RE: Frustrations with Dative Mail App

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Christopher,

I mostly agree although I think if Outlook fixed the text review issue for
Voiceover users it might be my mail app of choice as I think it's more
feature-rich than the native mail app. But that's just my opinion, the native
mail app definitely has been working great for me most of the time.

I've always thought the native mail app on the iPhone was outstanding.
I'm surprised how powerful and intuitive it is. I've looked for a better mail
app on both IOS and Android, and I've yet to find one.

I've always assumed the multiple threads with the same subject line had to do
with the mailing list software or how people were replying to list messages. I
didn't figure it was an issue with the native mail client.

I've never had trouble getting back to the in box after visiting another
folder. I just keep double tapping the back button (which has different labels,
such as the name of the folder you're in or mail boxes) until I get back to my
list of mail boxes and then I can double tap the in box.

Re: Cloud storage with two phones

2016-01-12 Thread Candy Lowe
Go to settings. Then go to messages. Then go to send and receive. There you
will see all of the telephone numbers and e-mail addresses that you are
receiving text messages from. Unselect the telephone that belongs to your
niece. This should solve the problem.

How to sync apps from the latest ITunes to my IPhone 6

2016-01-12 Thread Don Risavy, Jr.
I can't seem to either remember or figure out how to sync my apps that had
saved and or backed up from the latest version of ITunes to my IPhone 6 as
can see the apps on the screen within ITunes; but, can't seem to get them to
sync or download and install them to my phone.

So any help and or assistance will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.

Can no longer like or dislike videos with official YouTube app

2016-01-12 Thread Lynn Schneider
I am wondering if anyone else is having trouble liking and disliking videos
with the latest official YouTube app. Actually, I am having trouble with this
both on the iPhone app as well as the AppleTV. I did leave feedback on the app
in the Feedback section, but have had no response yet and the latest update did
not fix the problem with the iPhone app. I'm hoping someone can give me a
workaround, as I really do like giving recognition where it is do. Thanks in

RE: Scotia bank in Canada

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mike,

I sent a message to my contact this morning and below is the reply I received
this afternoon:

Hello Sieghard,

Happy New Year to you as well. Thank you for the reminder message and apologies
for the delay getting back to you.

I spoke with the ScotiaOnline Mobile team and they plan to fix the issue in the
next release. The next release is scheduled for March 2016.
In the interim, if you have access to a desktop computer with a screenreader,
you should be able to view your transactions via our ScotiaOnline web
application.
I will definitely share the fact that other customers who use VoiceOver on the
iPhone are also impacted.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and helping us to improve
accessibility for our customers with disabilities.
If you have any other feedback please feel free to reach out. Our accessibility
feedback email is accessibil...@scotiabank.com .

Best regards,

RE: Frustrations with Dative Mail App

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Apart from the more or less brief locking up after replying to a message in a
thread I have none of these issues with the native mail app. I don't necessary
know what to recommend apart from doing a full restore and to set up as a new
phone, but on my 5S which I am currently using again 9.2 is stabil and
responsive and when I had my 6S it was stabil and fast. My wife is experiencing
a bit of a battery issue for the last while, but that didn't start with iOS 9.2
and I assume it's because of some app she downloaded.

Re: Instant pot multi use appliance with accessible iPhone app

2016-01-12 Thread Deb Lewis
We just bought the smart Instant Pot and I have a few observations.
I have never used a pressure cooker. The recipes in the app are too
fancy and time consuming for the ost part. But they do give you an
idea of how long it takes to cook things which is helpful.
There are settings for lots of foods, but that's a little confusing
too. Poultry, for example, could be a few chicken brasts, a whole
chicken, a stuffed fowl of some kind etc. Cooking requirements are all
really different for those so I'm not sure why they have these vague
settings.
But everything we've made has been taty and it's a very accessible
product. Just a little confusing for the uninitiated because I think
the presets are a little meaningless unless I'm missing something.

Would you share the email address you have for the AIPoly team?
Also, the problem with submitting reviews is an Apple issue, which I have
reported a couple times to the accessibility team at Apple. I'd suggest

Re: AIPoly VS CamFind

2016-01-12 Thread Keith B.
I have just a couple of thoughts about Aipoly. I really believe they are on
to something, so I will continue to try to work with them. Most of us can't
remember how terrible OCR was in its beginning days - how even with the
best of programs we were lucky to get 85% recognition. And look where OCR
for the blind is now because we saw the potential, worked with
manufacturers, and refused to give up a dream. That is my personal thinking
about Aipoly.

Now for my frustration. I tried to submit a review on my iPhone 6. I could
rate the program and title the review, but when I got to the writing
section of the review, it completely kicked me out. I tried this on
multiple occasions. I emailed the Aipoly Team but have yet to hear back,
and this was the first day it came out.

If Aipoly truly wants to develop the potential of this app, there has to be
an acceptable way for us to give feedback. I don't do reviews in iTunes
generally, and, when I tried, I got nowhere. So, if anyone from Aipoly is
monitoring this list, some of us believe in you, but you have to find a
convenient way for us to communicate with you. We really are the key to
your success.

Hi Sieghard

That is exactly the same problem I am having, I will be sure to call Scotia

Like you said the app is very accessible, and only this bug makes it very
frustrating

Thanks for this information and if you find out anything that they will fix it

RE: Applewatch Activity app - how to get daily step count

2016-01-12 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Thanks, Ed.
It's the Activity app for me that's a bit fidgety when I try to get the steps
count and distance for the day. I like the access to this info on my watch, but
know I can get it on my phone if I need to. I'm holding off on Pedometer plus
plus for now, but may look at it in the near future.

Best, Keith

Hey Keith,

What issues are you having? Is it with Pedometer PlusPlus, or with the two
finger drag up on the first screen of the activity app on the Apple Watch?

If it is on the watch it is a little finicky for me as well. It seems to have
some trouble loading the steps, or even VoiceOver may skip over the step count
all together, an not really sure which. That is why I use the Pedometer
PlusPlus app as I can have the step count on the watch face.

I hope that this helps,

Ed

How to play the word game3000+

2016-01-12 Thread Anne Günther

Hi
I guess I'm overlooking something obvious, but as far as I understand
it, there's a word, and I have to choose wich meaning is the right one
from different choices. But when I'm at the end of the screen and try to
go back, I get always a new word, and a negative point for an unsolved
word.

What am I doing wrong?
best wishes, Guenni

Re: Apple TV for question

2016-01-12 Thread MamaPeach

Go to settings
Then to general.
Flic down until you hear VoiceOver say Date And Time, mine says set
automatically.
If you do not want it to set automatically, click to turn this off, and then
flick down to where it says Time Zone and click there. It opens up a
keyboard, so I am guessing you type in your location. Just putting in a zip
code does not work, I tried that. I put in my city too, and still couldn't
get it to work, so I set mine back to set automatically. Not sure how to use
this.

2016-01-12 Thread Donna
I know that you were able to get rid of the apps. Check Restrictions to comfirm
that the ability to delete apps is turned on. Settings, General, Restrictions,
will take you to where you need to be to check the setting.

DonnaNo, trying to delete individual apps that are not in my trash folder. I

Re: Kindle App

I've never done more than use it for reading, but it works very well for that.
I don't know about highlighting etc., but if what you want is a nice accessible

RE: Apple TV 4 remote

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Probably something we should report to Apple Accessibility. I very much like
the fact that I can just pick up my one little remote, push a button to wake up
the Apple TV and my TV also turns itself on.

This was happening to me too until I made one adjustment. I went into settings,
then to remote and devices and flicked down to Home Theater Control and set
that to off. Now my TV does not come on randomly.

I usually don’t turn off my Apple TV or, I guess, it would be more accurate to
say that I don’t manually put it in sleep mode. Usually I just turn off our
Sony TV. A few days ago I did this and an hour later or so when I was already
in bed and my wife was sleeping I suddenly heard the Apple TV come to life in
the living room and start speaking rather loudly. Our bedroom door was open and
it’s not that far away, fortunately my wife is usually a deep sleeper. Anyhow,
I went to the TV and used Light Detector to check and sure enough, the TV was
on because if the Apple TV wakes up the TV turns itself on. This is usually a
nice feature, but certainly not something one would want to happen randomly.
Anyhow, I turned the TV off and I know it was off because I did it on the
on/off button on top of the TV itself and Light Detector indicated there was no
more light coming from the screen. I went back to bed and then maybe around 4
am Voiceover started blaring again and it started reading the title and
description of the moview we watched that night. I ran over there to shut it up
and of course my TV was back on. I have a Sonos Playbar connected to the
optical audio out of the TV so unless the TV comes on it doesn’t work. I turned
it off again, but now I also turn off Voiceover when we are done using it, my
wife doesn’t need it anyways and this way at least it is not going to wake us
up in themiddle of the night. Hopefully this will get fixed, but of course if
you have automatic updates turned on then maybe this would cause the Apple TV
to wake up and hence the main TV wakes up.

Sieghard

Hold down your Home button on the Apple TV for two to three seconds. VoiceOver
will say Sleep Now. Then simply click on the Sleep button and the Apple TV will
go to sleep until you activate it by pressing any button.

RE: Scotia bank in Canada

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mike,

Yes, let them know since the more people who do so the better the chances it
will get fixed. Scotia Bank has an official accessibility statement so I'm sure
it will get done hopefully sooner rather than later.

I really liked it when Scotia Bank introduced Touch Id support. Since it's my
main bank I use a rather long and complicated password so being able to sign in
super fast with Touch Id definitely makes me want to use the app more although
if I am at home or in my office I still do all transactions like bill payments,
transfers, paying my taxes for the store etc. via the website because I like to
print the confirmation pages to my PDF printer and save them and that is still
easier and more efficient on the PC. But if I have to do something while I'm
away it's certainly possible and accessible.

Take care,
Sieghard

Hi Sieghard

That is exactly the same problem I am having, I will be sure to call Scotia
Bank and advise them of this.
Like you said the app is very accessible, and only this bug makes it very
frustrating

Thanks for this information and if you find out anything that they will fix it
let us know thank you very much

RE: AIPoly VS CamFind

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Richard,

I just Googled “Aipoly Vision” and found their website at www.aipoly.com
. Interestingly enough there seems to be no “Contact
Us”, a link to submit a feedback/support form or an email for support. However,
when I clicked on the “Press” link, I found an email address for press and
interview inquiries. It is t...@aipoly.com . Maybe
supp...@aipoly.com would work, but I agree that
while it’s nice to see that they are trying to get main stream media coverage,
they should be working closely with the people which the app is intended for. I
guess let’s see if Aipoly is still around in a year or two and how many updates
and improvements it has received.

Regards,

Sieghard

Also, the problem with submitting reviews is an Apple issue, which I have
reported a couple times to the accessibility team at Apple. I'd suggest
everyone else having issues submitting reviews do the same.

I have just a couple of thoughts about Aipoly. I really believe they are on to

programs we were lucky to get 85% recognition. And look where OCR for the blind
is now because we saw the potential, worked with manufacturers, and refused to
give up a dream. That is my personal thinking about Aipoly.

Now for my frustration. I tried to submit a review on my iPhone 6. I could rate
the program and title the review, but when I got to the writing section of the
review, it completely kicked me out. I tried this on multiple occasions. I
emailed the Aipoly Team but have yet to hear back, and this was the first day
it came out.

If Aipoly truly wants to develop the potential of this app, there has to be an
acceptable way for us to give feedback. I don't do reviews in iTunes generally,
and, when I tried, I got nowhere. So, if anyone from Aipoly is monitoring this
list, some of us believe in you, but you have to find a convenient way for us
to communicate with you. We really are the key to your success.

Hold down your Home button on the Apple TV for two to three seconds. VoiceOver
will say Sleep Now. Then simply click on the Sleep button and the Apple TV will
go to sleep until you activate it by pressing any button.

Re: Applewatch Activity app - how to get daily step count

2016-01-12 Thread Nancy Badger
Hi everyone,
I may have figured out something about the activity app complication and the
issue of finding out how many steps you have walked. When you tap on the
complication, it does not bring up the entire app. Once you have the activity
summary open as your complication, you have to double tap on it in order to
open the entire activity app. Once you have the activity app opened, you can
swipe up with two fingers to see a page that lets you know how many calories
you have burned, how many steps you have walked, and your distance. Try it out
and see if I am correct. I am learning this as well so I could very easily be
wrong.

What's Going On With Cortana?

2016-01-12 Thread BBS
Hi guys. I've been recently having weird issues with Cortana as of late. It
started on Saturday. When I try to start a general conversation with her, like
for example when I say hi to her, all she does is bring up a web search. This
was before I found out the same day that there was an update for her. So I did
the update which says it has enhanced voice capabilities and when I tried her
again, same thing as before. Anyone else having this issue? How do you activate
these enhanced voice capabilities if that's my problem?

Frustrations with Dative Mail App

2016-01-12 Thread Tom Lange

Hi folks,
The native mail app on my iPhone 6 is driving me nuts; in fact, IOS 9.2 on my
iPhone 6 just seems to get flakier and squirrelier as time goes by, with
general instability and/or focus loss issues et cetera, but I digress. Here's
what's going on with Mail.
1. The logg-standing focus issue when exiting from mail threads is still
around, which annoys me no end.
2. I continually see multiple mail threads with the same subject lines instead
of one consolidated mail thread containing the same subject line. Does that
make any sense?
3. If I move from my inbox to another folder, say, a folder containing saved
messages, then attempt to return to my inbox, the inbox is gone. Gone! I can't
get it back until I kill the mail app in the app switcher and restart Mail.
What the heck's going on here? Btw, a colleague of mine at work is
experiencing the same issue. I thought that maybe VoiceOver just isn't letting
me see the inbox, so I turned VO off and back on again. No dice.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Hey Nancey,

That is pretty much it. It seems to me that there is a lot of extra tapping to
see the info. I wish that Apple would add a complication for there activity
apps step counter, or allow you to change what tracking info you would like on
the complication.

Re: Anyone tried updated version of grub hub?

2016-01-12 Thread gs
This is a result of the combining of Seamless and Grub Hub. Quite frustrating,
isn't it? The seamless app has been this way for a long time. At one point it
became completely unworkable with VO and stayed that way for quite a while. At
least it is now usable. I would encourage everyone to communicate the issues.
Heading navigation was also not workable with Grub Hub for a while but
eventually began working again. Not sure if this was VO or Grub Hub.

I am not sure, by the way, if family sharing means you are sharing iCloud

only way to share said storage would be if the same Apple Id was used to
sign into iCloud, but then again I think there are probably all sorts of
drawbacks with this and given how inexpensive it is to buy a bit of extra

Carl,

You can indeed share an iCloud account. Simply set up family sharing and
have her iPhone access your iCloud account via the e-mail address you are
using and the password.

I personally have a quite different problem in that I loaned an iPhone 5 to
my niece and she and I are now receiving each others’ iMessages. I find the
problem is I can’t tell if a message is intended for my reading or not so I
open messages between my niece and her friends that I have no business

Re: Applewatch Activity app - how to get daily step count

2016-01-12 Thread Ed Worrell

Re: Apple TV 4 remote

This was happening to me too until I made one adjustment. I went into settings,
then to remote and devices and flicked down to Home Theater Control and set
that to off. Now my TV does not come on randomly.

Subject: RE: Apple TV 4 remote

Sieghard

RE: Apple TV 4 remote

2016-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,

Sieghard

Hold down your Home button on the Apple TV for two to three seconds. VoiceOver
will say Sleep Now. Then simply click on the Sleep button and the Apple TV will
go to sleep until you activate it by pressing any button.

Hi, Richard. The address Sieghard gave is the one I have - t...@aipoly.com.
I have yet to receive a response.
