RE: Stopping Request for Apple ID & PW

2020-02-21 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I've noticed my iPad mini 5 struggles with my touch id also.

This is using production iPad OS 13.3.1

I've got 5 fingers setup and it struggles to pick up them all.

I don't have the same issue, but using touch ID for things like making app
purchases doesn't work on my iPhone 8. Apple accessibility doesn't know why
this is. I never have to enter in my apple ID, but my password is required for

Re: looking for scanning stand recommendations please

2020-02-21 Thread Richard Turner
It could be that he is on the road with his main job.
He does the stands more as a weekend project when he can as he charges
basically what he pays for the parts.
Have you checked with the NFB store?
I have no personal connection other than really liking the stand.

there was a video, but it isn't that hard and the parts stay together, so it is
a matter of understanding how to fold and unfold it and extending the feet.
The written instructions are quite good.
You might find the video either on the

I like the Fopydo stand because it is simple, effective, and inexpensive.
It is made from corrugated plastic and will take any smart phone and even an
iPad Mini.
I dislike the Giraffe Reader because it is built for only one size phone, so if
you change phones you have to replace the stand and it is way more expensive
than the others.
The Fopydo also folds flat.
The DannyBoy is fine, just a bit more fragile and not quite so easy to pack for
carrying from one place to another, but is fine if you use it always in the
same place.

Well, I am a huge fan of the Fopydo scanning stand. But, I think he has run
into issues with his local post office so that he no longer can ship free
matter.
I'll not voice my opinion of that post office ... but you may want to check
with the NFB Store.
I do not have that link handy, but I believe he was going to work with them
because they could buy in bulk and ship free matter.
I was a beta tester when he was designing the stand.
Its my favorite.
Another one that is pretty good, but $39.99 or so, is the one sold through
Blind Mice Mega Mall, the Dannyboy stand.

Re: Stopping Request for Apple ID & PW

2020-02-21 Thread Richard Turner
I've never heard of this.
Being required to enter the passcode, yes, but Apple ID and Password, no.
Either the ID isn't completely setup or there is something off with the Touch
ID and Passcode settings.
As usual, this would be easier to solve if your friend called Apple
Accessibility where they could do a screen share and walk them through what to
do.

Focus on the phone number in the Recents tab of the Pone app.

Swipe up or down until you can double-tap "More Info".

There are buttons near the bottom for "Create New Contact" and "add to Existing

smart vision 2

2020-02-21 Thread Amy Johnson
Hi all I have the smart vision 2 smartphone and often my phone speaks
security alert and sometimes gives me data usage warnings when I have
unlimited data. Wondering how you know what the security warning
means and why I get the data warning when I have unlimited data?
Thanks,
Amy

RE: Adding a recent call to Contacts.

2020-02-21 Thread Rob Armstrong
Focus on the phone number in the Recents tab of the Pone app.

Swipe up or down until you can double-tap "More Info".

There are buttons near the bottom for "Create New Contact" and "add to Existing

carolyn,
I've only encountered this if the person is already in my contacts.
It should still offer add to existing contact.
But it doesn't.
I'll write Apple about this, and you should too.

the only downside with the Blind Shell is that it works only with AT&T
and T-Mobile. If you live in the United States and are in a rural area
where Verizon is the only carrier with service then this phone is not
an option. Verizon offers service in some of the most remote places in
America.

I have not run across anything that suggests that is changeable.

Patients patients and patients.
When I have an app and I am unfamiliar with I do with two finger swipe up and
read the entire screen so that I could see how the elements interact.
Then go through the elements one by one until you find the one you want.

One way of doing this would be to buy an iPhone, take it to a repair shop and
simply instruct them to remove the cameras. Remember of course that you'd loos
access to functionality such as Face ID though.
