If so, you may have identified a bluetooth bug. Maybe calling Apple Accessibility would be a good idea.

Thank you for the update on this.

They have been requiring photos since the increase in crime, around the

Remember, the primary purpose for meet up is so that people can actually gather

Please send your findings to supp...@meetup.com as I am confident that they

the real frustration is that the message that says this doesn't stick around

Hello Simon,

To be honest, I signed up on the website, http://meetup.com, where I completed
my profile and uploaded my photo, etc.

When I first joined Meet Up, there was no iOS app.

When I downloaded the app a couple of days ago, I simply signed into my account
on the app. Consequently, I have not used the app to actually create a new
user account.

A heads up for those using the MLB app on the Apple TV 4, turn screen saver off.

2016-03-01 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

Right now I'm listening to the Pirates Tigers Spring training game on my Apple
TV 4, and it sounds great. However, unless you want the screen saver to stop
the audio, you need to set it to never come on. This is annoying, but it is
how things work right now. If anybody knows of a workaround, I'd like to know.

Just letting folks know.

Have a blessed day, and don't work too hard.

Hi!
You're using split tap. I can't confirm on this one because I never
used it and because I have iPhone with 3D Touch.
Try to use standard double tap with single finger. If it's a trouble
for some reason, you can extend double tap speed in

RE: How to transfer Somethig Else games to iTunes to be coppied to my new iPhone (when I eventually get it)?

2016-03-01 Thread Alan Lemly
Ari,

I'm re-posting Mark's original message on this subject which was titled How To
Backup Your Third-Party VoiceOver Accessible iOS 9.x Apps and sent Fri
10/30/2015 9:32 PM. You can find his message following my signature.

Alan Lemly

Hello All,

I am cross-posting this to both V iPhone and Mac Visionaries.

NOTE 1:
This document assume that you do not use the automatic app update feature on
your iOS device.

NOTE 2:
The following applies to those who use an iOS device in conjunction with iTunes
on a computer, only.

As we have all experienced, there are times when updates to an app can break
VoiceOver accessibility.

In iOS 8.x and earlier, assuming that one had previously synchronized with
iTunes on a computer, if an update broke accessibility for a particular app,
one could simply delete the newly updated copy of the app from the iOS device
and then, connect the device to the computer and install the older version of
the app, back to the iOS device.

This was possible because in iOS 8.x and earlier, assuming app WiFi syncing was
not enabled, the synchronization process included copying any newly downloaded
app from the iOS device into the iTunes Library located on the computer.

As of iOS 9.x, the synchronization process between the iOS device and the
computer, no longer includes copying apps from the device to the computer.

For those of us who rely on VoiceOver accessibility, this new process means
that should an updated app break VoiceOver access, we can no longer restore an
earlier version of the app using the same time-tested method as we have all
come to enjoy.

Before I continue, I urge all of you to please contact Apple and express how
significant this change in the synchronization process affects those of us who
are blind or low vision.

The good news is that there is a simple workaround, so to speak, available to
those of us who want to insure that we always have an accessible copy of an
app.

Just update the app in iTunes before connecting the iOS device. Updating apps,
in iTunes on the computer, actually downloads a full copy of the app in the
.IPA format which, just as always, can be copied to any authorized iOS
compatible device.

Confused? Don't be; the following example should help clarify the process:

[BEGIN EXAMPLE]
DAY ONE:

1.
You're very happy with all of your currently installed apps. Your favorite app
is the Candle Shore BLOG.com app and you don't want to lose VoiceOver
accessibility to it, should it be updated.

2.
You want to make certain that you have a full copy of this accessible version
of the app on your computer, just in case any future updates break its
accessibility.

3.
On your computer, you open iTunes and navigate to the Apps area. You locate
the Candle Shore BLOG.com app and, Click the Update button. This will update a
full copy of the app on your computer to the same version that is currently on
your iOS device. Remember, you will only do this if you like the current
version that is on your iOS device. Because you like to plan for worse case
scenarios, you decide to perform such an update for all of your
mission-critical apps like those having to do with banking, GPS navigation, etc.

DAY TWO:

1.
Upon checking the App Store, on your iOS device, you discover that there is an
update to the Candle Shore BLOG.com app.

2.
You update the app and discover, to your dismay, that VoiceOver accessibility
has been broken.

3.
You immediately delete the app from your iOS device.

4.
Now, you connect the iOS device to your computer and, from within iTunes, you
install the older, accessible, copy of the app, back to the iOS device, just as
you would have done in iOS 8.x.
[END EXAMPLE]

The bottom line is that if you are currently running iOS 9.x or later, you
should manually update any important apps, on your computer, now, before any
future updates break them.

I could have sworn Mark Taylor posted instructions a while back on how to do
this with the later versions of iTunes 12 and iOS 9.

Trouble opening password editfields

2016-03-01 Thread Kathy Blackburn
I am using an iPhone 6+ running IOS 9.2.1. A month or more ago, I found
that I am having trouble entering passwords on login screens.
Editfields do not open when I double-tap them. I usually tap first with
my index finger and do the second tap with my middle finger. I have
tried touching the password editfield with a finger on my right hand and
tapping with a finger on my left hand, but that doesn't help, either.
Are others having this problem? Is the problem caused by not having a
phone that has 3D touch?

Gerardo,
You can probably already have such a widget in the notification
center, depending on which Twitter client you use. Some let you tweet
straight from the notification center. The items in the control center
strike me as more related to utilities and media, whereas the
notification center is customizable to what you want to see in there,
like news, weather, sports, stocks, and so forth.

Hi Mary,

The maximum distance with the scanjig is about 11.5 inches. You can have the
camera closer, but you cannot have it farther away. The max distance with
Fopydo is about 14 inches.

The ScanJig will be OK for smaller books. But the Fopydo is way more flexible.

Greetings,

I received the ScanJig Pro Plus today. That is the newest model of the ScanJig
scanning stand to be used with the iPhone or iPad for scanning documents.

The Pro Plus version adds a bracket that can be used to stabilize the stand so
you could scan books with it, using an iPhone.

For those who are not familiar with the ScanJig, I’m sorry, I’m not going to go
into lots of details.

But, it is made out of hard, molded, plastic and is a bit larger when closed
than the Fopydo or StandScan.

The ScanJig folds into itself and forms a box approximately 1.5 inches deep, 9
inches wide and 13 inches long.

When opened and set up, it holds the phone almost in a vertical position
pointed at the document, which is also in an almost vertical position.

The change in the Pro Plus version is that you tilt it up at 90 degrees, so the
document holder is flat on the table and the shelf that holds the phone is
parallel to the table. So it is like you tipped it up on its back.

Then, there is a bracket that fits in two rectangular holes in the bottom of
the ScanJig that braces it so it can sit steady.

Then, you can open a book and lay it landscaped on the table on the document
holder.

It sells for about $50.00 at www.scanjig.com

For some people, this might be a better fit than the Fopydo Scanning Stand for
the Blind with the Book Reading Attachment. I can’t say which is better as it
is really down to personal preference.

The Fopydo set up would sit on a lap more easily than the ScanJig setup would,
as one example.

Anyway, I hope that was helpful.

Richard

This does not mean, however, that Apple is just now introducing fragmentation
in its phone line. The 5S and 5C were essentially the same phone, but for the
fact that the 5C was the iPhone 5 with a plastic backing. I think this is a
very similar situation. The goal is to make it cheaper and easier to afford for
those in other countries, who have to buy the phone outright.

What I'm sayin

Is Apple "appears" ToBe introducin Fragmentation because FromWhat I've Heard

TheForthComin Apple iPhone, the iPhoneSE, will likely come
EquippedWith the SameSpecs as the recently Released iPhone6S&iPhone6S+

I don't SEE any Reason WHY Apple couldn't include 3DTouch IN the
ForthComin iPhoneSE if it doesn't have it

I say Fragmentation because Gestures will vary dependin on YourMobileDevice

The iPhone5C when Released failed to come EquippedWith the SameSpecs
as its iPhone5S, which were Released at TheSameTime & failed to
include the Touch ID Feature, which was Exclusive to the iPhone5S at the time

So, ... Yes, Fragmentation existed earlier, but 1 could argue the
Specs didn't warrant it

And, as far as I know Apple is still releasin
MobilePhones-MobileDevices with 16GB notably the
iPhone6&iPhone6+&iPhone6S+&iPhone6S

I'm not sure what you mean by fragmentation in this context. If
you're saying having 3D touch on some phones and not others is
fragmentation then Apple has already introduced fragmentation.
iPhones come in different sizes, some with 64-bit and some with
32-bit processors, some have finger print scanners and others don't,
and so on. IMHO, if you're thinking this is analogous to
fragmentation on other platforms, such as the Android phones then
I'd say the two ecosystems aren't even close in this sense.

In Apple, when IOS is released, it's released for all devices at
once. The hardware is all from the same company. Except for hardware
features unique to a device, you get the same operating system and
interface across all devices.

On Android, you have multiple hand set makers and you have to wait
for your handset maker or cell phone provider to release a new
version of Android for your device. Different hand set manufacturers
or cell phone providers may change the look and feel of your
operating system quite a bit from the stock Android experience.

I'm not bashing Android. The Android ecosystem has a lot to offer
over Apple's ecosystem. I just don't think that Apple releasing a
phone without one particular hardware feature isn't creating the
same fragmented ecosystem that you have in Android.

Unfortunately not; the items are added automatically when apps that
include such controls are installed; though it'd be neat if one could
add stuff to the Control Center! The first thing I'd add is a Widget to
be able to tweet on the fly, like we used to be able to do in iOS6.!

RE: ScanJig Pro Plus

Hi Mary,

The maximum distance with the scanjig is about 11.5 inches. You can have the
camera closer, but you cannot have it farther away. The max distance with
Fopydo is about 14 inches.

The ScanJig will be OK for smaller books. But the Fopydo is way more flexible.

Hi richard,
How about adjusting the height of the stand to make up for either print size or
document with? Any advantages or disadvantages there?

Richard
