Re: UK bus app?

DentHi,
I have found the replacement traveline app to be really good. Ok its not
perfect but has a lot of good info and will speak out bus stops if you track a
route. It lists nearby bus stops as well.

Re: UK bus app?

2015-06-26 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
This is the one I tried and found it particularly bad. It didn't give me a bus
stop within half a mile as I'd switched off the ad's
in notifications. Wading through so much to find so little didn't help any
either.

No, Bus Checker does enough so far, the best one was pushed out for purely
monitory gain.

Do you have the paid version, what benefits did you find.

Hi,

Just in case anyone is interested, home budget is one app which does allow
importing of data. Unfortunately my bank is not supported, but it does seem
like most of the US and UK banks are. The app is made by anisu, in case anyone
wants to take a look. They do have a free trial.

cheers,

How to Block Facebook Game Requests

You either love them or you. don't. If you don't, this quick overview
will explain how to Block requests for Facebook Games (and/or Apps).

Facebook Games and Apps often entice users into inviting all of their
friends to participate as well, frequently by offering rewards
within the game/app itself. So even your most well-meaning friends may
give into temptation and send you a game request. This brief guide
will take you step by step through the ways to block those requests.

 1.
There are two ways to block Facebook Game or App requests - wait until
you get one, or pro-actively add some of the most popular ones. We'll
show you how to do both.
When do you receive a request to play a game, click it (which seems
like the last thing you'd want to do, but trust us on this one).

 2.
You'll be presented with a confirmation screen, which will vary in
look based on the game. Regardless, as soon as that screen appears,
 click the Cancel button.

 3.
After clicking Cancel, Facebook will redirect you to that games
Page. On this Page, click the 3 dot button ( . . . ) located on
the far right side of the Cover photo (see screenshot below).

 4.
A 'drop-down' menu will appear. From that menu, click Block App

 5.
Another confirmation window will appear. Review it and click Confirm

 6.
That's it! No one will be able to send you requests to play that
specific Game or App ever again.

The other way to block Facebook game requests is to manually add them.
 Click
here (opens in a new window/tab) to visit your Facebook Blocking Settings.
Scroll down the Blocking page until you locate the section titled
 Block apps

 7.
In the space provided, you can type in Game (and App) names that you
want to block. As you start typing, a list of Games/Apps will begin to
 appear.
Select the game you want to block from that list.

 8.
As of May 2015, the following list contains the 10 most-played games
on Facebook (source). If you manually type in each game (or copy and
paste) you'll have a good start on pre-emptively blocking the most popular
 games.
 Candy Crush Saga
 Candy Crush Soda Saga
 Clash of Clans
 Farm Heroes Saga
 8 Ball Pool
 Hay Day
 Criminal Case
 Trivia Crack
 Pet Rescue Saga
 Bubble Witch 2 Saga

 9.
If you're reading this guide well after May 2015, you may want to run
a Google Search for the phrase most popular Facebook games and find a
more recent list of current popular games.

Gmail Security Block When Changing WiFi Networks

2015-06-26 Thread Alan Lemly
I'm curious about an issue I've experienced a couple of times since I've gotten
my iPhone 6. I use gmail for email and don't think I have it set with any extra
security features. However, when I've tried getting email at a couple of places
using their wifi as opposed to my home wifi or cellular, I get a message saying
gmail was unable to get my mail and directing me to check my user name and
password. This happens even though nothing has changed with my user name or
password and I'm just accessing mail through another wifi network. I had to go
into the mail settings and re-enter my user name and password before it would
work. Powering off the phone had no effect.

I don't travel that much but I find this to be really inconvenient and if
anyone knows of a setting to change to avoid this, I'd love to hear what it is.

Thanks in advance.

 Hi folks

I've been testing and playing around on my own and together with sighted
people so that I can be sure the following is 100% true.
Accessibility is broken in the latest facebook update. You can read
statusses and react on them but it is nolonger possible to post your own
status with voiceover. If you click on the item, the only button that is
accessible is the abort or cancel button.
I even rebooted the iPhone, the app and did some cleaning of materials but
it is really an app issue of facebook.

Hi, Paul. That is exactly what happens, and, 95% of the time, turning
QuickNav off works just fine. Occassionally, I will have to lock the
 iPhone
and then unlock it to reestablish a Bluetooth connection, but, as I
 said,
about 95% of the time, pressing Space with dots 4-5 works to unlock the
 machine.

Hello, Paul. I am using the Brailliant BI 32 with an iPhone 5S with

times, I still have to press dots 4-5 with Space, which turns off
what is called QuickNav and makes the Braille appear.

In the middle of all this garbage with the Brailliant, I did make
another discovery. Often in meetings I will use the Braille layout in
IOS 8.3 and take notes that way. It appears immediately on the
Braille display so can be read back conveniently.

It's a little bit of extra hassle, but since I already own the
Brailliant, it is definitely better than trying to buy a new display.
This debate between Humanware and Apple seems to be continuous, with
neither side taking responsibility for the problem.

Brailleing has never been an issue for me but the Brailliant BI40

Humanware promised that this update addresses the issue. I haven't
seen any improvement. If you have, please be specific and let us
know why you think this update improved the experience with the
BI40. Please also tell us what devices you are using it with, what
version of IOS are you using and how much memory is on each device.
This will help me when I deal with both Humanware and Apple.

 Thanks so much.

Hello everybody. If you’re reading an email message and want to copy and paste
the entire message, here’s how you can do it.

1. You must select some text so that the edit option is available in the rotor.
You can select some text with either the pinch gesture or a three finger
quadruple tap. It doesn’t matter how much text you select.

2. choose the Edit option in the rotor.

3. flick to the Select All option and do a one finger double tap.

4. Flick to the copy option and do a one finger double tap.

5. switch to the app where you want to paste your text.

6. Paste your text in the normal manner.

Accessibility of the Microsoft Outlook app

2015-06-26 Thread Grant
Hi all,

I love the feature set of the Microsoft Outlook app, but unfortunately I’ve
experienced some serious accessibility issues. When composing Email, I am not
able to review the text I’ve entered, nor move the cursor, using VoiceOver's
editing commands. As well, I am not able to review the list of attachments for
an individual Email, though I can go into the files tab within Outlook to view
a list of “recent” attachments for both incoming and outgoing messages. This is
on an iPhone 5S.

Has anyone found solutions to these problems?

Best,

Grant

Another option instead of using the edit option from the rotor is to do a
single finger double tap and hold on the text message you want to copy. This
should open a menu with one of the options being copy. You can double tap on
copy, open the mail app to compose a new message, go into the message body, and
do another single finger double tap and hold and select paste from the menu

 Bubble Witch 2 Saga

 9.
If you're reading this guide well after May 2015, you may want to run
a Google Search for the phrase most popular Facebook games and find a
more recent list of current popular games.

RE: Printers

2015-06-26 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ann,

What a kind gesture.

I can only give you a general answer as how each of them connects to the
Internet from home will factor a great deal upon what options are available.

Again generally speaking, if they use a WiFi home network, then purchase a
printer that has an Ethernet connection port on it and you should be good to
go.

Both iOS and Android phones are very compatible with Samsung and HP printers.
However, personally, I prefer Samsung printers as the hardware quality, in my
opinion, is much better.

I suggest that you get a laser printer as opposed to an inkjet printer. While
the initial cost of an inkjet printer is far less than a laser, by about $100
or so, the laser is much more cost efficient in the proverbial long run.

Again, generally speaking, in the USA, at least, you can expect to pay between
$150 and $200 for a nice Ethernet enabled color laser printer.

One more thing, some printers offer wireless printing, While such a setup is
very convenient, my experience has been that one must take more care to both
configure and maintain such a configuration.

Good luck and I am certain that whatever printer you purchase will make them
very happy.

Just in case anyone is interested, home budget is one app which does allow

like most of the US and UK banks are. The app is made by anisu, in case anyone
wants to take a look. They do have a free trial.

 Hello Everyone,

The following comes to us courtesy of SimpleHelp, as many of us are

Please keep in mind that the steps listed below were written for
