Is there an equivalent keyboard command for the new 4-finger swipe that
switches you through the appps you have in the app switcher?

What you have described is a single finger double tap.
He is wanting a two finger double tap.

Richard if you are speaking of the command to answer and hang up calls and
start and stop music then the command is

Hi, How are you? Yes, I think that works if you do control option spacebar. I
just try it just now and it works. You just need to press teh control plus
option keys and space bar at the same time. Another way to double tap is if
you turn the quick nuv on by pressing the left and right arrow at the same
time, and to double tap use the up and down arrow by pressing them at the same
time. Hope this helps! I look forward in hearing form you soon. Thanks and God

RE: Google assistant comes to the iPhone

2017-05-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That may very well be so, but that still doesn't mean I have to do everything I
can to give Google as much information as possible. In any case, true privacy
does exist, it's just that most of us don't choose to give up the conveniences
of modern life and technology to achieve it. I live in northern BC and know
quite a few people who don't have a cell phone, they have never signed up for
an email address let along a Facebook account and probably have never been
online. They live in the country or the bush and some don't even have a phone
or electricity. Would I want to live like this, well, no, but I can still be
careful what I post on Facebook, how much access I give to various apps and
what devices I allow into my home. If I don't have an internet connected camera
in my house there is no chance anybody can hack it.

Regards,
Sieghard

The app just became available in the App Store today, coincident with the start

They much touted Google Assistant is now available in the Apple App Store.
I downloaded it and opened it, and in order to work at all, you need to
give it permission to access location even when you're not using it. This
is so it can make a so-called private map of where you have been and where
you are when you're using it. So I wonder how much of a toll that is going
to take on Battery Life. And do I really trust Google that t it's private?
Given that they sell data? I was looking forward to certain aspects of

permission. I don't see why he couldn't do other things that are not
location dependent.

I gave some apps location access, because they clearly need it, like maps apps
for instance. But why does an app need to have location services when it's not
even being used? To me, that makes exactly no sense. Hope they fix it. But
since they really want data, they might not regarded as a "fix".

The app just became available in the App Store today, coincident with the start
of Google I/O. It's definitely there, and it definitely requires this location
thing be turned on and be active even when you're not using the app. No thank
you.

Re: Google assistant comes to the iPhone

2017-05-17 Thread Mary Otten
No, you cannot say OK Google to the assistant on the iPhone. Apple will not
allow that, at least as of now. That would take one of the few advantages that
Siri still has a way, since you can do Siri hands-free and no other assistant
is allowed that privilege on the iPhone.

Hi richard,
Well to be honest, I saw an article and had a link in the article to the App
Store. So I follow that link. I never actually search in the App Store. So I'm
not sure what you would search under. I don't have the article anymore sorry.
I'm going to delete the app in any case.

Re: Transitioning from Spotify to Apple Music

2017-05-17 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hello Gerardo,

>From the tabs you are describing, you must be running iOS 9.35 or earlier. In
>iOS 10, apple updated the design of the music app, and the tabs at the bottom
>are different.
So Apple music does not have any thing called favorites, but as mentioned in a
previous message, you can use playlist for this if you like.
To add a song or album to a playlist, just do a double tap and hold on it and a
menu will pop up. Look through the choices in this menu, there are several
choices. Of coarse, add to playlist is one of the choices.
To create a new playlist, go to the library tab, double tap on playlist, then
you should find an add or new button. It will then give you an edit field to
type in the name of the playlist.

By default, none of the music will be downloaded to your device. It will use
WI-FI or your cell data to stream the music.
To download a particular song, just flick up on a song and one of the choices
is download. You can do the same thing with albums and even entire playlist.
So you can choose what music you have downloaded, and what you stream.

You can share songs, albums, and even playlist with other apple music
subscribers. You can even look at the lyrics of a particular song.
One more thing I will mention about playlist.
After tapping on playlist, you will notice a few extra in your list. These are
default playlist that automatically update themselves.
Most Recently added, will be a generated playlist of your most recently added
songs. Do not know timeframe or max number.
Most Recently played, will be a generated playlist of the songs that you
recently listened too. Again, do not know timeframe or max number of songs.
Top 25 most played, will be a generated playlist of the top 25 songs that you
have listened too the most.
Again, these playlist automatically update themselves.

I hope this has been helpful.
Feel free to ask any questions that you might have.

Chris

When you find a song or album you like, you first need to add it to your
library. Then you can take what you have added to your library and add it to
specific playlist that you create.

RE: Google assistant comes to the iPhone

2017-05-17 Thread Richard Turner
Thanks.
Interesting that it didn't show up when I searched for Google Assistant.
But, after reading the information it gathers, I'm with Mary on this one.
It even keeps track of the music, books, apps, contacts, etc. That is way too
much information to trust to Google in my opinion.

I'll stick with Siri as my assistant.

This is interesting.

I checked the app a week ago and it was not there.

Funny about the location services condition.

need to give it permission to access location even when you're not using

RE: Google assistant comes to the iPhone

2017-05-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mary,

Yes, Google's business is to collect as much information about you as possible
so they can use said information/data to target ads based on your habits and so
on. The fact that this would always want access to my location is one reason
for me not even to bother installing it. I have turned frequent locations off
in iOS under Location Services > System Services because while I trust Apple a
lot more than Google, I still don't think they need to keep track of everywhere
I go, there is probably already enough of that simply by virtue your phone is
constantly communicating with cell towers.

This is also one of the reasons why I haven't bothered yet with something ike
the Echo or the Google Home. I am not paranoid about this sort of stuff or see
a conspiracy in everything, but there is something that makes me uncomfortable
aobut having a highly sensitive speaker in my home that listens to everything
that goes on and is said unless you turn it off which defeats the purpose. Of
course I have also not been tempted too much yet because neither Amazon nor
Google so far have bothered to make their smart speakers officially available
in Canada. There are places in the States where I could order one and they
would ship to Canada, but why should I do this if the companies themselves
don't seem to want my business.
I must say that if Apple comes out with one which now seems more and more
likely I will be much more tempted. For one it is more likely that it will be
available here in Canada and as I said, I trust Apple more with my privacy than
Amazon or Google. Microsoft of course is said to also get into this possibly
via a partnership with Harman Kardon and down the road maybe other companies so
we'll have to wait and see. I guess in a few years these things will be as
common place as cell phones and most people will be talking to their virtual
assistants at home via such devices.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: Google assistant comes to the iPhone

2017-05-17 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Mary,

This is interesting.

Is this app actually called Google Assistant? Or are you referring to Google
Now.

I checked the app a week ago and it was not there.

Funny about the location services condition.

On my Samsun Galaxy phone, I have location services turned off and I can use
the Google assistant just fine.

They much touted Google Assistant is now available in the Apple App Store. I
downloaded it and opened it, and in order to work at all, you need to give it
permission to access location even when you're not using it. This is so it can
make a so-called private map of where you have been and where you are when
you're using it. So I wonder how much of a toll that is going to take on
Battery Life. And do I really trust Google that t it's private? Given that they
sell data? I was looking forward to certain aspects of Google assistant. But it
seems to be totally crippled unless you give them permission. I don't see why
he couldn't do other things that are not location dependent.

RE: Transitioning from Spotify to Apple Music

2017-05-17 Thread Marcia Yale
Apple Music resides in your Library once you decide you want to keep it. The
menu will have "Add to Library" as one of the options, and once added to your
library, you can then decide if you want to download it to your device or just
leave it in the cloud.

Re: Crafting Kingdom princess questions

2017-05-17 Thread Wayne Merritt
I have had that issue happen before as well, where Voiceover is a
little sluggish when going to certain parts of the game's screen.
Usually unloading and reloading it with triple click home helps a
little. I have also noticed that the battery on my iPhone 7 seems to
drop more when running the app. It might help to close and reopen the
app. Perhaps I'm playing the game too much ... no that can't be it,
grin. Anyway, random thoughts.

Best way to send my location to someone

2017-05-17 Thread Joe Thibault
Hi group,

What is the easiest or best way to send my location/address/coordinates to
someone? I was out of town. I was dropped off on a corner by a friend. I
must have misunderstood the instructions as to where I was at. My son was
coming to pick me up but I wasn't where I said I was. We got it straightened
out and it was no big deal, but I thought I could easily send my location
with Google Maps or Blind Square or one of the other GPs app via an email or
text message. I don't know how to do that.

Thanks for your help,

Formerly lost in Minneapolis,

Joe Thibault

controlling unwanted motion

2017-05-17 Thread Vicki
Good Afternoon,

Which setting do I change to control what happens when I move my IPhone or
IPad? The motion is way too sensitive and screens change, apps close etc. when
I move the Phone or IPad?

Thanks.

RE: iPhone bluetooth keyboard command question

2017-05-17 Thread Richard Turner
That is a one finger double tap.
The keyboar commands say there is a way to do a two finger double tap, like for
answering calls, playing pausing music, etc.

Re: GPS Apps

BlindSquare has actions you can choose from on the fly when you press the play/
answer button on a headset. This is convenient when the iPhone is inside your
pocket while BlindSquare is in use.

spotty. I should say that the places where this was tested get excellent GPS
reception, and the device used is an iPhone 7ing

Also, the unlabeled item is in the location tab... It states "submenu button"
which, in my mind, needs a description about what is contained in that menu...
and the map is completely useless for a voiceover user.

Thanks.

I just turned 50, but I’m very physically fit and active, I have currently a
3-year old dog who is eager to go places and I do usually walk quite fast and
so far the app seems to give me information about intersections in time. Apart
from that I don’t care too much if it tells me every 5 seconds that I’m on so
and so street since I usually know what street I’m on and if I want on demand
information I just ask SIRI “What is my current location” and it tells me the
address with street name or an address range with street name.
Also, you mentioned an unlabelled button, can you explain where it is as I’d
like to take a look as I don’t recall one.

Hello,

How are you able to get it to reliably announce, say, intersections? How well
does it do at providing timely directions when walking or in a vehicle? My
concern is mostly usability, not as much who funds it, also I would disagree
with the statement the Seeing Eye is "wealthy?.

Thanks.

on one’s personal preferences.I also heard that Nearby Explorer’s interface is
cluttered and not very intuitive. As for how well it works I experienced a
situation once in Calgary quite far in the southeast where Blindsquare had no

One of my concerns about this app is the possible shaky funding situation. when
folks would ask about adding features, they were often told that they would
need to secure more funding.

Hello,
I tried out Seeing Eye GPS today, and experienced some issues that make me not
want to purchase this app. Here is what I noticed, and if there are
work-arounds, please let me know:

  * Lack of Customization: This app seems to not allow me to choose what I
want announced when... it allows me to view information, but the interface is
busy and unnecessarily clunky in my opinion.
  * The announcements don't happen when the device is in my pocket as the app
says they should... I do have background setting turned on. Even when the
device is unlocked, on a bus the app missed every other street or more at
times. And when walking around, results were not much better. I did like
intersection descriptions though...
  * The frequency of updates was every 15 seconds. My phone got warm, and I
often did not hear information... this is similar to the above, but 15 seconds
can be a long time
