more points of interest, I'm revisiting the possibility of purchasing one or
the other. It seems BlindSquare talks to map apps for turn by turn
directions, so what would the compelling reason be to take out a
subscription with the GPS app? I do like that the Seeing Eye app can rely on
Google Places. I trust that more than FourSquare, but that in of itself is
not a deal breaker. Any thoughts on the current products would be very much
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Logitech K810 Bluetooth Keyboard?

2015-06-18 Thread David Justice

If you don't dim the backlight, it will slowly dim to off when the keyboard is
not used for a couple of minutes or so. Then when you begin to use it again,
the backlight will come back on. If you want it off while you are using it,
then press the sixth key on the top row four of five times. After doing that,
I think it will stay off until you turn the keyboard off and then on again.

I don't know of any way to turn the backlighting off permanently.

Amazon echo update disappointing

2015-06-18 Thread Mary Otten
There is an update to the echo app in the App Store. From where I sit, it looks
like Amazon has done absolutely nothing to fix the brokenness of this app from
the accessibility point of view. I know people have written them. But
apparently they don't care. Our money is not as important as other peoples
money. Very disgusted with Amazon.

sending selected text from voice dream

2015-06-18 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hello, I have successfully selected text on a book with voice dream reader by a
single finger double tap to begin selecting the first word and then swiping
down with a single finger to add more words and at the end of what I selected,
I did another single finger double tap. this brings up an option to highlight
the text. I then go to actions and to export highlighted text. From there,I
choose e-mail and send it to me. When I get the e-mail I open it and all it
says is sent from my Iphone.

Dice world issues

2015-06-18 Thread Scott Van Gorp
Hi List:

Not sure if this is a voiceover thing or not, but I'm having issues. Dice
world was trying to refresh this morning, and I couldn't get it to load so
I blew the app away and restarted it. I put in what I know to be my
username and it wouldn't take the password, so I reset it twice using my
email but I'm still having issues. This is using IOS 8.3 on one of my
devices. Does anyone have the email address for the developers so I can
try and get wit them to fix this issue? I'm going to lose the games I've
got going, but I need to get back in there. Thanks for any help. It's not
recognizing something in the reset process, but I'm not sure what.

Re: Security flaw in Apple's iOS systems

2015-06-18 Thread Christopher Chaltain
For my part, the subject line as well as the text in the link itself was
more than sufficient to summarize this issue for me and let me know
whether I wanted to click on the link for more information or not.
Furthermore, the link was pretty clearly a legitimate link to me.
Finally, it's pretty hard to get a virus just by clicking on a link
unless you're not keeping up with security patches for your system and
browser.

Rather than splitting hairs over how much information someone needs to
provide in the summary of an article before posting the link, I'd just
suggest that people who don't see enough in the body of a message to
justify clicking on a link just hit the delete key and move on rather
than critiquing the poster for not providing enough information in their
message. For my part, I'm not sure what the poster would summarize
beyond what's already in the subject and text of the link itself. The
article is pretty detailed, and if I had to summarize it, I'd probably
just give up and spend my time elsewhere. I just think the person
reading the message also has some responsibility here and doesn't have
to click on every link they see in a message. I just worry that if we
place too many restrictions on what people can and can't post that we'll
be limiting the valuable information that comes to this list because
people won't always have the time to write a detailed summary, review or
whatever. If people want their messages more widely read than they'll
put more time into them. If you don't like someone's summary or how they
wrote their message then don't feel compelled to read it or comment on
it on this list.

Like I said, I thought there was enough information in the message, and
although I'm not too terribly worried about this security threat, I was
curious about it, and I'm glad I saw the link.

Finally, it's pretty hard to get a virus just by clicking on a link
unless you're not keeping up with security patches for your system and
browser.

Rather than splitting hairs over how much information someone needs to
provide in the summary of an article before posting the link, I'd just
suggest that people who don't see enough in the body of a message to
justify clicking on a link just hit the delete key and move on rather
than critiquing the poster for not providing enough information in
their message. For my part, I'm not sure what the poster would
summarize beyond what's already in the subject and text of the link
itself. The article is pretty detailed, and if I had to summarize it,
I'd probably just give up and spend my time elsewhere. I just think
the person reading the message also has some responsibility here and
doesn't have to click on every link they see in a message. I just
worry that if we place too many restrictions on what people can and
can't post that we'll be limiting the valuable information that comes
to this list because people won't always have the time to write a
detailed summary, review or whatever. If people want their messages
more widely read than they'll put more time into them. If you don't
like someone's summary or how they wrote their message then don't feel
compelled to read it or comment on it on this list.

Like I said, I thought there was enough information in the message,
and although I'm not too terribly worried about this security threat,
I was curious about it, and I'm glad I saw the link.
