What keyboard is it that you have? I am a fan of clicky keyboards
myself but wouldn't mind a bluetooth keyboard that was full sized. I
kind of wish I could find a small keyboard that had all the keys you
would find on a standard keyboard.

fold. one of the main reasons that i choze that one is it bears my wife's
maden name. LOL!

You have to have quick nap on in order for that up-and-down arrow press
thing to work as described. How do you like that keyboard? I have been
tempted to buy one, but I have resisted. I am an old-school typist who
likes
very tactile quickie loud keyboards. My husband is not on that page.

Go into the app, then into menu, then your trips and then look for past. If the
trip happened other than today you want to go to the date and time of the trip.
If it happened today can you have more than one trip look at the time of the
trip. Double tap on the day and time. Flick it to the right path help and you
will see one option that said I got overcharged. You can tap and that that way
they will have a history of the trip as well. Hope this helps and take care.

RE: charging adapter for IPhone 7

2017-07-14 Thread Alan Lemly
Denny,

The adapter you want to get that allows charging and wired earpod listening at
the same time on the iPhone 7 is the
Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar. It costs $39.95 at the Apple Online
Store and gives access to all the remote and volume buttons on your earpods
when in use. You can find it here:

Does anyone have a good suggestion for what adapter is good for charging and

something easy to carry with me, so not a docking station or such.

I often find myself needing to stop what I am doing on the phone so that I can
plug it in and recharge. I would love to find a charger that also allows for
keeping my headphones plugged in. I know there are some out there, but I have
no clue which are good and which are junk.

Thanks,

Denny

Re: New Bluetooth Keyboard

2017-07-14 Thread Andy Baracco
I have just started using it, but I can say that it is surprisingly well
constructed. I was told that it is almost identicle to the Apple keyboard. I
like that it is a full size keyboard including a full numpad. i like the solid
feel of the keys. It is not very portable, however, as it does not fold. one of
the main reasons that i choze that one is it bears my wife's maden name. LOL!

Re: Uber

2017-07-14 Thread Marie Lyons
It was way off! The pickup location was wrong as well as the drop off address.
The distance was nearly twice what it really was. Incidentally, I took the trip
home with Uber and that one had the correct address and distance. I did find
the help tab and sent them the details. No, this wasn’t due to the grid.

RE: Accessible Scale with IOS

2017-07-14 Thread jeffclark925
Hi,

Sorry about that, I should have pasted this the first time. See below. It’s
actually a lot lower in price when I bought it for $59.99. It’s now selling for
$44.99.

Beets BLU Digital Bathroom Scale or Weight Scale with Body Composition. Smart
Scale works with iPhone, Android and iPad

Hello,

Has anyone found a reliable digital scale that interfaces with the iPhone,
preferably one that also measures BMI or percentage of body fat? Any
suggestions would be great. Thanks.

recumbent bikes

Thanks for the spelling because when listening with a screen reader you would
think that it was spelled the way that we are use to cardio.

The Qardio wireless scale is available at Amazon for $140, I believe. You need
to search on Amazon for the: "cardio Bass". Cardio is spelled CQARDIO. I have
the Qardio wireless blood pressure cuff, which is called the Qardio arm. This
blood pressure machine works extremely well, and it will you can email results
to anyone. It will also keep the results in the Qardio app, in addition to the
iPhone health app.

2017-07-14 Thread Michael D. Ulrich

Re: Accessible Scale with IOS

2017-07-14 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Yep, the qardio scale works great, and it even measures body fat percentages.

The app works on I OS and is accessible.. The scale isn’t cheap, but it’s well
worth the price, imho!

Michael,

The Eye note money reader app only works with US currency and unless they
update it, it won't even do that after iOS 11 is released. You should try the
Nant money reader app.

I just got Seeing AI. I'm trying to make it recognize an existing image from

Am I doing something wrong?

  Hi Evan,
The bar codes will give you what the item is. The nice thing about the Seeing
AI app is that it helps you find the bar code. When you press the product
button and then put the camera on the product and as soon as it sees the bar
code it will start beeping then as you turn the product or move your iPhone the
beeps will beep faster and faster when you are right on the bar code. Then just
hold the iPhone still for just a second or so until you hear it say processing.
Then it will announce and tell you what the product is. It is quite fast. I
tested it last night on cans, jars, and boxes and it worked quite well on my
iPhone 6s plus.
Just remember to keep it about 10 to 15 inches away from the prodict.

Thanks Ed, Kay said much the same.
I’ll keep playing with it; although, I can’t help thinking that if all
Seeing AI’s Product feature does is give you the name of the product, then
Tap Tap See is still easier and very reliable.
Now if it gives you more info than that, say cooking directions or something,
that would be great and more worth the effort than doing something I can
already do easily with another app.
Don’t those bar codes, at least some of them anyway, contain microwave
cooking directions or am I thinking of something else?

  Hi Evan,
When you are scanning products you have to hold the camera away from the
product about 10 to 15 inches. It depends on how big the product is. Then go
sideways until the beeps get real fast then hold the camera still and you
should hear processing then it should tell you the product.
Like I said you are probably holding the camera to close to the product.

I got the app earlier this afternoon, and tried out most of the functions on
my iPad Mini 4 with 128GB of memory. I can’t say I’m as impressed as some
others here.
I guess I’ll start with the negatives first and end on a positive note.
First, like so many other people, I tried the Person item at least half a
dozen times, both with myself and my girlfriend as the person and got the No
People message. Not being sure which camera was being used, I turned the tablet
around a few times so that each camera was facing me but with no success.
Second, I tried the bar code reader. I tried at least seven or eight boxes
and packages on it. It got one item. Some of the rest it didn’t beep at all;
and a few, it did beep faster and faster as I got closer to the bar code, but
then it stopped beeping a few inches from the package and said nothing. I’d
starve if I had to rely on that for my meals! http://www.mail-archive.com/viphone@googlegroups.com/

Yes, it might be because my iPad Mini 4 has no light, but I made sure the
lights were on in the rooms where I was using it. I didn’t notice a huge
battery drain while I was running the app quite a lot yesterday.
As I mentioned, I got the bar code reader working very well. It’s not just food
you can use it on. My girlfriend and I were looking at her yarn yesterday. Some
bar codes provide a lot of information, others not so much.

By closer to the barcode we don't mean putting the camera closer to the box we
mean getting it closer to where the actual location is in fact, you might have
to back away from the item to find it and read it more clearly.

RE: Problem with EyeNote MoneyReader app:

2017-07-14 Thread David Whitehead
Hello;

Did a search on,
Eyenote money reader;
Here's what I found;

 Description

EyeNote is a mobile device application to denominate Federal Reserve Notes
(U.S. paper currency) as an aid for the blind or visually impaired to increase
accessibility. Users can have the denomination of a note scanned and
communicated back to the user.

Version 2.0 of EyeNote now includes a continuous scanning. Unlike the previous
EyeNote version which needed a tap on screen to capture an image of the
bank note and then denominate, version 2.0 utilizes continuous recognition with
no need to hold the iPhone still or capture a photo. The scanning shall
commence once the application has loaded and denominate the currency.

EyeNote version 2.0 works on the iPhone 3Gs, the iPhone 4 and 4S, the iPhone 5
and 5S, the 4th Generation iPod touch and greater, and iPad 2 and greater.

Re: How to set your default credit card in Apple Pay wallet

2017-07-14 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Mary and all,

Go to Settings and choose Wallet & Apple Pay. There's a section called
Transaction Defaults that lets you choose your default card.

Problem with EyeNote MoneyReader app:

2017-07-14 Thread Michael McKay
Hello! Folks:

I am wondering if the EyeNote MoneyReader app has been discontinued, or even
simply does not work on the iPhone 6. I have the EyeNote and MoneyReader app,
which worked fine when I first downloaded. I tried it just now and it does not
seem to read my Canadian paper money. Can somebody let me know needs to be
updated, or if it has been discontinued all together by the manufacture.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Kindle question

2017-07-14 Thread Dana
The weird thing is that I did double tap on menu after before you go and every
time I did it it took me to the authors blog site and opened safari instead of
taking me back to the menu. I have read a lot of books on kindle and this has
not ever happened before. I am wondering if there is a problem with how amazon
has this particiular book set up.
I knew about the fact we have to double tap on the close, then the menu again
to get to our libraries (smiley)But this time it kept going to an external
site instead of back to the settings where I could select anything and since
it has us in that spot, I can’t do anything else with kindle or that book, so I
had to just delete the book and delete the app.
Also if anyone knows how to delete kindle books easily from their libraries
that would also be awesome to know.

Re: Kindle question

2017-07-14 Thread Michael Feir
Once you've reached the end of a Kindle book, it puts you in a "before you
go" section. This menu lets you review the book, find out about other books
you might like, etc. You need to feal near the top left corner of the
screen and find the "close" button. Double-tap that to get out of the
"before you go" menu. Next, you want to doubletap on the book to get to the
minor menu. Next, feel at the top left of the screen and flick to the
"menu" button. Double-tap that to get to the major menu. From there, you
can either go to the library or flick right to find other options such as
locations in the book. You'll also find the table of contents in most books
which you can interact with to get where you need to be. Hope that helps a
bit. I quite like the Kindle app but it does have its little quirks.

Kindle question

2017-07-14 Thread Dana
Last night I was reading a book on the kindle ap and for some reason I had to
leave and come back and the book went to the end. It got in this huge loop
where no matter what I did to try to get to the main menu I was lead to the
author’s website instead of back to the book. I reinstalled the ap and hard
rebooted the phone. I deleted the book from the library and re added and due
to the sync feature it still had me having read 100 percent of the book.
Does anyone have a clue of how to get back to the beginning and re read a
book on kindle that you have finished.
This was indeed weird.

RE: Seeing AI Not Really Overwhelmed

2017-07-14 Thread Cristóbal
The facial recognition thing feels more like a gimmic since when are you
actually going to use it in the real world.

The barcode thing alone makes this app worth it for it for me. Especially the
beeping indicator to guide you where it is. I know other apps offer a similar
scanning feature, but playing pin the tale on the donkey for ever and ever on
every single item often made it an exercise in frustration. I never really used
them because of this. So far, barcode scanning with this app has been a breeze
and an over all more efficient task.

Hi Evan,
The bar codes will give you what the item is.

Hi,

I got the app earlier this afternoon, and tried out most of the functions on my
iPad Mini 4 with 128GB of memory. I can’t say I’m as impressed as some
others here.
I guess I’ll start with the negatives first and end on a positive note.

First, like so many other people, I tried the Person item at least half a dozen
times, both with myself and my girlfriend as the person and got the No People
message. Not being sure which camera was being used, I turned the tablet around
a few times so that each camera was facing me but with no success.

Second, I tried the bar code reader. I tried at least seven or eight boxes and
packages on it. It got one item. Some of the rest it didn’t beep at all; and
a few, it did beep faster and faster as I got closer to the bar code, but then
it stopped beeping a few inches from the package and said nothing. I’d starve

Hello Richard,
 Thank you, for your response.
After I posted my email/question, I wandered over to Google, and found the same
app, as your suggesting.
I did download the app, and, actually? Works quite well.
No setting to set, just install, and allow app to access camera, and your good
to go.

Hi Evan,
The bar codes will give you what the item is.
The nice thing about the Seeing AI app is that
it helps you find the bar code. When you press
the product button and then put the camera on
the product and as soon as it sees the bar code
it will start beeping then as you turn the
product or move your iPhone the beeps will beep
faster and faster when you are right on the bar

Then it will announce and tell you what the
product is. It is quite fast. I tested it last

I know that the the various denominations are marked with braille F O R

charging adapter for IPhone 7

2017-07-14 Thread Denny Schwab
Hi all,

Does anyone have a good suggestion for what adapter is good for
charging and allowing the ability to plug in headphones at the same
time? I would like something easy to carry with me, so not a docking
station or such.

I often find myself needing to stop what I am doing on the phone so
that I can plug it in and recharge. I would love to find a charger
that also allows for keeping my headphones plugged in. I know there
are some out there, but I have no clue which are good and which are
junk.

Thanks,

Denny

information on my inability to add apple music to my library in itunes for windows

2017-07-14 Thread Larry Lumpkin
I had a long chat with apple accessability. We discovered that when you
search with the "for you" tab activated, there is supposed to be a pull-down
box letting you choose library or apple music. Screen readers are not
seeing this pull-down so when you tab away from the search, your search text
disappears. Incidentally, when we attempted the apple screen share app,
JAWS didn't see the "accept" button to run the sharing app.

Just trying again.

My first 3 messages contained a request to see whether anyone has

The other had to do with the Seeing AI app. The one I found in the

By closer to the barcode we don't mean putting the camera closer to the box we
mean getting it closer to where the actual location is in fact, you might have
to back away from the item to find it and read it more clearly.

I've sent 4 messages to this group in the past 3 days, and none of them appear
to have reached the group. I seem to be receiving messages from the group, but
for some reason mine aren't getting through, so I'm not receiving answers to my
questions.

Just trying again.

My first 3 messages contained a request to see whether anyone has had any
experience with the Pioneer Remote app, IControl AV5.

The other had to do with the Seeing AI app. The one I found in the app store
appeared to be the same one discussed on the list, but I couldn't find where
the price indicated it was free. When my husband looked at it, he said it cost
$13.95. I downloaded it, hoping to be able to use the bar code feature. That
feature does not appear to be available on the iPhone 5S. Any suggestions?

Karen,
It is free.
Here is the full name and link:
Here is the full description from the app store. Apparently only English is
supported if I'm reading the last part of the description correctly.

Description:

Seeing AI is a free app that narrates the world around you. Designed for the
blind and low vision community, this ongoing research project harnesses the
power of AI to open up the visual world and describe nearby people, text, and
objects. Optimized for use with VoiceOver, the app enables you to recognize:
• Short Text - Speaks text as soon as it appears in front of the camera. •
Documents - Provides audio guidance to capture a printed page, and recognizes
the text, along with its original formatting. • Products - Scans barcodes,
using audio beeps to guide you; hear the name, and package information when
available. (works with iPhone 6 and later) • People - Saves people’s faces so
you can recognize them, and get an estimate of their age, gender, and emotions.
 • Scenes (early preview) - Hear an overall description of the scene captured.
 • Images in other apps - Just tap “Share” and “Recognize with Seeing AI” to
describe images from Mail, Photos, Twitter, and more.Seeing AI is built to
help you achieve more by leveraging the power of the cloud and artificial
intelligence. As the research progresses, more channels may be added.Visit
http://SeeingAI.com for more details and instructional videos.Available in
the U.S., Canada, India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore. Coming soon to more
countries. Languages supported – English Supported on iPhone 5C, 5S and
later; best performance with iPhone 6S and later models.

How do I go about choosing a default credit card to use with Apple Pay?

I have 2 cards a Visa debit and Visa credit card but would like to use the

So I’m assuming the Money Identifier Channel will only download on the IPhone 7

Did anyone get the Money Identifier on their IPhone 5S, or 6 family?

Money Identifier on Seeing AI?

2017-07-14 Thread Mike Ulrich
I put the Seeing AI app on my SE the other day. But there was no Money
Identifier channel within the download on my SE.

So I'm assuming the Money Identifier Channel will only download on the
IPhone 7 family?

Did anyone get the Money Identifier on their IPhone 5S, or 6 family?

Just trying again.

My first 3 messages contained a request to see whether anyone has had
any experience with the Pioneer Remote app, IControl AV5.

The other had to do with the Seeing AI app. The one I found in the app
store appeared to be the same one discussed on the list, but I couldn't
find where the price indicated it was free. When my husband looked at
it, he said it cost $13.95. I downloaded it, hoping to be able to use
the bar code feature. That feature does not appear to be available on
the iPhone 5S. Any suggestions?
