Yes, I do use both the MBraille and the Apple
supplied on-board keyboard. I love MBraille a lot, in
fact most days. I think it is more accurate than the
Apple on-board keyboard. Maybe, though, that is a user

I am not too keen on using it as an extra keyboard,
because it's a bit tricky to use it in this way, because
of the other keyboards that are already installed. I
wish it could be on the rotor! Anyway, I quite often use

How recently have you tried it as a third-party keyboard? If very recently,
then I regret your bad experience. I, too, had thought I had wasted my
money on the third-party keyboard option, until I tried it again last
weekend. I don't know what made the difference, an MBraille or IOS update,
but it works well now for me. I am running it on an iPhone 6, with IOS
9.2.1. I do need to learn more about the Apple braille keyboard, just to
have another alternative.

Wow! I am so glad your MBraille experience is different to mine. I bought it
before iOS braille was introduced and as a standalone app it works well and
does have more editing features than iOS braille, but as a third-party
keyboard, it is the buggiest program I have purchased. There is absolutely
no support from the author at all.

For me the three finger swipe right to dismiss the MBraille keyboard never
works. This is replicatable 100 percent of the time. Seriously, if your
intrested in braille, learn to use the iOS keyboard and don't waist your
money on purchasing bugs. I have received better support from apps that were
free.

Cheers, Brett.

Thank you again for your very helpful reply. I now know at least that I need to
go and get some more headphones! If for any reason this does not solve the
problem, I will let the group know so that they would all know the outcome.

Subject: A STRANGE AND INFURIATING PROBLEM WITH MY 6SHH

Hi all,

This is somewhat complex but I'll try to keep facts succinct. ...

To give you some background, I recently upgraded to iOS9.2.1 and noticed a
problem after this. Howver, at about the same time I also had problems
inserting an iStick, which I succeeded in doing eventually. We also have some
strange interference with our TV which we think is posssibly an old pair of
speakers which need replacing. There's also some electronic gadgetry a short
distance from our sitting-room window which does not belong to us but we
sometimes wonder if this has caused problems.

My problem pnly occurs when using headphones, which I do most of the time as
Mike is writing nearby at the same time. Often Siri just chimes in, being
absolutely convinced that I really do want his help! (In desperation I even
turned him off, reset all connections and then rebooted, being sure to restrict
Siri so that I had to tap the Home button to ask for his attention. He now does
not respond to "Hey Siri" so I'm happy I've done this correctly.

However, in the sittingroom with Apple headphones the problem continues. My
music also starts playing without me wanting it.

To add to the complications, we have a set of speakers for our TV in the
sittingroom that are ageing and are a little faulty and there's also some
electrical contraption not too far from the window which sometimes appears to
interfere with our equipment.

I am thinking that I possibly could have damaged the sockets, or maybe the
problem has been caused by my volume being too loud. I have adjusted this,
since some were having problems with the volume settings after an iOS update a
little while back and I realise this could create a problem. Finally, there's
also a setting or two I recently altered, so I'll now try to set those once
again as before. One was the 3D Touch setting which I recently changed to its
lowest, rather than the set level in the middle.

I really don't know how to solve this one. I could go to the Apple Store once I
have less of a cold and can fit it in, but I'm not sure whether they can really
track this one down.

Does anyone have recommendations as to what I should do now, please?

Apologies for this ramble and the amount of information I felt was needed.
Thanks to those who have read all the way through! I do appreciate this and now
hope for some useful replies!

I am so glad that TriviaCrack Kingdoms is accessible. I like the interactive
aspect of the game. Is there by any chance an ad-free version of the game. I
hate ads, and if it is a game that I know I will play a lot I have no problem
paying for it.

So when I initially set up my apple newsfeed I added some things I no longer

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: A STRANGE AND INFURIATING PROBLEM WITH MY 6SHH

2016-01-26 Thread Alan Lemly
I'll chime in and agree with Sieghard. I use my Apple earpods all the time and
though they are a quality product, they don't last forever. I've gotten the
same errant behavior you described when I had earpods at the end of their life
and a new pair resolved the issue. I assume your phone is still under warranty
but if not and you have Apple Care, be sure to return the earpods for a free
replacement.

Good luck.

RE: MBraille Suggestion, was Re: How many use VO Braille Screen Input?

2016-01-26 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Hi Bret. I'm sorry you've had a negative experience with the MBraille app. I
use it on a daily basis and love it. There is a learning curve, but I've found
that the more I work with it the more I like it. I am on the MBraille email
list and find that when I've had questions I get help and support from others.
The developer, Harry Pasaman, is also on the list and is very much in touch.
BTW, I probably spelled Harry's name incorrectly.) If you are an avid Braille
user I encourage you to continue working with the app.
God bless!

Wow! I am so glad your MBraille experience is different to mine. I bought it
before iOS braille was introduced and as a standalone app it works well and
does have more editing features than iOS braille, but as a third-party
keyboard, it is the buggiest program I have purchased. There is absolutely no
support from the author at all.

For me the three finger swipe right to dismiss the MBraille keyboard never
works. This is replicatable 100 percent of the time. Seriously, if your
intrested in braille, learn to use the iOS keyboard and don't waist your money
on purchasing bugs. I have received better support from apps that were free.

Cheers, Brett.

Re: Trivia crack and trivia crack kingdoms!

2016-01-26 Thread MamaPeach
Not that I have found. I left a review on the Apple Store and rated them
lower than what I normally would because they do not offer the option to
remove the ads within the app. I would gladly pay to remove the ads in this
game as they are so frequent.

I am so glad that TriviaCrack Kingdoms is accessible. I like the interactive
aspect of the game. Is there by any chance an ad-free version of the game. I
hate ads, and if it is a game that I know I will play a lot I have no
problem paying for it.

Hi Paul,

Be sure that 8-dot mode is on for output by pressing Space with dots 2-3-6
until it's set to 8-dot uncontracted. Also, press Space with dots 1-2-3-4-5-7
until single-letter Quick Nav is off. Then the keystrokes should work.

Best,

Red Laser Problem

2016-01-26 Thread Edward Przybylek
Hi all,

Lately, Red Laser is not returning the same information it used to.
Previously, it returned the name of the item being scanned as well as a
variety of information about the product. Now, however, after scanning an
item, it simply returns a number and nothing else. I've looked at settings
in the app and iOS settings but nothing looks like it would solve the
problem. If anyone has some suggestions for a fix, I'd appreciate hearing
from you. Thanks.

Take care,

Re: How many use VO Braille Screen Input?

2016-01-26 Thread Paul Hunt
Hello Rajmund. I use an IPhone 6S. I'm using it with a Brailliant BI 40 Braille
display. I want to recalibrate it. Are the standard, touch typing and the
direct touch typing modes available when using the braille screen input feature?

Out of curiosity, how many use VO Braille screen input, and in which

Re: MBraille Suggestion, was Re: How many use VO Braille Screen Input?

2016-01-26 Thread Cheryl Lenartiene
Hi,
I am experiencing the same problem as Bret. I could swipe three fingers right,
all the way across the phone, and MBraille inserts an underscore, no matter how
quickly or slowly, or how long or short I swipe.I am proficient with VO Braille
Screen Input, but I would love to use the MBraille keyboard for its powerful
features. But the inability to dismiss the keyboard stands in my way.
Also, ever since I upgraded from my iPhone 5C to a 6S Plus, most of what I
write using the MBraille keyboard doesn't come out correctly. I use MBraille in
Away Mode, and I suspect that my hands are just too small. The iOS Braille
keyboard lets you calibrate the dot positions, and that's probably why I've had
a lot more success using it.
Finally, the split screen view seems to interfere with MBraille. For example, I
hold the phone in portrait orientation and double tap a text field to reply to
an iMessage. I then activate the MBraille keyboard and rotate the phone to
landscape mode, screen facing away from me. The MBraille keyboard is dismissed,
as the phone switches to the split screen view with contacts on the left and
conversations on the right.
If anyone has any suggestions to offer regarding any of these issues, I welcome
them. I would love to use MBraille as a third party keyboard, and not just in
its standalone form.
Thanks!

2016-01-26 Thread Regina Alvarado

Can someone give me instruction on how to ask for a game? I am through
Facebook, and my posts
go to friends. When I looked at starting a game, it looked like there was no
place to put in an email or name to bring up a person other than those on my
friends in FB. Maybe I should not have logged in that way? Can I re-do the app
somehow or am I stuck?

Re: MBraille Suggestion, was Re: How many use VO Braille Screen Input?

2016-01-26 Thread Brett
Hi,

I haven't given up on it yet. I do want it to work because of its extra
features, like being able to read what you have written without having to
dispiss the keyboard.

I am on the MBraille email list and have made Harry aware of the spellcheck
feature not working in the thirdparty keyboard and the three fingger swipe
right never dismissing the keyboard, but I have not received a helpbul reply
from him. For me the issue of not being able to dismiss the keyboard has
existed ever since the thirdparty keyboard became an option and has never been
resolved.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next update makes the app actually
usable.

Cheers,
Brett.

2016-01-26 Thread Nancy Badger
Hello,
I am trying to recognize a document from work that is about 37 pages. Every
time KN FB gets to about page 13 it crashes. The document as a PDF. I have
tried closing all of my apps so that KN FB has the most memory possible. I am
using a 6+ with 128 gig memory. Can anyone make any other suggestions? This is
important!
Thanks

Re: trivia crack anyone?

2016-01-26 Thread MamaPeach
To start a new game with someone on Trivia Crack:
On the main screen when the game is launched and all of the promo screens are
closed, double tap on New Game.
Next, select your game language by double tapping on the one you want (Mine is
always set to English, so I don’t have to change that).
Then select your game mode, either by selecting Classic or Challenge by double
tapping on your choice, (I always choose Classic, but that’s just me).
Then select whether you want your opponent to be Friends or Random by double
tapping on your choice, (I always choose Friends.
Then double tap on the Play Now button.
The next screen should give you a search box where you type in a friends user
name. or if you keep flicking you will see your Facebook contacts so you can
choose one of them if you don’t want to search for someone. After you type in a
user name, double tap on the search button on the bottom right hand corner. You
will then be shown the search results.
I hope this helps.

2016-01-26 Thread Richard Turner
First, in the mBraille settings, try turning on tutor mode and make sure you
are hitting the right place on the screen for the various dots.

Second, The underscore means that you are essentially tapping with three
fingers instead of swiping.

I tried really hard to duplicate what you are getting and the only way I could
is if I touched with three fingers and lifted up as opposed to swiping with
three fingers.

I don’t know how to describe the difference exactly. I think of it as a
glancing blow, or like I’m swiping crumbs off a table. I’ve never had any
problems at all doing the gesture to dismiss the keyboard. I use an iPhone 6
and a 5s and have never gotten an underscore accidentally.

I have not had access to a 6s plus. I didn’t know it had the split screen view
like iPads.

Can you get it in the split screen view and then select the mBraille keyboard?
Then, maybe it would look for a smaller portion of the screen for the dots?

That is just a wild guess.

Richard

Thanks!

there are virtual braille keyboards for Android, including MBraille.
Just from Googling, there's another one called the Super Braille

Out of curiosity, how many use VO Braille screen input, and in which
mode/orientation (screen away or table top)?

Re: MBraille Suggestion, was Re: How many use VO Braille Screen Input?

2016-01-26 Thread Cheryl Lenartiene
Hi Richard,
I appreciate your suggestions. I am a very experienced iPhone user, and I don't
have any trouble with swiping or scrolling, except when it comes to dismissing
the MBraille keyboard. I also don't have trouble typing in MBraille proper. My
issues are only with the third party keyboard functionality. I've done all the
usual troubleshooting steps, making sure the keyboard was enabled and full
access was on, reinstalling the app, cycling power, and so on. Like Brett, I've
had trouble dismissing the keyboard since the feature was first introduced.
However, my keyboard input problems just started with the 6S Plus. Although I
had trouble dismissing the keyboard on my 5C, I could at least type with it.
I appreciate the suggestion of dealing with the split screen. However, as soon
as I manipulate the phone even slightly to get into position to type, the
iPhone alternates between split screen and normal view, and the keyboard is
dismissed. So still stumped on this one.

That is quite the puzzle.
Have you tried locking the orientation?
I hope you can get it sorted out.

Reading with a Braille display in the Kindle app

2016-01-26 Thread Cheryl Lenartiene
Hi all,
I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I'm hoping there is a
solution. When I read Kindle books with my Braille display, as I near the end
of the page, the display cuts off in the middle of a word, and when I pan to
the right, I'm taken back to the top of the page. When I pan through the page a
second time, I can read normally all the way through and am taken to the next
page once I reach the end of the current page. This happens on every single
page of my Kindle books, causing me to read, or at least scroll through, each
page twice. Does anyone know why this is happening and whether there is a
solution?
Thanks!

I am not quite sure where your problem lies either but am trying things out
here since I'm now puzzled about your settings also as I'm using a 6 s with the

I'm not giving up though and will remember to come back to you if I think I may

are working properly, with the most options available. I'm not giving up
