You might want to try to do a Reset All Network Settings in Settings, General,
Reset (at the very bottom).
Just make sure you have your WiFi password since when you do this and after the
phone reboots, you will have to reconnect to your WiFi.

Hey guys,

Alright, i am hoping you guys can help. Wondering if anyone else has this
issue and if there is a fix. When i launch my email on the phone, and when i
get to a message, i'll double tap it. I in about 99 percent of the cases can't
actually rad the message for atleast a minuge. After loading i'll swipe over,
and it says near the message body, it says in progress. This shouldn't take a
minute to load. I even have remote immages turned off. Anyone else experience
this and is there a fix?

Thanks,

RE: Unlocking Iphone 6?

2015-08-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Usually you unlock via iTunes and iTunes should display a message that it is
now unlocked. If you didn't see it the only other way is to ask a friend who
has an iPhone 5S or later (only those have the Nano SIM) and who is with a
different carrier to put his SIM into your phone. If you can make a call it's
unlocked.
OK, so I am not totally sure but I think actually the switch to Nano SIM was
with the iPhone 5 already and not just the 5S.

What browser/operating system are you using, both links worked for me and you

Ok, thanks, nice try. I get a "Browser not supported" error.

I found a reply on a forum which stated, put iMessage off altogether, then deal
with the contact, send them a message, then put iMessage back on. I note I
have two threads of messages off the same person, so hoping it is fixed now.

First, Tomek Wardiga, the maker of the Fopydo stand primarily used KNFB reader
in his testing for the design.

Second, I use the Fopydo stand with KNFB Reader all the time.

Thirdly, i used the document stand setting quite successfully with the Fopydo

Lastly, if they had taken any time to look at the web site, they would have
noticed the mention of KNFB reader and text grabber.

Perhaps they have not done any testing themselves, but I can assure you it
works perfectly fine.

The Giraffe Reader is over priced and extremely limited since it only fits a
small number of phones.

If you have room lighting do not have the flash on. Set it to automatic.

You may be getting too much light.

You might try raising the stand up an inch to see if that is the issue, again
depending on the size of the book/documents.

Re: follow-up on stand support from knfb

2015-08-28 Thread Richard Turner

First, Tomek Wardiga, the maker of the Fopydo stand primarily used KNFB reader
in his testing for the design.
Second, I use the Fopydo stand with KNFB Reader all the time.
Thirdly, i used the document stand setting quite successfully with the Fopydo
stand.

Hi Christopher,

I don't necessarily think the fact that all iPhones are now 64 Bit is a
particular reason for a party, of course these things go the way of
progress. My first 386 PC with 640 K of RAM and a 70 Megabyte hard drive
complete with 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch floppy drive also did good things for
me, but that is just the way of technology.

I wonder what the poor little 32-bit processor did to you to make you
wish for it's demise so much. For me, it was a great little processor in
it's day, and I still use it on my iPhone 4S. My understanding is that
IOS 9 will still support the iPhone 4S and the 32-bit processor. I
figured Apple would move on from the 32-bit processor entirely some day,
but I'm not so sure it wouldn't have been a good business model for
Apple to keep it around and compete in the lower end smart phone market.
I kind of wondered if Apple was going this direction when they re
factored IOS to perform better on low end devices. I guess that was just
done for the Apple Watch. Hmm, I wonder what processor the Apple Watch
is running? Either way, the 32-bit processor did nothing but good things
for me, so I'm not doing a little happy dance because it's going away.

Theoretically, this means 32 bit is dead as far as the iPhone is
concerned. To my knowledge, 32 bit is dead throughout the iOS device range

Re: New iPhones

2015-08-28 Thread Christopher Chaltain
The addressing limitation for a 32-bit operating system is 4GB. The math
bears this out, e.g. 2^32 is 4 GiB. The operating system may also need
to address and use some of this space for it's own use, such as device
drivers, graphics memory and so on, which means not all of that 4GB may
be available to the applications running on that platform, but the
limitation itself still goes back to a 32-bit system only being able to
directly address 4 GiB.

I'm not sure if Windows ever used this in it's operating systems, but
Linux supported PAE, which allows a 32-bit Linux kernel to indirectly
address more than 4GB of memory.

On 08/28/2015 09:52 AM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

Hi Brent,

The 4 Gb limitation, it's actually 3 Gb for 32 bit processors in a PC is a
Windows thing. It is my understanding that it's almost a given that the new
iPhones this year get a memory boost from 1 gb to 2 Gb and I'm sure that makes
quite a bit of a difference for certain apps, but how efficiently an operating
system is and uses available resources is entirely up to the maker of said
operating system.

I always thought that most of what 64-bit did was to lift the limit on a system
to only have 4 gb of ram usable. I don't think most phones are approaching that
yet. I think Apple could've chosen this route to differentiate themself from
others, and for other kinds of features they were able to have in these new
processors that do increase speed, but 64-bit kind of comes along with it.

it's day, and I still use it on my iPhone 4S.

Hi all
If what I read on Mac Daily News about the lack of an iPhone 6C plus the
discontinuation of the 5C is true, this year will be a very significant
year for iPhone owners. Why? All iPhones from the 5s up are 64 bit.
Theoretically, this means 32 bit is dead as far as the iPhone is
concerned. To my knowledge, 32 bit is dead throughout the iOS device range
as even the new iPod Touch is now 64 bit. I say good riddance to 32 bit!

follow-up on stand support from knfb

2015-08-28 Thread Larry Lumpkin
Here's what I just received from knfb.

The KNFB Reader has been tested on the Stand Scan Pro (

http://www.standscan.com)

and Giraffe stand. While it is possible other stands may yield acceptable
results, these are the stands we know to work with the automatic picture
taking

functions of the KNFB Reader.

fopydo stand not specificly supported by knfb

I just got an e-mail from the support folks at knfb which said that the
Fopydo stand wasn't one of the stands they calibrated for. They said they
would reach out to the developers to see if they would do it. Just thought
I'd post here.

knfb reader stand mode not working consistently

2015-08-28 Thread Larry Lumpkin
Hi. I have an IPhone 5s and Fopydo stand. I have room lighting on, flash
in its default on setting, and turn on batch mode. I place the phone on the
stand with the camera in the right place as far as I can tell and the
automatic beeps don't happen consistently. I can get the automatic mode to
function sometimes but not others. Can someone suggest what might be wrong?

Ok, thanks, nice try. I get a "Browser not supported" error.

I found a reply on a forum which stated, put iMessage off altogether, then deal
with the contact, send them a message, then put
iMessage back on. I note I have two threads of messages off the same person,
so hoping it is fixed now.

Thanks, BobH.

Deleting ringtones from IPhone 6

2015-08-28 Thread M.Nelson
In the past, when accessing your IPhone from ITunes you could manage your
ringtones. With the new version of ITunes I can not seem to do this. There are
some I wish to delete so if anyone has a solution to how I can do this, I would
appreciate the help.

iMessage

2015-08-28 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
Mrs had an iPhone, and so it was Ok to send her text by iMessage.

Now she's gone to Android, so I changed her contact to Not show iPhone by her
number.

But it won't forget and insists on sending iMessage, then giving a failed to
send error.

How do I stop this behaviour on my 4S, or my other 5S for that matter?

Thanks, RobH.

Re: Calling 9 1 1 with SIRI

2015-08-28 Thread Deidre Muccio
Siri does in fact tell you that there will be a five second delay before the
call goes through. Also I just tested it and I was told that even though
there's a location that they can detect from your call it will not be an exact
location and if you're capable it you should always let them know your exact
location

Thanks,
Jed

2015-08-28 Thread David Cleveland
I just installed the 8.4.1 update and it seems like the missing classic
ringtones are back. At least I now have old car horn and piano riff.

RE: placing the iphone on thefopydo stand

2015-08-28 Thread Larry Lumpkin
Thanks
Richard. I think I got it. I do have the tape on top. The phone rests with
the home button toward the back of the stand and the camera toward the circle
with the camera hole hanging out a bit? Thanks.

Subject: RE: placing the iphone on thefopydo stand

If you have the stand put together correctly, there will be a strip of the
micro-suction tape on the top of the platform. If it isn’t there, just pull
the tab out and bring it over to the other side and insert it so you have that
tape on the top.

The flat platform of the stand has a half circle cut out of it with a little
notch cut out in the center of that.

That little notch is to help you line up the camera.

The camera should be hanging about 1 inch in front of that little notch.

So, the phone and the document are pointing in the same direction, that is, the
short end of the phone is oriented in the same direction as the document.

As for your question about books, the short side of the book should be against
the base of the stand. Depending on the size of the book, you may have to
raise the height of the platform to get both pages of the book.

Without the Book attachment, you will just have to make sure and hold the pages
down on the corners.

You also want the camera pointing at the middle of the book so at the point
where the two pages meet.

I hope that made sense.

Richard

RE: opening emails on the iphone 6

2015-08-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Sounds like you have a very slow connection. Are you on WiFi or using cellular
data (3G/ or LTE) when this happens? Only time I experienced this is when I was
on vacation in a country where I had a very slow cellular data connection.
You might want to try to do a Reset All Network Settings in Settings, General,
Reset (at the very bottom).
Just make sure you have your WiFi password since when you do this and after the
phone reboots, you will have to reconnect to your WiFi.

RE: New iPhones

2015-08-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

2015-08-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Christopher,

I don't necessarily think the fact that all iPhones are now 64 Bit is a
particular reason for a party, of course these things go the way of progress.
My first 386 PC with 640 K of RAM and a 70 Megabyte hard drive complete with
3.5 inch and 5.25 inch floppy drive also did good things for me, but that is
just the way of technology.

RE: placing the iphone on thefopydo stand

2015-08-28 Thread Richard Turner

Richard

When I have the stand aligned in front of me, how should I place my iphone;
portrait or landscape? I am using a mofi juice pack.

Re: bragging on KNFB reader

This may be slightly off-topic, but it is regarding KNFB reader. In the
MacVisionaries podcast they mentioned that there was a free trial version
available of KMFB reader, but when I went into the App store I could not find
any button for anything but the paid version. What am I missing?

Re: New iPhones

2015-08-28 Thread Christopher Chaltain
64-bit will do more than just allow you to address more than 4G of
memory. You have twice the bandwidth to send data between processes and
threads, so assuming your applications take advantage of it, it will
result in greater performance.

Well, in this case nobody called me back because it doesn’t actually dial for 5

Just so you know, if you call 911, hang up even before it dialing, it goes
through anyway. I did this one time when I had my mother ill. I dialed 9121
hung it as fast as I dialed it and they called me back. Andy

Subject: Calling 9 1 1 with SIRI

Hello,

A year or two ago there was a discussion about how to best call 9 1 1 in a true
emergency situation. Many on the list expressed concern that their dialing
skills are maybe not so good and they were afraid that in a real emergency and
under a lot of stress they may not be able to quickly bring up the emergency
call screen from the lock screen and dial 9 1 1. At the time various apps were
discussed as literally dozens of them exist to help with this. Some are very
basic and others offer more features like dialing other emergency contacts or
making it easy to send one’s GPS coordinates to the 9 1 1 operator.

When this discussion took place, it was not possible to call 9 1 1 by telling
SIRI to “Call 9 1 1”. SIRI would inform you at that point that she couldn’t do
that. Recently I heard a Podcast where a situation was mentioned where a young
guy got pinned under his car when he was doing repairs and his jack collapsed.
Apparently he had his iPhone in his pocket and was somehow able to activate
SIRI and shout “Call 9 1 1”. My first thought was that this is nonsense since
it doesn’t work. Then I thought that maybe things changed so I simply tried it.
I told SIRI to “Call 9 1 1” and surprise surprise, SIRI replied “Calling
emergency services in 5 seconds”. Of course at that point I quickly hung up
since I didn’t really want to call, but it is good to know that one can now use
SIRI in case of emergency to reach a 9 1 1 operator. I think the 5 second delay
is a good way to prevent accidental calls and it allows one to try it out. Just
make sure you have a reliable way to hang up before the call goes through,
probably best with the Earpods where you can simply press the hang up button on
the headset remote.

Regards,

Sieghard

New iPhones

2015-08-28 Thread christopher hallsworth
Hi all
If what I read on Mac Daily News about the lack of an iPhone 6C plus the
discontinuation of the 5C is true, this year will be a very significant year
for iPhone owners. Why? All iPhones from the 5s up are 64 bit. Theoretically,
this means 32 bit is dead as far as the iPhone is concerned. To my knowledge,
32 bit is dead throughout the iOS device range as even the new iPod Touch is
now 64 bit. I say good riddance to 32 bit! RIP.
