Re: Weak Security Being Reported

2020-11-19 Thread Mike B
Hi Simon and All,

I talked to Spectrum tech support and they're saying that our only problem
is the strength or lack there of of our network password. I questioned them
about our router incription strength and the dude wouldn't bother checking
since he was so sure that it's only a weak password problem. I was not in a
position to argue or debate since we're not there for me to change the
password

So, the next time we go down I'll change the password and see what happens.
Thank you all very much for all your input, it's been extremely helpful.

Hi Mike,

What I mean is

Is your router using WPA2 or something earlier WPA / WEP encryption for your
wifi security,

Also if using wpa2 is it tkip or ase because these things can report
lesser secure systems.

My recommendation would be that the system needs to be using WPA2 ASE or
better

Not that better is probably available to you at this point

Good lcuk.

Thanks for this and since the modem and router belong to Spectrum I'll call
them and tell them about this problem. Hopefully they'll either update the

You need to go into the settings and then to "phone". In there, find the
setting which says "incoming calls". Set that to full screen.

Apple Accessibility Update, was Re: I O S 14.2 and Night Sky

2020-11-19 Thread Arnold Schmidt
The short answer is they don't yet know what is going on. I was not able to
talk directly with the advisor who originally took my complaint, but the person
whom I did talk to looked into my account and that was the result he would have
given me. Let's hope they can figure it out.

I just talked to somebody at Apple Accessibility, and he does think that it
might be some kind of problem with image description. When I shared the screen
and showed him examples of what it is doing, he said that yes, it was trying to
describe an image that was there. Turning on image recognition gave a better
description of the image, but turning it off, as it were, didn't turn it
completely off. He is going to talk to somebody about it, being that he was
able to duplicate the problem on his device, and will allegedly get back to me
on Thursday, early evening. He said that the others who are experiencing this
should report it to them, being that the more complaints they have about a
given issue might make it seem more important.

told me such things as adult, moon, document, sunglasses, and baseball hat. I
have everything that remotely might be related to images, emojis, speak screen,

What is the night sky that always shows up when I have my iPhone locked?

Also, is there a way to take it out of the screen, so it doesn’t show along

RE: Recommendation for An Apple Compatible Bluetooth Keyboard?

2020-11-19 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah best things I could personally suggest is the
Apple magic keyboard wifi about 10 inchs long,
Full keyboard without num pad,
Just like a mac book keyboard with all the keys,
Charges using usb to lightening cable like your iPhone or iPad etc

Or the Logitech K380 which is pretty cheap and can do up to three different
devices
And not much larger than the apple magic bt keyboard as above.

iOS Access for all is the only book I can think of on the subject.
Also, Applevis is the premeer resource fir kearning iOS and/or iPadOS,
depending on what year you got your iPad. iOS access for all can be
purchased on iosaccessbook.com, or through the Books app on your iPad.
on older iPads look for the iBooks app. their is a direct link to
the book on the site I menchined above.

They’re pretty good I would say that I don’t sleep all night with them I
managed to take them off pretty much every night but they are the best
headphones that I found so far for sleeping with them.
However the one thing I hate is that when the volume is loud you get a very
loud annoying beep to let you know that it’s loud LOL

It has been my experience with the new features trying to help us with images
that we now have to work on finding the images that make no sense and try to
weed them out.
There should be some kind of process to look at all image descriptions in
theapps and make the text descriptions correct.
Unfortunately this technology is new and is going to have weird consequences.
Just be patient sorry about the chatter LOL!

Those are the only ones I’ve used extensively.

Bank of America is completely accessible.

We have also begun using Capital One and it too is fully accessible.

Those are the only ones I’ve used extensively.

Capital One has better interest rates.

read your account balance, and transfer funds with voiceover.

Hi Deb and all,

I too have noticed that wait times when calling Apple Accessibility have been
extremely long of late. And while it's been my experience that calling works
best I did also want to point out that in the interest of making them aware of
this people can also email them at:

accessibil...@apple.com

as well if holding for someone on the phone isn't a feasible option.

I too am experiencing this issue and while I have screen recognition turned on
as I needed it in an app image recognition is off. I experienced this on an
iPhone 11, an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a 12 Pro Max so at least by me it doesn't
seem to be specific to one generation of phone.

I do hope it gets fixed soon.

Take good care.

I haven't really noticed this until people started talking about it.
I've gotten the "sky" information in an icon in the Sirius/XM app. I have an
iPhone 11 with iOS 14.2. Usually I ignore the sky info since it is not what I'm
listening for and extra information. Plus, it does not seem that intrusive to
me, just a short blurb added onto whatever I'm doing. I can see how it would
get annoying though.

Be well,

This new app from MPaja works for low vision folk with or wiwithout VoiceOver

the keyboard letters are so big and bold that i can make out enough of each
letters to know where to tap and it uses swipe gestures just like FlickType

Do not Disturb and working iPhone's volume?

2020-11-19 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Let me try and explain what I'm trying to do by giving you'll background info:
Right now, I've Do not Disturb set up to go off at 10:30PM, and at 8AM to turn
itself off. I'm wanting to add an extra step: not only Do not Disturb to go off
and turn itself off, but I'm wanting for the iPhone's volume to lower itself to
maybe 40, or 30%, and at 8AM, when the Do not Disturb goes off, I'd like for
the iPhone volume return itself to its regular 86/88%. Is this possible? I'm
running latest iOS 14.2, on an SE2020. Thanks for any info you guys can give.

Siri Voice Commands, A Comprehensive List

A comprehensive list of Siri voice commands you can use on an iPhone

You can use Siri voice commands to control certain features of your iPhone
through the virtual assistant hands-free.
Siri has an ever-growing list of commands you can give, and some of them can
be enormously helpful in day-to-day life.
Visit Business Insider's Tech Reference library for more stories.
list end

When voice commands first came out on
phones,
it was a bit of a joke — they were finicky, hard to control, and would often
misunderstand the user and perform the wrong task.

But voice commands have significantly evolved, and become built-in
assistants that we now know by name.
Siri,
the
iPhone
assistant, now has an expanded list of varied commands that it can help you
with.

How to wake Siri
list of 2 items
• Press and hold the home button: if you have a newer model without a home
button, hold the side button down.
• "Hey Siri": the standard wake-up greeting should wake Siri to listen to
your commands regardless of where you are, as long as you have an
iPhone
model 6S or later. If you have the 6 or earlier, your
phone
has to be plugged in and charging for the command to work.
list end

Neither of these commands will work, however, if you don't have them enabled
in Settings. To do so, tap "Siri & Search," in the Settings app, and toggle
the relevant switch — "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" or "Press Home/Side Button for
Siri" — to the "on" position.

If you want to issue commands even when the
phone
is locked, make sure "Allow Siri When Locked" is switched on, too.

• On Apple Earpods: Press and hold the center button and speak into the
built-in microphone to issue your command or ask your question.
• On Apple Airpods: Double tap on either ear to activate Siri.

Voice commands for Siri to make calls or send messages

Once you've woken Siri and made sure your
phone
is listening for your command, there are any number of vocal directives
that it will recognize. These include ones for communication, like:

list of 5 items
• Call or FaceTime someone on your contacts list, or call an emergency
number: "Call Mom" or "Call the Fire Department." You can also add more
specific
commands on top of these basic ones, like "Call Mom on speaker."
• Reading text messages or emails: "Read new messages" or "check my email."
• Sending text messages: "Tell [contact name] that I'll be home at seven."
• Sending emails: "Send email to [contact name] about [subject] and say
[message]."
• Checking voicemail: "Do I have any voicemail?" or "Play new voicemail from
William."
list end

Asking Siri questions
list of 8 items
• Weather: "What's the weather today?" or the more specific "Do I need an
umbrella?"
• Math: "What's 25 times 36?" or any number of other math problems,
including tip calculations.
• Mathematical conversions: "How many cups are in a quart?" or "How many
feet in a meter?"
• Time zone conversions: "What time is it in Chicago?"
• Definitions, synonyms, antonyms, or etymologies of words: "What's the
definition of arduous?" or "What's the etymology of arduous?"
• The dates of holidays: "When is Easter this year?"
• Site searches: "What's trending on Twitter?" or "What's Brendon Urie
saying?" or "Search Twitter for…"
• Any question Siri can't answer: if Siri can't answer a question itself, it
will send it to Google, and present you with the top result from there. You
can also start a question with "Search Google for…" if you want.
list end

Voice commands for Siri to search your
phone

You can even use Siri to search your phone for things using keywords. So if
you can't find something in your phone, Siri might be of help. Searches Siri
can perform include:

list of 3 items
• Notes: "Find my note about…"
• Emails: "Find the email about…"
• Your photos: "Find photos of [person]" will work if you have photos
associated with a certain contact, or if you have gone through in your
Photos app
and labeled a person using the facial recognition software. "Find photos
from [place]" will also work if you had location services enabled when you
took
the photos, and "Find photos from [date or time period]" should always work.
list end

Voice commands for Siri to set schedules

You can also use Siri as a personal assistant, and have it help you set
schedules and reminders. You can:

list of 9 items
• Schedule a meeting in your calendar: "Schedule a meeting with [name]
tomorrow at [location] at [time]."
• Set reminders: "Remind me to pick up my dry

Hi Les,

The weird thing is we got to that house Monday morning and this weak
security thing didn't pop-up until Wednesday morning. But, in this report
there was no mention of changing any router settings that I could hear from
Voiceover or that my wife could physically read on the screen. Thanks for
letting us know we're not the odd ones out, so to speak.

Hi All,

My wife and I both run the new SE 2020 iPhones with iOS 14.2. This morning
both our WiFi networks, 2 & 5G, on both phones were getting a, weak
security, message although both could be connected to either network.

They both were showing 3 bars so, can someone tell us what a, weak security,
message means? We've never received such a message at either house and
we're not sure if this is a Wifi security issue, a password weakness problem
or what. All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Hi Simon,

I can't answer your question because we're not at that house now and won't
be going back there for almost a month. But, what I'm going to do is call
Spectrum tech support and they should be able to look at the settings since
it's their equipment. Hopefully if a change needs they can do it without us
being there Thank you very much for your input and I'll let the list know

Good lcuk.
