Re: Pre-paid data plan for iPhone in Germany?

Hello, what carrier does she currently have reason why I ask, is because to
take a bandage of the international ability to use the Internet as Germany is
covered if you have the T-Mobile one plan. This plan runs about $95 a month.

Pre-paid data plan for iPhone in Germany?

2016-10-21 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

So my better half will be visiting the in-laws later this year. She’s going
to be in Germany for roughly four weeks and will be taking her unlocked GSm
iPhone. I was wondering if any of the international travelers or possibly
German based members of this list can recommend a pre-paid cellular plan
that she can use while she’s over there?

Having the local number or the need to activate in German is no big deal for
her since she’s from Germany, but as we’re not terribly familiar with cell
plans, thus my question.

Calls/texts aren’t that much of a concern since there are options like
Facetime, iMessages, Skype/Hangouts and so on. It’s really more the data
plans that she’s interested in.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Trimming recordings in the voice memos app

2016-10-21 Thread Bill Gallik
Kimmer,

How far have you gotten with trimming?

I’ve done this quite extensively, but it has been almost a year since I last
attempted to do so. Trying to discuss this via e-mail could get somewhat
clumsy, but if you’re OK with it we could always speak directly.

I could give you the number of a conference service I control and we could
discuss trimming in that venue.

Hi Shawn,
Sorry, iCloud backup will also work. True enough, it will mean restoring and
erasing the phone, but the fact is, it will still work.

Re: question about the whatsapp

2016-10-21 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
I should add to what Shaff replied to you. The only way you can downgrade to
the previous version of WhatsApp is if you had that version backed up to
iTunes. If you don't, then as he said, you won't be able to downgrade it.

Re: texting issue

2016-10-21 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Terri. Technically, you could send texts with your iPad. What phone do you
have? If you look in messages on your iPhone, there is a setting there called
Text Message Forwarding. If you turn that on and you allow your iPad to do so,
it can send text messages. Try doing that and see if that works.

Re: faces in photos

2016-10-21 Thread Sherrie
What I noticed is that on my 6S when I went to albums in the photo app,
there was a choice for people. It then showed me groups of pictures of a
single person. I could then name the album with the person's name. It took
some deductive reasoning and the fact that I had labeled some pictures with
names so I was able to name them. I guess I could just have asked my
husband but I figured it out on my own. However, on my old 5 running 10.2 I
never could find that particular screen. And I don't know how to add other
pictures to the people albums when I think they belong there. But it is
interesting.

Sherrie

Subject: faces in photos

Greetings How do I get photos on iOS to recognize faces? Does it just use my
contacts and their contact photo, or is there some training process
somewhere? Also, it’s highly possible that I imagined this as a feature
somewhere. Maybe this is a feature on the Mac only? I’m really not sure. :)

Thanks,
Christina

Question about saving media to iPad

2016-10-21 Thread Jim Portillo
Howdy,

As long as I've been using an iPhone, I've never really dabbled in this
area, but now that I have an iPad for travel purposes, I thought I'd ask the
following.

I know many people download and save things like TV shows and movies to
their iDevices. I didn't want to use the phone for that to conserve battery
life and other things. Now that I have the iPad, how would I go about
getting movies and TV shows on to it?

Does everything have to go through iTunes, or can I get them from different
places?

Would I be able to access and watch things if I'm on an airplane or
somewhere where I don't have WiFi signal but still have AT service?

Where or how do I begin looking at what I can save and download?

Thanks for the help and I hope I'm starting a conversation others might like
as well.

Jim

Re: "no items found"

2016-10-21 Thread Julian
Hi,

This is definitely a bug with iOS 10. It seems to be related to having used the
spotlight search feature the workaround I have found is to bring up spotlight
search and hit the delete key on your keyboard. That seems to clear it up until
the next time you use spotlight search.

Trimming recordings in the voice memos app

2016-10-21 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi everyone,

Could someone explain to me how to trim a recording in the voice memos
app? I have a one hour recording from which I what to trim the first
two minutes, but I can't figure out how to change the values in the
beginning and ending times after I choose to edit the file.

Thanks for any tips.

Hi, Ari!

Thanks for your response. However, I do have Speak Notifications on in
VoiceOver, and it's only in the locked screen that the notifications do not
speak. Thanks anyway. Take care.

Forwarding messages via whatsapp

2016-10-21 Thread turab chimthanawala
Hello guys
I often struggle to forward messages via whatsapp especially group
chats. I use the double tap and hold gesture. But it often does not
work, in the sense that voice over continually keeps reading the
message rather than the dialogue box containing Reply , Forward etc.
options appearing. Also I have tried using the triple tap gesture but
to no avail.
Would like to know any other effective method.

Re: problems with activation lock and giving away one of my phones

2016-10-21 Thread Vicky Collins
Replying to my own message here with a follow-up.

First, although I didn't check my email until this morning, I got an email from
Apple yesterday thanking me for my documents proving purchase and advising me
that the product has been unlocked.

Second, I'm still going to follow the way below article and sign out of iCloud
before I erase my device in the future.

And, finally, although I'm not going to post the article here since it doesn't
come from Apple, I am going to post a link to a Mac Rumors article describing
the same type of problem that I had with the activation lock on my 6S plus:

Re: Issues with Notifications and Music Resolved!

2016-10-21 Thread englishrider91
Esther, I'm glad you got your music back on to your phone, and that
notifications are once more working for you as well. As for VO not
automatically reading the notifications that come in when your phone is locked,
I think I know what the problem is, and how you can fix it. If you go
to,Settings/General/Accessibility/VoiceOver, near the bottom of that screen,
you'll find a setting called "Always speak Notifications." You want to make
sure that this setting is set to on. This should fix your problem. Hope this
helps.

Thanks,
Ari

No, positively no, it is not spam. It is in reply to a query made of the

stuck in the USA when it should be in my hands in Gore, New Zealand.
