Subject: Posted completely wrong price for iPhone S, or S.E

Hello all,

A few days ago I posted that I was hoping to purchase either an iPhone 5S, or a
iphone 5S.E.

It was pointed out to me that I said 10 dollars. I apologize, because that was
not at all what I meant.

I would like to find 1 for about no more than 200 dollars, if this is
possible?

It doesn't matter what color the phone is, and I don't mind if there are
minor scratches. As long as the phone is completely functional.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

send any messages using the app. It makes no sense at all. I can see
all the messages there in the list. When i double tap on any 1 of
them, it returns me to the page where i launched the linkedin app,
which in my case is on page 3. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Should i do an IOS re-install I'v?e even tried deleting the app, and
it's still doing it. Can anyone else try it to see if they're having
the issue?

Re: facebook and the more list

2017-08-29 Thread Donna
Apparently Facebook is doing some updating that is seperate of the updates for
download & the Facebook changes are occurring in stages for those who use the
Facebook app. I had the issue one day last week where when I tapped on the More
tab within the Facebook app nothing was displayed. However the next day
everything was back to normal. I can't recall if the issue occurred the day
before my latest update to Facebook on Aug 25th or the day after I updated the
Facebook app.

Face it: Every new Apple technology is a disaster

2017-08-29 Thread M. Taylor
Macworld - Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 4:00 AM
Face it: Every new Apple technology is a disaster
Apple is expected to release a new technology next month so you know what
that means: it's time to worry about how bad it will be.
Writing for Mashable, Jack Morse says if you're not afraid, you will be. You
will be.
That is, of course, a reference to a line the popular movie series Star
Trek. Don't @ me.
"Facial recognition tech is taking over smartphones. Here's why you should
be worried." (Tip o' the antlers to Tibor Csapo.)
There are few things more personal than a face.
A bespoke granite carving of a beloved pet thrown through the plate glass
window of your summer house. A loved one who can recite your genome from
memory. An H-shaped pair of coffins so you and your spouse can hold hands
for all eternity. Your groin. That's about it.
Every wrinkle, blemish, and freckle combine to tell a person's story.
That mole that looks cancerous. The vertical scar running over your left eye
which is a glassy white and a memento of that knife fight in Singapore in
1936. Your gold prosthetic nose. Your face tattoo that says "FREE MUSTACHE
RIDES". This is who you are, Marsha.
Oh, and if smartphone manufactures have their way, that map will also soon
be the preeminent key to your digital life.
At least we won't be misplacing it all the time, amirite?! Ha-ha! Any-hoo,
what's the deal with avocado toast?
Basically, it's a lose-lose situation-albeit one that the smartphone makers
of the world seem all too excited to drag us into.
You will not be surprised to learn that the word "enclave", which is used to
describe the technology Apple currently uses to keep your fingerprint safe
as part of Touch ID and will certainly be used as part of Face ID, does not
appear anywhere in this article.
Companies like Apple, Google, and Qualcomm are charging ahead to make face
scans the new biometric we'll rely on for everything from unlocking phones
to making digital purchases.
And presumably all these companies have the same set of motivations, right?
Like, they're all interested in getting your data and selling to third
parties because that's their business model, right?
This question is never addressed.
Apple is loudly berated for being behind the curve in AI because it won't
pull your data up to the cloud and use it to enhance its results. At the
same time, though, it's lumped in with the group of feckless data dealers
who prefer to think of it as "our" email rather than "your" email.
"Once the always-on device gathers information, it may be available to many
kinds of people, contrary to the user's intentions," Schwartz said.
"These include external data thieves, who may break into the device or the
data farm where content is stored; or internal employees of the company that
makes the device, who improperly misappropriate customer content; or the
police, by means of a subpoena or search warrant (depending on what the
police are demanding).
Which company has the better track record on these? Biometric data on an
iPhone is stored in the enclave which is paired with the sensor it validates
against. Nothing is stored in a data farm. Also, Apple stood up to the FBI
when it wanted to the unlock the phone of a terrorist. Pretty sure they'll
probably stand up for you.
None of this is worth mentioning, though. We are to presume all these
companies equally want eat your delicious face data.
"Absolutely people should be concerned," said Schwartz. "What else is the
company going to be doing with the face [scan]?"
Apple? Nothing. They don't have it.
Does this matter to you now? Maybe, maybe not. But it probably will when
someone drains your bank account using nothing more than a photo they pulled
off your Instagram account.
Remember when the same kind of hacking was going to run rampant with Touch
ID, which was a security disaster even though it was way better than the
four-digit passcodes or no passcodes many people were using? Remember when
the Apple Watch was going to give us wrist cancer?
It is important to do proper due diligence on these technologies as they
come out. It is irresponsible, however, to run around telling people hackers
are going to use their selfies to steal their money. Look, if your bank
account is about to be emptied by the iPhone 8, it's not because of Face ID.

Uber says it will no longer track you once the ride ends - CNET

2017-08-29 Thread M. Taylor
CNET News - Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 1:34 PM
Uber says it will no longer track you once the ride ends - CNET

Uber puts an end to its feature that tracked passengers for five minutes
after their ride.
Uber
Uber is pulling the plug on a controversial in-app tracking feature it calls
"post-trip collection."
The ride-hailing company typically tracks rides while they're in progress to
collect data and theoretically use that data to create a better experience.
But last year, it was revealed that it continued to track passengers for
five extra minutes after their ride ended.
Uber caught flak from privacy advocates and customers over the feature,
prompting some users to even say they'd stop using the app. Now, that five
minutes of tracking is no longer.
"We're now committing to more transparency and choice around our location
data collection practices," said Uber security spokeswoman Melanie Ensign.
"While our efforts last fall around post-trip location were aimed at
improving the user experience, our riders let us know we missed the mark."
The past few months have been difficult for Uber, it's been caught in a wave
of scandals and controversy. Along with a #DeleteUber movement, workplace
sexual harassment allegations, and several lawsuits, the company's board of
directors forced its CEO and co-founder, Travis Kalanick, to resign. Uber's
new chief executive will likely be Expedia CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
Uber changed its in-app privacy settings and data privacy, or differential
privacy, earlier this year. But it's now decided to take it one step further
by stopping its post-trip data collection.
If passengers never want to be tracked, they can opt for that within the
Uber app privacy settings. However, they'll have to manually enter their
pickup and drop-off locations whenever they hail a ride.

Here's how peer-to-peer Apple Pay payments will work - CNET

2017-08-29 Thread M. Taylor
CNET How To - Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 4:00 AM
Here's how peer-to-peer Apple Pay payments will work - CNET
Apple Pay can be used to pay online or at stores, but it'll soon get
peer-to-peer payments, too. That means payments to friends or anyone else
you have on your contacts list. The feature was announced in June at Apple's
developer conference, where it was marketed as one of the big upgrades in
iOS 11. That update to iPhones and iPads is likely to hit some time in
September, if Apple follows its traditional release schedule.
While plenty of other mobile payment apps exist to transfer money to friends
-- such as PayPal and Venmo -- Apple Pay's tight integration with the rest
of the company's software ecosystem could make it the most seamless solution
for Apple users. It doesn't require additional accounts to be set up. But
Android users can't send or receive payments: Both sides of the transaction
need to be on iMessage.
We've seen a brief demo of the service in action. Here's everything we know
about peer-to-peer payments so far.
It'll be US-only at first.
Much like Apple Pay was when it first launched, peer-to-peer payments will
be a US feature at first.
You can pay someone via iMessage or Siri, on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or
Mac.
You do need to make sure the other person has an active iMessage account,
though.
When a payment is received, it's immediately converted to an Apple Pay Cash
Card.
The virtual card lives in Wallet on iOS 11, and can be used like a gift card
to make payments. The advantage is that it's essentially a virtual instant
bank account for cash, and payments are received instantaneously. This is
how other payment systems like Venmo and PayPal work, too.
You get money in the Cash Card even if you're not enrolled in Apple Pay.
Surprise! If you get a payment you don't need to do anything to set it up.
Once money is transferred, an Apple Pay Cash Card gets automatically
generated on your phone.
It works with tap-to-pay.
The money can be used at any Apple Pay-enabled location.
It works without signing into another service.
As long as the other person's using iMessage, a payment can be made.
>From there, money can be transferred to a bank... but it always goes to the
Cash Card first.
Apple won't let you put money directly in your bank account. It always goes
to that Cash Card first, similar to how Square, PayPal, Venmo and other
payment services work.
The Cash Card lives in an off-phone account and works across authorized
devices.
In case the phone gets lost or stolen, Apple says the card will keep its
money in an encrypted account off the phone itself. The money can be used
across devices, meaning you should be able to get the cash on an iPhone and
use it on your Mac or iPad, too... or even an Apple Watch.

Skype

2017-08-29 Thread Jen .

Hi,
I have the latest version of Skype installed on my IPhone se, iPad mini and
iPod touch 6. I’ve noticed that the startup sound no longer plays so wondering
if you can get that back.
Also, is there a way to set your status to away etc.
Finally is there a way to change your mood message.
I don’t use this app often and I have noticed that they’ve changed it recently.
One more question, is there a way to not have it notify me that I haven’t
completed my profile everytime I sign in. I mean I don’t want to add a profile
picture and change my background colour etc.
Thanks.
Jen

Re: solved Re: Help with commenting on youtube app

I found that using a forefinger single tap near the bottom of the screen get
you quickly to the actual bottom where you can make a public comment. This can
be, A bit dicey till you get the hang of it. It's a keystroke a use for
instants in settings to get all the way to the bottom of a particular screen
where in perhaps you might want to reset your. Home screen.

facebook and the more list

2017-08-29 Thread regina alvarado
Strange: On my phone on the FB app at the bottom there is a more button that
takes me to a listht of groups, my profile, friends etc. My friend has the same
FB app, the app from FB. She has it on her phone and iPad. She has the "more
list" on her iPad, but it has disappeared from her iPhone. We have rebooted her
phone, deleted the app and reinstalled it, and changed passwords on apps on
iPhone and iPad along with the internet site itself. Can anyone give me another
idea how she can get her groups, etc: back on the more page? Thanks very much
for any help.

I know, they probably think you can record a message, and it's not like I never
use my keyboard, I'm pretty good, but it's really inconvenient that now I can't
dictate a message. I left feedback both in the report a problem and the
feedback sections, as well as mentioning it in my App Store review. I encourage
others to do the same.

Hey guys. This problem has me absolutely baffled, and it makes no
logical sense. So if i click on any of my messages, it appears to
dump me out of the app.. I can not figure it out. I've been doing
this for years, and haven't changed a thing. When i double tap a
message, it dumps me back out to the page where the linkedin app is.
Any ideas guys? Even after re-installing the app, this happens.

Re: reading in Kindle versus ibooks

2017-08-29 Thread Scott Davert
I typically use iBooks, but my use case is probably different than
yours. I use braille only, and the Kindle app is a much better reading
experience for me with braille. The main reason is that though you can
have pages turn automatically when you reach the end of the text on
that page, Kindle does it without interrupting my reading. When the
page turns in iBooks, the page number flashes up, and my reading is
interrupted. While I understand that, for academic purposes, this is
helpful info, most of the time I'm just trying to read and don't care
about what page I'm on. however, if you are using a book for an
acodemic purpose, iBooks may be more helpful for this reason.

Take care,
Scott
