Hi

I am using the latest update to the YouTube app. I am not having any
problems with accessibility or closing videos. I am using an iPhone 7.

Dona

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my IPhone
6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my screen. I do
not know the number of my You Tube version, but there is no update for it
in my app store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do not know the reason
for the discrepancy in our experiences.

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my IPhone 6,
running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my screen. I do not know
the number of my You Tube version, but there is no update for it in my app
store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do not know the reason for the
discrepancy in our experiences.

contacting YouTube. Feedback can be reported through the app by double
tapping on the send feedback button or probably reported in a feedback

and I am hoping that it will be resolved soon.

Well...I suggest that you delete YouTube & reinstall the app. Maybe something
went wrong with the latest update on March 6th. You have nothing to loose. The

Complete with an ultra strong and durable braided cable casing, this innovative

Lightning Cable helps to reduce abrasion caused by inserting and pulling the
standard charging cable. Additionally, it helps preserve the longevity of the
cable itself with less wear and tear. Easily snapping into place and securing
with the powerful magnet, you can rest assured your iPhone, iPad, or iPod is
successfully charging each time. The Magnetic Lightning Cable comes with a gold
connector end and in a standard 1-meter length.

My Experiences with Directv Now

2018-03-10 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
Hi all:

I've had Directv Now for about two weeks. The service is 90% usable.

You will want to use it on an Apple TV with the remote set to direct touch.
While playing a show, you can swipe across the remote to channel surf. You
can search for content. You can view all networks via the guide. It is easy
to mark and unmark channels as favorites, as well as to view only favorite
channels.

With the iOS app, you can search for content. You can add shows to watch
list. You cannot view network list, even in the guide. You cannot add
channels to favorites. I have the $35 a month plan, with promotional price
for $10 a month. They also have free Apple tv promotion for prepaying for
service. I plan on trying the others as a free trial and then deciding which
I want to keep.

The issues you all have you name them as issues but simply they are not. It
is just another way the app works and that's youtube's policy whether you
like it or not.

Well, I also am having issues and I have the latest update with an iPhone 7.
To say there are no issues is not right, to say there are no issues with
your phone is fine. But you can’t just tell others not to complain or give
feedback if they’re having issues.

Good for you.
I'm glad you have no issues.
However, I do have the issue of the collapse video button not working on
my 8 plus.
Since you know for a fact that there isn't an issue with youtube, then
tell us what's wrong with our phones.

Hi

I am using the latest update to the YouTube app. I am not having any
problems with accessibility or closing videos. I am using an iPhone 7.

Dona

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my
IPhone 6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my
screen. I do not know the number of my You Tube version, but there is
no update for it in my app store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do
not know the reason for the discrepancy in our experiences.

Okay.
Since you all are in so tight with the folks at google, and you've figured out
the app, please enlighten the rest of us as to the work around you use.
Just because things work a bit different does not mean it is policy, or not
worth noting.

However, I do have the issue of the collapse video button not working on

Re: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-10 Thread Lisa Belville

Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with
YouTube 13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

I want to clarify how YouTube works for me now, because it's completely
different as far as video playback is concerned.  I wouldn't call it a
bug, it's a redesign of the app, I suppose.

In earlier versions double tapping the collapse video actually stopped
the video and closed it so you would be back on the home screen, or
which ever tab you were in when you started playing the video.

This has changed with the last few updates.  Now you can double tap the
collapse video and the video will continue to play.  What happens now is
that you are returned to the home screen or which ever tab you were in
when the video was launched.  If you do not have usable vision, it
appears as if the collapse button hasn't worked because audio is still
playing.

This change threw me off, too, because I cannot see the video, and I
didn't realize what was happening.  Also, I still have intermittent
issues with a two-fingered double tap not resuming playing as it should.

Now to close or reliably resume playback of a video, you need to move to
the tabs on the bottom of the screen and swipe left past home.  Here
there is a close button, a play/pause button, and the title of the
currently playing video.  Double tapping the close will close the
video.  double tapping the video title will take you back to the video's
main page with the regular next, actions, description, etc.

Now that I've gotten used to the design it's no big deal, but it can
still be irritating.

If what I've described above isn't the issue some of you are having than
I apologize.  So far YouTube is working fine for me with the exception
of the change in behavior of the collapse button.

HTH,

Lisa

Re: question from a new iphone user, about when you go in to the xm app

2018-03-10 Thread Arlene
Paul, thank you very much for describing how it looks in the xm app and that's
really great that it recently began to be more accessible. I too, hope, you
could get into it, Bill. I've got to verify my apple id that I got the other
night, after I get that squared away I'll be able to get the app. Do I just
search for xm radio in the apps store or would I input the information on the
web page? I really appreciate this list and all the assistance. I've got so
many questions and I've learned a number of things on my own, and I'm also
reading the Dressner book. Anyway, I guess I'll go ahead and ask 2 other how to
questions here. With upgrading to the se phones on my t-mobile account, Both
the phones had the wrong date, and both say oklahoma city, oklahoma no weather
information. Oklahoma is which is where we live. We don't have these 2 phones
pared up to the bluetooth keyboard yet, and we don't know how to pare them up,
in other words we don't know which key that we need to press, if I'm
remembering right. The reason why I'm mentioning the bluetooth keyboard is,
because if we need to go into settings for both the weather, and to set the
date and time, those settings are further down the screen and with the
bluetooth keyboard if it was pared up I could arrow right until I get to those
settings. I suppose I could use the roater to get further down the screen, but
the way I've heard it described I can't seem to do it right so that will take
more practice. Now the time was correct on both phones, it was just the date. I
think I just got lucky with Wayne's phone today, somehow in exploring the
screen I did get into where you input the date and time, so his phone is on the
24 hour time which is how he likes it, and the date is correct now. Though I
can't find it on my phone. Then on his phone, between asking Siri the weather,
also the hourly forecast some how it began having the weather information
showing on the screen the current temperature, the high and low for the day,
the hourly forecast and the weekly forecast, which I think it's through
accuweather. I can't seem to do the same where the weather is concerned on my
phone. Both phones are signed up with the wifi fine, so I'm not sure what to do
or what I missing. Like a lot of things, it's probably something simple. I've
got another question but I'll ask in another message. Thank you, Paul, and
anyone else that can help me.

  Arlene,

After you sign in to the app, you will have five tabs across the bottom of
the app. From left to right the tabs are Channels, Recent, Search, Me, and
Favorites. If you know the channle that you are looking for, it’s easiest to
search for that channel in the search tab. If you want to browse by category,
you want the channel tab. They have improved accessibility some recently. The
app is pretty good now. Good luck. I love my Sirius/XM.
Not sure why it’s not working for Bill, but I can get Siri to open Sirius/XM
by saying open XM every time. I wonder if this is working for anyone else?

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my
IPhone 6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my
screen. I do not know the number of my You Tube version, but there is no
update for it in my app store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do not
know the reason for the discrepancy in our experiences.

Re: Moving Tabs in Safari

2018-03-10 Thread Mike B.
Hi Kelby,

See if there's something in the article below that will help your situation:

Subject: Tabs, Closing Them All In Safari, How To Close All Open Tabs, With
A Long Press Gesture, Rita's iDevice Advice

Note: How to do this using an iPhone SE or, 6S & running iOS 10.33 steps are
below the main article.

From: Rita Howells via iDevices
Rita's iDevice Advice for November 6, 2017: You can close all open tabs in
Safari, in a long press gesture
Safari for iPhone and iPad is an incredibly capable mobile web browser
despite its simple, straightforward user interface. It is the browser of
choice on iOS devices, in large part because it is the one pre-installed,
but very few people know everything you can do with Safari.

Much of Safari's advanced functionality is hidden behind long-press
gestures.

I find that a lot of people keep many tabs open in Safari, usually from
previously browsing sessions. There is a way to close all the open tabs
with a "long press gesture on the "tabs" button on your iPhone.

When using VoiceOver: perform a one finger double tap and hold gesture.

Long press on the Tabs button:

The Tabs toolbar button is located on the right side of the screen, either
at the top on iPad or bottom on iPhone. Tapping it launches the carousel
view of preview cards for all the open tabs. However, you can also
long-press it to reveal several more options.

Without entering the tab screen, a long-press on the button reveals an
action sheet. You can close all open tabs in one tab or close the current
tab. You can also quickly open a new tab, either in a normal window or
jumping to Private Browsing mode.

If you long-press the Tabs button on iPad, you can also see options for
Split View tabs. You can 'Open Split View' if you are currently in
full-screen mode, or vice-versa and merge back down into a single view,
without having to worry about dragging and dropping tabs to the side of the
display.

I use Iphone 6S and could not find the tab button in the bottom right corner
of the screen when in Safari. Also I'm using IOS10.
Kevin Meyers

From: Rita Howells via iDevices
Hello Kevin, when running Apple iOS 10 software version, the button will be
labeled as pages instead of tabs. So, perform a one finger double tap and
hold on the Pages button and there will be an option to clear all the open
pages/tabs. When iOS 11 was introduced that button got changed from the name

Is it possible to switch tabs in Safari without opening the tabs list? A
three-finger swipe to the right doesn't do anything.

RE: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don't think Donna said you can't complain or provide feedback. She simply
stated that many people seem to have no problems and suggested to delete and
reinstall which is a perfectly reasonable recommendation and the last step in
trouble shooting an issue. I have read dozens of times on here how doing this
fixed the issue somebody had prior to doing this.

The issues you all have you name them as issues but simply they are not. It is
just another way the app works and that's youtube's policy whether you like it
or not.

Well, I also am having issues and I have the latest update with an iPhone 7.
To say there are no issues is not right, to say there are no issues with your

I don't know about others here, but I am actually finding that many things are

Davy, I agree saying you should not contact Youtube/Google is not a useful
suggestion. May I remind you how often you posted on here after a Facebook
update that something wasn't working and when I checked it it was working for

RE: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Thanks for the tip about the Play and Close buttons at the bottom, I hadn't
noticed those yet. Collapsing the video for me at least seems pretty obvious
because even though it continues playing Voiceover also talks and if you touch
the screen you notice you are back on the home screen.

Subject: Re: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with
the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with YouTube
13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

HTH,

Lisa

Hello Lisa,
In my case, I knew of this brand new change but the collapse video button did
not work for me and I also was not able to find a close button anywhere on the
screen. Now that I have reinstalled the app, double tapping on the collapse
button returns me back to the home or search back button screen and pauses
audio. This is in version 13.08 of the YouTube app.
Again, I do apologize but I and other colleagues were really having this issue

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my
IPhone 6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my
screen. I do not know the number of my You Tube version, but there
is no update for it in my app store, so I guess it is the latest
one. I do not know the reason for the discrepancy in our experiences.

Interesting, you must be the only person where double tapping on Collaps Video
also pauses playback.

Hello all,
I just took Donna's suggestion now of deleting and reinstalling the YouTube app
on IOS 11.2.6 and all works as it should. When one double taps on the collapse
button with VoiceOver, the video is paused and the user is returned back to the
home screen.
I do apologize. I will inform other colleagues to do the same and hopefully
their issue will be resolved as well.
Thanks

RE: Magnetic Lightning Cable by Baseus

2018-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I doubt it, the piece you plug into the Lightning port must still stick out
enough so you can grab it and pull it out, interesting concept though if that
protrusion could be kept very small and why not offer a headset which could
also snap onto this connector? Maybe this would make way too much sense and be
way too practical?

Re: question from a new iphone user, about when you go in to the xm app

2018-03-10 Thread Paul Sandoval
Arlene,

The link for Sirius XM Radio in the app store is:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/siriusxm-radio/id317951436?mt=8

If you want to move down the screen similarly to using the right arrow on a
keyboard, you want to flick right with one finger. This moves you forward
through the interface, flick left moves you backwards.

Also if you enter the weather app, you should get the prompt to allow location
services for Weather, this should fix the “no weather information available”
message.

Hope this helps.

Arlene,

After you sign in to the app, you will have five tabs across the bottom of the
app.

RE: The iOS MyChart App is VoiceOver Accessible

I love this app because as stated the test results are accessible. This beats
having it sent in the mail and having someone else read it or having to scan
it. I have also requested appointments and made requests for medicine refills

Mark.
This is truely good news that came at a great time for me as I am awaiting some
test results that I am very anxious to get. As my practitioner won't be in
until next friday I am not keen on the weeklong wait. The last time I used the
app it really wasn't that great.
You're awesome!

I did find an app in the Apple store with local businesses excepting Apple Pay.
However, it was not complete and to add a business you know excepts Apple Pay
you had to physically be there. I do not recall the name of the app, but if I

Which Stores Accept Apple Pay? The Always Up-to-Date List

Apple Pay has been available to use in stores and select apps and websites ever
since its first appearance in iOS 8.1. Now that iOS 11 is out, there are
currently ten different iPhone models that support Apple Pay functionality
without the use of an Apple Watch, and the list of partnered stores that accept
Apple Pay has only grown. Here's our always-up-to-date list to keep you in the
know.

Firstly, since iPhone 6 and later iPhone models have NFC-technology built in,
pretty much any shop that has a functioning contactless reader (and employees
who know how it works) will accept Apple Pay, just like they will Google Wallet
and NFC-chipped cards. Just look for the Apple Pay icon or the universal
contactless smart card reader sign on card readers and point-of-sale (POS)
terminals in stores.

If you want to see exactly which businesses accept Apple Pay right now, here's
a full list for physical locations, as well as places that do not accept Apple
Pay or have been known to disable it entirely. There are also a bunch of iOS
apps that will accept Apple Pay, so scroll down for that list, too. And if you
need help setting up and using it, check out the bottom of this guide for some
quick walkthroughs.

2.Stores That Will Accept Apple Pay Soon
3.Stores That Won't Accept Apple Pay Right Now (Or Ever)

Stores That Accept Apple Pay Right Now
Here's the official list of Apple Pay partners accepting contactless payments
in stores. While it does not include every shop, restaurant, or service, you
can most definitely be sure that it'll work in these places, as employees have
most likely been thoroughly trained to prepare for the questions shoppers will
have.

Thanks for the tip about the Play and Close buttons at the bottom, I hadn't
noticed those yet. Collapsing the video for me at least seems pretty obvious
because even though it continues playing Voiceover also talks and if you touch
the screen you notice you are back on the home screen.

Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with YouTube
13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

I want to clarify how YouTube works for me now, because it's completely
different as far as video playback is concerned. I wouldn't call it a bug,
it's a redesign of the app, I suppose.

In earlier versions double tapping the collapse video actually stopped the
video and closed it so you would be back on the home screen, or which ever tab
you were in when you started playing the video.

This has changed with the last few updates. Now you can double tap the
collapse video and the video will continue to play. What happens now is that
you are returned to the home screen or which ever tab you were in when the
video was launched. If you do not have usable vision, it appears as if the
collapse button hasn't worked because audio is still playing.

This change threw me off, too, because I cannot see the video, and I didn't
realize what was happening. Also, I still have intermittent issues with a
two-fingered double tap not resuming playing as it should.

Now to close or reliably resume playback of a video, you need to move to the
tabs on the bottom of the screen and swipe left past home. Here there is a
close button, a play/pause button, and the title of the currently playing
video. Double tapping the close will close the video. double tapping the
video title will take you back to the video's main page with the regular next,
actions, description, etc.

Now that I've gotten used to the design it's no big deal, but it can still be
irritating.

If what I've described above isn't the issue some of you are having than
I apologize. So far YouTube is working fine for me with the exception
of the change in behavior of the collapse button.

HTH,

Lisa

Spam calls: how to stop the robots from calling your iPhone or Android, The Verge

2018-03-10 Thread M. Taylor
How to stop annoying robocalls on your iPhone or Android phone
By Chris Welch

Mobile spam calls have been a nuisance for years, but over the last few
months, it's felt to me like there's been a surge of them. I get between
four and six calls daily, and a quick survey of friends shows that I'm not
alone. Every waking day brings with it a new barrage. Robocallers have upped
their game by masking their spam with local, genuine-looking phone numbers.
Sometimes their nonsense is amusing - like when you get a threatening
voicemail about your impending arrest over owed back taxes - but the vast
majority of the time, it's an unwelcome distraction. It's all too easy for
these scammers to wield the power of the internet and fire off countless
calls with ease. And once even just a few people fall for a scam, they've
made enough profit to cover their trivial expenses.

Robocalls have become so infuriating that the Federal Trade Commission
received over 375,000 complaints about them every month last year. The
agency routinely says it's doing its best to get a handle on the situation,
and yes, there are occasionally significant crackdowns. But real-world
feedback indicates that things are getting worse - not better - and it's
starting to feel a little out of control.

So if you're as sick as I am of pulling a vibrating phone out of your pocket
only to see a random, suspect number, let's go over the options for fighting
back and restoring some sense of peace.
First, I'll review some definitions since the carriers make important
distinctions between these calls - even if they're all unwelcome and
annoying. Here's how Verizon looks at things:
. Robocallers: Automated, prerecorded phone messages
. Spammers: Unwanted callers that may be calling indiscriminately to a
large number of recipients; sometimes includes callers to whom you've given
consent to contact you
. Fraud calls: An entity likely pretending to be someone they're not
with malicious intent
Option A: Block individual numbers one by one
This is probably a hopeless endeavor if you're aiming to completely
eradicate robocalls, but if there's a particular number that keeps calling,
it's fairly easy to block it forever from your iPhone or Android phone.

On iOS, just go to the Phone app, then your Recents, and tap the blue
information icon to the right of the number you want to block.
For Android, the process isn't much different: go to the Recents section of
the Phone app, long press on the bothersome number, and choose block. On
some Android phones, you'll also be given the option of reporting the number
as spam.

Again, this will take a lot of persistent work on your part to keep the
spammers away - and it's good for absolutely nothing against blocked or
private callers.

Option B: Trust (or pay) your carrier to protect you
Most of the major mobile providers have taken steps to insert themselves as
a barrier between you and these annoying callers. Unfortunately, two of them
make you pay an extra monthly fee for their effort.

AT&T: Call Protect
Available for free for all postpaid customers. Unavailable on prepaid lines.
AT&T has a free app, Call Protect, that's designed to block some fraudulent
robocalls from reaching you, and you won't have to do anything besides
install the software on your phone. It won't completely block spam or
telemarketer calls, however; instead, Call Protect will identify those
callers as "Suspected Spam" when the phone rings and give you the option of
blocking their number in the future. Users can also manually block any
numbers they'd like and report numbers to help improve the database.
The important caveats to know are that Call Protect is only available to
postpaid customers; prepaid customers can't use it at all. And the
"Suspected Spam" feature only works in areas with AT&T HD Voice coverage.
Also, the app is unable to block unknown callers altogether.
Download for iPhone | Download for Android
Sprint: Premium Caller ID ($2.99 / month)
If you're willing to add an extra charge to your monthly bill, Sprint's
Premium Caller ID will identify spam callers and anyone not in your contacts
list. It flags robocalls and spammers and assigns a "threat level" to give
you an indication of how suspect the call might be.
But despite costing a premium, Sprint's solution doesn't automatically block
anything from getting through. You can block future calls from a number or
report it, but the best Premium Caller ID will do is make it clear that you
shouldn't answer. It won't stop your phone from ringing, and all it takes is
someone dialing *67 before your number to thwart it and show up as "Blocked"
on your caller ID. Here's an FAQ on the feature.

T-Mobile: Scam ID and Scam Block
Available for free for all postpaid customers.

T-Mobile includes two network-level layers of protection against
robocallers, and both are free. Scam ID will identify known nuisance callers
when your phone rings. It does that automatically without y

Re: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-10 Thread Lelia Struve
I also deleted and reinstalled YouTube, and it worked, until now. So it looks
like the issue or whatever you wish to call it came back. Any tips would be
greatly appreciated.

 Hi

I am using the latest update to the YouTube app. I am not having any

Hi,
Has any one noticed that when flicking through videos there is like a blank
space in between them? the collapse button works for me.

Re: Weight Watcher's App

2018-03-10 Thread Nancy Badger
Linda,
You probably already have an answer to this by now. I am catching up on old
email after a vacation. The weight watchers app does not list magnesium to my
knowledge. I have used it recently. It lists things like carbs, fiber, protein,
fat but it does not list magnesium. It is very accessible at this point.

Re: Assistive Touch

2018-03-10 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I can't say whether Assistive Touch would help your friend, it depends on what
she wants it to do. I use Assistive Touch with BoiceOver all the time, for a
silly reason I guess, to keep from wearing out the home and power buttons on my
IPhone 6, which I have kept longer than even I expected. To get the home button
replaced on this thing is like a hundred dollars, and I have heard of them
failing because they get used so often. If you do try Assistive Touch yourself
to see if you think it would help her, you can move the Assistive Touch icon to
a more convenient place inthe screen if you need to by dragging it to where you
want it to be.
