RE: Apple Accessibility reply to Voiceover no longer coming out of my Bose Mini Soundlink 2 bluetooth speaker since upgrading to iOS 13.2

2019-11-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Apple has several such standard responses and if they reply that they are aware
of the issue and that it is being worked on that is better than if they reply
that they cannot reproduce the issue.
I received the same reply when I send a message about the American female SIRI
voice mispronouncing a number of words.

Wow that is a great standard chatbot message that just tells nothing at all but
then again it is very good and clever you report this bug.

Hello List,

I wrote to Apple Accessibility about the issue of Voiceover coming out of the
phone speakers instead of from a connected Bose Mini Soundlink Bluetooth
speaker and received the following reply:

Hello Alan

Thank you for your email. I apologize for the issues you are experiencing. We
appreciate the feedback and wanted to let you know that Apple is currently
investigating this issue. We cannot comment on when it may be resolved.

Have a great day,

Apple Accessibility

RE: VoiceOver not Playing with iPhone 7 and Bose Soundlink 2 Speaker

2019-11-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No, you cannot downgrade anymore, usually that window closes a few weeks after
the release of the new iOS.
I am curious to see how the new Sonos Move which I ordered today behaves in
Bluetooth mode. I won't get it for another week or so, but I'll definitely test
it.

Hi,
I sent an email to Bose, and they said it’s apple’s issue, which I really
believe it is. I’ve left MULTIPLE MULTIPLE MULTIPLE feedback emails to apple
and Apple Accessibility, they said they’re aware of the problem and cannot
comment on when it will be fixed!! Give me a break! Anyway, I’ve had quite
enough of my iPhone 8 with iOS 13 not playing nice with my Bose products and
REALLY want to downgrade to iOS 12.4.1. Is that even possible?
Help!

Hi,
On a related note I’ve been asking Apple to give us more VoiceOver voices such
as those offered for purchase in VoiceDream reader app for years now via their
feedback site.

that’s just little me.

Hi Kevin,

While the original SIRI voice was done from voice samples, it is my
understanding that the new SIRI voice is a fully synthetic voice.

In any case, if you ever listen to that article/interview with the lady who did
the SIRI voice you’ll understand why Apple could never just take somebody’s
voice and make it into a TTS, it took months and months and her reading
millions of lines of text which Apple engineers then had to break down into
these tiny pieces for this voice to be developed.

Maybe somebody can provide the link although I am sure if you Google “How was
the SIRI voice made” you may find it. I have to go to work in 2 minutes so I
don’t have time to find it right now.

I know some of the voices for Voiceover are samples of real people. I’d like to

synthetic voice talk to me over other voices.

Just curious.

Go to settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Always Speak Notifications and double
tap it to off.
That should stop all speaking of notifications.
Of course, that turns them off entirely.

Re: iPhone 8 and triple click home

I use the tripple click of the home button on my iPhone 8 all the time
especially when I'm listening to a bard book. I do that, or I turn
off my voiceover speech by doing a 3 finger double tap.

2019-11-21 Thread dacia . luck
Hi,
Does anyone know if the Zillow app is accessible? My husband and I are wanting
to start looking at houses, and I was curious if there Zillow app is
accessible. I think it is also available on the computer, but I don’t know if
it is more clunky on the computer and it is on the phone. I have an iPhone 8
and the latest iOS update 13.
Thanks,

I wrote to Apple Accessibility about the issue of Voiceover coming out of the
phone speakers instead of from a connected Bose Mini Soundlink Bluetooth
speaker and received the following reply:

Hello Alan

Thank you for your email. I apologize for the issues you are experiencing. We
appreciate the feedback and wanted to let you know that Apple is currently
investigating this issue. We cannot comment on when it may be resolved.

Have a great day,

Apple Accessibility

RE: iPhone 8 and triple click home

2019-11-21 Thread Debbie Downey
Thank you Jim and Lynne!

That did it!

I know that I can tell Siri to turn Voiceover on and off but sometimes I find
it easier just to do it manually!

Thanks again!

I love this list!

Hello, I have noticed that the triple click home is not always set to turn on
Voiceover, so I have had to go to settings, then accessibility, and way down at
the bottom,, in fact, the last option, is Accessibility Shortcut. This is the
one you may want to activate to ensure Voiceover is selected.
Thanks.

Talking tuner is great for many stringed instruments, but the developer does
not recommend it for pianos.
Two limited of a range I think was the reason.

Hi,
I’m extremely tired of having sounds and voiceover routed through my
iPhone 8’s internal speaker, despite a Bose SoundWear neck speaker
being connected. I’ve just about had it, the only way I know to fix it
is to go back to iOS 12.4.1. Can I still restore to 12.4.1 if I have the
.ipsw, or am I out of luck having to suffer with these iOS 13 bluetooth
issues?
Help!

Hi,

I know apps like this exist. Are any of them accessible?

Thanks for your help in advance.

iPhone 8 and triple click home

2019-11-21 Thread Debbie Downey
Hello,

I just got a new iPhone 8 last Friday and today I had the occasion to turn
off Voiceover. I tried the triple click home and it just took me to the App
Switcher. I played with the speed of the home click and tried several times
with it being on the default or the slowest and it made no difference. My
husband has a new iPhone 8 also and he isn't having a problem with this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

We are both running IOS 13.2.3

Thank you!

Debbie

Re: VoiceOver not Playing with iPhone 7 and Bose Soundlink 2 Speaker

2019-11-21 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
I’ve been using iOS 13 since dev beta 1 (yes, I have a dev account,
because I’m spoiled and I don’t like to wait for things, which got
me in trouble this time because of the Bose bluetooth issue), anyway,
this bug has been present since dev beta 1, and I’ve reported it
through the feedback app and also to apple accessibility. Apple
accessibility keeps giving me the spiel “apple is aware of this
problem but cannot comment on a timeline”, blah blah blah. All I want
for Christmas this year is to be able to turn on my Bose SoundWear and
have it connect to my iPhone 8 and have all VO, sounds, system sounds,
and media come through it like it used to pre iOS 13. I’ll come down
from my soap box now, lol, it’s just so frustrating. I’m hoping the
more people that report this, the faster Apple will fix it. Apparently,
it’s not only impacting speakers, but also hearing aids.

connected to it. I assumed this was by design with iOS 13.x but
perhaps we should report this to Apple Accessibility.

Hi All,

I have an iPhone 8 and a Bose mini 2 Soundlink speaker. (Four years
ago I got it as a freebie from Verizon.) However, voiceover not
coming over the speaker seems to be an iOS 13 thing. I know it worked
with iOS 12.4 because I used it during baseball season. What could be
the difference?

Take care and have fun!

Hi Caroline,

What exactly do you mean by " My Bluetooth does not do the haptics
through the phone speaker with my cheapy Bluetooth"?
Haptics are vibrations and really have nothing to do with speakers.
Do you maybe mean system sounds?

My Bluetooth does not do the haptics through the phone speaker with
my cheapy Bluetooth, but I have navigation problems with it,
especially in Contacts and when using Section Index.

With my hearing aids, everything works perfect, but, the haptics go
through the speaker. My husband asked the other day, "what's all that
clicking noise?"

So, that is why I want to go to Wal-Mart and try a Logitech. It will
be worth ten or so dollars more to walk out knowing that at least as
far as this update, the thing works.

I have often heard people are having problems with Bose Bluetooth

Bose implements Bluetooth.

Yes that's a generic response I've seen copied and pasted many times by

Re: VoiceOver not Playing with iPhone 7 and Bose Soundlink 2 Speaker

2019-11-21 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
I sent an email to Bose, and they said it’s apple’s issue, which I
really believe it is. I’ve left MULTIPLE MULTIPLE MULTIPLE feedback
emails to apple and Apple Accessibility, they said they’re aware of
the problem and cannot comment on when it will be fixed!! Give me a
break! Anyway, I’ve had quite enough of my iPhone 8 with iOS 13 not
playing nice with my Bose products and REALLY want to downgrade to iOS
12.4.1. Is that even possible?

Help!

Re: accessible tuning apps that can be used to help tune a piano

2019-11-21 Thread Richard Turner
I copied the description below, but if you want to tune to a string sound being
played,, this is very good as it repeats the note until you stop it and you can
switch octaves.
I would think this would be good for piano and it says it is specifically
accessible with VoiceOver.
Description:
tuner + Tune your Guitar, Bass, Banjo, Mandolin, Cello, Violin, Piano, Viola,
or Ukulele in seconds. This app plays perfectly tuned notes for you to match
your pitch to. The sounds are both real audio and sine wave form. We're also
proud to announce that Tuner+ is now supports full VoiceOver Accessibility.
This app does NOT analyze the notes of your instrument to tell you if you are
sharp or flat. It is just a quick way to get reference notes for ear tuning in
any key. Enjoy! Nick Moby Pixel

Tom,

I have had 2 iPhones with the swelling battery problem. This current phone is
the last replacement for aone whose battery swelled up and popped the face off
the phone. It is apparently a known issue with the iPhone batteries and apple
will replace the battery and screen at no charge for that.

I don't see the need to go to an iphone 11pro. I don't see that it has any real
advantages over the 11.

Re: Need to replace iPhone 8 looking for pros/cons of iPhone 11 vs iPhone X

2019-11-21 Thread Donald Raikes
Tom,

I have had 2 iPhones with the swelling battery problem. This current
phone is the last replacement for aone whose battery swelled up and
popped the face off the phone. It is apparently a known issue with
the iPhone batteries and apple will replace the battery and screen at
no charge for that.

I don't see the need to go to an iphone 11pro. I don't see that it has
any real advantages over the 11.

I just asked my Google Home Mini "Can you speak in a different voice" and it
told me I should open the google Assistant app, tap on a bunch of things

I listened to this Issa Rae voice and she sounds too southern for my Canadian

speak like said person. I would check but I am not near my google home at the

Hi.

I know some of the voices for Voiceover are samples of real people. I’d like to
know if I can get this done with my Girlfriend’s voice? I’d rather have her
synthetic voice talk to me over other voices.

Just curious.

Yes you can. I use the Issa Rea voice. As well. I think you just tell
it to speak like said person. I would check but I am not near my

RE: VoiceOver not Playing with iPhone 7 and Bose Soundlink 2 Speaker

2019-11-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Alan,

I don't think this is by design, my Logitech Wonderboom 2 and Outdoor Tech
Turtle speakers work as expected with all audio coming from the Bluetooth
speaker.
I am not saying it doesn't effect other speakers, but it seems Bose speakers
really seem to be mostly affected by this and I would report it to Bose as well
as Apple.

Debby,

I'm getting the same behavior with my iPhone 8 and my Bose Mini Soundlink 2
speaker. Ever since I upgraded to iOS 13, Voiceover comes out of the phone
speaker and not the Bose Mini when my iPhone is connected to it. I assumed this
was by design with iOS 13.x but perhaps we should report this to Apple
Accessibility.

Hi All,

I have an iPhone 8 and a Bose mini 2 Soundlink speaker. (Four years ago I got
it as a freebie from Verizon.) However, voiceover not coming over the speaker
seems to be an iOS 13 thing. I know it worked with iOS 12.4 because I used it
during baseball season. What could be the difference?

Take care and have fun!

What exactly do you mean by " My Bluetooth does not do the haptics through the

Haptics are vibrations and really have nothing to do with speakers. Do you
maybe mean system sounds?

My Bluetooth does not do the haptics through the phone speaker with my cheapy
Bluetooth, but I have navigation problems with it, especially in Contacts and
when using Section Index.

With my hearing aids, everything works perfect, but, the haptics go through the
speaker. My husband asked the other day, "what's all that clicking noise?"

So, that is why I want to go to Wal-Mart and try a Logitech. It will be worth
ten or so dollars more to walk out knowing that at least as far as this update,
the thing works.

I have often heard people are having problems with Bose Bluetooth

2019-11-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

RE: VoiceOver not Playing with iPhone 7 and Bose Soundlink 2 Speaker

2019-11-21 Thread Alan Lemly

2019-11-21 Thread Alan Lemly
Sandy,

I've reported the Mail app loss of focus to Apple Accessibility after upgrading
to iOS 13.2 and they replied acknowledging the issue and its reporting by
numerous users. Apparently, they are still working on it since it's still
present in iOS 13.2.3.

I think it's a good idea for everyone who experiences this issue to report it
to Apple Accessibility because the squeakier the wheel, the more likely it is
to get greased.

RE: iPhone 6s question

2019-11-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You may find that if you took the time to do a full restore of you r phone and
set it up as a new device its performance may increase. As I said, only do this
I fyou have the time because depending on how many apps you have, how many
services you have like OneDrive, Dropbox, online banking, hone automation etc.
this could be a bit of a process and of course there then is all your media
like photos, videos, music you may have downloaded to the device etc. This of
course you have to make sure is backed up. If you back up to iCloud photos and
videos should be fine, but despite how much work it is, I usually do this every
2 or 3 years and usually after I get a new phone because I find it beneficial.

screen above the mute switch and volume controls separated from the chassis
just enough that I could insert a fingernail. I don’t have Apple Care but
that’s not a problem in this case. At the Apple store, I was told that even
though my phone was out of warranty, Apple would repair or replace the phone at
no charge. Apple took the phone, sent it somewhere and gave me a loaner to use
while my phone was being checked out. Turns out my iPhone 8 was easily fixed
and returned to the Apple store. I got an e-mail saying it was ready for pickup
and next day I was able to exchange the loaner for my phone.
Had I been faced with a costly repair I probably would have upgraded to an
iPhone 11, depending on what AT would charge me per month.

Re: Viewing posts in a facebook group

2019-11-21 Thread Donna
Hi,

If you mean in order from newest to oldest, No. Post are moved closer to the
top, depending on the date/time & the number of the most recent comments to a
post. Example, if I comment on a post in a group that was shared on September
2nd & another person or so comments on the same post, the interest in the post
moves the post closer to the top. Try searching the group for post made on a
certain day. This is helpful in that you are able to read the most recent post.
The drawback, the way that the post are displayed is harder to follow.

hi,
Jumping in here… I have updated my iPhone 8 to the latest iOS, but I'm still
having great difficulty when doing my emails, the cursor still jumps around
when in the list of emails, so, if I go into a message do you what I want
with it and come back out of it, I am was placed at the beginning of the
list of emails. similarly, if I am reviewing my list of unread emails, and a
new one comes in, I'm jump straight back to the top of the list again. as I
frequently have several hundred emails in the morning, this is driving me
nuts, so, I'm doing my mail using my old iPhone 6. is anyone else having
this problem? If so, please tell, otherwise, I shall try some resets et

The Voiceover problems after a call were an issue in the earlier iOS 13
releases, but seem to have been fixed entirely with iOS 13.2 and we are
now on 13.2.3 with 13.3 already in Beta for some time, wouldn't be
surprised if 13.3 came out for the public either before Christmas or in
the first part of January.

If you encounter a bug just report them to Apple Accessibility.

I have an iPhone 8 and a Bose mini 2 Soundlink speaker. (Four years ago I got

seems to be an iOS 13 thing. I know it worked with iOS 12.4 because I used it

What exactly do you mean by " My Bluetooth does not do the haptics through the

Haptics are vibrations and really have nothing to do with speakers. Do you

I am having the same issue with my Bose Soundware speaker. I have sent emails

installed language ... how would you wirkaround these bugs?
If one is using the native mail app constantly there is no way to rule the
focus. But if mail and notifications don't matter you there is no reason
 not to update.

 Hi everybody;
I have been using Apple products and it’s accompanying software for the
 past 10 years.

 I’ve always worked around Boggs.
 Nothing is perfect.
That’s a fact of life and software.
I believe everyone will be much happier if they learnto work around the
 bugs.
If you encounter a bug just report them to Apple Accessibility.
 Hope this helps
 Anthony

hi,
Jumping in here… I have updated my iPhone 8 to the latest iOS, but I'm still
having great difficulty when doing my emails, the cursor still jumps around
when in the list of emails, so, if I go into a message do you what I want with
it and come back out of it, I am was placed at the beginning of the list of
emails. similarly, if I am reviewing my list of unread emails, and a new one
comes in, I'm jump straight back to the top of the list again. as I frequently
have several hundred emails in the morning, this is driving me nuts, so, I'm
doing my mail using my old iPhone 6. is anyone else having this problem? If so,
please tell, otherwise, I shall try some resets et cetera.
thanks, Sandy

The bugs are becoming funnier and funnier.
Yesterday I read on facebook, several American english synthesizers can
even not pronounce the word gun and speak it as gna or something like this.
A friend of mine which is a music producer and extremely advanced ios and
mac os user with the use of protools and all that sound stuff, he has the
bug since ios13.2. that his voiceover is fading-in each time when he takes
his iphone after let say 30 seconds of rest.
So stay on ios12 like I do.

Are we at a point where iOS 13 is recommended? I'm still hanging
 steady on iOS 12.
