2015-12-29 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone
I have various playlists now, most of which I have created on my phone.

I am looking for an option to delete a particular playlist and do not wish to
go into iTunes every time I want to do things!

Further to this, I do not want to lose the song that is in the playlist, nor do
I want to have to go back to iTunes to download the track once again. The track
is on my computer and in iTunes, but is not (so far as I can see) in my iCloud
collection since it was ripped from CD and I do not have iTunes match.

Is there a way to do this on my phone, please? Will The track they deleted
along with the playlist, as I'm thinking it will?.

Hello Michelle, this is how I'm only do that. What I call beep saying, I
normally hit the hold and accept button. Then if I want to navigate between the
two, I use the swap button. I also just recently learned, that if you want.1
color on hold or both colors on hold, want you look at the calendar of eight or
something of that nature, you can simply do this by holding down the mute
button. The swap button, slashing the buttons, Can be found after you hide the

2015-12-29 Thread 'Keinohrhasenfan' via VIPhone
Hello,

Does anyone know why push notifications don't work for Facebook on my iPhone 6?
On the iPhone's settings app, I turned on notifications / Facebook. In the
Facebook app, I went to settings / account settings / notifications / handy
(that's the word for mobile phone in German) and enabled everything. I got the
notification that no notifications were turned off. I also went to settings /
account settings / notifications and turned on everything: birthdays, pokes,
friend requests. I also checked on the Facebook website that everything is
turned on. Re-booting the phone as well as re-installing the app didn't help
either. Facebook notifications used to work just fine about a year ago but
suddenly stopped working without any changes. My iPhone's not jailbroken, and
I'm using the latest version of the Facebook app. Push notifications for other
apps work perfectly well. Same is true for Facebook notifications by email. Any
help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Alexandra

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
hi,
Just jumping in here and have to admit I don't have an Apple Watch yet. I
recently pre-ordered a buzz clip. this is a sonar device which will vibrate
when things are in front of me, put simply. now, I am wondering about the
possibilities of working with the Apple Watch. if, instead of a clip and a
device which is larger because it needs to vibrate et cetera, there could be a
small proximity detector set in a ring which could Bluetooth to my watch, The
watch could do the vibrating for me and all I would have to do is point…

it seems to me that we are entering the era of add-ons, albeit specific add-ons
for different disability related requirements, to work with our
watches/phones/iPads. I wonder if anyone from the buzz clip community are here
on this list? I would love some feedback, even if it's only in vibration form.

TimeBuz

2015-12-29 Thread Denny Schwab
Hi all,

I have been looking at the TimeBuz app. I think it is awsome that it
allows for getting the time in a non-audio way. My issue is that I
still have to navigate to the app itself, click onit, and then I can
double tap the button for it to give me the time in patterns of taps
on my wrist.

Does anyone know if there is a way to set it up to automatically tell
the time in the tap paterns, and not to have to navigate to the app
itself to do so?

Here is the appstore link:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/timebuzz/id993285729?mt=8

Thanks,

Denny

On your phone, in your list of play lists, touch the one you want to delete,
but don't double tap, just get focus on it.
Flick up or down with one finger until you hear "delete."
Double tap. The play list will be gone, but the tracks will not be effected so
you can still play them on their own.

Re: TimeBuz

2015-12-29 Thread Robert Carter
Hi Denny and list,

To setup the Apple Watch to check the time without having to always open
TimeBuz, open the Watch app on the iPhone and select general. Go to the wake
screen button and double-tap on it.Turn wake on wrist raise on and choose
always show most recently used. I would also change the sleep time from 15 to
70 seconds. This is also done on the wake screen settings. Once you have these
items configured, launch TimeBuz and if you want silent time checking, turn off
VoiceOver. Now when you touch the screen to wake the watch, TimeBuz will
automatically be available as long as it stays the most recently used app. When
you want to use the watch again with voiceOver simply triple click the crown to
start Voiceover and press the crown once to go back to the clock face.

to all,

I got response from someone at apple accessibility team. the person said there
are some issues that can’t expect to be perfect. I know what the person means
same with cars.

don’t forget ios upgrading, don’t forget any app being upgrading in app store
or iTunes store. when they are upgraded, there can be some bugs inside, you
need to fix or be patient for next upgrade or call apple accessibility as they
have team redoing to fix the problems.

there are some apps I was unhappy and I notified, and they said they would have
engineer team to fix the problems in some ways. biggest problem is ads are the
pests.

Double tap. The play list will be gone, but the tracks will not be effected so
you can still play them on their own.

Problem setting up familly sharing

2015-12-29 Thread Gary Robinson

Hi all,

I am trying to set up familly sharing on my iphone 6 and seem to hang
part way through the process. I can get as far as the "continue" link
on the page which gives you the option to use an alternate Apple id, but
once I tap on the link I just get an "in progress" message and
everything stops?

Have I missed out any vital prerequisites for familly sharing to work?

Thanks for any hellp

Gary

videos on an iPhone 6

2015-12-29 Thread Zoe Fiogkos
Hi guys, my husband who is sited got a free iphone 6 and for the most part
he is loving it. Even though I'm a blind user I'm successfully teaching him
how to use it, but I've run into 2 problems and I'm hoping you guys can
help.
I don't know if I'm having a brain fart, excuse my language or if I've never
done this and simply don't know how.
Problem 1 my husband took a home video and he wants to save it onto our
laptop. Using itunes how do we save the video onto our laptop so we can
delete it off his phone. His phone is only 16 gb capacity so he wants to
save things on the laptop. How do we do this.
Problem 2 we want to use facetime between us but on my phone which is a 6
plus I can't see him on facetime. When I go into my contacts for example
Kathy, voiceover says iphone text iphone call iphone facetime. But when I
go under my husband I only get text and call. Any ideas?
Regards
Zoe

my last word on abbreviations

2015-12-29 Thread Richard Turner
At the risk of opening up another debate about whether to report things to
Apple Accessibility, I just did a test of different voices with the issue of
abbreviations being pronounced as one specific expanded meaning.
As I understand it, all the English VO voices are from Nuance. American English
female, dubbed Samantha, British male, Daniel, Australian male, Lee, and Irish
female Moira.
In the MLB at Bat app, AL means American League,.
Samantha says "Alabama."
Daniel, Lee and Moira, say "al," like the man's first name.
The Siri Male US voice says "A l."
So, I do not think the pronunciation is controlled by Nuance unless they figure
the most common meaning of "AL," is Alabama. But if that is the case, the US
male Siri voice ought to also say Alabama.
So, Apple needs to work with Nuance or their programmers to fix it so VoiceOver
just says the letters and stops the behavior of assuming what the abbreviation
is supposed to mean.
Or, do what Windows screen readers do and create a user editable exceptions
dictionary.

Hello,
I'll give a spin to question 2. Is his iMessage/facetime ID a number or email?
Either ways, open facetime, and type which ever it is into the field, and press
call, or whatever the button is. That should work. As for the other, I'll leave
it to someone who has a PC.

RE: videos on an iPhone 6

2015-12-29 Thread Zoe Fiogkos
Ok that's strange, but it worked. I opened a text message from my better half
and then when I went into my contacts there was the option under his name.
Don't know why it would work that way but hey problem solved. Thank you so
much.
Does anyone now know how to help me with my video saving issue?
Thanks again
Zoe

Just find the phone in "computer", then copy paste / cut paste the
video into a folder on your computer.

Re: How do I search in iBlink Radio on the Apple TV 4 Gen?

2015-12-29 Thread Ann Smith
Well, I've had an Apple TV for going on seven weeks now. I love it. What I have
been doing, as I have been using the control center. Another words, I will
start the audio portion and I blink radio or anywhere else playing, then I will
reveal the control center and select airplay and then hit done. Hope that helps.

RE: videos on an iPhone 6

2015-12-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Zoe,

Photos and videos can be copied to a PC just like you would copy something from
a USB stick or SD Card. Connect your iPhone to the PC with the Lightning cable,
open Windows Explorer with Windows Key+E, find the iPhone which should show up
and you can browse to the images folder, find the photo and/or video you want
to copy and just copy and paste. You may or may not be able to delete it from
there as well, for me I somehow can’t delete pictures, others have said they
can, but once copied, you can always go to the Photos app on the iPhone and
delete the video there.

As for Facetime and iMessage, make sure he has this turned on in Settings and
also that he is connected to the internet either via WiFi or via cellular data.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: videos on an iPhone 6

Hi guys, my husband who is sited got a free iphone 6 and for the most part he
is loving it. Even though I’m a blind user I’m successfully teaching him how
to use it, but I’ve run into 2 problems and I’m hoping you guys can help.

I don’t know if I’m having a brain fart, excuse my language or if I’ve never
done this and simply don’t know how.

Problem 1 my husband took a home video and he wants to save it onto our laptop.
Using itunes how do we save the video onto our laptop so we can delete it off
his phone. His phone is only 16 gb capacity so he wants to save things on the
laptop. How do we do this.

Problem 2 we want to use facetime between us but on my phone which is a 6 plus
I can’t see him on facetime. When I go into my contacts for example Kathy,
voiceover says iphone text iphone call iphone facetime. But when I go under my
husband I only get text and call. Any ideas?

Regards

Zoe

don't recall running into any issues. I think this might have been under iOS 8,
though, so maybe this is a new bug in iOS 9.

Re: How do I search in iBlink Radio on the Apple TV 4 Gen?

2015-12-29 Thread christopher hallsworth
Why do that when you can Airplay before any stream takes place. In the past
maybe so, and some apps still support this functionality, but as of iOS 8 it
can be done system wide meaning any stream you play will be automatically sent
to an Airplay compatible device including Apple TV.

RE: videos on an iPhone 6

2015-12-29 Thread Zoe Fiogkos
Hi Sieghard
Sounds easy enough, that is how I copy and save my photos, so there shouldn’t
be a problem. I will try it when he gets home. Thanks so much for waking up my
brain to do this. As for the facetime, it’s very strange. I’ve checked all
his settings, he’s connected, facetime is on, etc.
And still I was unable to see the facetime option under his name in contacts,
however when another member suggested I view an imessage from him, I did so and
bang the option appeared under his name when I went into contact. Very strange
and I can’t explain it but somehow the problem is solved. Again thanks for
helping I really appreciate it. By the way I want to say thanks to you for
being such an active and helpful member on this list because I have learned a
lot from you just by reading your responses for help to various problems of all
the different members who ask for help. Sometimes you have solved my problems
or answered my inquireies

Without even knowing it. So I thought I would take this opportunity to send
you my sincerest thanks from the bottom of my heart. I wish more people were
like you and of course some other members on this list, who help without any
materialistic or financial compensation and you seem to enjoy helping and that
makes it even more special.

Sieghard

Any ideas?

Zoe

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread Jenny Wood
Good day all. Like a few others on the list, I was also fortunate enough to
receive an Apple Watch for Christmas. Yeah, I know there will likely be
another one out later this spring, but given our run of bad luck with various
necessary home repairs and other unexpected expenses, I’m not going to count on
our having the funds available if and when that happens. Also, because the
thinking is that there will be a new version released early next year, Best Buy
had the Apple Watch Sport for sale at $100-off. So between the watch and Apple
Care, we only (laughs at the word “only”), paid around $300. the savings was
actually a big help to us right now.

Anyway, so far, I am in love! Understand, I went into this knowing that the
Apple Watch is not intended to be a replacement for my iPhone, but rather, an
extension for quicker and easier access to certain functions. I have to admit,
I am an iPhone addict, and I know it. :-) I am totally thrilled about any
device that will reduce the sheer number of times I have to pull out my phone
throughout the day, and so far, the Apple Watch has fulfilled that wish.
Although, it’s taking some time to simply “retrain” my hands and brain to just
leave the phone in my pocket, or even in a different part of the house, because
I don’t *need* it with me all the time anymore. I do want it close at hand,
but not necessarily “in” my hand 24x7. So, I am writing this for those (like
me), who may be looking for feedback on the Apple Watch before they buy one for
themselves.

Here are a few handy uses I have found for my own watch just in the first few
days of owning one. First, I absolutely *love* that any notifications sent to
my phone automatically get sent to my watch when I am not currently using the
phone. This means that any “breaking news” alerts from CNN, NBC, WFAA, or
whatever other news stations I follow pop up on the watch, so that I don’t
feel compelled to stop what I am doing and pull my phone out every time I hear
it go “ding.” I feel much less conspicuous “glancing” at my watch real
quick to check the notification rather than wedging the phone out of my back
pocket. It literally, takes me a fraction of the time to check alerts now.
This also includes weather and lightning alerts. I am very dependent on
lightning alerts in my area, and this is about the most effective way of
notifying me as I have seen yet. This was especially handy this past Saturday
when the EF4 tornado came ripping right by us. My watch was blowing up with
alerts, and I was thankful for it.

Quick and easy access to messages, Email and twitter. I have used the messages
function a *lot* already! I don’t typically use the pre-written responses, but
I like knowing they are there just in case. I use the dictation feature
instead, which for whatever reason, seems to be about 75% more reliable at
translating my audio to text than my phone. I haven’t played with either Email
or twitter much yet, but I have explored them just a bit. I’m not sure if
there is a way to view mailboxes separately or not, because on the two or three
occasions I have looked at it, it was displaying mail from all mailboxes in
one. This isn’t a big deal of course, just one of those “it would be nice”
things. As far as twitter, I am using Twitterific, and I haven’t quite figured
out how to see my normal twitter feed, assuming there is a way. It only showed
me my latest direct message. I think I just need to play with it some more
though.

Of course, viewing my various weather apps such as Dark Sky, is very cool. I
religiously use the timer and alarms, and I have used it for making and
receiving quick phone calls on the fly. Tracking my fitness via the workout
and activity apps has been neat, though I would love to learn more about how it
detects certain motions so that I can tweak my goals accordingly. For my
actual workouts, I prefer to use RunKeeper, which can also be quickly accessed
via the watch. It’s nice to just launch it, start it and go when I’m ready.
Sometimes it feels as if it takes forever to get things going on the phone.
One of the simplest and coolest functions I have played with yet, is the
ability to control my music that plays on my phone via the watch. It has been
100% accurate so far on playing whatever artist, album, playlist or song I have

Blindfold Sudoku gesture problems

2015-12-29 Thread rhs
Hi,

I downloaded Blindfold Sudoku yesterday and am enjoying it. One thing I’ve
noticed is that it is sometimes hard to get it to recognize my gestures.

For example, when I bring up the screen to enter a number for a cell Sudoku
frequently does not react to my selection. I know I am “selecting” the number
I intend because Voice Over makes its selection sound but Sudoku does nothing.
After repeated tries, Sudoku will accept my selection. This issue does not
relate to selecting a number that is ineligible to be selected because I do
hear the buzz when that happens.

I also cannot get it to move by cell reliably. This is especially true for
moving up or left by one cell.

There are likely other examples, but these will do for now. Does anyone have
any suggestions?

Thanks.

Program for Personal Finances

2015-12-29 Thread Keith Bundy
I am looking for a program where I can keep track of a checking account and get
monthly reports of ssending. I do not need to srint checks with it.

I am looking for something that I can use with the iPhone and that my wife can
also access with an Android device. Does anyone know of a program that is
accessible with VO that would enable me to do these things?

I have heard some comments about Mint, but nothing recently. Any thoughts you

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Jenny,

If you choose the temperature as one of the complications on your watch, you
can go to your clock face screen and turn the digital crown. The time will
advance, and complications like the temperature and calendar will update with
the time. Press the digital crown to have it return to the current time.

I hope that helps.

Best,
Anna

Hello Jenny,
As far as email on your watch, just open up the watch app on your phone, swipe
to mail and double tap, then you are in the mail settings for your watch. One
choice you have is to choose which email account you want to see on your watch.
I like you enjoy having notifications on my watch. With the vibration on my
arm, I am guaranteed not to miss any notifications no matter where I am or what
I am doing.

Hope this helps!

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread Chuck Dean
Hi,
Yes, I noticed that the microphone on the watch is much better than the one on
the phone. The dictation seems to be way superior, and I love using it!

By the way did you know that those canned responses that are on your watch for
messages and emails can be changed to whatever you want? Go into the watch app
and look under mail, or messages, and look for the responses, and you can go in
and change them and put in anything you want including Emoji's etc.

Helping my Sighted Mom with her iPhone

2015-12-29 Thread Dani Pagador
Hi, Everyone.
I'm trying to help my sighted mom with her iPhone. I have an iPod
Touch and only use it to keep track of messages, do limited testing,
and e-mail.

I have several questions and am hoping someone can clue me in.

1) What is the sighted equivalent for VO gestures? Is there a quick
list I can refer to?

2) My sister, who has an iPhone as well but lives in CA, sends info to
me via e-mail. I see my Mom's phone number listed in the "To" field as
well, but when I ask her whether she saw the message, she says no, I
didn't get anything. Where do I look on her phone to help her find
what my sister sent? It doesn't show up in the iMessage app, and her
Mail account isn't set up. Ideas? (Mom and I are both in HI.)

Thanks, as Always,
Dani

Re: Helping my Sighted Mom with her iPhone

2015-12-29 Thread Michelle Bernstein
Hi Dani,

There really isn't a sighted equivalent to Voiceover gestures. If you are
fully sighted, you use the Siri feature to dictate text or to ask questions
and then you visually read the responses on the screen. The Voiceover is
usually never activated.

I would suggest that you show your mother how you use the Iphone with
voiceover and have her look at the screen while you are using it so
that she can visually see what you are doing.

With respect to the Mail app, it is easy to set up if she already has
another email account. If she doesn't have email, it might be a good idea
to set up the Mail app if this is how your sister is sending her messages.
I don't think that the mail app will accept email messages if there is no
email address designated for the mail app on her Iphone.

Hope this helps a little. Regards, Michelle Bernstein

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread Nancy Badger
Hello everyone, so, I took the plunge. I bought an Apple Watch yesterday. So
far I love it! Can anyone please tell me how to set up the various alerts for
notifications, messages, etc.? Are all these on the apps or are they in the
Watch app on the phone?
Thanks

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hello Nancy,
I just got my Apple Watch for Christmas myself, and I would recommend going to
the AppleVis website, and listening to all of the podcast about the Apple Watch
done by David Woodbridge.
They will help you learn to do almost everything you want to do with your
watch. Just simply do a search for watch, and you should find everything you
need.

As far as setting your notifications for your watch, just go to the Watch app
on your phone and double tap on notifications.
Here you can choose which notifications you want to receive, and customize them
specifically for your watch, or let them just have the same settings as on your
phone.

Hope this helps!

Chris

Is there a favorites option in the My Tuner Radio app on the Apple TV 4 Gen?

2015-12-29 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I've been searching for things to listen to in My Tuner Radio 3 on the Apple TV
4 Gen, and I'd like to add them to a favorites list. I didn't see this
available, however. I did see an options button while the stream is playing,
but selecting it doesn't do anything on my Apple TV, at least nothing I can
tell.

Any ideas?

Re: Benefits of Apple Watch

2015-12-29 Thread Jenny Wood
Hi Anna,

Oh my gosh, I am so embarrassed to admit that I am really struggling with
figuring out complications. LOL Maybe it’s just a little complicated for me,
or perhaps I am making it more complicated than it needs to be, but regardless…
I’m typically pretty decent at figuring this stuff out, but for some
reason, I’m just not getting it. So, I have definitely and successfully
selected my default location in the Weather app on my iPhone, and weather is
listed in “complications” within the Watch app on the phone, but I can’t seem
to figure out how to make it so that I can dial forward and backward in time to
see the progression in temperature. I did finally manage to somehow get come
complications to show on my clock face, don’t ask me how, but I’m not sure how
the watch decided which complications to show. There is one displaying the
temperature, but again, I can’t seem to figure out what I need to do to make it
so I can scroll forward and back.

Personally, I would love to get Dark Sky setup as a complication on my clock
face, which is supposed to show the temperature and rain percentages throughout
the day I believe, but I can’t seem to get it to show, even though Dark Sky is
listed in my complications on the Watch app. I’m so confused!! LOL I think I
need to find some sort of tutorial on complications. ;-)

Only way to know is to ask them or to start a message and see if it is an

Buying from amazon.ca

2015-12-29 Thread Eva Abbas
Hello Sieghard and all,

I tried to buy the Apple wireless rechargeable battery bluetooth keyboard
today from amazon.ca. I found it for only 25$! I wanted to buy it with my
visa credit card. They suggested applying for their credit card. I passed
that suggestion. I wanted to buy with my visa credit card. It kept suggesting
their amazon credit card. I managed to insert my visa credit card number
finally. It suggested gift cards and I don’t know what else. I tried to pass
that. I could not! What did I do wrong? How am I supposed to do it?
Thanks to anyone with amazon.ca experience who is willing to help

God bless

RE: twitter and notifications

2015-12-29 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Jed,

I use this feature, quite often.

In order to receive tweet notifications, you must first have Twitter
notifications enabled on your device. Assuming that you have this already
setup, do the following:

1.
In the Twitter app, locate the profile of the person about whom you wish to be
notified and select the Follow button.

2.
Just to the right of the Follow button you will discover a button labeled
something like Profile Options. Tap that button and you will be presented with
a list of options one of which will be to enable mobile notifications. Simply
select this option and you will be good to go.

That's all there is to it.

Good Luck and enjoy,

Mark

RE: Voice Dream Reader and browsing/downloading books?

2015-12-29 Thread R VanLant
Two additional questions on Voice Dream...
1) I'm curious of the advantages of using the built in speech option within
Voice Dream as opposed to using the two finger swipe down and letting my normal
IOS voice do the job. Other than being able to pick a different voice you may
like better, what are the advantages that I'm not seeing yet to using the built
in reader function?

2) Also, Bookshare used to offer a way to skim for New York Times best sellers
on their site. Can you find that same search option somehow within Voice
Dream? I didn't see if the other day when I was setting up my new Voice Dream.

Subject: Re: Voice Dream Reader and browsing/downloading books?

Yes, you can add books from book share. From the home screen or from the folder
to which you want to add your book share books, you should find an add button
down in the lower left corner of your screen. Double tap that. Then double tap
on book share which is also down in the lower left. You will then see a number
of choices, starting at the top with the search, which lets you type in a
search for a title or an author and then double tap the search button. You can
also select category and then pick the category want, or latest, which gives
you a long list of the latest books added to book share. You scroll through and
Double tap the download button you find next to the title you want to
download. Or, if you see a title you'd like more information on before
downloading, double tap the title, and on the next screen, you will find a
synopsis. If you decide you want the book, there is a download button near the
top of that screen. If you don't want to, go back and resume you're scrolling
or search. Deleting books is easy. When you have books either in a folder that
you're looking at or just on the main screen if you didn't make any folders and
have books there, you can find the title you would like to delete, then just
flick up with the rotor said to action, and you will be presented with the
choice to delete like what happens in mail. Double tap and you're done. The
book is gone. I can't answer your language question, as I have only read
English books in this app.

You may need to try all of your local news station apps. My nbc app was not at

try them all and see if you can get one to work.

Hi all,
Can anyone suggest an accessible app for getting local news? I've tried
breaking news, but can't figure out how to change the settings. Maybe there's a
way to do this in the news app already on the phone, but not sure about that.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
