Unfortunately, apples accessibility team will probably not do anything about
this, since it is third-party apps. The best course of action is to contact
google and or Verizon or Amazon.

Hi,
I believe you can assign different chimes or sounds to different devices at
least for the doorbells and chimes. I haven’t any of the spotlight cams so

RE: The new Youtube app on the Apple TV

2018-02-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Isn't the Amazon Prime Video app doing the same thing? I find it curious why
these companies/developers feel they need to make their apps accessible by
including a self-voicing TTS when the Apple TV is perfectly accessible with
Voiceover. I think we should let Apple Accessibility know about thios as well
as of course Youtube. This would be like Microsoft starting Narrator on a
Windows 10 PC in addition to Jaws with no option to turn it off.

The new Youtube app on the Apple TV

2018-02-09 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Hi all

The Youtube app on my 4th gen Apple TV received an update a couple of
days ago; it got quite a bit of coverage online - the main takeaway
being that the old version was much better. One thing that wasn't
mentioned however was that they appear to have implemented their own
screen reader - E.G. if you open the app and navigate around, you'll
hear the apps TTS talking as well as VO.

My questions:

Can someone with a 4th gen or 4K Apple TV test this for me?
Does anyone know how to turn it off? It obviously isn't happening to
sighted people so it must be something that I've enabled but I can't
think what.

Cheers,
Ben.

Re: Question Regarding The Ring Doorbell App

2018-02-09 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,
Oh no reading this makes me a smidge unhappy like. But I'll still keep
trying for good measure. Interesting that it doesn't dump VoiceOver volume
down every time out I haven't figured what if anything seems to trigger it.

Hi,

I only ask because my short exchanges with them gave me the sense that they

Make sure you go into Notification Centre and set it to Alerts and not
Banners as they go away.

I do agree that answering it quickly can be a bit of a challenge, but
with a bit of practice you’ll get it.

How to Forward a Picture Attached to an iMessage?

2018-02-09 Thread Dani Pagador
Hi, Everyone.
My sister and I were texting yesterday, and she attached a picture to
one of the messsages. I want to forward the picture to my Mom via text
message, but don't know how to go about it. Can someone give me
step-by-step instructions? Mom has an iPhone.

Also, if I want to share the pic with my Dad, who has an Android, can
I do this? Would it be via SMS? If yes, is it just knowing his number
and carrier?

Thanks,
Dani

Re: New SE?

2018-02-09 Thread Kelly Pierce
A new SE is doubtful. Here’s what Mac Rumors said about the issue on January 29:

“KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has sources within Apple's
supply chain in Asia, has issued a research note today that casts
doubt on rumors about a second-generation iPhone SE launching in the
second quarter of 2018.

Kuo believes Apple doesn't have enough spare development resources to
focus on launching another iPhone, with three new models already in
the pipeline, including a second-generation iPhone X with a "much
different" internal design, a larger 6.5-inch version dubbed iPhone X
Plus, and a lower-priced 6.1-inch iPhone with Face ID but design
compromises like an LCD screen.”

Update on recording messages in Skype

2018-02-09 Thread Kathy Brandt
They don’t make it obvious, but if you turn rotation lock off, and put in
landscape mode, you can record a message, and find the buttons so that you can
more easily stop after recording. The same holds true with video calls and
finding were to use back facing camera, at Cetera. Voiceover is a little muted,
but doable.
