I was originally very interested in the Bose
Tempos but held back due to fear that they just
wouldn't last a whole day of normal every day
use like making and receiving several phone
calls, occasional streaming, and frequent Siri
usage. I don't mind recharging every night but
running out of battery during the day would be a
deal breaker for me. I wear sun glasses every day for several hours a day.

What has been your experience in terms of
battery life? I'd be interested in anyone else's
experience regarding the Bose Tempo Frames.

Warmest regards

RE: battery health

2021-01-11 Thread chalt...@outlook.com
If you research best practices for an LI battery, you’ll find the best thing to
do for long term health is shallow discharges, i.e. let it run down to 50% to
80% of it’s battery capacity and then top it off to get it back to 100%. I
think whatever you do is OK though, but you do want to avoid letting it run all
of the way down and then storing it for a long period of time. Letting an LI
battery discharge all the way will damage the LI battery. This isn’t an issue
when you use it all of the time since iPhones and other devices shutoff before
the battery itself is fully discharged. Since an LI battery will continue to
lose it’s charge even if it isn’t being used, you want to avoid storing it for
any length of time after running it down all the way.

Re: Two music questions, one Apple.

2021-01-11 Thread Wayne Merritt
One thing I forgot to mention. When viewing a limited set of tracks
you have downloaded or added to a play list, there is often an option
after all tracks to show all tracks on the album. Between this and the
work around I mentioned before, I am usually able to get to all tracks
for an album.

I often have tracks show up partly on an album I've downloaded in
Apple Music. My work around for this is to go through the steps of
locating the album in Apple music to view all tracks. This usually
works, but sometimes even when I drill down through the different
screens not all tracks show for an album. It is a slightly annoying
issue but I don't have another option at present. Open to ideas.

Be well,

RE: Two music questions, one Apple.

2021-01-11 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Malcolm ,

Sorry didn't get that from your first emal,

Thought your itunes comment was aimed at the music store rather than the
itunes app.

But that however is very odd
I would check your phone and make sure the album has completely downloaded to
your phone and see if that changes anything.

I see what you’re saying, sometimes it will say an item is not available in
your country or region, but the laptop and iPhone are in the same room so I
don’t think in this case it’s geographical. Incidentally they’re on the same

Yeah they are the first to be released

The tenor are a better fit but still I could suggest some changes for them,
But again if people are wanting to check them out,
I highly recommend trying the different models out before you buy.

I have the Bose frames alto and absolutely like their sound. I wouldn't
recommend them though, as the glasses don't fit very well and look very
cheapish. Battery life could be better as well. So I guess the frames tempo
will be a choice for me one day.

I’ve pasted the previous thread below, but as the conversation has moved over

The Bose site says the Tempos get 8 hours of active use.

I was originally very interested in the Bose Tempos but held back due to fear
that they just wouldn't last a whole day of normal every day use like making
and receiving several phone calls, occasional streaming, and frequent Siri
usage. I don't mind recharging every night but running out of battery during
the day would be a deal breaker for me. I wear sun glasses every day for
several hours a day.

What has been your experience in terms of battery life? I'd be interested in
anyone else's experience regarding the Bose Tempo Frames.

Yeah the apple music issue if I'm correct here is a geographical location issue
where in some cases some of the tracks are only available in some countries
Therefore if you buy the album
Some of the tracks wont show up in your listing due to you being in another

Hello,

Recently I have noticed something strange with Apple Music.

When I add an album to my library some tracks are missing from my iPhone but
are listed in iTunes. Sometimes it’s the other way. Has anyone else noticed
this?

The second question is not Apple Music related but applies to the native Music
App.

Let’s say you have an album comprising of more than one disc. The Beatles
commonly known as The White Album for example. How do you prevent all tracks
one, two and so-on being listed together so that disc two is listed after the
first disc.

RE: Blind Compass and Blind Bat - new apps for the blind

2021-01-11 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hey if you think walking fast herts when you walk in to something,

You need to try getting hit by a tour bus carrying 50 american tourists,

That I can tell you really flippen herts,

Part of my troubles is the paving around my city needs to be cleaned up as
it's cobble stones and generally crap and never maintained.

I think it is easier to walk straight when walking faster; the straight line is
easier to feel. Trouble is, if you crash into something, it hurts more.

RE: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-11 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Tempo have an 8 hour battery life,
Tenor have a 5 hour battery life.

As for size,
No real size difference but the shape is different,
The tempo wrap around the face / eyes and have a longer arm which wraps back
further around the head so they are more secure on your face while you wear
them if exercising / running / cycling etc.

And the tenors are more straight across the face with a slight bend in them to
cover the eye,

Really it comes down to
Tempo is a sportie model,
Tenor is a fashion accessorie

What is the difference in battery life and are the Tenors smaller or larger

Are the microphones good?

RE: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-11 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah don't have those issues but the only thing that hasn't worked for me is
Hey siri unless I hold the button on the phone or the phone to my face,

But I do get a couple of phone calls and playing media out of the frames in a
day with a lot to remain.

Warmest regards

RE: from Sonos sceptic to Sonos believer

2021-01-11 Thread Richard Turner
Certainly.

The guy at Video Only gave us a small discount. The Sonos One SL lists for
$180 and he gave them to us at $170.
The Arc soundbar lists at $800 and he gave it to us for $750.

I was looking up some info on the Arc soundbar and found that they actually
include the cables you need, both the HDMI cable if you are going that route
and the Optical Audio cable if you don't have a TV with the HDMI audio port.

Anything I have purchased in the past that required an HDMI cable, it was sold
separately.

Richard,

I'm pretty sure those of us with Sonos already
Arent' surprised,
And yeah the price is the biggest issue with sonos and of course other products
from other manufacturers.

But great choice although I myself would have put some sonos 1 speakers in your
lounge / living room area as rear speakers from your sound bar.

I find they do give a great surround feature to the sound bars etc.

This is a very long email, so be prepared, or just go ahead and hit delete.

I have to say, I was a huge sceptic concerning the Sonos system. I was under

Then, my wife and I had someone come in from a local audio store to give us an

As I mentioned, they received a shipment of 40 Sonos Arc Sound bars 2 weeks ago
and they sold out in two days.

The next shipment is due in a couple of weeks.

The Arc is the top rated sound bar by many reviewers, so a very hot product.

The way our living room is set up, I’m thinking the sound bar will do a great

It should be here in a couple more weeks.

Richard,

I’m pretty sure those of us with Sonos already

Arent’ surprised,

And yeah the price is the biggest issue with sonos and of course other products
from other manufacturers.

But great choice although I myself would have put some sonos 1 speakers in your
lounge / living room area as rear speakers from your sound bar.

I find they do give a great surround feature to the sound bars etc.

Hello all,

This is a very long email, so be prepared, or just go ahead and hit delete.

I have to say, I was a huge sceptic concerning the Sonos system. I was under
the impression that they were all too expensive.

Then, my wife and I had someone come in from a local audio store to give us an
estimate and suggestions on how best to get audio in our kitchen and two office
spaces.

We have a 1923 house that has lath and plaster construction which is difficult
to deal with if you start talking about cutting holes into the ceiling or
walls, so I was hoping for either a wired method that could go through the
floors or something wireless.

After he spent about 30 minutes with us and looking at various options, he came
down to recommending a Sonos amplifier and 3 remote Sonos One speakers for the
other rooms.

The amplifier would allow us to keep our current receiver and wired bookshelf
speakers and have TV sound everywhere, etc.

I might have gone with that except for two things. They wanted to charge about
$350 for installation and after consulting with Sieghard from this list, I
realized that I could do the installation easily with the app and that a Sonos
sound bar would make more sense for the living room than the amp.

So, we decided to check around for other stores and found that Video Only sells
Sonos equipment and we’ve had good luck with them in buying our TV and receiver.

Plus, they had the new Sonos Arc sound bar on demo along with the various
remote speakers.

Once we heard the Arc, we were hooked.

We also decided we don’t need the voice control on the room speakers so went
with the Sonos One SL speakers, which are the same as the Sonos One’s without
the microphone and Alexa, etc., and are $20 less per speaker.

We bought 3 Sonos One SL speakers and had them set up pretty easily with the
Sonos app.

I knew I had 30 days to return them if we didn’t like them.

Well, if I tell you that after a week, we went back and bought two more so we’d
have stereo pairs in the kitchen and my office space; you will know that we

RE: IOS 14.3

2021-01-11 Thread davycuppens
There are several known bugs of which Apple is aware.

There are notification bugs but it is very user dependent. The last days there
are many complaints not only from blind or visually impaired users; these
problems are not accessibility related. For some users notifications nolonger
pop up or when they do so there is no sound or some come in some do not.

Sometimes problems are solved by rebooting or resetting the phone but sometimes
this won’t give any help. But most users are not affected.

AW: Bose earphones,, was about Aftershokz

2021-01-11 Thread Alexandra
I have the Bose frames alto and absolutely like their sound. I wouldn't
recommend them though, as the glasses don't fit very well and look very
cheapish. Battery life could be better as well. So I guess the frames tempo
will be a choice for me one day.

I’ve pasted the previous thread below, but as the conversation has moved over
to talking about Bose, started a new thread.

RE: Two music questions, one Apple.

2021-01-11 Thread Richard Turner
I don't have Apple Music subscription, so I'm not sure why some tracks show on
your phone and not on the computer or the other way 'round.

As for things like the White album, there you get to blame whomever entered it
into the database that itunes uses.

You would have to edit the way it is tagged, which can be a very tedious
process.
Sometimes, on the phone, I just create a playlist so I can put things in the
order I wish.
That too, however, can be rather tedious.

I stopped, for example, importing audio books from CD because one disc might be
tagged differently than another, quite crazy making.

Subject: Two music questions, one Apple.

Hello,

Recently I have noticed something strange with Apple Music.

When I add an album to my library some tracks are missing from my iPhone but
are listed in iTunes. Sometimes it's the other way. Has anyone else noticed
this?

The second question is not Apple Music related but applies to the native Music
App.

Let's say you have an album comprising of more than one disc. The Beatles
commonly known as The White Album for example. How do you prevent all tracks
one, two and so-on being listed together so that disc two is listed after the
first disc.

Two music questions, one Apple.

2021-01-11 Thread Malcolm Parfitt

How do you prevent all tracks
one, two and so-on being listed together so that disc two is listed after the
first disc.

IOS 14.3

2021-01-11 Thread Paul JOrdan
I just saw that IOS 14.3 is out. Has it been out for a while? Are there any
issues with it? I've been a little behind in life, so maybe it's been out a
while. If so, sorry for the question. The update just showed up on my phone
today.

God bless!

Hi all. I have an Iphone 8 which I am not currently using. I'm wondering if
it is better for the health of the battery to leave it plugged in all the
time, or let the battery drain and re-charge. Since I am currently using an
Iphone 7 it may be that I may need to use that 8 at some point. Thanks.

Hi all,
Happy 2021, and I hope the year is starting off well for you! :) My co-writer
Ipek and I have been busy writing more for the Supersense blog, and have lots
of updates that should hopefully be helpful and interesting to you!

First, our Super Lidar app has finally been approved by Apple, and you will see
it being released this week! You can learn more about Lidar and the future of
navigation in this post.

Hi Tony,
I think you are marvelously creative and very intuitive to think of these apps.
I love the idea of using your compass app to walk a straight line across a very
wide open area. This is brilliant. Thank you so much for your work!

Blind Compass and Blind Bat - new apps for the blind Hello, My name is Tony
and I wrote two iPhone apps for blind people and recently I published them in
AppStore.
Blind Compass is a compass app specifically designed for blind people. I was
surprised that such an app didn't seem to exist before - or am I missing
something? First, it reports your heading continuously by varying pitch, so
that even with not much musical training you can easily memorize how the right
direction sounds like, and you'll be able to walk in straight line just by
listening to your direction. ALso when your heading crosses North,East, South,
or West you will hear that spoken to you.
I recommend to use Blind Compass with bone conductance bluetooth headphones.
Bone conductance headphones don't block ears, so that you can hear sounds from
the environment, as well as audio feedback from BlindCompasss.
You can also have your heading spoken by either pressing button in the app, or
if you are using bluetooth headphones, you can press play button once.
Second, Blind Compass allows you to lock your direction. Either press lock
button in the app, or press fast forward button on your headphones, or double
press play button on your headphones, and your direction will be locked. You
will hear auditory feedback guiding you back to the original heading. If you
allow Blind Compass to use location data, then it will also count distance
travelled from the point where you locked your location. This way you can cross
vast open space without fear of veering.

Another app I wrote is Blind Bat - and it is designed to help people to learn
echolocation. Maybe I'm not that good at it myself, but I wanted to play around
with it, so I designed an app that would make ideal click, whatever that might
entail. You have a few parameters you can adjust and the app would generate
click sound that conforms to these parameters. You can specify mean frequency,
bandwidth and duration of click.

shuts down. I'm looking to enable the Calm Radio skill, but so far, no
deal.

I deleted the app, but left the document stuff because I wasn't keen on
reinstalling everything. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Easy,

Flick one finger down over the app you wish to delete and then tap on edit mode
to open it, Then flick down to delete and double tap on it,

Then follow the prompts.

Hello, in order to delete the app, double tap and hold.
You will hear three tones that are played, lift your finger, it was a double to
have to delete, go ahead and follow the prompts, and say yes to the
confirmation.
That should take care of it

I've just walked home from own listening to Tool,

amazon is probably one of the better ones if you are in the States.

I've heard different comments on listening to music, Seemingly the
older after shocks weren't great for music but the aeropex are I've

Ther are several models and Amazon is the best resource.

They are not very good for music if you want a quality sound.
They are primarily designed for people doing things outdoors so they can
hear their surroundings.
They are marketed to runners, joggers, and other outdoor activities where
being aware of your surroundings is important.
After they were out for a while, they were made aware that they can also
help visually impaired people stay safe when walking outdoors.

The last I heard the Aeropex were their most recent model with 8 hours of
battery life, but someone just mentioned one with 16 hours of talk time.
Just be sure if you buy some to try out, you have time to return them for
a refund if they don't work for you.

RE: Alternatives to Aftershokz bone conduction

2021-01-11 Thread rick.alfaro
I was originally very interested in the Bose Tempos but held back due to fear
that they just wouldn't last a whole day of normal every day use like making
and receiving several phone calls, occasional streaming, and frequent Siri
usage. I don't mind recharging every night but running out of battery during
the day would be a deal breaker for me. I wear sun glasses every day for
several hours a day.

What has been your experience in terms of battery life? I'd be interested in
anyone else's experience regarding the Bose Tempo Frames.

Warmest regards

As mentioned by Alan, the update is out. I updated, and when you select

It scans to whatever folder you have open, and defaults to PDF, which is

RE: Voice Dream Reader update is out, version 4.12 includes scanning

2021-01-11 Thread Richard Turner
Very interesting. I do not find that scan button.
Do you also have the separate scanner app?
I have both and the only way I can scan within Voice Dream Reader is to do the
add button, then scanner.

On mine, I don't need to go into Add; right before the Add button, there's a
Scan button. You double-tap, and you're in the the same interface as you'd be
if you open the Scanner app. Wasn't the Scan item there before? I seem to have
vaguely seen it! Or is it only there for those who have the separate VDR
Scanner app?

2021-01-11 Thread lenron brown
As much as I don't scan things. I am not going to be upset about
waiting a few extra seconds. So I will take this added feature in
voice dream. It's the only app by the devs over there I have.
