why I was planning to get them.

Maria,

Look at the bose frames and see what you think,

As for the after shockz,
Look at the aero pex and that’s not the correct spelling,

Eyah the pros are nice, but I don’t personally think they are worth the larger
price,

But hey there really isn’t anything to compare them against in the same genre
except may be the power beats pro, which don’t have wifi charging ability.

Good luck.

There has been a rumour re new pods for a year or so now,

The idea was to release a airpods without the noise cancelation features and
transparency but in the pro format.

So just a standard airpods but in new pro shape

As for if / when, only apple wil be able to tell you that and that wont be
likely.

As for the pro, nice but is there a reason why you would go the pro pods and
not just the standard ones?

I have both and I really don’t get the use out of the pros as much as I
probably should and the sound quality to me is pretty much as good with the

However each to their own, I tend now to use my bose frames a lot more while

Totally different as they’re over the year I wanted to just the max, AirPod
that is. This may be irrelevant because they’re over the years but the whole

I didn't go all the way through with the checkout process because I don't want
to buy the book, but after clicking on the link it took me about 30 seconds to
select the format I wanted from the drop down list, add it to the cart, read
about the options to include a donation and click the "Begin Checkout" button.
Here it seemed pretty straight forward as well, you could either sign in with
your email and password if you had an account or enter you email, a password
and confirm to create a new one. Very standard and, as one would expect,
accessible.

RE: Asking a question on Vorail

2021-01-21 Thread Maria Reyes
Ok interesting. I don't see the create ask all option when in my question feed.
Do I have to be paying for the subscription actively in order to post a
question? I'm on the free trial.

Oh Maria, I'm also on that app. So I don't do that very much, but I have posted
questions. So you have to be in the questions feed in order to post a question.
You're going to swipe up with one finger to get to the create ask all button.
Then he will double tap just as you would with voiceover on.

Hello Joseph,

Home Advisor provides vendors for doing various jobs around the home; not
taking someone shopping, at least, that is my impression.

RE: New AirPods Pro

2021-01-21 Thread Maria Reyes
Well if that’s the case, I may end up getting the original Pros.
I already have the standard AirPods and looking to upgrade because the noise
cancelation and transparency features sound really cool.
As for headphones for GPS apps I will probably get the Aftershokz Treks
Titanium .

Hi Maria,

There has been a rumour re new pods for a year or so now,

The idea was to release a airpods without the noise cancelation features and
transparency but in the pro format.

So just a standard airpods but in new pro shape

As for if / when, only apple wil be able to tell you that and that wont be
likely.

As for the pro, nice but is there a reason why you would go the pro pods and
not just the standard ones?

I have both and I really don’t get the use out of the pros as much as I
probably should and the sound quality to me is pretty much as good with the
standards
However each to their own, I tend now to use my bose frames a lot more while
walking / traveling around.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Used the Care.com App for iOS / iPad OS?

2021-01-21 Thread Joseph Hudson
Hi Mark, I haven't use the service but I've heard about it on a commercial. I
wonder if you sign up using the iPhone and creating account, if it will allow
you to log into that account on the website using the same subscription kind of
like ESPN. That way you can not have to worry about giving him any billing
information. I will be doing this with ESPN here in a couple of weeks I think.

RE: FW: Major MacBook Pro Rumors: More Ports, No Touch Bar, Return of MagSafe, and More

2021-01-21 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah but will they be Apple silicon devices or still intel devices,

And it's also making it sound like they are going to make them a more square
like shape,
Somewhat like the older style, like the old 2013 mac book style.

RE: iPad Mini 5th Gen Or iPad Air 2020 256GB?

2021-01-21 Thread Simon A Fogarty
A folio keyboard is a case that folds around your iPad and has a keyboard in
the front half
Your iPad stands up on a slight angle and lets you type like on a notebook
computer

If you’re not worried about screen size then go for the iPad mini,

It’s only a year older and should I would think be cheaper than the air.

Hi Fazil

It really depends on what your doing and whether you need the larger screen
size?

Otherwise you don’t I believe have the home button on the air,
But you do have a finger id sensor on the power button which is of course on
the top,
You can get a smart folio keyboard with / for the air but no keyboard from
apple for the mini 5.

The processor of course is newer in the air
And the screen I believe is better,

But your bigg thing is the size, so would you want the larger 10.? Screen size
or the 7.9 inch screen size,

And that other question is what’s your budget?

I will also say I’ve got a 2018 11inch iPad Pro with smart folio keyboard
Cellular & wifi
256gb
Which is in excellent condition

And a iPad Mini 5
Cellular and wifi
256GB
Again in excellent condition,
Both space grey,

That I’m looking to sell,

May be we could discuss things if you were interested.

Subject: iPad Mini 5th Gen Or iPad Air 2020 256GB?

Hi, Group.
Please help me decide.
I am in the market to purchase an iPad 256GB. Now I am debating between iPad
Mini or iPad Air 2020.
It is $240 difference between these two. I like the size of iPad Mini.
Being a totally blind user, would I be missing something in iPad Mini which is
available in iPad Air?
I am not worried about A14 Bionic chip in iPad Air.
Anything important that I should go for iPad Air, not for iPad Mini?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

New MacBook Pro Models Rumored to Feature More Ports, Flat-Edged Design,
MagSafe, and No Touch
Bar
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo this week outlined his expectations for all-new
14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro
models
later this year, including the return of the classic MagSafe charging
connector, the removal of the Touch Bar, a new flat-edged design, and the
return of more ports built into the notebooks for expanded connectivity.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman weighed in on the matter, claiming that the return of
MagSafe on the next MacBook Pro models will allow for faster
charging
and that the connector will be similar to the elongated pill-shape design of
the MagSafe port on older Macs. Gurman said the new MacBook Pro models will
also feature next-generation Apple silicon chips and brighter, higher-contrast
displays. His report confirmed that Apple has at least tested some new models
of the MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar.

It's unclear which ports could return to the MacBook Pro. From 2012 to 2015,
the 15-inch MacBook Pro offered a wider selection of
I/O,
including a MagSafe connector, two Thunderbolt ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI
port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Kuo expects the new MacBook Pro models to launch in the third quarter, which
spans July through September.

RE: iPad Mini 5th Gen Or iPad Air 2020 256GB?

2021-01-21 Thread Simon A Fogarty

Thanks!

Has Anyone Ever Used the Care.com App for iOS / iPad OS?

2021-01-21 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Has anyone ever used the care.com app for either iOS or iPad OS?

The reason I ask is because, there are in-app purchases, quite reasonable
ones, actually, but before I spend the money, I would like to make certain
that the app is VoiceOver accessible.

Now in the App Store, there are two listings for the app but I believe the
resulting download is the same. One app lists itself as being for those
seeking baby-sitters; this is misleading because one can search for people
who provide care for anything; for example to those who are blind or low
vision, seniors, etc. the other is listed as being for those who wish to
register to the service as being a care giver. Again, the same options
appear in either of the downloads which is why I am almost positive that the
two app listings are one-in-the-same.

While the service can be accessed from www.care.com, I would prefer to
register and purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store so as to be
certain that I can easily terminate any subscription without any hassle.
Also, I don't relish the idea of providing my billing info to yet another
service unless it is absolutely necessary.

As always, all replies greatly appreciated.

Mark

2021-01-21 Thread Ann

Hi,

I have asked, and I was told I'd have to pay the full book price for
each electronic format I wanted to download. This was years ago,
however. I wonder if there policy has changed since then, but their
shopping cart doesn't reflect this, if its true. Maybe I'll ask again,
though.

Looking at the site you can order the book in Word format as well as DAISY and

~Ann,
Have you asked them about downloading other formats?

Richard

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon
airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep
space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was
young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen."

Is this available in the UK? When I got my first iPhone I found Anna’s book so
useful and it has held me in good stead over the years but it does look like I
should become more familiar with some of the newer features.

iPad Mini 5th Gen Or iPad Air 2020 256GB?

2021-01-21 Thread Fazil
Hi, Group.

Please help me decide.

I am in the market to purchase an iPad 256GB. Now I am debating between iPad
Mini or iPad Air 2020.

It is $240 difference between these two. I like the size of iPad Mini.

Being a totally blind user, would I be missing something in iPad Mini which
is available in iPad Air?

I am not worried about A14 Bionic chip in iPad Air.

Anything important that I should go for iPad Air, not for iPad Mini?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Identifying barcodes

2021-01-21 Thread Arlene
That gives me more understanding, Donna, thank you, that was something I
didn't know. It's just after all this time, and it seems so tremendous being
able to read cooking directions with the bar codes which is really great, I
started thinking how something was so missing, and that was the experation
dates. Thanks again.

Also expiration dates are stamped on products not printed. There is times in
which the ink smears, the writing has faded. Until it is mandated that
expiration dates be placed on an item, on the same spot for all products & a
better expiration date is adopted, there is no way for a blind person to be
able to read the expiration dates on products.

Donna

Sadly, I do not think you will ever see expiration dates in barcones.
Barcodes identify the general product, not that individual package. But
you would probably have to contact the manufacturer to find out if
something could be done. According to my wife, there is little consistancy
of placement of expiration dates and it is hard for even sighted people to
find them.

Hi all,
I also wanted to elaborate on Supersense a bit. We're working on
adding cooking directions, since that is a crucial set of information
that can be obtained with a little cross-research after identifying a
barcode.
I've also noticed that from my personal experience, Supersense tends
to recognize more products in my pantry than the other apps I've
tried.

Will Seeing AI give you directions for cooking in addition to just
identifying the product? This is a feature I heavily use on my

scanner (galaxy).

 It is also free.

Sense is also pretty good, but it is a paid app.

Re: Identifying barcodes

2021-01-21 Thread Arlene
Richard, I've heard from my sister and sighted friends that the print is
really tiny for the experation dates. While I wouldn't mind writing to the
different companies that do ocr, whether it be apps or computer ocr, maybe
I'm asking a question that doesn't make sense in a way, actually I don't
know how to put my questioning, sorry about that, but is there some
technical reason that you know of that the experation dates don't come up
in the scanning? I mean experation dates are just as important as cooking
directions on a box, well in the samecatagory of importantance. Sorry if I'm
not making sense. I do want to think you for giving it a try as far as
seeing if you could get the experation date, I think that may have been
about 2 or 3 weeks or so when it last came up.
