Where do Downloads go in Safari?

2016-04-16 Thread Terrie Terlau
OK, this is really bizarre, but I have tried to download in Safari and I
have no idea where the downloads go. I feel like I am missing something
totally obvious here. Sometimes when I activate the download link, I get the
option to play the file. But sometimes I get info that tells me the file is
downloading. And then the file drops off the earth so to speak. Please send
some light my way on this question. I know it must have a very obvious
answer.

Best,

Terrie Terlau, AKA confused in Kentucky (smile)

RE: The story continues... Long lost iPhone 6S has finally resurfaced after snow melt

2016-04-16 Thread Terrie Terlau
Hi Sieghard,

Adding my interest and good wishes to those of others for your phone. Once I
lost a Braille ‘n Speak; someone in my apartment complex found it after the
snow melted (though not as long-lasting as your snow) and put it on a tree
stump. A friend of mine sqaw it there and brought it to me. I didn’t know about
rice then so I let it sit a week – and it worked well for the next few years.
All this is to say that your phone stands a good chance!

Let us know.

Hi,

just wanted to let everybody know that my brother finally found my iPhone 6S
yesterday. I lost it during a walk on December 22. It was just off to the side
a bit in a place where we spent probably a whole hour looking back then. My
brother said now that the snow and ice is gone he saw it almost right away when
he went back there.

How did you get it to show the keyboard's battery level? Mine doesn't show it

You can't fit this one in your pocket, but you can do caps lock plus M or
control option M depending on how you have your modifier keys set up in
VoiceOver settings. This will take you to the status bar where you can find the
battery level.

Great suggestion, Kramlinger,! I'll work on making a podcast of Inbox by

Would others also find this useful?

Summary: If you want a very thin keyboard with almost full-sized keys, silent
operation, a spill resistant covering, handy iOS-specific hotkeys and decent
battery life, check out the Logitech Keys-To-Go.
Dimensions: 5.39" by 9.53" by 0.24" That's right, it's only a quarter-inch
thick.
Weight: 6.35 ounces
Battery Life: Logitech states that the battery will last for three months on a
full charge, with approximately two hours use per day. Of course that is an
estimate. Full charge time is 2.5 hours and Logitech state that each minute of
charging provides approximately an hour of use.
In USE:
Despite it's diminutive size, most of the keys feel full-sized or almost
full-sized. Put it this way: I'm used to typing on a large ergonomic PC
keyboard, and it only took me a minute or two to get used to the Keys-To-Go. If
you're used to springy clicky keys, it may take you awhile to get used to keys
that don't travel nearly as far. I'm a fast touch typist, and have no trouble
going full speed on the Keys-to-Go. After using it for awhile, the full-size PC
keyboard feels strange and clunky in comparison.
The Keys-To-Go is not waterproof, but it is definitely water resistant. the
keyboard is covered fully by what Logitech calls FabricSkin, a protective
textured membrane.
Any liquid spills or crumbs can be wiped away with a damp cloth. The only part
of this keyboard which should not get wet is the top right-hand-side edge,
which contains the power switch and mini-USB charging port.
The Keys-To-Go can work with any device, but it is optimized for use with iOS
devices. From left to right, it's top row of 14 keys perform the following
functions:
1. Home screen,
2. App Switcher
3. search,
4. switch keyboard language,
5. show/hide virtual keyboard,
6. take a screen shot,
7. previous track
8. play/pause,
9. Next track,
10. mute,
11. volume down
12. volume up
13. Bluetooth connect/pairing
14. battery status
Heading left from Spacebar, the four bottom row keys are: CMD, ALT, CTRL, and
FN.
Right from Spacebar, CMD and ALT are duplicated.
Other iOS shortcut keys:
Fn + X = Cut
Fn + C = Copy
Fn + V = Paste
Fn + Left cursor = Select left word by word
Fn + Right cursor = Select right word by word
Pairing:
I have not had to re-pair the Keys-To-Go with my iPhone in weeks. As soon as
you pair once by turning Bluetooth on in iOS, pressing the 2nd from the right
key on the top row to pair, and tapping the Keys-To-Go in the list of detected
devices, you're done. Your iOS device should simply recognize and use
Keys-To-Go as soon as you move the power switch to On, as long as Bluetooth is
enabled in Settings of course.
Alternate Unit:
I first tried and returned the Logitech K480 keyboard. It was substancially
thicker, louder, not protected by a membrane, and I couldn't get it to pair
with my phone.
Price: The Keys-To-Go is about $70 US at the usual places - Apple online store,
Amazon, Wal-Mart, Best Buy etc.

10 Super Efficient Ways Inbox by Gmail Saves You Time

Gmail is good as ever, but could Inbox by Gmail be
the better choice for you?

Inbox by Gmail is Google’s most recent approach to email organization and
management. It takes some getting used to, but if it’s capable of giving you a
simpler email
workflow,
it’s worth adopting. And now you don’t even need an invite to use Inbox!

TIL you can mute in @inboxbygmail by pressing
M.

— Josh Todd (@JoshTodd) April 6,
2016

To help you decide whether you should switch over to Inbox completely, we’ll
show you some of the ways in which it’ll make email better for you. But first,
let’s show you where everything is in Inbox’s interface.

Where Inbox Options Are

You’ll find all of Inbox’s options and settings in one of five locations:

  * The toolbar that appears when you hover over a message – This is where
you’ll find the options to pin an email, snooze it, mark it as done (or move it
to the inbox)

[Image removed by sender. inbox-message-toolbar]

  * The pop-up menu that appears when you click on the Move to… icon (three
dots arranged vertically) in the toolbar shown above
  * The icon-driven menu hidden behind the Compose button – You’ll be able to
see the menu when you hover over the big red plus (+) icon at the bottom right
in Inbox
  * Inbox’s Settings dialog – To bring this up, click on the hamburger icon
at the top left in the Inbox interface, and in the fly-out sidebar that
appears, click on Settings

  * Individual bundle settings – To bring up the Settings dialog for any
bundle, hover on its link in the sidebar and click on the gear icon that
appears next to it.

[Image removed by sender. inbox-bundle-settings]

Now let’s see how Inbox saves you, the user, both time and effort.

1. Turns Your Emails into To-dos

With Gmail, you can send emails as tasks to your to-do
list app, but
with Inbox, your email is your to-do list. Inbox treats it as such because it
understands that most emails need you to take some kind of action.

Inbox allows you to mark emails as “done” instead of “read” or “archived”. That
may be a simple change of wording, but it does put a different spin on email
management.

I'm loving Inbox by Gmail. Making emails "actionable" made the experience
amazing for a To-Do List junkie like me – Mark
"Done"#InboxbyGmail

— Ashley Mitchell (@amitchellidea) October 29,
2014

Emails that you mark as done get shunted out of your way. It’s like checking
tasks off your to-do list and is the equivalent of archiving in Gmail. You can
also pin important emails to the top of your inbox for quick access to them.

2. Sorts Email Right for You

Inbox takes the onus of sorting your email and does a pretty good job of it. It
places similar emails in groups called Bundles.

When you’re setting up Inbox for the first time, you’ll get a prompt to choose
which type of emails you’d like to see grouped into a separate bundle. Trips,
Promos, Updates, Forums, and Finance are some of the bundle types that you can
choose from.

[Image removed by sender. inbox-settings-dialog]

Use the Create new… sidebar link if you’d like to create a custom bundle. You
can go back and tweak your bundle preferences anytime via Inbox settings.

3. Highlights Just the Data You Need

>From flight times to car rental info to order confirmations, Inbox is familiar
>with the kind of data that you’re usually looking for in your inbox. That’s
>why it keeps that important data highlighted at all times in scannable cards
>for easy identification.

Inbox also makes it easy to tell if an email has attachments, photos, inline
images, links to videos, etc., by making their thumbnails visible in your inbox.

If you mention a link, a phone number, or an email address while creating a
reminder in Inbox, its Assist feature brings up extra information that it
thinks you might need. We’re sharing this tweet as an example:

Another win for @inboxbygmail. I set this
reminder for myself a month ago, and Inbox knows when my pharmacy opens!

RE: bluetooth headset recommendations

2016-04-16 Thread Cristóbal
In general, the Edge can connect to two devices. In my case, I've got my
personal cell and business cell connected to it. I'm sure the Apple Watch would
work fine with it.
In my case however, I have my personal cell set to Voiceover Samantha and my
personal cell to the male Voiceover version whatever his name is just so I
can tell them apart as I get calls and other notifications from them. Don't
know what kind of voice options the Apple Watch has.

Does this earpiece pair with the iPhone and the watch at the same time? I want
one that can handle both at once. Is this possible?

RE: bluetooth headset recommendations

2016-04-16 Thread Cristóbal
It uses a power switch. Another reason why I went with this device over
others I played with. In general, this is why I'm partial to Plantronics be it
with the Edge or previous earpieces I've had. I don't like the ones where you
have to press and hold a power button to turn it on. With the Edge, a quick
flick of the switch and it turns on and connects to an incoming call like
that. Nice and easy.
I once bought a super cheap and totally nondescript bluetooth earpiece off of
eBay once and so far, it's been the only model where I've been able to turn the
mono earpiece into stereo with a separate earplug that connects to the charging
port on the main earpiece. A very useful feature that I wish I could find in
other Bluetooth earpieces.
I recently got myself a Photive bluetooth headset. Upwards of 10 hours
bluetooth, Noise canceling, microphone, etc. I like them a lot, but that was
before I came across the Plantronics Backbeat. Let me know how they sound. I'm
thinking of getting the Backbeat Pro version. Again, the Photive set is
perfectly fine, but I am noticing one thing where I can hear the interference
whenever Voiceover speaks. It's like a low frequency humming. I've come across
it with other bluetooth sets so it's not like the Photive is unique with this
quirk. I don't know if going for something that's supposedly more high end
would not have this issue though.
I think the Backbeat Pro is selling for around $165 US.

Hi Cristobal,

One last question. How do you turn the earpiece on and off? Is it a push button
or a mechanical switch/slider of some sort?
I wish it was already Bluetooth 4.2, but I haven't seen any headsets using it
which of course doesn't mean they don't exist, just I haven't found them yet.

Ah, I see. Yes, it does support play/pause. I wasn't familiar withthe the
term. I just knew that I could do this.
See from the website:
Features and Specifications
• Talk time: up to 6 hours and up to 16 hours with charge case • Standby time:
up to 7 days • Smart Sensor technology • Multipoint technology • P2i
nano-coating provides protection from moisture • Optional charge and storage
case holds 10 extra hours of battery power • Touch-sensitive battery check for
charge case shows both case and battery life • Headset can charge via Micro USB
or charge case • Wideband audio support (HFP 1.6) • Headset battery meter for
iPhone and iPad • Stream music, podcasts, GPS directions, and other audio •
Smart call routing • Triple-microphone for wind and noise canceling • Caller ID
using Phone Book Access Profile • Voice alerts and commands • Range: Up to 33
feet (10 meters) • NFC for easy pairing with Android phones • Bluetooth version
4.0 • Battery type: rechargeable non-replaceable lithium ion polymer • Weight:
9 grams • Charge time: 90 minutes for headset, 90 minutes for charge case •
Bluetooth profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP, PBAP, EDR
http://www.plantronics.com/us/support/kb/detail.jsp?vfurl=/articles/en_US/Product_Information/Voyager-Edge-Product-Information=us=All

There are some things that bug me about it. Don't get me wrong, but all in all,
I've found it to be the most complete single earpiece available. The call
quality is very important since I have a home office. If you've got someone
on the other end Whose aT-Mobile customer for example, the audio is like
Facetime audio call quality.
I tried the Jabra Supreme and ended up returning it. Too big for my taste and
a hassle to put on quickly. I like the Edge, because the earhook is quick to
put on and you can also twist the earhook facing downwards to act like a
kickstand against yur cheek to offer more stability if you dont' want it around
your ear all the time. If I'm at my desktop, I don't need to have it in and can
have it off to the side, but if I need to take a call, I can slip it on super
fast.
I got it for something like $95 US around 10 months ago, but it looks to be
down to $75 US now. Less if you don't want the little charging station.

I like it a lot except that is on the larger side as far as earpieces are

10 Super Efficient Ways Inbox by Gmail Saves You Time

Gmail is good as ever, but could Inbox by Gmail be the better choice for you?

Inbox by Gmail is Google’s most recent approach to email organization and
management. It takes some getting used to, but if it’s capable of giving you a
simpler email workflow, it’s worth adopting. And now you don’t even need an
invite to use Inbox!

TIL you can mute in @inboxbygmail by pressing M.

— Josh Todd (@JoshTodd) April 6, 2016

To help you decide whether you should switch over to Inbox completely, we’ll
show you some of the ways in which it’ll make email better for you. But first,
let’s show you where everything is in Inbox’s interface.

Where Inbox Options Are

You’ll find all of Inbox’s options and settings in one of five locations:

The toolbar that appears when you hover over a message – This is where you’ll
find the options to pin an email, snooze it, mark it as done (or move it to the
inbox)

The pop-up menu that appears when you click on the Move to… icon (three dots
arranged vertically) in the toolbar shown above
The icon-driven menu hidden behind the Compose button – You’ll be able to see
the menu when you hover over the big red plus (+) icon at the bottom right in
Inbox
Inbox’s Settings dialog – To bring this up, click on the hamburger icon at the
top left in the Inbox interface, and in the fly-out sidebar that appears, click
on Settings

Individual bundle settings – To bring up the Settings dialog for any bundle,
hover on its link in the sidebar and click on the gear icon that appears next
to it.

Now let’s see how Inbox saves you, the user, both time and effort.

1. Turns Your Emails into To-dos

With Gmail, you can send emails as tasks to your to-do list app, but with
Inbox, your email is your to-do list. Inbox treats it as such because it
understands that most emails need you to take some kind of action.

Inbox allows you to mark emails as “done” instead of “read” or “archived”. That
may be a simple change of wording, but it does put a different spin on email
management.

I'm loving Inbox by Gmail. Making emails "actionable" made the experience
amazing for a To-Do List junkie like me – Mark "Done"#InboxbyGmail

— Ashley Mitchell (@amitchellidea) October 29, 2014

I set this reminder for myself a month ago, and
Inbox knows when my pharmacy opens! pic.twitter.com/pUMliylPnc

— Danger Manley (@DangerManley) March 30, 2016

You’ll appreciate that Inbox is smart enough to not display sensitive data like
license keys in cards.

4. Speeds up Email Replies

For any email that’s currently open, Inbox lists three text snippets beneath
the message. These are replies crafted by Inbox to save you some time. Click on
any of the snippets and a new draft appears with that snippet pasted in the
body of the reply email. You can review and edit the email before you hit Send.

Inbox notes the changes you make and learns from them, crafting better response
options with each iteration. It also works its way up to more complex sentences
as you keep using the Smart Reply feature. Smart replies are available on the
web and on mobile.

The @inboxbygmail auto-replies are creepily accurate. AI is making impressive
strides. And saving me time. :-)

— Bart Verkoeijen (@bgever) April 8, 2016

5. Speeds up Searches

The problem with email searches is that you still have to look

Hi,

just wanted to let everybody know that my brother finally found my iPhone 6S

a bit in a place where we spent probably a whole hour looking back then. My

he went back there.

Re: Changing calendar views.

2016-04-16 Thread Sherrie
This is what I had saved in my iPhone files and it worked when my calendar
got off the list view. You do have to tap the Today button when opening the
calendar and that puts you within a day or two of the present one. Hope it
still works this way since It only lists days you have appointments and the
appointment is listed immediately following the date. this method was saved
in January of 2015.

Submitted by Rob on 11 April, 2014 - 06:17

Hi,

One possible work around:

1. bring up the list of months.

2. Select current month (or another month where you know you have an event).

3. You should then have a month screen with all the days showing. Before
selecting a day with an event on it, if the list button is shown as
selected,

unselect it with a double tap.

4. Having done that, Swipe through until you find a day where an event
should show. For example, it might say Friday 11th April, 1 event, then
double tap

on that day.

5. All events that you have on the calendar should then show up on the next
screen.

If the list button is selected on the month screen, tapping on an event
doesn't work.

Hope this helps.

The calendar has gotten really weird in iOS 9. I'm seeing one day, then a
bunch of hours listed. I can't seem to be able to find multiple days on the
screen like I used to be able to. I selected the list view button, but all
that gave me was days that showed up as headings, and underneath the
headings were all the appointments for that day. Navigating by heading in
this few produced very unreliable results, particularly when going up by
heading rather than down by heading. I would jump from one date to the next,
sometimes not even in reverse-chronological order, even though I was flicking
up I don't like either of these views. The way I used to have my calendar
set up is that all the days/dates would run in rows and columns across the
screen, but no events would show for a specific day unless it was selected,
and the events only for that selected day showed up at the bottom of the
screen. How can I get this view back? I'm running iOS 9 .3 on my iPhone 6S.

Hi,

Well, until you use the terminal clipboard, that is.

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Sieghard,

After my mistaking this app for Audible, I am taking nothing for granted
(smile). When I first downloaded the free audiobook, I received a message
stating that the title was downloading followed by a progress bar.

Upon subsequence launches of the app, when opening the book there is no such
message and the title begins playing immediately. Does this not suggest that
the book was actually downloaded to my device?

Just curious as to your thoughts.

Mark

This would, by the way, also explain why Mark can't delete the books,
AudioBooks.com is primarily a streaming service so the books most likely are
never downloaded to the Apple TV.
Audible offers the streaming of audio books via their website and I wouldn't be
surprised that there is no app yet because maybe an Apple TV app would strictly
be a streaming app and it's quite possible that they are still working on
getting it done (at least I hope so).
I wish you could also just stream books with the iOS app because while there
are of course situations where I would still want to download books like for a
long flight or drive where there may be no cell coverage, for most of my usageI
could stream the book.

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Sieghard,

Well, I definitely have proverbial egg on my face.

You are correct, I just went and looked more closely at the app and it is,
indeed, AudioBooks--not Audible.

Wow!

The icon looks very much like the Audible app, even with the same color scheme.

Wow!.

Well, I guess that’s' that (smile); in terms of Audible.

I apologize for any inconvenience my careless mistake caused anyone.

The problem still persists, however, but at least I will now be on a better
path to finding the solution.

I must have downloaded the Audiobooks apps many, many years ago and simply
forgot about having done so.

Again, please accept my apology.

Mark

Hi,

That is indeed interesting and I have a feeling Mark has mistaken the "Audio
books" app on the Apple TV fourth gen with "Audible". Audio Books is from
Simply Audio Books at www.AudioBooks.com and after just doing a Google search I
conclude there is not yet an Audible app for the Apple TV, Google comes up with
nothing relevant when I search for "Audible app for TVOS".
What I did find with that search were a lot of upset comments on an Amazon
forum from people who want Amazon to come out with apps for Amazon Video and
Amazon Music for the Apple TV.

Sieghard

RE: Difficulty activating WiFi Calling

2016-04-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Chip,

The message that you are receiving, informing you that you don't have the right
kind of account, is precisely why I am suggesting that a new SIM card is
necessary.

I can only speak as to my experience with A T & T Wireless.

Simply stated, not all SIMs are created equal. A few years ago, maybe 5 or 6,
now that I think about it, I ran into some kind of an activation service
problem. After countless attempts, I finally got in contact with a 5th level
tech support guy who immediately discovered the solution , said solution being
that a new SIM was required. I honestly cannot remember the tech jargon but,
effectively, it came down to the serial number or something on the SIM that was
flagged in some way that the A T & T network rejected as being not quite right
or too old, or something.

Anyway, recently, while on a lunch date, a friend of mine had a problem
activating her WiFi calling feature. We simply walked over to the A T & T
Wireless corporate store and I asked them to swich out her SIM. The tech
didn't even ask why. He just did it and, of course, I was able to activate her
WiFI calling service, on the spot.

That's about all I can say on it as to the why.

Of course I cannot guarantee that switching out the SIM will work for you but,
doing so won't cost you any money and it's can't hurt anything, right? (smile)
This is to say, you have nothing to lose but definitely something to gain.

Good Luck,

Mark

Why would you think this Mark? I too am having this issue, and I'd like to
know the why of it before I ask for it.
Fyi, I get a web page which tells me that due to my type of account, I cannot
use wifi calling; but phone support says there is no account type limitation.

Thanks.

It may be that you need a new SIM card for your phone. Were I you, I would go

Hi, All!

I've been grappling back and forth with AT trying to set up WiFi calling and
they can't seem to get the code needed for doing this. When I activate WiFi
calling, and enable it, I get a message saying that they can't set it up until

because many of you have set up this feature. Any help will be truly greatly

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ricardo,

That is interesting.

By the way, I have called the Audible tech support people, four times. Each
time I kept having to explain to them that I was referring to an Apple TV, not
an iPad, not a browser, not an iPhone but an Apple TV 4th Generation.

The fourth tech I spoke to admitted that she had not yet used the Apple TV so
did not know how it works. She also suggested that the tvOS version would most
likely not allow legacy account holders to log in. As I stated, that is no
problem.

After placing me on hold for over 15 minutes, just as I was about to
disconnect, she came back on the line and suggested that I try a single-finger
swipe from right to left on the remote touch pad. As I was not in front of the
device at the time, I told her I would try that. Later, when back at home, I
first turned off VoiceOver, then attempted that gesture along with every other
gesture I could think of; nothing worked.

I have done countless Google searches on this but cannot find any references to
this problem.

This could be some kind of bug in the app--the fact that they allow one to
browse and download free books without first having to log in.

Of course, I can always delete the app as doing so will also delete any of its
contents, or so I hope (smile).

Mark

Hi,

How interesting. I don’t see the audible.com app in my purchased history, nor
when I do a search for it in the app store on my apple Tv.

Hi

It does not appear in the “purchased” playlist. You have to view your Apple ID
from the store menu and it should be somewhere in there.

BookShare

2016-04-16 Thread Richard Turner
I just read the latest BookShare volunteer newsletter.

Bookshare now has over 400,000 titles and also over 400,000 members
worldwide.

With Voice Dream Reader, BookShare is rapidly becoming, if it isn't already,
the best source for books.

Also, because of the amazing work Winston has done in the area of dyslexia,
Voice Dream is in the top 30 apps in the education category in the Apple App
store.

Pretty amazing!

Hi,

just wanted to let everybody know that my brother finally found my iPhone 6S
yesterday. I lost it during a walk on December 22. It was just off to the side
a bit in a place where we spent probably a whole hour looking back then. My

he went back there.

Are you using iOS 9.3.1?

While I have not connected a U2, I have connected the Braille Edge and the
braille seemed far improved from previous iOS versions.

Friday) it will have been in rice for a week and I guess I’ll just
plug it in and see what happens. If it is completely dead I should
still be able to get a new phone from Apple with my Apple Care Plus
plan even if I have to pay whatever fee they now charge, I think it’s
$130 or $160 or something like that here in Canada. Still worthwhile
for getting another new iPhone 6S 64 Gb.

just wanted to let everybody know that my brother finally found my iPhone 6S

Hi,
While the phone has nothing to do with me, I do hope it works.

2016-04-16 Thread Mary Otten
No, you can't use a Bluetooth headset with the echo. You can, however, turn off
the always listening aspect if you don't want it to be on at certain times.
That is something that has been brought up by numerous commenters on this
device, the fact that it is always on, and Amazon could be spying as you say.

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mary,

I don't have an Echo yet. I must say after listening to the Podcast from the
CSun conference with the Amazon guy I am somewhat intriqued, but as always I
wish they packed in some more features. For example, I would probably like the
original, large Echo, but I don't like the fact it doesn't have a
headphone/line out jack. Does it allow you to use a Bluetooth headset with it,
that would be an acceptable compromise as being able to use it with a headset
would be more important to me than connecting it to an amplifier or receiver, I
already have my Sonos system for music and can easily Airplay to it from my
iPhone if I want to listen to an audio book in a particular room or across the
entire house.
Anyhow, while the Echo seems like an interesting and fun device, I still would
like to see an Audible app for the Apple TV. Unfortunately at this point many
Amazon services like Amazon instant video which is part of Amazon Prime in the
States are not available in Canada and that somewhat takes away from the
experience.
I like the idea of the Echo being always available even if I'm across the room
although it does also make me wonder about privacy and what theoretically it
all could listen to when you think it isn't. It's not like I would think Amazon
is on the moral high ground and absolutely beyond spying on its customers.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi Sieghardt,
You don't by any chance have an Amazon Alexa, do you? That could be an echo or
one of the newer devices. You can stream audible books in there and pick up on
your eye device or any other device that supports audible. Of course the book
would have to be downloaded onto the device in order to pick up where you left
off on your Amazon Alexa enabled device.

Yes all the Fitbits are accessible. Basically you just download the app and
then sync your Fitbit with it. If you need any help please write me off list.

RE: bluetooth headset recommendations

2016-04-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Cristobal,

One last question. How do you turn the earpiece on and off? Is it a push button
or a mechanical switch/slider of some sort?
I wish it was already Bluetooth 4.2, but I haven't seen any headsets using it
which of course doesn't mean they don't exist, just I haven't found them yet.

I got it for something like $95 US around 10 months ago, but it looks to be

Re: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Sieghardt,
You don't by any chance have an Amazon Alexa, do you? That could be an echo or
one of the newer devices. You can stream audible books in there and pick up on
your eye device or any other device that supports audible. Of course the book
would have to be downloaded onto the device in order to pick up where you left
off on your Amazon Alexa enabled device.

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

2016-04-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: The story continues... Long lost iPhone 6S has finally resurfaced after snow melt

2016-04-16 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Sieghard,

If the phone works, you should send the story to all the news outlets and
Apple. That would top even the most outlandish Timex watch story.

Hi,

just wanted to let everybody know that my brother finally found my iPhone 6S

RE: Difficulty activating WiFi Calling

2016-04-16 Thread Chip Orange
Why would you think this Mark? I too am having this issue, and I'd like to
know the why of it before I ask for it.
Fyi, I get a web page which tells me that due to my type of account, I cannot
use wifi calling; but phone support says there is no account type limitation.

Thanks.

Hello Esther,

It may be that you need a new SIM card for your phone. Were I you, I would go
to my local A T & T Wireless corporate store and ask them to switch out the
SIM. This should resolve your problem.

Hi, All!

I've been grappling back and forth with AT trying to set up WiFi calling and
they can't seem to get the code needed for doing this. When I activate WiFi
calling, and enable it, I get a message saying that they can't set it up until
I call a particular 800 number which I've done. The technician I'm dealing
with told me that VoiceOver might be the problem, but I don't think it is,
because many of you have set up this feature. Any help will be truly greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

The story continues... Long lost iPhone 6S has finally resurfaced after snow melt

2016-04-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

just wanted to let everybody know that my brother finally found my iPhone 6S
yesterday. I lost it during a walk on December 22. It was just off to the side
a bit in a place where we spent probably a whole hour looking back then. My
brother said now that the snow and ice is gone he saw it almost right away when
he went back there.
>From the outside the iPhone is in perfect condition, not a scratch on it. Of
>course after 4 months outside in the snow with temperatures as low as -30
>Celsius and going through the snow melt and a few rain showers since it is
>pretty unlikely that the phone is still working. I guess one good thing is
>that the battery should be deader than dead and there is definitely no
>electricity remaining. At this point I told my brother to just stick it in a
>ziplock bag filled with rice so that any moisture is absorbed. They live a
>long way from any town on a cattle ranch in northern British Columbia so it
>will not be until next Tuesday that somebody gets to a post office and at that
>point my Mom will send it back to me. By the time I receive it (most likely
>next Friday) it will have been in rice for a week and I guess I'll just plug
>it in and see what happens. If it is completely dead I should still be able to
>get a new phone from Apple with my Apple Care Plus plan even if I have to pay
>whatever fee they now charge, I think it's $130 or $160 or something like that
>here in Canada. Still worthwhile for getting another new iPhone 6S 64 Gb.

Sieghard

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-16 Thread Merv Keck
I saw audiobooks.com and I was wondering what the difference was between that
and audible. I don't have audible myself. Now I know they are two different
things. Thanks for enlightening me, smile!

Hi mark,

Have you tried the same way you get rid of apps, press and hold the touchpad,
then press the Play/Pause button? This is only a guess which leads me to my
question. How do get Audible on the Apple TV? I can only assume for some reason
it is not available in Canada because when I look in my purchased apps where I
see all apps I purchased on my iPhone and which are also available on TVOS it
is not there. When I search for "Audible" all I get is the app for
AudioBooks.com. Since we use the US version of Audible in Canada I am really
surprised it's not available.

Sieghard

Subject: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App
on Apple TV 4th Generation

Hello Everyone,

I am cross-posting this question.

Does anyone know how to delete an audio book from the Audible app on the latest
version of tvOS?

My situation is as follows:

Because I have a legacy Audible account, one that has not yet been linked to
Amazon, I can only login to my account using a username and password instead of
an email address and password. At present, the tvOS version of the app does
not support this.

Yesterday, after opening the Audible app in tvOS, I went to the accounts tab.
To my surprise, even when not logged in, one can browse and download free audio
books. I took advantage of this feature and downloaded one title. Everything
works perfectly accept that I cannot discover how to remove the book.

Any and all replies welcomed.

Mark

Re: Messages disappeared

2016-04-16 Thread Kathy Brandt
I have message forwarding between devices turned on, so, if I inadvertently
delete something, I have a second shot at it.

 Hi all,
Yesterday, somebody sent me two messages with voice memo audio attached. I
did not delete them. They were there yesterday evening. Today, I got two
messages neither of which had audio, both of which I deleted. And now,
those two other messages are gone. I can't search for them and find them.
They are simply not there. Yesterday, if I did a search for one of the
words in the title, the messages appeared. Now, they are simply not
appearing. How would a message get deleted if I didn't deliberately delete
it? I guess there is no way to get these back, correct? These were not
voicemails. They were messages sent from somebody's iPhone with attached
audio. Very frustrated as I need these things to practice with for Sunday
 church.
