RE: problem up updated Dropbox

2017-02-24 Thread Alan Lemly
Beverly,

I continually download updated apps to my Windows 7 computer using iTunes
whenever I install an upgrade. Therefore, I have a history of various app
versions on my computer that I can pick from to reinstall if a later upgrade
breaks accessibility or has some other bug. I simply uninstall the problem app
from my iPhone and then paste the backup on my computer into the Automatically
Add to iTunes folder and the older app is reinstalled.

2017-02-24 Thread Beverly Hunter
After I updated my Dropbox app, it has started to crash on my iPhone 7 with the
latest iOS software update. I have uninstalled it about five times and
reinstalled it, but it still is crashing. Has anyone else had this problem? If
so, how did you solve it?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Arranging Favorites in Phone App

2017-02-24 Thread candyrlowe
Ralph, I have not been able to reorder my favorites in the phone app since IOS
10. I think in one of the updates, after 10, it worked and then when another
update came, it was broken again. If anyone is able to make it work, I would
appreciate knowing how. I used it fine before IOS 10.

closing the app on my 3 GS. I just checked and found that this thing is
running IOS version 6.1.6 which is the latest version of IOS I can run on it.

If you are using iOS 10 dot something, when you double tap on the edit button,
you should find a button to the right of the phone number in your favorites
that says "reorder", if you double tap and hold on that, then slide your finger
down or up, VoiceOver will say when you moved above or below another number.

RE: Airpod question.

2017-02-24 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Keith,

Fortunately, as far as I am concerned, the Airpods do not cancel anymore or
less external noise than does the wired Earpods.

Now, as I cannot stand headsets that fit into the ear canal, you know, the kind
that make you feel as though you are almost completely cut off from the outside
world, Airpods are a perfect match for me. Again, keep in mind that I do not
like to lose any ambient noise.

Hey Mark,

Thanks very much for this.

What is your experience with how much noise isolation they provide when in
noisy environments? Do they have sound quieting qualities, or is the external
environment sound readily discernable?

Hello Everyone,

As with many things in life, it's all a matter of opinion.

I can tell you that of all the 20+ Bluetooth headsets I've owned throughout the
years, Apple Airpods are my absolute, without a doubt, favorite.

I am amazed with how seamlessly they interface with iPhone. I absolutely love
the fact that I can effortlessly switch from a single-ear to two-ear and back
to a single-ear configuration, on the fly.

The auto-ear detection is as close to magic as I've yet experienced on a
Smartphone.

If I am playing a song or listening to a book/podcast with Airpods, all I need
do is to remove the Airpod from my ear and playback will pause and not resume
until I place the Airpod back in my ear. Amazing!

My favorite feature of Airpods, however, is how beautifully VoiceOver switches
between Airpods and iPhone.

With iPhone in my breast pocket, for example, and an alert comes in, that I
want to explore privately, I simply place an Airpod in my ear and sound
automatically transfers from the phone to my ear; when I'm done, I simply drop
the Airpod back into either its case or a pocket, and sound automatically
reverts back to iPhone.

This may be difficult to believe but last night, I panicked when I could not
find one of my Airpods only to have a sighted friend inform me that it was in
my left ear. I know, I couldn't believe it either. Talk about being
embarrassed; but they really are that comfortable. smile)

Mind you, I am using Airpods with iPhone 6 Plus, only, so I can only imagine
how much better they perform with newer iPhone models.

I think Airpods are well worth their price and that Apple, once again, has
ushered in a new era of technology with this most innovative accessory.

Hi Eric,

Good choice, I think the current Airpods are quite a rip-off and in fact I was
at an Apple Store today to buy a headset for my wife as an anniversary present
and I was looking forward to checking out the Beats Solo and walked away deeply
disappointed. I am in Canada so the Beats Solo here is $329.95 + taxes and
while they sounded OK I could simply not believe such a large and, according to
Apple, advanced headset has no volume control. First the Airpods have no volume
control and now the Beats Solo also has no volume control, if this is the
wireless future Apple invisions they need glasses. I ended up getting her a
pair of the new BeatsX since she prefers earbud style headsets anyways over big
clunky ones. As for the Solo I can only say that in addition to the lack of a
volume control the sound is also just OK, I mean it's good but not special for
the price. I have listened to many a headset that costs between $150 and $200
Canadian and think they sounded just as good.
Another thing I noticed is that the canadian price for the BeatsX is a lot more
favourible than that of the Airpods. If I am not mistaken the BeatsX in the
States are $149 and the Airpods are $159, a $10 difference. Here in Canada the
BeatsX are $179 and the Airpods are $219, a $40 difference in our currency. If
I use the current exchange rate and convert $149 for the BeatsX to canadian it
works out to about $195 Canadian, but Apple Canada only charges $179 so
compared to the US price it's actually a good deal. If I convert the $159 US
for the Airpods to Canadian it is $208 or $209 so at $219 Apple put a 5%
upcharge on it at least based on the current exchange rate. How a $10 US
difference works out to be a $40 Canadian difference when $10 US is about $13.2
or $13.5 I don't know.
All in all I think that currently you can get a much better bang for your buck

Arranging Favorites in Phone App

2017-02-24 Thread Ralph Supernaw
Hi,

Is there a way to rearrange the order phone numbers appear in my list of
favorites in the phone app? I tried the "edit" button at the top but still
couldn't figure out how to move a favorit.

Thanks.

Re: App switcher question

2017-02-24 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Peggy,

You do it from within the app. You can also go to the App Switcher, flick left
or right until you find the app you want, and double-tap.

Best,
Anna

Re: Airpod question.

2017-02-24 Thread Arnold Schmidt
To answer two posters questions at once, they can be used while the phone is
charging, being that they connect via bluetooth. As for noisy environments,
they are no better than the wired earpods, which is to say, not very good. One
can push the air pod into their ear further than it really is meant to be, and
it is better, but that isn't very comfortable, at least for me.

Update- RE: iPhone message says software update ready to install

2017-02-24 Thread Cher Bosch
Yes, under settings/general on the phone, it really did say downloaded and the
install button was available. I did eventually remember a dialog from Apple a
few days before which had two radio buttons re the update and an OK button. I
didn’t think that either button would be pre-selected- and hit OK since there
was no Cancel. Apparently that dialog was the culprit. Apple did say they were
pushing the update. I remember that I didn’t like either of the choices- but
obviously one must have been selected already. The Apple tech seemed familiar
with the dialog, but I had never seen it before. So- beware- and so will I ;)

If the update was small maybe it will download. Some minor iOS updates could be
quite small, but if it was a larger update then no, even if connected to AC
power no large files download via cellular data. I guess Cher would need to see
if under Settings > General > Software update the option is “Install”. If that
is the button then yes, the update would have downloaded.

I recently checked software updates as iOS 10.3 Beta 3 was available and for my
iPhone 6S Plus it was I think 369 Mb or something like that. I am not currently
at home and at first had WiFi turned off and while it showed the update was
available, the “Download and Install” button was greyed out and only once I
connected to an available WiFi was I able to download it

I amnot totally sure what Apple allows to be downloaded on cellular, but I
think it might be up to 100 Mb.

Sieghard

If your phone is connected to WiFi updates eventually all download
automatically and you are then notified that an update is available. You can
just go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap on “Install”.

I do recommend that before you do so you make a backup either iCloud or, if you
do iTunes backups then do that.

Also, close all apps and as a minimum do a reboot of your phone, I usually
prefer to do a Reset Network Settings as this will also do a reboot and it also
resets all network settings and may stop any processes which may have gotten
stuck.

Of course if you prefer to update via iTunes you can do so even though the
update was downloaded to your phone, I think for the most part minor updates
are OK to do over the air, but I also prefer to do major iOS updates like
whenit goes from iOS 10 to 11 later this fall via iTunes..

2017-02-24 Thread M. Taylor

In the native mail app, at the top level where it says Mailboxes, there's an
edit button. One of the options in that list is "Add
new mailbox", and you'll have to navitgate where to put it. There's a done
button when you have done all you need.

Thanks much for your response, Anna. For some inexplicable reason, it
isn't closing the app on my 3 GS. I just checked and found that this
thing is running IOS version 6.1.6 which is the latest version of IOS I

way if you have several apps open to flick from one app to the next app not by
going to another page but by flicking somehow I thought I had seen something, I
can't remember what I saw I thought it had something to do with the app

me this way I don't have to keep closing the pages and opening them.
Thank you very much. Peggy

2017-02-24 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I have an old 3 GS which I use as an internet radio. I can't recall
what to do after I get into the app switcher to close out some running
applications. I should have checked before writing this, but I think it
is running IOS 8 something. At any rate, if any remembers how to close
an app in the app switcher for older versions of IOS, please respond.

Thanks in advance.

RE: iPhone Seven adapter?

2017-02-24 Thread Jeffrey Turner
Found in the archives using the search "7 adapter":

Belkin Lightening Audio + Charge Rockstar Adapter

Alan Lemly Wed, 09 Nov 2016 13:27:17 -0800

 Hello List,

I purchased one of these $39.95 adapters directly from the Apple Store so I
could both listen to and charge my iPhone 7 using my wired earpods. The
adapter works well for the most part but I'm having an occasional issue with
it. I leave it attached to my lightning USB cable which is plugged into my
computer and at least twice, iTunes hasn't recognized my attached iPhone 7
when connected to the Belkin adapter. I've had to remove the adapter and
attach my USB lightning cable directly to the iPhone.

Other than that, the adapter has worked well with my iPhone and all the
earpod buttons work well with the adapter.

Think I solved my issue

2017-02-24 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

Well I believe I now understand why I can't subscribe to these networks.

I went to the discovery life go, site. I read the FAQ, and I learned how
to get it to work with my Apple TV. I went to the activate option, and
had to use my phone for this. It wasn't really accessible with Internet
Explorer.

Anyway, I went to look for my cable provider, and it's not listed. You
would think that Spectrum would be there. But I guess with the merger,
they obviously aren't yet. The sad thing about it is, I saw Brighthouse
as an option. That is supposed to be 1 of the companies that was merged,
and became Spectrum. So I thought that was a bit odd.

Anyway, I hope they add Spectrum sooner, than later.

Thank you,

Terri

Trying to describe to channels with Apple TV

2017-02-24 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

I want to subscribe to some channels with my 4th generation, Apple tv.

However, I am running in to a pretty big issue. I have installed, Animal
Planet go, Investigation Discovery Go, and Watch TNT. But every time I
open these apps, I can view the show titles on a couple of them, but
when I click on a show, it doesn't let me sign up. Actually, it no
longer says anything. I have tried swiping on the pad, but this doesn't
do anything either.

I do have a cable provider, by the way.

Does anyone have any idea, as to what could be going on?

Am I going to need sighted assistance, in order to do any of this?

Also, I know that there is a Discovery Life, Go, as it has been
mentioned more than once, on the channel.

However, I can't find it at all, when I search. I don't know why this
is, but it's rather frustrating!

Any help, or suggestions on any of this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri
