get the emails once they comes to the inbox.

Has anyone any experience of using the Google Wifi mesh network? I understand
set up and various other functions are controlled by an app and I wonder if it

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Hi Keith,

Go to Settings > Mail, then tap on the top button with your account or accounts.
Once that opens you see your accounts listed, then there is an "Add Account"
button and if you swipe right once past that (last item on the screen) you find
"Fetch new data", this should be set to "Push" if you want mail to be delivered
immediately. I assume you have your account set up as an Exchange account so
that definitely supports push, I don't think gmail does at least not with the
native mail app.

Hi,

I’ve looked everywhere within Settings, it seems, and I can’t find the answer
to this question.

Can the frequency with which Mail is downloaded to the phone be changed? I’m
sure I used to get Mail messages delivered upon receipt, but now I’m getting
messages that Mail sent 13 minutes earlier has been received. Or 3 minutes, or
9 minutes. My old phone now being used as an iPod announces all Mail messages
immediately, but the iPhone 7 running 10.3 has the delay.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

Directions for using the Mic'd - Beautifully simple recording app

When first opening the app you have to choose to allow it permission to use
the microphone.
You can also choose to connect it to your iCloud account.

When you open the app for the first time after making the above choices you
will get to the home screen. Since there are no recordings in the player list
the button will be dimmed as is the settings button. These are also dimmed any
time you are making a recording.

Now when I open the app these are not dimmed since I have several recordings
in the Player list.
So to undim these buttons you need to create a recording by double tapping
the Record button. This starts a recording.
A pause button appears right after the Record button. This happens any time
you are in recording mode. (I use this to check whether it is actually in
Record mode.)

When it starts recording you can double tap the Record button to end the
recording and it is automatically saved. This is a bit confusing since the
Record button is used to start and also to end a recording.
If you choose pause, it just pauses the recording and does not end or
complete it.
After pressing pause, Press record again to continue the same recording.
Then press record to stop and complete the recording.
In either case when the record is pressed to stop the recording, it is saved
and The To Player and Setting buttons are undimmed. I have done this numerous
times to check it out.

I have mine set now to record upon opening the app.
I also set it to remember play back.

So now when I open the app, it begins recording. The player button is dimmed.
The Record button is there and a Pause button.
The Settings button is dimmed. These are always dimmed in recording mode.
I then tap the Record button to end the automatic recording.

Then I tap the Player button to go to my list of recordings.
The newest recording is at the top.
Tapping on the name of a recording causes it to start playing.
Then I touch near the bottom of the screen and swipe to find the labeled
buttons. These are Go to home screen, Back 15 seconds, Play, and Forward 30
seconds.
If the recording is playing The Play button becomes a Pause button although
it still says Play. It will start and stop the playing of the recording.
You can also stop and start the playing of a recording with the standard two
finger double tap.

Swiping left again brings me to the title of the recording that is currently
playing. Swiping left then brings me to the 3 unlabeled buttons. The one on
the right is Delete. The one in the middle is share which has three options
including options such as sending by message, mail, and importing to many other
apps on my phone. The one on the left does not seem to do anything. However,
these buttons are unnecessary since swiping up with one finger on a recording
brings up the share and delete options.

If you are recording and the screen locks it continues to record.

It will not record during a phone call. I tried opening it in automatic
record mode after answering a call but it did not record during the call.

I put this app on my iPhone 6S and also on my old iPhone 5. I chose to have
recordings saved to iCloud on both.
Therefore my list of recordings includes all the recordings made on either
phone.

I also emailed a few recordings to myself and it worked flawlessly.

I find this app to be very dependable since I have played with it quite a bit.
For the price, which is free at least for now, it is really great. Since I
found this app on the new version of the Apps gone free app it is probably
only free for a limited time.

I like it so much I put it in the dock with Phone, KNFB reader, and BARD.
I have use List Recorder previously but think it has not been updated and
might not work when IOS 11 comes out.

Here is the link to download it.

these buttons are unnecessary since swiping up with one finger on a recording
brings up the share and delete options.

I would love to find a recording app that makes transferring files to my
computer as easy as the Voxie app does. That one is still working on my phone,
but I don't know how much longer it will continue. I occasionally get a
message that it is out of date. I think it's been several years since that one
has been updated. It may not even be available in the App Store any more.

An app that would let me email the files would be fine.

The built-in voice Memos works better than this.

The free version of Audio Memos is better.

MTR, Multi-Track Recorder is also free, plus you can do multi-track recording.

If you swipe to them where you swipe right, the first doesn’t seem to do
anything I can tell, the second is the share button and the third is the delete

You can, however, also use the rotor, if you touch a recording and swipe down
the action rotor has Activate which starts playing the recording, Share and

It is a nice little app, I like the fact it only takes up 4 Mb and that it
has a watch app.

Maybe we could contact the developer and see if he would label the buttons,
also recordings say something like April 6, then also they say 04-06-2017 when
you swipe a second time, it’s the same recording just announced twice in
different ways.

I find that if I select to record on the watch and then play back the
recording it is very quiet, it’s almost like on the phone when something plays
via the earpiece and not the external speaker although I don’t think the Apple
Watch even has different speakers.

Also, I wish there was an option to choose whether you want to record in MP3
as well.

Lastly, I think if you record on the watch there is no way to pause and
resume recording which would be nice.

Sorry I messed up my last reply. I don't usually answer on my iPhone
because the dictation is tricky. Anyway, all you have to do to undim the button
is to tap the record button and then tap it again. I made a bunch of short
recordings that way just to test it out. It worked fine. The player button
takes you to the list of recordings. I really like the button that lets you go
back 15 seconds since I do a lot of transcribing. I usually use list recorder
full but it goes back by 10% of the recording. I am using iPhone 6S. Sent from

Supposing you want to open a thread, doubbletap on it, then when sweeping
right instead of reading all the stuff and reactions in the thread, the
voiceover cursor just simply remains in your newsfeed and you go on reading
other threads.
If you want to see whats in that particular posting, you have to put one

Andy,

I found the play button once. But it is no longer there. I can't get from the
record screen to the recordings list, because the "to Player" and "to Settings"
buttons are dimmed, and I can't seem to get them undimmed.

I don't think this will be a reliable app for me.

If you swipe to them where you swipe right, the first doesn’t seem to do
anything I can tell, the second is the share button and the third is the delete
button.

You can, however, also use the rotor, if you touch a recording and swipe down
the action rotor has Activate which starts playing the recording, Share and
Delete.

It is a nice little app, I like the fact it only takes up 4 Mb and that it has
a watch app.

Maybe we could contact the developer and see if he would label the buttons,
also recordings say something like April 6, then also they say 04-06-2017 when
you swipe a second time, it’s the same recording just announced twice in
different ways.

I find that if I select to record on the watch and then play back the recording
it is very quiet, it’s almost like on the phone when something plays via the
earpiece and not the external speaker although I don’t think the Apple Watch
even has different speakers.

Also, I wish there was an option to choose whether you want to record in MP3 as
well.

Lastly, I think if you record on the watch there is no way to pause and resume
recording which would be nice.

Sieghard

Sorry I messed up my last reply. I don't usually answer on my iPhone because
the dictation is tricky. Anyway, all you have to do to undim the button is to
tap the record button and then tap it again. I made a bunch of short recordings
that way just to test it out. It worked fine. The player button takes you to
the list of recordings. I really like the button that lets you go back 15
seconds since I do a lot of transcribing. I usually use list recorder full but
it goes back by 10% of the recording. I am using iPhone 6S. Sent from Sherrie's

Re: VoiceOver Reads Email, Please Help

2017-04-08 Thread rajmund
hi, settings, notifications, email. you want to most likely put it to no
notification. email will still update, but you will only hear a little
tone, no text. alternatively, it's the GMAIL app, in which case, you
could always turn off notifications for that app entirely.

Hi, list.

I am having a problem since yesterday.

I have IPhone5S with IOS10.3.

Mostly, I retreave my emails via my PC but sometimes use the native
client of IPhone email too. I also have the app for Gmail which I have
never used.

Yesterday, I asked Serie to launch email and she started Gmail. I don’t
know what I did there or did nothing but ever since, VoiceOver, once in
a while, reads the name of the sender and the part of the email,
probably the subjectline, I am not sure. Perhaps it happens when the
sender uses Gmail account.

It really, bothers me specially when I am listening something on Youtube.

VO reads email when everything is close except YouTube or the app that I
am using at that time.

How can I stop VO from reading the emails, please?

Thanks!

Hi just went to check the app store to see if there are updates. I
was told blindfold rulette and dice world had an update. I updated
them and once updated closed the app store with the app switcher
then went back in and noticed that the apps in question said there
was available update has anyone ever seen this weird behaviour before.
so it says there are updates available I update them close the app
switcher then go back into the App Store and it says there are
available updates again I have tried also updating them one at a
time and it doesn't seem to make a difference
what could be going wrong and how do I fix it
Thanks

Re: how can anyone find out about free apps of the day

2017-04-08 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

There's no way to know whether they're accessible. At least if they aren't, you
haven't spent money on them.

Best,

Re: Your recent purchase from AMZN Mobile LLC

2017-04-08 Thread Sherrie
I would say that this is worse than Spam, it sounds like a scam. I read the Kim
Komando emails daily and she discusses many fake emails. The reason I think it
is a scam is there is a link to reset your password. This would not be in a
legitimate email. Always go to the site on your own to reset passwords. Never,
never click on a link from anyone that wants you to enter your password or
other personal info. It is asking for trouble. The website for Kim Komando, who
has a weekly radio show and a weekly USA today column is komando.com. She is
also on Facebook.
Even if this was legit, why take the chance?

What's the name of that app?

2017-04-08 Thread Donald L. Roberts
On a few recent occasions, an app has been discussed on this list which
allows one to make labels which can be attached to clothing which will
withstand being put in the clothes washer.

I thought that the app being discussed was Looktel Recognizer. But when
I went to read its online description, I got the impression that its
primary function was to identify objects from information stored in a
camera library. Please let me know if Looktel recognizer has a
mechanism for creating labels or whether we are discussing a different
app. If so, what is it?

Thanks.

washable clothing labels you can purchase from

Looktel Recognizer.  But when I went to read
its online description, I got the impression
that its primary function was to identify
objects from information stored in a camera
library.  Please let me know if Looktel
recognizer has a mechanism for creating labels
or whether we are discussing a different app.  If so, what is it?

Thanks.

Hi I do not use Keychain I use 1Password instead which basically offers the
same features plus a lot more such as secure notes and includes features like a
random password generator. 1Password is also cross platform, ideal if you have

Has anyone used the peer to peer cash transfer apps Square Cashh or Venmo?

2017-04-08 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

I'm curious if any have used the peer to peer cash transfer apps Square Cash or
Venmo?

Curious about both accessibility and security. I understand they are free,
unless one wants an immediate cash out through Square Cash, which is stated in
the App Description as 1%. But otherwise, it sounds as if waiting overnight for
both apps is without fee.

Thanks in advance, Keith

I would love to find a recording app that makes transferring files to my
computer as easy as the Voxie app does. That one is still working on my phone,
but I don't know how much longer it will continue. I occasionally get a
message that it is out of date. I think it's been several years since that one
has been updated. It may not even be available in the App Store any more.

An app that would let me email the files would be fine.

Personally, I think this app is worth every penny, grin.
I.E. nothing.

The built-in voice Memos works better than this.

The free version of Audio Memos is better.

MTR, Multi-Track Recorder is also free, plus you can do multi-track recording.

I’m blanking right now on the name of another free recorder that works well.
If I remember its name, I’ll send it along.

Just my two cents worth and you got it for free too

Sieghard

Hi,

I’m curious if any have used the peer to peer cash transfer apps Square Cash or
Venmo?

Curious about both accessibility and security. I understand they are free,
unless one wants an immediate cash out through Square Cash, which is stated in
the App Description as 1%. But otherwise, it sounds as if waiting overnight for
both apps is without fee.

Thanks in advance, Keith

I use the cash app, and did that by mistake! I meant to send my

Newest update is finally showing

Tonight was the first time I got prompted to install the newest update on my

always plugged into iTunes and checked what update it was offering me but I was
in no hurry to do an update so here it is.

RE: Has anyone used the peer to peer cash transfer apps Square Cashh or Venmo?

2017-04-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Do you not have Interac email money transfer in the States? Here in Canada most
of the financial institutions support this now, it does come with a $1 fee, but
I can easily and securely send money (minimum of $10 and maximum of $3,000) to
anybody, all I need is their email address.
I just login to my online banking, start an Interac email money transfer, enter
the person's name and email address (after the first time they are available
for me to pick in a combo drop-down0) and then I put in the amount I want to
send. I also have to specify a security question and the answer (the recipiant
of course needs to know the answer)and I can send along an optional message.
About half an hour later at most the person gets an email, they select their
financial institution from a list and if I have that bank's app on my iPhone I
can choose to either deposit via the app or to use Safari and the mobile
banking site of my bank. I use Scotia Bank and have it set up to use Touch Id
to log in, so I tap to use the app and continue, it prompts me to login using
Touch Id, then I simply specify which account I want the money to be deposited
to, type in the answer to the security question and confirm the deposit.

Sieghard

Re: Your recent purchase from AMZN Mobile LLC

2017-04-08 Thread Shaf Patel
This is clearly spam. Here's why:

The email starts with: Dear User

Any legitimate email from companies like Apple will have your full name
instead of the generic user.

It also ends with: Apple Account Support.

This is not how Apple signs their messages.

Finally, look at this URL:

http://secure2.iforgot.apple.com.recover-my-account-by-resetting-password-and-auth-token.main-fd8g6df.info

Notice how crafty this URL is?
It contains .apple.com, but .apple.com does not end with a /. However,
the site in question ends with a .info.
If you click the above link without the extra bullshit they sent you in
the email, it'll redirect to www.apple.com.

If you receive an email claiming to be from Apple and are not sure of
its authenticity, go to appleid.apple.com directly instead of clicking
any links in emails. Be careful, protect your data and do not be a
victim of fraud.
