need help with do not disturb

Hi all.  I thought I had do not disturb figured out, but my son, who is on
my favorites couldn't reach me last night.  I want to set up a repeating do
not disturb from 10 PM to 8 AM every day, but allow calls from favorites.  I
Can't tell if I've done it right or not.  Do not disturb is announced every
evening, so that part's right, but I don't think favorites can get through.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hello,
Honestly I haven’t been really paying attention to my app updates if WhatsApp 
updated recently but I don’t do WhatsApp calls often. I’ve been having a 
problem with the Facebook messenger app though. It’s been over 3 months or so 
when every time I listen to voice messages in a chat window, when I put the 
phone to my ear, it doesn’t switch to earpiece anymore. The voice messages 
still remain playing on speaker.

Using Whatsapp

Has anyone had an issue when you try to listen to a call, by bringing the
phone to your ear, the message stops playing?

 

I've deleted and reinstalled Whatsapp, and am still having the same issue.

Hi Keith,

Have you tried sending a subscribe email from the address you wish to use to: 
viphone+subscr...@googlegroups.com

Then, sending an email directly to Mark Taylor mk...@ucla.edu with something 
like, IMPORTANT: need to subscribe from this address" in the subject line.

He has to approve new subscriptions and if he isn't paying attention then it 
won't get done.
Then if that works, send an unsubscribe request from this currently subscribe 
address to: viphone+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com

I know of no other way to accomplish this.

iCloud settings issue

I would appreciate knowing how to change my phone number in iCloud. 
Fortunately, I still have the phone number used when I originally set up 
the iCloud account; however, I have looked through settings but cannot 
seem to locate the phone number to change it.

For what it's worth, even though the Stepler app is not available in
the US or Canadian App Stores, one can search for the phrase "get paid
for walking" in the App Store and get several results. One that I
pulled up which looks to be similar is called Cash for Steps.

I lead a very quiet life so have no need of multiple calendars, but what 
happens if you temporarily set the Doctor calendar as the default.
Then, remember to switch it back when you are finished looking things up on it?

Hi,all. I got the Merlin Bird app at yur recommendation, Pam. I got the 
Southeast U. S. Pack as you probably did, and then added the U. S. And Canada 
pack as I might travel. 
This should be interesting to see how this goes.

Beach. Whereabouts on the gulf are you?

I haven't used Zoom on my phone, but I doubt this is related to Watch OS. 
Whenever I'm playing something on my phone I see the Now Playing icon on my 
watch face where the unread notifications icon would be. This allows you to 
control what's playing on your phone, such as raising or lowering the volume, 
playing or pausing and so on. It's not about having audio come through your 
watch instead of your phone.

now playing so it just never happens. Has anyone else had this disappearing 
VoiceOver speech problem lately? It’s very consistent and it’s always with zoom.

Hi, 

This used to happen to me under IOS 14.8 and infrequently, happens under IOS 
15.02. What fixes it for me is to turn Voiceover off and then back on. I am 
using an iPhone 8.

Hi Richard,

That's odd. I just removed a couple of apps from one Home screen, and they were 
still on another. Be sure to choose Remove from Home Screen rather than Delete. 
And yes, I'm quite sure that when you have an app icon on more than one screen, 
each one is pointing to the same app; you don't have multiple copies of the app 
on your device. If you choose to delete an app, however, it is removed from 
your device, including all icons that point to it. If you want to get it back, 
you have to redownload it from the App Store.

Hi Denise,

The App Library always comes after all of your pages of apps. Maybe your second 
page of apps got hidden somehow. To find out, touch any icon on a Home screen, 
flick up or down to Edit Mode, and double-tap.

Now find the page indicator, the item just above the dock that says which page 
you're on, and double-tap it. All of your pages are now listed. After VoiceOVer 
speaks a page number, it says either "Visible" or "Hidden." Double-tap to 
switch between the two. You can reorder pages on this screen and if you hide a 
page, you can delete it by flicking up or down to Delete and double-tapping.

I hope your home screen is hidden, and that this will help you unhide it.

An IOS15 question

I just upgraded to IOS15 yesterday and I have a question. I can see my first
page of single aps, but when I go to my second page which is my list of
folders it puts me into the aps library instead. Is there a way to close tis
out and just get into my page of folders?

Amazon fixed I hope

I just went into Amazon. With the caveat that it could be a fluke I asked for 3 
items to be displayed for price and description. It worked each time. I think 
it is fixed!

I live in deep East Texas where we have millions of birds.  But, our apartment 
maintenance had to cut down 5 large trees near my apartment.  Now, most of the 
birds are gone. *groan.

I had that problem, but after fiddling and fumbling around, I fixed it somehow, 
without knowing what I did to fix it.  Now the music comes out right.

I found it.
That is a Container Description.
You can turn that off, or set it to play a sound, or just have it in braille, 
under VoiceOver Verbosity settings.
