I have an iPhone 8 and the only time I encounter such sluggishness is if I 
restart the phone when it's plugged into power.
After it come s up I can enter my PIN normally, but right after that it's 
extremely sluggish, if that is what happens to you unplug it for 5 seconds and 
all will be well.
I have no idea if this is something which happens to sighted people, I did at 
one point report it to Apple Accessibility right after iOS 13 came out, but 
since not many others seem to notice this or maybe most don't turn off their 
phone and start it up again when it's charging I guess it never went anywhere. 
For me it's really not a big issue any more since I know that all I have to do 
is to unplug it or take it off my wireless charger.

Either way, the sluggish operation happens each and every time I restart the 
phone. Has anyone else experienced this and solved it? If so, how'd you do it?

If the phone cannot be found, it can be placed into lost mode or erased via 
icloud.com. Lost mode will allow for the phone to be locked and for a custom 
message to be displayed. A phone number where you can be reached is also 
allowed to be entered.

Not sure how this ended up in a thread with subject "Seeing AI", but no, any 
phone released this spring would not be 5G. Rumours are that this fall's new 
iPhones will support it, but as Richard said, we won't know for sure. Anyways, 
5G in the mainstream is still at least 2 years away for most of us. Especially 
here in Canada we first have to see what the government decides with respect to 
letting Huawei become part of the 5G infrastructure or not.

In fact, if an SE 2 phone is released in the next few months which now seems 
quite likely, it is certainly going to still have a home button, but it will be 
a virtual home button like on the iPhon e8 not a mechanical button like on the 
6S or the current SE. This means there is a small indent in the screen which 
feels like the home button, but pressing on it only generates a small amount of 
haptic feedback which again feels a little like pressing an actual button, but 
there is no mechanical component which is subject to wear and tear and of 
course as it's just part of the screen there is no way for this to be a place 
where any moisture could get in.

Note that with some drives, you will get a message that the accessory requires 
too much power.  In that case, you just need to do the following:
Unplug the lightning to USB adapter from the phone.
Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.
Plug the adapter back into the phone.

Frankly, I have no intentions of using any of the apps that appear inside the 
messages app when I am trying to compose a message to a chosen recipient. How

back into Focus .

I see that you are a pastor. Have you ever used an ios device and display when 
preaching a message? I have done it a few times, but still don't feel confident 
enough with it and went back to writing notes out on the perkins. Of course 
that has a lot to do with the fact that several cells on my Focus 14 are messed 
up. Some dots stick, some don't show up. But just curious as to how that has 
worked for you if you have done it at all.

Something Braille Device users will find helpful.

Here's a tip for Braille Device users.

One of my first postings to the iPhone list was an inquiry about what to do 
when the keyboard on the phone is hidden.  On the day that I posted my 
question, I had tried to use my phone's keyboard, only to find that it wasn't 
there.  I was advised that the only way I could make the keyboard visible again 
was to perform an action on the Braille device, spacebar plus keys 1, 4 and 6, 
the sh sign.  Ever since that time, I go into a text field such as a text 
message and perform this operation before turning off the braille device.  The 
performed action is a toggle operation.  So I suggest it be performed whenever 
you're about to put your device away.  Otherwise, you could be out somewhere 
without the device as I was, and have no way to bring the keyboard's visibility 
back into Focus .

A New iPhone SE?

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on a new low-cost 
iPhone that is set to be released during the first half of 2020, perhaps in
March 2020, with Apple aiming to bring up-to-date technology to customers at a 
lower price point.

Kuo has been referring to this device as an "iPhone SE 2" due to its expected 
price point of $399, which would be in line with the original iPhone SE,
but in reality, it's unlikely Apple is going to release an iPhone with the 
"iPhone SE 2" name. There's no concrete word on what it will be named when it's
released, but one rumor from Japanese site Mac Otakara has suggested it
could be called
the "iPhone 9."

Calling the iPhone an iPhone SE 2 brings to mind the iPhone 5-style design of 
the iPhone SE with its small 4-inch display, but this new iPhone is expected
to look more like an iPhone 8 than anything else. In fact, based on the rumors 
we've heard, this new device is going to be an updated iPhone 8.

It will feature a 4.7-inch LCD display (likely
supplied by LG),
but will come upgraded with the same A13 chip that's in the iPhone 11 and 11 
Pro, meaning it will be super speedy. It will include 3GB RAM, and it will
continue to offer Touch ID instead of Face ID, with the Touch ID Home button at 
the bottom of the device.

There will be a single-lens rear camera to keep costs low, and it is expected 
to come in space gray, silver, and red color options. Like Apple's flagship
iPhone lineup, it will not feature 3D Touch, instead likely adopting Haptic 
Touch. Storage options are likely to include 64 and 128GB.

There are many people who loved the form factor of the iPhone SE as it was 
Apple's smallest available iPhone until it was discontinued, but it sounds like
4.7 inches is as small as Apple plans to go in the future.

The upcoming low-cost iPhone is expected to be a popular upgrade option for 
iPhone users who currently have an iPhone 6 or 6s and are looking for an 
affordable
upgrade that offers the same feature set. It's also likely to be popular in 
countries where lower-cost devices sell well, and Kuo believes Apple will sell
somewhere between
20 to 30 million units
in 2020.

Kuo has provided us with the most information about the new device, but other 
sources including
Nikkei,
Taiwan's
Economic Daily News,
and
Bloomberg
have also confirmed that Apple is working on a new low-cost 4.7-inch iPhone set 
to launch in the spring of 2020.

The most recent rumors suggest the iPhone SE 2 will
enter mass production
in January or
February of 2020
and will launch at the end of March.

TWO MODELS?

A rumor from DigiTimes, citing sources in the Taiwanese supply chain, has said 
that Apple
may release
two versions of the iPhone SE 2 in 2020, though it's not clear if this 
information is correct as DigiTimes is often hit or miss with the rumors that it
shares.

The site says that iPhone suppliers have received orders for "six items" of 
iPhones, including four mainline phones coming in 2020 and two other devices
that could be iPhone SE 2 models. That does not agree with what reliable Apple 
analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said.

Kuo believes there will be a total of five iPhones in 2020, including the 
4.7-inch "iPhone SE 2," a 5.4-inch iPhone, two 6.1-inch iPhones, and a 6.7-inch
iPhone, with all of the latter models coming in the fall.

It was done with Dolby On, a free app that is only in the United States app 
store for now.
I think he said he just used the iPhone's built-in microphone.

In fact, if an SE 2 phone is released in the next few months which now seems 
quite likely, it is certainly going to still have a home button, but it will be 
a virtual home button like on the iPhon e8 not a mechanical button like on the 
6S or the current SE. This means there is a small indent in the screen which 
feels like the home button, but pressing on it only generates a small amount of 
haptic feedback which again feels a little like pressing an actual button, but 
there is no mechanical component which is subject to wear and tear and of 
course as it's just part of the screen there is no way for this to be a place 
where any moisture could get in.

Today, I just got an iPhone 11. I think I am going to really like it. I can see 
why they eliminated the Home Button - more screen room. The guy that set up my 
phone said I was right. He doesn't think one will ever be back, even if a SE 
comes out this spring. 

Here's my question. How to I use Seeing AI? I got him to download it for me. 

Incidentally, for $19.99, I got a wireless charger and am so glad I did.

Hi to all.  Richard thank you so much.  I tried out dolby on and it is
so cool.  I actually recorded the first verse of a song with just my
phone, guitar and my voice and after a bit of playing with some
settings, it really sounds good.  It isn't quite good enough for
youtube just yet, I have to learn the next verse of the song.  Are we
allowed to send attachments?  I'd love to get your guys input on how I
did.

Try Dolby On, it is free.
It records in M4A or Lossless audio if you want very large files but even in 
the M4A format, you will be amazed at how good it records from the built-in 
microphone.
I don't know if you can upload directly to YouTube from it, but you can 
share to Dropbox or your computer and then do the uploads I'm sure.

It is fully VoiceOver accessible.
If you have a need for multi-track, try MTSR, but it is a bit tricky to use.
I think Dolby On makes the best sounding recordings for free out there.
You have lots of choices for what settings to turn off or leave on, etc.

Hi to all.  Can anyone recommend some good apps for recording my guitar 
playing and singing with the hope of possibly uploading to youtube.  I've 
got something called band lab, but that isn't really accessible.  I saw an 
app called pro microphone but that cost around
$24 per year and I don't want to pay $24 for an app if I don't know if it is 
accessible with voice over or not.  I heard of garage band but I'm having a 
hard time finding it on the app store.  Thanks for any suggestions.

In fact, if an SE 2 phone is released in the next few months which now seems 
quite likely, it is certainly going to still have a home button, but it will be 
a virtual home button like on the iPhon e8 not a mechanical button like on the 
6S or the current SE. This means there is a small indent in the screen which 
feels like the home button, but pressing on it only generates a small amount of 
haptic feedback which again feels a little like pressing an actual button, but 
there is no mechanical component which is subject to wear and tear and of 
course as it's just part of the screen there is no way for this to be a place 
where any moisture could get in.

Today, I just got an iPhone 11. I think I am going to really like it. I can see 
why they eliminated the Home Button - more screen room. The guy that set up my 
phone said I was right. He doesn't think one will ever be back, even if a SE 
comes out this spring. 

Here's my question. How to I use Seeing AI? I got him to download it for me. 

Incidentally, for $19.99, I got a wireless charger and am so glad I did.

Hi Keith,

When I got my first Netatmo the app was almost unusable and back then (I think 
it was around 2012 or 2013) their head developer was a Spanish guy named Carlos 
who fortunately was very interested in making this accessible. He gave me 
access to Beta versions via Testflight and for a few months I spend a lot of 
time testing and suggesting. It's actually been on my To Do List to see if he 
is still there and to contact him about this issue. Switching pages and swiping 
works just fine, but it would be nice if that information was on the screen 
where you could also explore it more easily by touch.
Also, it would be nice if historic data was accessible, e.g. yesterday's 
minimum and maximum temperatures etc. which currently cannot be accessed with 
Voiceover.

By the way, if you are for example, on your main indoor module, do you get 
minimum and maximum temperatures or does it go from current temperature 
straight to CO2 level?
If you don't get minimum and maximum, then next time you swipe and get to the 
current temperature just do a double tap and that will permanently reveal 
minimum and maximum for that day.
This applies to any of the modules.

Lastly, apparently the newer Netatmo Stations are home Kit compatible, not sure 
if you have to do anything, but you should be able to ask SIRI for information 
and have it displayed in the Home app.
If you own an Alexa device then there is also a Netatmo skill and it works 
reasonably well.
If I want to know the outdoor temperature I ask Alexa the following:

Alexa, ask Netatmo what the temperature is outside.
Or I can ask:
Alexa, ask Netatmo what the temperature is in the bedroom (or kitchen or 
downstairs)
I named my modules Kitchen (for the indoor module of the main station), my 
other modules are Bedroom and Downstairs and I actually bought a third indoor 
module a while back, but haven't set it up yet and my outdoor module is called 
"Deck".
However, if I ask for temperature for the deck Alexa say s it can't find it and 
tells me I have modules called Kitchen, Bedroom and Downstairs, then it asks do 
I want information for the first, second and third and I can say "second" and 
it will give me the Bedroom, but for all indoor modules when Alexa answers it 
will say "The temperature inside is, for example, 21 degrees, it will not 
answer "The temperature in the bedroom is 21 degrees" or "the temperature 
downstairs is 19 degrees".
My main station is too old to support Home Kit, maybe some day I'll buy a new 
one and try to sell this one, but for sure I would wait for one of their 20% 
off events and then maybe I'll use some of my Aeroplan points which also allow 
me to buy Amazon gift cards since I think you can buy Netatmo through Amazon as 
well.
I think Netatmo is still one of the best weather stations out there and while 
some thermostats offer sensors you can put in different rooms, I haven't really 
come across another actual weather station which gives you such a comprehensive 
set of information especially if you do end up getting the full package 
including rain gauge and wind gauge which I have. I still have to mount the 
wind gauge properly on my roof, I asked a guy who does metal work and welding 
to make me a 1 m tall pole with a V-shaped base which I can mount on the 
ridgeline of my roof and which has a small plate to which I can attach the 
little mount that comes with the wind gauge, but he didn't get it done before 
the winter hit and while it hadn't snowed much, we did get a dump of about 8 
inches yesterday so it's probably better to wait until April when the snow will 
be gone and I can mount this properly and permanently. The same goes for my 
rain gauge, I usually just have it on the table on my deck, but ideally it 
should also be on a pole about 4 feet off the ground. Anyways, I always take it 
inside in the winter since we rarely get liquid rain here between mid November 
and the end of March and even if it does rain here and there, it often freezes 
then at night and constructing some sort of heated surrounding so the snow 
melts and the rain gauge can operate is entirely too much trouble.

Esther said Apple Accessibility eventually got it sorted.
It sounds like it was more involved than what could have been dealt with 
through a bunch of Emails.
She also didn't say how long she was on the phone, just that it took until 3AM.
We are all glad to help when we can, but some times the call to Apple 
Accessibility will result in a faster solution.
Emails can end up taking a couple of days or more to figure out what's 
happening.

Try Dolby On, it is free.
It records in M4A or Lossless audio if you want very large files but even in 
the M4A format, you will be amazed at how good it records from the built-in 
microphone.
I don't know if you can upload directly to YouTube from it, but you can share 
to Dropbox or your computer and then do the uploads I'm sure.
It is fully VoiceOver accessible.
If you have a need for multi-track, try MTSR, but it is a bit tricky to use.
I think Dolby On makes the best sounding recordings for free out there.
You have lots of choices for what settings to turn off or leave on, etc.

Richard, that is what happened to me when I first got my SE, really drained the 
battery just playing cards. 

I am surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having a Home Button. I 
don't think that they'll ever come back, even if they come out with a new SE - 
they occupy screen space.

Along with using extra battery, it is supposed to wake up your phone when you 
pick it up. But, if it is in a bag/purse, that motion can cause it to 
constantly wake up, thus using extra battery. 
If one did not use a passcode or face ID, it would be the same as pressing the 
home button, or the slide gesture on phones without a home button.

Hi to all.  Can anyone recommend some good apps for recording my
guitar playing and singing with the hope of possibly uploading to
youtube.  I've got something called band lab, but that isn't really
accessible.  I saw an app called pro microphone but that cost around
$24 per year and I don't want to pay $24 for an app if I don't know if
it is accessible with voice over or not.  I heard of garage band but
I'm having a hard time finding it on the app store.  Thanks for any
suggestions.

Esther, what happened to your iPhone.  I didn't want a plus phone,
because I've seen one, and they are just to big and especially to long
in my opinion.  The folks at apple accessibility are great.

my 7+ and I was on with Apple accessibility last Thursday until 3 o’clock in 
the morning. I had a guy that wasn’t sure what to do. Eventually, we got

Hi to all.  I am really enjoying playing with the voice memo app on my
iPhone.  I found out that the app wasn't on my phone and I
redownloaded it from the app store.  I find it pretty easy to use and
it is kind of fun to record a memo, and send it as a message to
someone in my contacts.  The recording quality isn't bad either.  I'm
going to play around with it, and see how my guitar playing might
sound if I use the app and the microphone on my bose speaker.  If good
enough, I might upload to youtube.
