Sandra, from the top of your Home Page, if you just put your finger on the
first icon (mine is Contacts), just right flick until it says Settings - VOILA,
double click, and in you go. Settings is my playground. If I could do as well
in Safari as I do in Settings, I'd be really getting somewhere.

Indeed, it does! since I'm sort-of used to it, think I'll stick with my current
model. Now, if I could just figure out how to get back to the Settings menu
when I need it... I am still a newbee, just starting to tackle common
tasks--tech dinosaur that I am, having had it for almost 2 years!
Unfortunately, don't do well with the audio training materials, and the Braille
materials I know of aren't always specific enough or written in a helpful
order...

No you need to be more specific than that. Put how to put iPhone followed by
your model IE iPhone SE in recovery mode

Example

How to put iPhone SE in recovery mode.

I think you are talking about Recovery mode.

Not sure the steps.

If you google how to put an Apple device in recovery mode, I suspect you will
get it.

2020-04-08 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Keith,

You are right. This has to be done with iTunes. You first connect the iPad to
the computer. here's where I don't totally know the steps, but I'll give you
what I do know. To put a phone in recovery mode, you press the volume up
button, release that, then press the volumae down button, release that. Now
press the sleep/wake button and hold it until the computer tells you it is in
recovery mode. You cnow take it from there with iTunes. You want the option
that says restore and update. Hope this helps a little bit at least.H a great
night!

The A9 chip. I misspoke earlier, the 8 has the A11 and the new phone will have
the A13 chip.
So, the new phone will have a very noticeable difference I think from the 6S.

Well, the new phone will have the same i13 chip that the iPHone 11's have.
The iPhone 8 has the i11 chip.
So, That alone will make some difference, but is it enough to upgrade from
an 8 to the new phone? That is clearly up to the individual.
I suspect the camera will be as good as the 8 and it may have more RAM, but
until it is announced, "only the shadow knows."

RE: iPhone 8 vs the new SE 2020?

2020-04-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It will most certainly receive updates longer, but in 2 or 3 years a very large
number of people will want to get a new iPhone anyways with 5G support and if
you are talking 2 or 3 years it makes little sense to me to spend money now for
upgrading from an iPhone 8 to a new SE and then in 2 or 3 years you again spend
money to get whichever phone you choose with 5G support. I think once 5G is
widely available it will make an incredible amount of difference and it may
open up many new doors for apps which use AI and AR and the new iPhone SE will
most certainly not have 5G support yet, that is probably reserved for the new
top end phones this fall.
Going from 2 to 3 Gb of RAM and even from an A11 to an A13 processor probably
is not such a big deal for most people who are doing their usual every-day
stuff like making phone calls, sending messages, checking Facebook, reading and
sending emails, listening to music and audio books and so on.
For people who are still on an iPhone 6S let alone a 6 or 5S it is absolutely
worthwhile to upgrade, even for those with an iPhone 7 it makes some sense, but
having an iPhone 8 there is absolutely nothing which gets me excited about this
new iPhone SE.

please help me remember the most drastic manner of attempting to repair an idevice

2020-04-08 Thread 'Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.' via VIPhone
hi,
Several years ago, I had an iPhone that was not working at all, and Apple
accessibility guided me through what they termed a drastic measure to try to
repair the phone. This method required the use of iTunes. It essentially reset
the device.
I am now trying to help my wife with a similarly dysfunctional iPad. I cannot
remember what this method entailed. If anyone thinks they know what this
approach is, could you please provide me a step-by-step on how to pursue it?
The device will be discarded if we can’t get it to work, so there really is no
risk in trying just about anything.
Thanks in advance, Keith

Well, the new phone will have the same i13 chip that the iPHone 11's have.
The iPhone 8 has the i11 chip.
So, That alone will make some difference, but is it enough to upgrade from an 8
to the new phone? That is clearly up to the individual.
I suspect the camera will be as good as the 8 and it may have more RAM, but
until it is announced, "only the shadow knows."

RE: iPhone 8 vs the new SE 2020?

2020-04-08 Thread Carolyn
Sandra, from the top of your Home Page, if you just put your finger on the
first icon (mine is Contacts), just right flick until it says Settings - VOILA,
double click, and in you go. Settings is my playground. If I could do as well
in Safari as I do in Settings, I'd be really getting somewhere.

Indeed, it does! since I'm sort-of used to it, think I'll stick with my current

when I need it... I am still a newbee, just starting to tackle common

Since the iPhone 8 was released in September, 2017, I would hope that the
second generation iPhone SE provided it is ever released would have more
technical prowess than a phone which is over two and a half years old.

Hello,

I’ve been watching the conversation aboutthe
new SE with interest. I was curious and looked
on E Bay at iPhone 8 prices and they are quite affordable.

For the sake of this conversation let’s assume
that the prices are close, which is the more updated phone? The 8 or new
SE?

Thanks for your hellp,

Kim

RE: iPhone 8 vs the new SE 2020?

2020-04-08 Thread Sandra Streeter
Indeed, it does! since I'm sort-of used to it, think I'll stick with my current
model. Now, if I could just figure out how to get back to the Settings menu
when I need it... I am still a newbee, just starting to tackle common
tasks--tech dinosaur that I am, having had it for almost 2 years!
Unfortunately, don't do well with the audio training materials, and the Braille
materials I know of aren't always specific enough or written in a helpful
order...

2020-04-08 Thread MamaPeach
I have them too, but they are on an older device that has more room on it
and I didn't even think to look through those. All of the Kid Friendly
Software games are great!. I think I heard that there won't be any more
developed, which is very sad. Just have to enjoy the ones that were
developed already.

Re: frustrated with Samsung TV built in voice guidance

2020-04-08 Thread Theresa Ortega
Hello,

There is a way to lower the speech volume as well as the speech rate you must
go under settings to do this, I have the Samsung TV with speech and that’s how
I control the speech output.

Hope this helps

PS you can also just turn the speech off altogether.

iPhone 8 vs the new SE 2020?

2020-04-08 Thread 'Kimberly Samco' via VIPhone
Hello,

I’ve been watching the conversation aboutthe new SE with interest. I was
curious and looked on E Bay at iPhone 8 prices and they are quite affordable.

For the sake of this conversation let’s assume that the prices are close, which
is the more updated phone? The 8 or new SE?

Thanks for your hellp,

Kim

I’m sorry you were having difficulty with your Samsung model. Obviously, I
don’t know what you have. I Purchased a 2016 Samsung with voice guidance and
I’ve been very happy with it. It reads the guides in the menus without
difficulty. So I am uncertain where your issues are and perhaps you don’t have
the right TV, I just don’t know. But TV is made after 2016 by Samsung are

2020-04-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You would almost certainly be able to get more for your iPhone 8 if you sold it
privately rather than getting the little bit Apple would give you as a trade-in.
I just sold my Mom’s old iPhone 6S Plus 64 Gb here in Canada for $180, could
have probably gotten a bit mor, but I wanted to not fuss around so when I saw
somebody on a local Facebook buy and sell list asking if somebody had an
inexpensive older iPhone for sale I offered it to her for $200, she asked if I
was firm on that and I told her my Mom would probably take $180, but not less
and she came by later that day, gave me $180 cash and that was that.
An iPhone 8 if it’s in very good condition and if you have the original box and
are willing to include the wall adapter and a cable should probably get you
around $250 US for a 64 Gb model.

The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be an updated
iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been discovered about the
subject of rumors for the last three years. The 'iPhone SE' is expected to have
a design basically the same as the iPhone 8. While rumors about a low-cost
iPhone refresh have been circulating for years, it now appears that Apple will
debut the device in early 2020. Here's everything that's been discovered about
the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE 2' at a glance According to the
latest rumors and leaks, here are some key points about the "iPhone SE. The
same footprint as the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 footprint Latest-generation A13 chip

moniker, the device is more likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8
instead of the popular 4-inch form factor. At this point, that 4.7-inch
footprint is so likely that case makers are already going all-in on the size.
In late March, cases for an affordable iPhone 8-style device began arriving at
Best Buy . There may also be a larger version of the "iPhone SE" available,
according to leaked code strings within iOS 14. That device would be akin to
the iPhone 8 Plus, just with the same updated internals. We're not currently
expecting any major design overhauls like an edge-to-edge display, OLED panel
or a TrueDepth Face ID sensor suite. Like last year's stable of iPads, the
device will continue to rely on older tech like Touch ID and will sport aging,
bezeled designs. But its price point and internal upgrades, which we'll get to
below, may make it a popular choice for many consumers. 'iPhone SE 2'

"iPhone SE" an overhaul in terms of its internal specifications. But users
should expect incremental updates, not major ones. Back in January 2018,
well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the "iPhone SE 2" would
sport an A13 processor - the same as the CPU in the iPhone 11 - and 3GB of RAM.
More minor updates could include a new Liquid Crystal Polymer antenna design,
which would give the refreshed device better cellular reception and
performance. Leaked code in iOS 14 also suggests that the "iPhone SE" will
retain a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, though it may support the so-called
CarKey feature for locking, unlocking and starting compatible vehicles. The
latest information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available in
64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and will launch in white, black
and PRODUCT(RED) variants. All of this is to say that the new "iPhone SE" will

advancements in silicon, making it an attractive choice for users who have been
holding out on upgrading from older iPhones for reasons of price or
familiarity. iPhone SE availability Rumors about the updated device's launch
date have shifted drastically over the years. In summer 2017, reports suggested
that a second-generation iPhone SE could debut in early 2018, for example. Now,
it appears that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will launch sometime in April 2020. While
a credible tipster indicated that Apple would announce the device on Friday,

With all due respect, you could also have gotten an Apple TV. Then you
would have a fully accessible TV set top box. This may not mean much
given your Samsung TV issues, but you could control the speed and
voice of the Apple TV without much difficulty. You could even import
your VoiceOver settings from the iPhone. I looked on AppleVis and did
not find an entry for the Samsung smart TV. Perhaps you could do a
search in the iOS app store.

Be well,

Bard Mobile was The iPhone Special Edition 2020 or whatever it wil be called from apple Insider

2020-04-08 Thread Marie

I changed the subject to reflect what is being discussed now.
I do not understand why you feel the need to store all these books on your
phone when the NLS site has them all stored for us. I use and love the Bard
app. I download several books, read them and then delete from the phone.
If you are a computer user, you can create a spread sheet with all the
titles you have read and put them in any order you wish so you can re-read
at any time and let the NLS do the storing.
It is different for books you have purchased such as the Audible books. But
I store them on my PC.
Please, don't think I am criticizing how you choose to handle your
books, Just making suggestions.

I'm glad that I do have a 256 gig iPhone 8. I'm so mad at bard mobile
because it doesn't work with the way I organize and rename my bard
books. Since I take off the DB numbers at the ends of the folder book
names the app doesn't recognize if I have all the books of an entire
series on my iPhone. The only way to fix this would be to redownload
any book I wanted back onto my iPhone even if I already own it and it
is on my external hard drive. That is so frustrating. I'm so tempted
to delete bard mobile from my phone entirely. It would free up about
86 gigs worth of space.

Everything known about the 2020 'iPhone SE'

The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be
an updated iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been
discovered about the subject of rumors for the last three years. The
'iPhone SE' is expected to have a design basically the same as the
iPhone 8. While rumors about a low-cost iPhone refresh have been
circulating for years, it now appears that Apple will debut the device
in early 2020. Here's everything that's been discovered about the
upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE 2' at a glance According to
the latest rumors and leaks, here are some key points about the

all-in on the size. In late March, cases for an affordable iPhone
8-style device began arriving at Best Buy . There may also be a larger
version of the "iPhone SE" available, according to leaked code strings
within iOS 14. That device would be akin to the iPhone 8 Plus, just
with the same updated internals. We're not currently expecting any
major design overhauls like an edge-to-edge display, OLED panel or a
TrueDepth Face ID sensor suite. Like last year's stable of iPads, the
device will continue to rely on older tech like Touch ID and will
sport aging, bezeled designs. But its price point and internal

well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the "iPhone SE 2"
would sport an A13 processor - the same as the CPU in the iPhone 11 -
and 3GB of RAM. More minor updates could include a new Liquid Crystal
Polymer antenna design, which would give the refreshed device better
cellular reception and performance. Leaked code in iOS 14 also
suggests that the "iPhone SE" will retain a Touch ID fingerprint
sensor, though it may support the so-called CarKey feature for
locking, unlocking and starting compatible vehicles. The latest
information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available in

RE: frustrated with Samsung TV built in voice guidance

2020-04-08 Thread Larry Lumpkin
I have to comment on this. After may years of trying to use digital tvs that
were absolutely inaccessible, I am glad to get a tv that has any kind of voice
guide that renders it accessible to me. I don’t much care what kind of voice it
has or how it talks.

Hope someone can help.

Is there an app for controlling a Samsung Smart TV for the iPhone? There are

Hope someone can help.

Everything known about the 2020 'iPhone SE'

By Mike Peterson Friday, April 03, 2020,

The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be
an updated iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been
discovered about the subject of rumors for the last three years. The
'iPhone SE' is expected to have a design basically the same as the
iPhone 8. While rumors about a low-cost iPhone refresh have been
circulating for years, it now appears that Apple will debut the device
in early 2020. Here's everything that's been discovered about the
upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE 2' at a glance According to
the latest rumors and leaks, here are some key points about the
"iPhone SE. The same footprint as the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 footprint

Larger 5.5-inch "iPhone SE Plus" model at some point 'iPhone SE 2'
design Despite the now possibly confirmed "iPhone SE" moniker, the
device is more likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8
instead of the popular 4-inch form factor. At this point, that
4.7-inch footprint is so likely that case makers are already going
all-in on the size.
But its price point and internal
upgrades, which we'll get to below, may make it a popular choice for
many consumers. 'iPhone SE 2' specifications A concept render of what
the 2020 "iPhone SE" will look like. Courtesy of OnLeaks and
iGeeksblog. Apple is definitely going to give the "iPhone SE" an
overhaul in terms of its internal specifications. But users should
expect incremental updates, not major ones. Back in January 2018,
well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the "iPhone SE 2"
would sport an A13 processor - the same as the CPU in the iPhone 11 -
and 3GB of RAM.
The latest
information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available in
64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and will launch in white,
black and PRODUCT(RED) variants. All of this is to say that the new
"iPhone SE" will an entry-level device that will lower the barrier of
entry for Apple's latest advancements in silicon, making it an
attractive choice for users who have been holding out on upgrading
from older iPhones for reasons of price or familiarity. iPhone SE
availability Rumors about the updated device's launch date have
shifted drastically over the years. In summer 2017, reports suggested
that a second-generation iPhone SE could debut in early 2018, for
example. Now, it appears that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will launch
sometime in April 2020. While a credible tipster indicated that Apple
would announce the device on Friday, April 3, another leaker said that
the launch is slated for April 15. More confusing are case maker
leaks, with at least one manufacturer potentially tipping an April 5
release date. At this point, we're comfortable saying that the "iPhone
SE" will launch in the very near future. But an exact day is still up
in the air. As far as price, that's less clear. But a report from
February 2020 suggests that it could start at $399, presumably for the
base 64GB tier. That's about on-par with previous iterations of the
iPhone SE, and cheaper than Apple's current lowest-cost iPhone, the
$449 iPhone 8. 'iPhone SE 2' name An iPhone 8-compatible screen
protector was updated to reflect 'iPhone SE' compatibility on Apple's
site. The upcoming 4.7-inch device has been given several monikers by
leakers, analysts and others in the Apple blogosphere. That includes
"iPhone SE 2" and "iPhone 9. At this point, it appears that the device
will simply be dubbed the "iPhone SE," according to an apparent leak
from an accessory on Apple's official online storefront. The
aforementioned tipster also suggested that Apple would

I use Wordpress and it's absolutely great. Also, if you need a web host,
Interserver has shared hosting for only $5 a month, and it is extremely good.
Normally I would say you get what you pay for, but in this case, you get a
really good deal on really good hosting. I've been using self hosted Wordpress

RE: Creating a web site

2020-04-08 Thread Mich Verrier
Hi all I to would like to create a websight and like ian and others I know
nothing about html or wrighting coade or anything. What I am looking for is
something where I can just input what I want into different edit fields and
then tabb over to dun and the websight will do the rest. the edit fields would
be cald things like websight name then what it is about and stuff like that.
In short I am seeking something that is simple works with jaws 18 and is
accessible but demands as little work as possible on my part. I remember years
ago reading something about simple web sight builder but forget what it was
cald or anything since I red about it years ago. From Mich.

Subject: Creating a web site

Hi everyone, hope you are staying safe.

In this time of great boredom I would like to create a web site for my family.
A simple one with no ecommerce etc.

Has anyone got experience with a provider who is voice over friendly? I am
reasonable tec savvy but not a coder or html person. Square space looks good
but I can’t find a way to contact them about such a specific question.

Thanks in advance
Ian

This may be too technical for you, but you don’t necessarily have to write
HTML. And, it’s free. Also, this is a rather old article, so things may be
slightly different.

I tried the currency identifier just to see and it seems to me a bit
unreliable. I think it might read food items pretty well though. Am I
missing something in currency identifying?

Subject: frustrated with Samsung TV built in voice guidance

Hello all,
Is there an app for controlling a Samsung Smart TV for the iPhone? There are
more things wrong about the built-in Samsung guidance. It’s to loud, to chatty,
and either to fast or way to slow. I want to use my iPhone as a remote.
Hope someone can help.
Best,
Terri Hedgpeth
