To get new widgets, download an app that has a widget you want. Some apps, like
goodreads or Kindle come with widgets.

Hi,

At that botton of page 1, the widgets screen, there is an edit button, if you
click on that. You will first see the widgets you have active, if you flick to
one you want to remove, then flick up, you will see the remove option in the
rotor. Just double tap on the remove option on the widget you want to get rid
of.

To add widgets, you should see an add button from memory at the bottom of the
widget screen.

Hope this helps,

Brett.

RE: App Store Issues

2016-10-02 Thread Vicky Collins
I have the problem here on my iPhone 6s plus running iOS 10.0.2
as well. If I try to use dictation to find an app, I'm told what
I've dictated has been inserted, but the search field still shows
up as being blank, thus I'm not able to find an app that way.
Then, when I type in the text to search for myself, that text
does remain in the search box so I am able to perform the search.
I'm then shown the number of app results found, but I'm not able
to get to the actual list of results. Using Siri as a work
around is a very helpful suggestion, though.

Hi Robin,

If there’s a lag I don’t notice it. It seems just like the Iphone speaker to
me.

The ear-buds I would describe as squishy (the part which inserts into your ear
canal), with a small round hard nub which is for you to grip onto, in order to
guide it into your ear.

If you order from Amazon they are Prime, and of course returnable.

Thanks for the review – extremely interesting. What I’d like to know before
going ahead and buying them is whether there is noticeable or acceptable lag
when using VO on either your phone or Mac. If there was even a quarter second
delay that would be unsupportable in my experience.

Also it would be great to know what the in-ear buds are like. Hard like earPods
or squishy like other in-ears?

Thanks, Robin

Hi,

Has anyone experienced an issue where the App Store refuses to show results
for apps you type into the Search? It says In Progress, Loading, or some
such, but it never gets around to showing results. My Wi-Fi is working fine.
Everything else seems to be working well. Any tips would be appreciated. I'm
a loser still on iOS 9, don't really plan to update to iOS 10 until the rest
of you figure out the glitches. (grin) Thanks for any ideas on how to
jumpstart this thing.

Re: App Store Issues

2016-10-02 Thread Jewel
I updated from IOS9.5 to 10.2 a couple of nights ago, and so far, all looks
fine. I have had no
problem with search in the App store.
The first thing I did after the very lengthy installation process, was to look
at setting to see if
anything was different.
Now the first setting on the list is "airplane mode: off", but I thought that
the word * airplane
* sounded a little bit odd, and then I realised that voice over was speaking
strine: Australian
which is as close as vo gets to Kiwi, and had said aeroplane.
Not that I made a point of looking for it in 9, but under
settings/general/accessibility in 10, I
don't see rotor.

Re: accounting apps

2016-10-02 Thread Chris Chaffin

For column navigation, I turn on vertical navigation on the rotor. This will
allow you to just flick up or down to move by row within a column.
So while I am using the excel app, I always just turn my rotor to vertical
navigation, then I can swipe left and right to move along a row, or flick up or
down to move along a column.

Now to add vertical navigation to the rotor, just go to Settings / General /
Accessibility / Voice Over, swipe down to rotor, and then choose vertical
navigation in the list.
I hope this helps.

Note, if using an iPhone 7 series, to reset your phone, you have to hold down

Hi,

I know, I'm bombarding the list this evening. Forgive me. For anyone using
Feeddler, have you found a way for the app to download all articles to view
without Internet access? I'm about to be without Internet for a while and
would love to at least catch up on my 2,000 plus articles, preferably full
content. If Feeddler isn't cutting it for this sort of thing, I'll take any
other RSS reader recommendations.

App Store Issues

2016-10-02 Thread Joe

IOS 10 and "finish moving insertion point"

2016-10-02 Thread Jeff Clark
Hello,

I just updated to IOS 10 on my IPhone 6s. I am puzzled on the voiceover
message that reads "finish moving insertion point" as I try to enter text
into an edit box. This occurs in edit boxes with text messaging, Safari,
e-mail and pretty much anything I have to enter text into. Anyone know how I
may turn this off or manage this annoyance?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

RE: Vanishing voice

2016-10-02 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ann,

I, too, experience the same bug with my beloved Samantha Enhanced, voice.

Please send a message to Apple accessibility informing them of this bug.

The other day, I restarted my phone, while out and about, and had to wait until
I returned home so that I could redownload via WiFi.

The strange thing is, in my case anyway, is that when Samantha Enhanced is
lost, my phone switches to Tom Enhanced. (smile).

Hello,

I use Daniel enhanced as my default voice, but since upgrading to iOS10, Daniel
disappears regularly after I power up my iPhone in the morning.
The Daniel voice is there when I put in my pass code, but the next time I
unlock my phone to do something, Daniel has gone and a voice I think is Kate
has taken over.
I have to go into Settings to redownload Daniel enhanced.
I’ve reported this to Accessibility and I think the problem is a clean-up
routine that is too enthusiastic.

Has anyone else seen this?
In case it’s relevant, I have an iPhone SE with 64 GB.

Cheers,

Anne

So, I found this to be very interesting.

What is preventing someone to scan a few items, and slip smaller items into
their cart with out scanning?

They don't have to see a casheer to verify all items have been paid for?

I don't think the person at the door looks at all the items in the cart and
what was paid for that closely do they?

This just feels like an open door to someone getting away without paying for
everything if they can get away with it.

Anyways, not bashing, just some thoughts that came to mind.

For Sams Club members there is a new app called Scanb to go. It will allow
you to scan your items as you place them in your cart. It will keep a running
total and when you are done you can pay with your phone and show the receipt on
your phone to the person at the door, thus by-passing the cashier. It is
accessible but unfortunately knowing where they place the bar codes isn't.

Can someone tell me how to move an app from one folder to another? I can't
exit the folder where said app is to move it without pressing home, right?
 Thanks.

Re: Moving app from one folder to another?

2016-10-02 Thread Arnold Schmidt
After tapping the move app icon when in a folder, after it says choose a
destination, notice that there is an extra option. Swipe up and it will say
drop app from folder. Tap this, it will close the folder, and the app you are
moving is ready to be moved to its new destination.

I had tried re-installing it before sending my message, I just did the reset,
and it crashed 3 or 4 times before I could get this reply written. I am using
the Apple braille input to write this message. I don't know, I am going to
wait until the next MBraille update to see if it fixes it. I am glad it seems
to be more an individual phone issue.

MBraille has not crashed at all since I have upgraded to iOS 10.

Have you tried the common things like resetting your phone by holding down the
power and home buttons for 10 seconds, or deleting the app, then reinstalling
it?
Note, if using an iPhone 7 series, to reset your phone, you have to hold down
the power and volume down buttons since the changes to the home button.

Hi Jim.

If you are using iCloud your contacts should already be there. If you sign in
to your Apple ID, then make sure contacts is checked and you should be set.

Re: MBraille Not Working Well in IOS 10

2016-10-02 Thread Chris Chaffin

I am not seeing that problem. I just tested saving a file to Dropbox, and it
saved just fine. I even went further and open a file, added more text to it,
then resaved it to Dropbox, and it saved the changes like it should.
Have you tried to turn off the Dropbox setting, exit out of MBraille and take
it out of the app switcher. Then start MBraille from scratch and then turn the
Dropbox setting back on?
You might have to delete the app, restart your phone, reinstall MBraille, then
restore your purchases. Maybe something that tells MBraille that you have
purchased that feature has gotten corrupted.

Re: MBraille Not Working Well in IOS 10

2016-10-02 Thread Chris Chaffin

I do not use the third party keyboard, but use the app on a daily basis.

Like you, the newest message is near the bottom of my screen, so I just do a
four finger tap near the bottom of the screen, and then swipe left to go to the
newest message.
This is also a quick way of getting to the edit field if you are wanting to

Vanishing voice

2016-10-02 Thread Anne Robertson

Cheers,

Anne

Re: New Sams Club app

2016-10-02 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
Here in Croatia we have some shops with the similar system of
self checkout. It's not phone based ut it works.
The thing is you have two scales side by side. You put the
shopping cart on one and move item by item on the other while
scanning the barcodes on the items. After you done you insert the
credit or debit card, enter the PIN and you're ready to go.
The first scale measures the cart items weight and the other
makes sure the same weight is there when you move all items from
one side to the other. the weight of the cart itself is
  precalibrated.
I don't know is it possible to mov items off the scales, never
tried it but I'm quite sure there are some cammeras pointed in
  your direction xD.

It
is not that different from self checkout lanes, if somebody
really wanted to steel smaller items that way they can also
do so, all they would have to do is hold a smaller item
behind a larger one when they scan at the self checkout and
then put it back in the cart. I think all of these systems
count on most people being honest, but I am equally sure
that these big companies also factor in a percentage of
theft/disception. On the other hand they are basically
making the shoppers perform the work a casheer usually would
perform so they are saving money and I doubt people steel
more this way then any other way. If somebody wants to steel
they do it regardless and either get away with it or not. If
they get caught they typically get a slap on the wrist which
in most cases won't prevent them from doing it again on the
next day or the next week.

So,
I found this to be very interesting.
What
is preventing someone to scan a few items, and slip smaller
items into their cart with out scanning?
They
don't have to see a casheer to verify all items have been
paid for?
I
don't think the person at the door looks at all the items in
the cart and what was paid for that closely do they?
This
just feels like an open door to someone getting away without
paying for everything if they can get away with it.
Anyways,
not bashing, just some thoughts that came to mind.

  For
Sams Club members there is a new app called Scanb to go.
It will allow you to scan your items as you place them in
your cart. It will keep a running total and when you are
done you can pay with your phone and show the receipt on
your phone to the person at the door, thus by-passing the
cashier. It is accessible but unfortunately knowing where
they place the bar codes isn't.

Hi!
First of all log out of every iCloud service such as iMessage,

Than be sure to log out of Find my iPhone service and disable it.
After above is done, Settings, General, Restore or Rese or

Re: Voice Dream Reader and iCloud

2016-10-02 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi Christina!
I'll tell you my experience and maybe it won't be what you're
looking for but perhaps you can pull something useful from it.
I use VDR on daily basis since version 2.x or something, it was
back in 2012. or 2013. when I purchased it. I also have multiple
devices, iphone and iPod Touch and basically I could use the
iCloud Sync option but I don't. Why?
The first reason is because large audio books are also synced. I
don't read them often but when I do from time to time I'd need to
wait till 300, 400 or more megs are downloadet to the other
  device.
The second reason is I don't keep my library on the device. I
don't see a reason to keep the books I have read there to clutter
the space and there's tones of books I didn't read. I keep my
library on the Google Drive, it has by default 15 gigs of storage
and that's more than enough to keep my text books library. I can
access my Google Drive from every device I have including both iOS
devices and my PC. Downloading books from there is just a few taps
and some search. I never keep more than 50 books in the device.
The third reason for not using iCloud Sync is I usually do things
on the single device which is my iPhone. I have it with me
everywhere I go and when I get back home I just continue to read
from it. I find some advantages in doing things that way. If I'd
read the book on iPod Touch and someone would call me I'd have to
pause the iPod first than get my phone and answer. If this happens
when I'm reading on the iPhone itself, the book automatically
pauses and I just answer the call. There are more situations like
that one but it would take some time to write it all down xD.
The only thing I actually like about iCloud Sync is syncing of
bookmarks and reading positions but I don't actually need those
because I use only one device. The other thing I like is Autoload
feature but unfortunatelly I can't use it because iCloud app for
PC is kinda not accessible so I can't fill some books in the
folder and find them ready to roll in Voice Dream on my iPhone.
So, the conclusion is it is good for some but we can survive
without it as we did until version 4.x

  Hi,

I never did turn on iCloud sync with Voice Dream Reader. Now that some time has passed, I was wondering if you are loving it and if the wrinkles have been ironed out. I’d also like to know what things I might need to be aware of if I turn on the iCloud sync for Voice Dream Reader. I would backup my library before I try it. However, I’d like to know what you all think before I decide to try it.

Thanks so much,
Christina

Re: Need Some Navigon Help

2016-10-02 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Rob,

I’ve never seen a time limit on new maps for Navigon and I’ve had the app for 7
years. You can pay for more regular map updates but I don’t bother.
Often, when there’s a major update to the app, all the maps disappear and you
have to redownload them all.

Cheers,

Anne
