Hi Richard. I enabled text selection in the roter, and it is indeed
their, but I must not be selecting text correctly, because even if I
choose select all, when I go back to edit, there is still no options, as
in copy and paste! HELP!

Re: Copy and paste from an e-mail?

2017-03-04 Thread Richard Turner
You should have an option called text selection on the rotor. If you do not,
then go into the rotor settings and select it so it shows up.
Then, you can more easily select text, then you will find the copy option under
edit.

Richard

RE: filebrowser was: Re: Dropbox issue seems to be fixed

2017-03-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I purchased FileBrowser and when I open it it does see my Windows 10 laptop and
my external Dlink network attached drive. It says touch to connect and when I
tap on either one it asks me for a user name and password. I tried putting in
my Windows Id which I use to login to my Windows 10 laptop, I have it set to
use a PIN rather than the password, but this does not work. As for my network
attached drive I don't even know what the user name and password would be, it
does not ask for one if I access it via Windows Explorer, it just shows up as a
drive and opens up as any other local hard drive.

Sieghard

Re: Trouble in forwarding messages in whatsapp groups

2017-03-04 Thread Jan Kleinhans

Hi

There is no definite other way of doing this, and this problem comes from
prior versions of the app. Some messages will copy easier than others,
especially within a chat. I sometimes have to doubletap and hold for a few
seconds, holding your finger on the screen longer, then also wait a few
seconds before actually trying to find the menu that is suppose to pop up.
Another thing I also do is to doubletap and hold, and then tap once or twice
with another finger on the screen, which sometimes also brings up the menu.
This is indeed an inconsistent problem with whatsapp and I have reported
this many a time. Good luck.

Hi all
Hope this mail finds you well.
I struggle to forward messages from whatsapp groups. I use the double
tap and hold gesture but many a times the box containing Forward,
Reply etc. options does not appear and voice over keeps reading the
message repeatedly. Am aware of triple tap gesture but have been
unable to successfully perform it.
Looking forward for suggestions in this end.

Is there a reason to choose one over the other?

Another Dropbox Problem

2017-03-04 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi List,

I think we've covered the problem with Dropbox version 36.2 and its
Voiceover bug but I wanted to update you on what I'm now experiencing. I
deleted Dropbox 36.2 and reinstalled version 34.2 after the bug. Version
34.2 had been working fine for me but now when I place focus on the Dropbox
app icon, I get a "Waiting" response from Voiceover and double tapping the
app does nothing. I guess the problem that others have reported about being
unable to open the app have now reached me.

I'm curious whether others are getting this waiting response and just what
others are experiencing with the app. I can't even get Dropbox to uninstall
because when I go through the steps to uninstall it, the app is still there
after I confirm deletion.

I hope the fix comes out soon as reported because they've made a pig's
breakfast of this last upgrade.

Alan

RE: filebrowser was: Re: Dropbox issue seems to be fixed

2017-03-04 Thread Alan Lemly
Anouk,

Thanks for the reminder tip about the FileBrowser app. I second Anouk's
recommendation. Not only will FileBrowser let you link to your Dropbox account
and have access to those files but it also lets you access the files on your
local computer. With its built-in media player, you can access all the music
stored in your iTunes library on your computer and not have to worry about
filling up your device with that music. If you decide to use FileBrowser to
attach your local computer file system, I'd caution you to put a password on
the app in order to protect your data from obtrusive access. As Anouk stated,
FileBrowser is exceedingly accessible with Voiceover.

Hi everyone, A friend tipped me about the app filebrowser (not free but easy to
use and fully vo compatible). IU use that now to get access to my dropbox files
and for me it fixes the problem and is a nice alternative so i though I would
share it because it might help some other people out as well.
Have a nice weekend,

KNFB Reader for Windows 10 VS OpenBook 9

2017-03-04 Thread Richard Turner
KNFB Reader for Windows 10 in this first version does not hold a candle to any
other OCR solution on Windows!
Granted, I'm comparing an inexpensive option with a very expensive one, but if
KNFB intends to be a real option in the Windows computing world, they have an
extremely long way to go.
I have a Toshiba Satellite S 55 laptop running Windows 10 Anniversary edition
and a Canon LIDE 110 flatbed scanner.

I just scanned the same page with OpenBook 9 and KNFB Reader for Windows 10.
As far as speed goes, KNFB Reader and Openbook tied. They both start reading
before the scanner is ready for the next page.
KNFB Reader can export to DOCX files, while OpenBook still exports to DOC
files, the older MS-Word format.
When I open the KNFB Reader DOCX file, I get the warning that files from the
internet can harm your computer and I have to hit f6 to get to the point of
being able to make the document editable.
With OpenBook, it simply opens in compatibility view.
Both pages passed the spell check without any errors.
Now, for my pet Peeve.
The KNFB Reader file takes up 2.81 inches of the document.
The OpenBook copy takes up 6.37 inches of the document, which is correct. The
page has just over half a page of text.

OpenBook maintains the line breaks, while KNFB Reader does not.

For what it is worth, I also tested with the latest versions of TextGrabber and
Prizmo on the iPhone.
"" They both maintain line breaks and had no errors.
Prizmo has some new VoiceOver issues in their latest version, but Textgrabber
seems to be much improved.
I'll have to test that more. It is far less smooth for saving files, etc., but
I'm getting really tired of losing all the line breaks with KNFB Reader.
Richard

All you have to do is Google KNFB Reader and the website is search result 1.
Sorry I can’t send the link, but I have to leave for work now and it’s super
easy to find, actually, I think it’s just www.knfbreader.com, if I remember

Hi,

Thought I post this both on Viphone and the Jaws list as I just heard about
this special offer from the CSUN convention.

The KNFB Reader app for Windows 10 can be had for an introductory price of $20
US or, here in Canada, for $23.19 + taxes. Apparently this offer is only good
for today and tomorrow (March 3 and 4), after that the regular price will be
$99 US just as KNFB Reader for iOS.

I am not sure how often I am going to use this on my Windows 10 laptop, but for
that price this is a no-brainer for me and I grabbed it. This was the first
time I bought something from the Windows Store. I actually went to it from a
link on the KNFB Reader website so when the store opened it was already in the
right place. The Jaws touch cursor came on automatically and I could easily
arrow through the information and activate the buy button and confirm the
purchase. I wasn’t sure if I had to enter credit card information, but
apparently I have my Visa on file with them because it simply downloaded and
installed and a minute or so later I received an email receipt from Microsoft
which showed that it had been charged to my Visa.

I just opened it to look at the interface and it’s super simple, just a few
buttons you can tab through, like Take Picture, a combo box to select your
camera and a menu button. It showed the built-in webcam of my laptop since I
have nothing else connected, but I assume it would recognize a Pearl just fine
and work with it.

Regards,

Sieghard

Of course my luck, I just got around to upgrading to Kurzweil1000 14 last

If it takes away the step of switching between programs and keyboard

It’s on sale for $20.00 for the next couple of days. Whereas the regular
price seems to be $100.00 like the iOS app

That may be. You can change the source of the POI’s in the Seeing Eye GPS
application. You don’t have to use the 4 square POIs as your source… If you use
Google your POI’s are limited to what Google has in the data base.

That is one that does work. I believe there are others. I think I've heard
discussion of thermostats from radio thermostat.com.

Re: filebrowser was: Re: Dropbox issue seems to be fixed

2017-03-04 Thread Richard Turner
Thanks for sharing this Karla.
I've been in correspondence with them as well, but never got that explanation.
I've heard from at least three different people at DropBox; it is too bad they
do not talk to each other, or read the prior posts before responding.
But, if they finally have a fix for real, I'll be the first to thank them,
while still holding them accountable for the major screw up.
Not unlike the accountants at the Oscars, grin.

share it because it might help some other people out as well.

Re: Dropbox issue seems to be fixed

2017-03-04 Thread Carla Savage
Hi All,
I have been in regular contact with Dropbox support throughout this week. They
thought they had fixed it but after further testing, I informed them that the
so called fix hadn't worked. The support guy emailed me yesterday to say that
there is a fix on the way early next week.
So, watch this space!
Take care,
Carla.

now, was: New KNFBReader app for Windows 10

Regards,

Sieghard

solution.

Of course my luck, I just got around to upgrading to Kurzweil1000 14 last
month.

Anyway, for those who have downloaded it, can they comment on accuracy or if
scans are comparable to K1000?

Also, does this app work with Jaws unlike K1000 where you have to switch
between programs and keyboard commands?

If it takes away the step of switching between programs and keyboard
commands, I may still be interested.

It’s on sale for $20.00 for the next couple of days. Whereas the regular
price seems to be $100.00 like the iOS app

What happened to Drop Box's tech guys? I'd of thought that developing
updates while making sure they're is accessible would have been a piece of
cake for them?
Maybe they've got new people in there that have no clue on accessibility? Or
they're just so concerned on how the app looks?

I too, use Drop Box a lot and am completely frustrated big time!
It's a race between the blinks and the sightlings; as to the advances in
technology and keeping up with compatibility. The developers make updates
for better visuals, and the blind are left far behind. We catch up, only to
have the carrot move further ahead.

This is only the opinion of an ordinary average blind guy, but do you all
see what I'm saying?

RE: Dropbox issue seems to be fixed

2017-03-04 Thread Mike Ulrich
What happened to Drop Box's tech guys? I'd of thought that developing updates
while making sure they're is accessible would have been a piece of cake for
them?
Maybe they've got new people in there that have no clue on accessibility? Or
they're just so concerned on how the app looks?

I too, use Drop Box a lot and am completely frustrated big time!
It's a race between the blinks and the sightlings; as to the advances in
technology and keeping up with compatibility. The developers make updates for
better visuals, and the blind are left far behind. We catch up, only to have
the carrot move further ahead.

This is only the opinion of an ordinary average blind guy, but do you all see
what I'm saying?

Trouble in forwarding messages in whatsapp groups

2017-03-04 Thread turab chimthanawala
Hi all
Hope this mail finds you well.
I struggle to forward messages from whatsapp groups. I use the double
tap and hold gesture but many a times the box containing Forward,
Reply etc. options does not appear and voice over keeps reading the
message repeatedly. Am aware of triple tap gesture but have been
unable to successfully perform it.
Looking forward for suggestions in this end.

is any one else having trouble uploading larger recordings from ultimate VR?

2017-03-04 Thread goshawk on horseback
hello all,
is anyone else having trouble uploading larger recordings from ultimate voice
recorder?
what ever I try, dropbox, google drive, or one drive, larger recording files
just will not upload to them for some strange reason. this is extremely
annoying, as this was one of the main features that made this recording app so
appealing to me, the fact that it had another way to get the recordings it made
from the iphone to a platform that I could use to get them on to my PC, for
editing, and/or passing on, which I can never figure out how to do with poxy
iTunes.
all of the accounts have more than enough space for the files, so it definitely
seems to be an issue with the actual app, which I could really do with getting
fixed if possible.

I had taken DropBox off my iPhone. So, I just went to the app store and
installed the DropBox that was there. This was at about 4:45 PM Pacific
Time.

It still said it was version 36.2.
And, true to that version number, when you select files, it crashes and you
are back on the home screen.
I think DropBox support must be ingesting things they should not while at
work.

two separate updates in a short period of time? Can you quote version

Thanks.

2017-03-04 Thread Harry Bell

iTunes library. I now only subscribe to iTunes match and keep a separate copy
of all my iTunes library on my external hard drive or two!

I do not have any experience with this, but have you considered calling Apple,
and after explaining what is happening, get their opinion on what is going on
