RE: More controls in Music app

2019-11-17 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Anna,

After reading this thread, I attempted to locate the repeat song control in my
Music app on my 8 Plus running the latest version of iOS 13. Try as I may, I
cannot find the control. I cannot even see it on the display even though all
of the Google articles say that the control should be just to the right of the
UpNext control.

Can you provide steps on how to access the control in iOS 13, via VoiceOver?

Thank you,

Mark

Hi Brian,

Try double-tapping the artwork to bring up the Now Playing screen. The controls
should be there.

Best,
Anna

Unfortunately, Command-Tab only works on the iPad, as far as I know. I have no

Hiding Link Previews in Safari

2019-11-17 Thread kelby carlson
Ever since updating to iOS 13, when I double tap and hold on a link, a preview
of the website opens up along with the action menu. I have read instructions
that say that in the action menu there will be a button to hide link previews,
but I have seen no such button no matter what link I click on. This is
extremely annoying and I want to disable it.

Hi Larry,

Did you see the messages Richard and I sent? We both searched and all results
point to the fact that currently you can’t shuffle Apple Music playlists using
an Alexa device.

The one forum I read had a response from an Amazon person who said they are
looking into this.

I would send feedback o Amazon to let them know you want to have this option.

I think this is on-topic because I made them with ITunes. I have broken some
of my Christmas big playlist into smaller ones and the apple music skill in
alexa plays them fine. However, when I ask her to shuffle them, she does not do
it. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone experienced this.

Re: HULU accessible?

The Hulu app on the Amazon fire TV works well with Voice View. The app on
the iPhone is very accessible as well.

RE: unable to shuffle playlists I've made when playing on my echo

2019-11-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Subject: unable to shuffle playlists I've made when playing on my echo

I think this is on-topic because I made them with ITunes. I have broken some
of my Christmas big playlist into smaller ones and the apple music skill in
alexa plays them fine. However, when I ask her to shuffle them, she does not do
it. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone experienced this.

RE: Does the new ipod 7 have NFC capability?

2019-11-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It would appear it does not. Here is part of an article I found where they
asked whether one should buy an iPod Touch 7 or an inexpensive Android device
for about the same price but which is actually a phone as well:

Comparatively, the iPod Touch 7 looks like it was released in 2015. In fact, it
uses the exact same design of the iPod Touch 6 that was released during that
year.
That means you have a tiny 4-inch screen with gigantic bezels by today's
standards and a resolution that's not even HD. You're also missing out on a
fingerprint sensor, GPS, NFC, and can only connect to the internet when you're
near Wi-Fi.

You could call Apple and find out for sure; but NFC seems to be an iPhone

Re: Transferring files between computer and iDevice was RE: need advice

2019-11-17 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi,

In addition to SD cards, you can connect a flash drive or other drive to an iOS
device and copy files to it. However, you need a USB3 camera adapter or
equivalent to do this. This adapter connects to your iDevice's lightning port
and the flash drive, and it also has a connector that lets you connect to a USB
charger for power. This is necessary to give the flash drive adequate power.
Connecting to a computer's USB port won't work; you have to use a wall charger
or power bank. But if you need to pass files back and forth between devices on
a regular basis, it might be a good way to do it.

Best,
Ana

RE: Transferring files between computer and iDevice was RE: need advice

2019-11-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Richard,

First of all, the link Keith provided worked fine for me, I am using Google
Chrome with Jaws 2020, I will put its contents below.
Keith, as Anna pointed out, is not correct in saying you can transfer just any
file easily between an iPhone and a PC or vice versa using Bluetooth. Natively
this is not supported, but there are apparently apps out there on the App Store
which may allow this to some degree, I am not going to check them out because I
have Dropbox, OneDrive as well as my own Synology NAS where I can use the
Synology “Drive” or “DSFiles” app, I have Dropbox, OneDrive as well as Drive
set up in the Apple Files app so I can access all the files from Dropbox,
OneDrive and my Synology NAS in one central location.
In addition Bluetooth file transfers are super slow.
Here now the text from that article:

How to Use Bluetooth to Transfer Files Between Devices
Send data, music, and photos without an internet connection
by Stanley Goodner
Updated November 09, 2019

Bluetooth is a great way to wirelessly transfer files like photos to and from
your mobile devices without the need for an app and without incurring data
charges. To set up a Bluetooth file transfer between smartphones, tablets, and
PCs, enable Bluetooth (and visibility), then send the desired files. If a
desktop or laptop is involved, set up (or pair) the mobile device to the
computer before transferring files over Bluetooth.

The directions below should generally apply to iPhone and Android, regardless
of who made your mobile phone: Apple, Samsung, Google, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.

Turn Bluetooth On
The steps to turn on Bluetooth on phones and other devices vary. Here are the
general steps, with some examples.

Open the Settings app (the icon resembles a gear). To access Settings on
Android phones, swipe down from the top to display the notification panel. To
access Setting on Windows PCs, go to the Windows Start menu.

Tap Connected Devices on stock Android. Tap Connections on Samsung. Select
Devices on Windows.

Select Bluetooth. For quick access to Bluetooth, swipe down from the top of the
screen to display the quick settings panel.

Bluetooth has its own section in iOS Settings, toggle it on or off in Control
Center.

Turn on the Bluetooth toggle switch to display a list of Paired Devices (such
as Bluetooth audio devices you’ve paired with before) and a list of Available
Devices.

Connected devices, Bluetooth, toggle ON in Android Settings
The receiving device is visible (discoverable) to other devices. A timer may
count down the duration of visibility, Bluetooth will turn off when it reaches
zero. If there isn't a toggle switch, the device is visible while the Bluetooth
settings are open.

To send files from a smartphone or tablet to a desktop or laptop PC, make sure
the mobile device is connected/paired to the computer (this action is performed
on the computer).

Send Files from Smartphones and Tablets
To transfer files from a smartphone or tablet to a PC:

Open the File Manager app. This also could be called Explorer, Files, File
Explorer, My Files, or something similar. On Android Marshmallow or later, open
the Settings app to find the file manager.

If your device doesn't have a file manager app, download one from the Google
Play store.

While iOS has a Files app, it doesn't generally allow Bluetooth transfers.
Instead, it uses AirDrop for non-internet file transfers, which uses Bluetooth
and Wi-Fi.

Go to the folder that contains the files you want to transfer. Camera photos
are usually found in the DCIM folder.

Tap the Menu icon and choose Select.

Select the files you want to send.

Tap the Share icon.

In the list of sharing options, tap Bluetooth.

Share button and Bluetooth icon when sharing files on a stock Android smartphone
If the devices haven't been paired, it may take a few seconds to discover the
receiving device.

Tap the Bluetooth device you want to transfer the files to. A message that
displays "Sending # Files to [device]" appears on the screen.

A file transfer notification appears on the receiving device that shows the
file name, file size, and the sending device. This window may disappear
(nothing will be transferred) if no action is taken within 15 seconds. If this
happens, send the files again.

Select Accept on the receiving device to download the files. If the receiving
device is a computer, choose a folder location. If you want to cancel the
transfer, select Decline, Cancel, or Reject, depending on your PC.

Send Files from Computers
While macOS supports Bluetooth, file transfers with that system are managed by
AirDrop. Windows PCs are able to send files to a mobile device (and vice versa).

Open a file manager (on Windows, open File Explorer) and go to the folder that
contains the file you want to send.

Right-click the file.

Only one file at a time can be transferred over Bluetooth.

Select Send To and choose Bluetooth.

I recently had the same issue. The verification code was going to my Apple

iCloud.

Give that a shot.

It sounds like you have two factor authentication turned on.
You may not have a choice any longer to use that.
Call Apple Accessibility, and ask them about Two Factor Authentication and if
there is a way to turn it off, or have them explain how to use it if your only
other device is an Apple Watch.

Subject: Repeating iClaoud "Approval Request sent" message

A few weeks ago, I went to the Apple Store to get a replacement battery for my
iPhone 8. Due to some problem that wasn't really explained, I got a replacement
phone for the cost of the battery. Ever since then, about every other day, a
message pops up on my phone that says, "Approval Request Sent". It says to
continue using iCloud on my phone, I need to do something or other with another
Apple device, or type in some sort of code. The only other Apple device I have
is an Apple Watch. I know nothing at all about any code that would resolve this
problem. Apple Accessibility was no help, because when I left the "approval
request sent" message on the screen, I could not accept a screenshare request
from the representative I was speaking with. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have not purchased one yet, but what about the card reader that is supposed
to work with iOS 13 so that you could copy a file to an SD card and put it in
the reader that connects via the lightning port on the iPhone.
Then, use the files app to get it from the card to the iPhone?

Just a thought.

Hi,

AirDrop only works between Macs and iDevices, not Windows machines and
iDevices. You could use iTunes file sharing. If you need to share files between
a PC and an iDevice on a regular basis, it is also supposed to be possible to
use a protocol called SMB to connect your PC to your phone so that your phone

iOS 13 book, but there should be some good instructions out there by now.

You should be able to see the code on your device. When asked if you want to
allow it, say yes, and a six-digit number should be sent. Write down the number

At least, nothing about transferring from his computer to the phone, which was

RE: Repeating iClaoud "Approval Request sent" message

2019-11-17 Thread Richard Turner
It sounds like you have two factor authentication turned on.
You may not have a choice any longer to use that.
Call Apple Accessibility, and ask them about Two Factor Authentication and if
there is a way to turn it off, or have them explain how to use it if your only
other device is an Apple Watch.

RE: Transferring files between computer and iDevice was RE: need advice

2019-11-17 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, Dropbox, or OneDrive if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription especially;
but if you have a Microsoft account you can get a limited amount of OneDrive
space for free as well.
With the Microsoft 365 subscription you get one terabyte of OneDrive storage.

I'm with Richard that I don't believe it's possible to transfer files between
your computer and your iDevice using Bluetooth. Another alternative to
Richard's suggestion of emailing the file as an attachment is to open a free
Dropbox account. With Dropbox installed on your computer, any files placed in
the Dropbox folder on your local computer are automatically uploaded to the
cloud and can be accessed with the very accessible Dropbox app on your iDevice.
I've also found Dropbox to be the most widely supported cloud service across
all the apps I use.

RE: Does the new ipod 7 have NFC capability?

I found nothing in any web search to say it does, so my guess is it doesn’t.
You could call Apple and find out for sure; but NFC seems to be an iPhone

Sending the phone call with AirPods pro?

2019-11-17 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
I am out for a walk with my guide dog and I just tried ringing a friend. It
went through to voicemail. I could not work out how to end the phone call! How
does one do this when one has the iPhone in one’s pocket and one is using the
AirPods pro?
