Really loving the feel and interface of Fantastical!; I’m on the free tier. I
wonder, if from the Free tier, how does one add an event cataloggdd as an
anniversary, or birthday?

I used to use Fantastical and loved it until they went to the bloody
subscription model and changed the interface.
I'm not sure you can do what you want.
After putting in the calendar event in Fantastical, open the native calendar
and edit that event and set it as a yearly event as a birthday.
I had deleted Fantastical months ago, and just downloaded it again to see what
it is like now.
I will be deleting it again.

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon
airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep
space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was
young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen."

help with Mac

2021-01-30 Thread Tom Rash
Have a chance to play with a mac air. Does anyone remember the tutorials
that John Panarees had on learning the Mac? I probably spelled his name
wrong. Any suggestion on where I can get started on learning the Mac?
Thanks.

I decided to take ahcnace on it via the free tier, thus I imagine if I set the
event every year, it’d automaticaly mark it as a birthday?
I’m curious if you who bought it, don’t you get a continuing lifetime
subscription? I’d ask just to be sure, because I would have liked for the
integration of the Calendar and Reminders in one app!

Richard,

I could find no lifetime subscription for Fantastical at this website:

https://flexibits.com/fantastical/pricing

If one is so inclined to sign up for Fantastical premium, they can elect to be
billed annually which works out to $3.33 per month or be billed $4.99 monthly.
I agree with you that what is provided for the premium subscription isn't worth
the cost. The above link provides a side by side feature comparison between the
free and premium Fantastical.

I decided to take ahcnace on it via the free tier, thus I imagine if I set the
event every year, itd automaticaly mark it as a birthday?
Im curious if you who bought it, dont you get a continuing lifetime
subscription? Id ask just to be sure, because I would have liked for the

Yes, and I'm not even sure you can do reoccurring appointments with the free
Fantastical.
It is such a shame that they had to go to the over-priced subscription model.
But, since this is a business, I understand their need for an income stream
that is somewhat predictable.
I just don't see how any calendar function is worth paying for since Apple's
native Calendar has gotten so much better.

Richard,

I could find no lifetime subscription for Fantastical at this website:

https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fflexibits.com%2Ffantastical%2Fpricing&data=04%7C01%7C%7C33f88abd564f4a2aa55808d8c545f2a0%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C637476251498039810%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=htjOpLsO0OcirW6uPhactemDCui26c%2F1tjf%2FRqoVnNA%3D&reserved=0

Well, I don't know if there is a life time subscription. I think there is a
monthly and yearly but no life time and to me, it is unreasonable to pay $40 or
$60 per year for features that mostly are already in the native Calendar app,
and now, are more easily done in the native Calendar app.

I'm just so torn! I love how FantastiCal works so easy just writing down in the
command line to set an appointment up! and how when you tell Siri to Remind you
of such and such, FantastiCal grabs it, and notifies you of it. Thus I guess
then I could continue using FantastiCal like this?
I agree with you'll that the costs of the subscriptions are a bit expensive!
Here in Mexico mxn$99 for a month? for which if you've already have the native
iOS apps, definitely I don't see worthwhile.
What I'm miss if I were to uninstall and forget about the FantastiCal app,
would be the integration in one app, of Calendar and reminders, at least to
explore, and to alert you to these.

An every year is a reoccurring event, so I am glad that works.
Yes, the ability to write out the details on one line and have it correctly
place the information is what drew me to it way back in its earlier versions.
And, having reminders and events together is nice.
But, if you use Siri to schedule a reminder, you can also ask Siri, do I have
any reminders today?
Or, also do I have any appointments today. Or ask about tomorrow or a specific
date...
The good news is, that if you use Siri to set a reminder, it will show up in
Fantastical and the same with Siri setting events, it puts it in the native
calendar, and Fantastical displays it for you.
So, the best of both worlds.
When I was teaching and had complicated schedules, Fantastical was great.
But now, the native calendar has custom scheduling that works quite well, but
now I'm retired and don't need that.
I'd keep enjoying Fantastical where it helps you and use the native app as
needed.

I read it several times, and I try to do what you say, but I don’t find it.
When I do command shift H, it says that I’m in a collection. There I find
desktop, dropbox and public folder.

Sorry, more about the direct touch problem

2021-01-30 Thread Paul JOrdan
Hi all. I know this was discussed shortly after 14.4 was released. I just
upgraded my IPHONE 7 and I'm still seeing the "direct touch" issue and can't
find out how to get rid of it. I thought I saved that email, but apparently
I didn't or the comsuter ate it! I haven't tried using MBRL since I updated,
but have played the blindfold games and still have to turn off voice over to
get away from direct touch. I'd appreciate any help you could give this old
brain. Thanks in advance.

God bless!

Re: Sorry, more about the direct touch problem

2021-01-30 Thread regina alvarado
Go to settings, accessibility, voice over, double tap, go to rotor actions,
double tap, go to direct touch, double tap and in there you will find each app.
You can select what apps you want to. It will still say direct touch when going
into the apps you choose, but you don't have to find direct touch and flick up
to turn it on any longer. Hope this helps.

It says you are in a Collection, because you are using Icon view. That
shouldn’t matter.

My guess is:
1. You do not have the Sidebar enabled, or
2. You are not running macOS Catalina or Big Sur, or
3. You do not have your iPhone properly connected to your Mac.

Again, I encourage you to go back and read my first email on this topic, and
very carefully read every word. I am confident you are not following the

Brad,

The Sidebar was not enabled, and for some reason the computer and the phone
didn’t seem to recognize each other. I realized about that when I called Apple.
I had to unplug and plug the phone twice.

I always updated the phone using Windows, but I wanted to learn how to use the

Thanks a lot for trying to help me. I still have to learn a lot about the

Telegram Building New Tool for Importing Chats from other Apps, 9 to 5 Mac

2021-01-30 Thread M. Taylor
Amid WhatsApp privacy backlash, Telegram building new tool for importing
chats from other apps
By Filipe Espósito, 9 to 5 Mac.

Following the controversies of the new WhatsApp privacy policies, several
users around the world have been looking for an alternative to the app owned
by Facebook. Telegram, which is already one of the most popular messaging
platforms, is now working on a new tool that lets users import chats from
WhatsApp and other apps.

The new feature was released today on the iOS App Store as part of version
7.4 of the app, but another update was released moments after that removing
the mentions to the migration tool — which suggests that Telegram is still
working on this feature before a public announcement.

Update: Telegram’s new migration tool has been officially made available to
all users today. The announcement was made by Telegram in a blog post.

Over 100 million new users joined Telegram this January, seeking more
privacy and freedom. But what about the messages and memories that remain in
older apps? Starting today, everyone can bring their chat history –
including videos and documents – to Telegram from apps like WhatsApp, Line
and KakaoTalk. This works both for private chats and groups.

You can read the original article below.

However, 9to5Mac was able to try out the new migration tool in the official
Telegram iOS app to see how it works. According to the original release
notes of update 7.4, users will be able to import chats from WhatsApp, Line,
KakaoTalk, and other unspecified apps.

Using WhatsApp as an example, it doesn’t take much effort to migrate
conversations from one app to another. Once you’re in WhatsApp, you just
have to enter the “More” menu in a chat and then choose the “Export Chat”
option. WhatsApp will generate a ZIP file with the entire conversation that
can be exported to Telegram through the iOS Share Sheet.

Telegram will ask which contact or group you want to associate that chat to,
and then the messages will be synchronized there for both you and the other
person. All imported messages are labeled as such.

Although some users are still being able to import chats from other apps in
the latest version of the Telegram app available on the App Store, Telegram
didn’t confirm that the feature is actually working for all users. Even so,
it seems a matter of time before the new option is officially announced.

As many users are afraid to migrate to other messaging apps and lose their
conversations, this tool might help Telegram become even more popular. You
can download Telegram for free on the App Store.

haven't read the article yet, as having trouble with the link being over 3
lines, but if this is the case, would also be interested in any alternatives. I
thought the wide choice they offered, was supposed to be a good part of the
point of such apps.
if not, bring back good old short-wave!

RE: new TV Guide mobile App

2021-01-30 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Andy,

I updated the app but did not open it as I now use YouTube TV which has its own
VoiceOver accessible channel guide.

However, after seeing your post, I opened the TV Guide app on both my iPhone
and iPad.

Sadly, VoiceOver accessibility has been severely reduced.

>From within the settings area of the app you can provide feedback to the
>developer; however, I suspect that you are unable to locate the settings area
>as a result of the reduced accessibility.

So, I have extracted the contact info so that you and anyone can email the
developer, as I have done.

You may send your app feedback to:
tv-guide-app-supp...@redventures.com

The subject line must read as follows:
"TVGuide Feedback", without the quotation marks.

In the body of your email, be certain to include the device type and OS version
upon which you have the app installed.

Let's hope they listen to us, as they have always done, in the past.

In the meantime, the NFB NewsLine app, for iOS / iPad OS has a great TV channel
listings area.

Luck to us all, on this one.

Mark

Subject: new TV Guide mobile App

Earlier this week the TV Guide Mobile app was replaced with a completely new
app with a totally different interface.
Rather than the easy to read list of channels and programs, the screen now has
two slide bars and a totally different layout. is anyone using the new app,
and are you having success with it, and if so can you explain how to navigate
it?

Re: in the UK need an alternative to tune in.

2021-01-30 Thread Richard Turner
Well, since TuneIn Pro stopped allowing recording, I do not know of any app
that allows for recording of radio streams.
But, your Music app on the iDevices has a radio tab. First, select the search
tab, and after activating the search field, flick right and you should find
options like Your Library, and then Radio. Select Radio and then go back and
fill in your search term.
Another app that may be worth trying is My Tuner Radio.
It has in-app purchases, but seems to have a ton of stations around the world.
Now, I'm in the US, so I do not know if the judgement in the UK is just about
TuneIn or if you are going to run into issues with these other apps.
Good luck,

Richard

airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep

young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen."
