RE: When in the watch app?

2021-11-29 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Kay,

You can make changes to your watch face on the watch app of the phone,

I don’t see why you would have to be sitting there with the watch on.

The watch app on the phone will let you do a lot without it being powered on.

Subject: When in the watch app?

Hi all,
When I am in the watch app, setting things up, do I need to have the watch
turned on or will it be ok to look around and make changes without it being on?

I didn't realize you were asking how to do that on an iPhone.
I do not think the iPhone has that ability.
I'd call Apple Accessibility.

Sound help

2021-11-29 Thread Laury, Shawnese (LEO)
Hello I have 2 iPhones. One is a SE for personal use and the other is an 8 for
work.

I am receiving no auditory sounds when emails are deleted on the personal phone
but VoiceOver says item deleted. On the work phone Voice over says item delete
it but I also get an additional sound. I have made sure that all sound settings
are set to on.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

I'll try that choice next, when they go to Junk, but if Blind Ads comes here,
either I have to set a new rule or move it, or that is what I do for clarity.

Right click on a message in the Junk folder.
Hit j for the junk menu.

Here is the options you should find.
Block Sender
Never Block Sender
Never Block Sender's Domain (@example.com) Never Block this Group or Mailing
List Not Junk Unavailable Junk E-mail Options...

If you pick Never Block this Group or Mailing List that should work.

hi,
For the last month, since changing from an exchange mail account to my current
outlook.com account, 50% of messages from this list are consistently going to
the junk folder. Every time I go to the junk folder select all and move to the
inbox. This has not had an affect to resolve this issue. Does anyone have any
advice on how I may be able to improve the situation?
Thanks in advance for any help. Keith

I'll try that choice next, when they go to Junk, but if Blind Ads comes here,
either I have to set a new rule or move it, or that is what I do for clarity.

I doubt it, Keith. I have message rules, and sometimes, they are way askew with
viPhone going to Phones for the Blind, with Windstream Inbox going to Junk -
just nuts! Those are examples. I either move them or set a rule again.

Re: Three questions

2021-11-29 Thread Chris Chaffin

I would not compare stacked widgets to folders. Rather, like I have mentioned,
they are like a stack of papers. So whatever paper, widget, is on top, than
that is the information you will be able to access.

For example, if your reminder widget is on top, then you will just be able to
swipe down through your current reminders. Then if you just do a three finger
flick up, then you will go to the next paper, widget, in your stack, and you
can then just swipe through that information.

Widgets are good for information that you want to quickly access.

Sorry, regarding the booster shot I don't know, my understanding is that once
the first wave of it is done (older people, health care workers etc.) the
general public will be offered a booster shot starting in January and it will
be strictly by invitation. This means you will get a text message or email when
it's your turn since you would have provided either your phone number or email
address when you registered earlier this year for the first and second shot. I
can't remember when you had your second shot, but whether you are already being
offered a booster or not depends a lot on that. My wife and I had our second
shot on June 11 and they say booster shots will be offered after at least 6
months so for us that would be mid December and I hope that we will also get
our invite to book an appointment some time in January or early February. We
are planning to go to the Philippines at the very end of February or early
March and hopefully we'll get it before then. I would, however, want to have it
at least a week or 10 days before I go on a major trip like yours or ours just
in case you do experience a bit of a reaction; I certainly would not book it
for a day or two before you are about to go on a long flight.

Hi Fazil,

What is the newest phone you have? E-SIM was first supported on the iPhone XS
and XR which were released in the fall of 2018.

I you have a compatible phone like the above or an 11, 12 or now 13-series
phone (or SE2020) it would be best if you switch to e-SIM with your provider
here in Canada. As long as you are with Telus, Rogers or Bell that is no
problem, but as far as I know the MVNO's like Koodo, Virgin, Fido etc. don't
support e-SIM.

I just switched back to Telus from Koodo and while they first sent me a SIM
card, I was told that once my number had been ported over from Koodo and
everything was set up I could get a QR code shipped to me and make the switch
to e-SIM. Once that is done you can then remove the physical SIM from the tray
and throw it away and your SIM tray will now be available for a SIM card when
you travel whether it is your upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia or whether you are
going back home to Pakistan.

You can even set up a special ringtone for the physical SIM so you know right
away when the phone rings whether it's your main number or not although I am
not entirely sure how it works if you assign a custom ringtone to a particular
contact whether that contact if they called the local number from whatever
country you are in would have the ringtone you set up for that SIM or whether
the ringtone you assigned to the contact would have priority.

When is your trip, I hope the new COVID-19 variant won't disrupt your plans.

Best regards,

Sieghard

  Hi Kay,

Widgets started with ios 14, and you can have widgets on your phone for
several apps that you have on your phone. What widgets you decide to have is
totally up to you.

I will just tell you that widgets come in three sizes, depending on the
size you choose will depend on how much of your home screen it takes up. And
if you decide to use multiple widgets, then just know that you can stack the
widgets on top of each other. Just think of them as a stack of papers. So
depending on which paper in your stack is currently on top will determine
what widget you see along with its information. It is very easy to switch
between widgets. Now stacking your widgets is just an option, you do not
have to if you do not want. It is just a good way of conserving space on
your home page.

For specific details on how to add a widget, I will refer you to a podcast
done on AppleVis. I will put the link below.

Lastly I will just say that, for my watch, I also put the battery status
as one of my complications on the face of my watch. This just allows me to
quickly check it without having to take out my phone.

OK' here is that AppleVis link:

  https://www.applevis.com/podcasts/how-add-remove-and-customize-widgets-ios

  Hope this is helpful.

First, Apple Watch questions are definitely on topic for this list, so
feel free to ask away!

Second, to turn the watch off, just hold the long button on the right
side until you feel a haptic feedback, at this time, a pop up will be on the
screen. Just swipe to power off and double tap.

Third, You can check your Apple Watch battery's charge level in
several places:

  1. Swipe up on the watch face to open Control Center and see the
battery percentage.

  2. On some watch faces, you can add a battery complication.

  3. On your iPhone, you can add a battery widget to show any connected
Apple Watch.

  Hope this has been helpful.

Hi Fazil,

According to the below iPhone in Canada article from 2 years ago Freedom Mobile
does support e-SIM:

Freedom Mobile Launches eSIM Support for iPhone XS, XS Max, XR
Shaw’s Freedom Mobile has launched eSIM support for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max
and iPhone XR users.
According to an updated Apple support document, Freedom Mobile is now listed
under “wireless carriers that offer eSIM service” in Canada, joining Bell,
Fido, Lucky Mobile, Rogers and Virgin. Telus does not support eSIM yet.
On Freedom Mobile’s website, searching for “Where can I get an eSIM” reveals a
support document detailing eSIM:

You can purchase a compatible phone and activate service on eSIM at any Freedom
Mobile Store. If you have an eSIM-compatible phone, you can also swap your
regular SIM card to eSIM by visiting one of Freedom Mobile’s retail locations
specializing in Warranty and Repair*.
*Please note, the Freedom Mobile Cornwall Warranty & Repair location is
excluded.

Freedom says QR codes to setup eSIM are valid for one phone only and cannot be
reused.

"An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your
carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM" explains Apple. The addition
of eSIM means you can have two lines with one iPhone as well.
According to iPhone in Canada reader Kris, “Yesterday, when my friend activated
service in store the option was eSIM or regular SIM."

Update June 6: A Freedom Mobile spokesperson reached out with more details
regarding this eSIM launch.
The company says, “We have begun soft-launching eSIM today for customers in a
limited capacity to allow us the opportunity to test the technology in a
real-world setting.”
To use eSIM on Freedom Mobile, customers need to have a compatible smartphone
with the latest software updates or an unlocked device to use their phone with
multiple carriers.
Currently, Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and Google Pixel 3a
smartphones are supported for eSIM on Freedom Mobile.
Customers can activate a service on eSIM, or switch an existing physical SIM to
eSIM at Freedom Mobile locations specializing in Warranty & Repair support,
explains the spokesperson.
For new eSIM activations with a compatible handset purchased, they can be
activated at all retail store locations. For BYOD eSIM activation and SIM
swaps, customers need to visit Freedom Mobile Warranty & Repair locations.
”eSIM technology will be expanded to allow for activations at more Freedom
Mobile retail locations as well as online activation for new and existing
customers in the coming months,” explained Freedom Mobile.

RE: imei numbers?

2021-11-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is no SIM for the Apple Watch, it uses e-SIM and at least for me here
when I just switched back to Telus, one of our 3 main providers in Canada, I
didn't have to go anywhere to get my Apple Watch added to the account.
It's most likely going to be an extra $10/month and the Apple Watch basically
gets added to your primary plan and shares its data.
After a few days I just opened the Apple Watch app on my iPhone and went to
cellular and Telus was there along with a button to finish setting it up which
among a few other steps included one where I had to confirm my home address
which it uses in case I call 9 1 1 from the Apple Watch.

As for the IMEI number, one is for the physical SIM, which is likely the first
one, and the other one, IMEI 2 that is for the eSim. Give them whichever one
you have. IF you are not sure, give them both.

As for the Apple Watch, Once your 12 Mini is your primary phone, ask them again
about activating cellular on the watch. I only have a Wi-Fi only watch, so I
don’t know that process. If it requires a very tiny SIM card, I could see why
you would need to go in.

Perhaps check with Apple?

Hi Sieghard,

Sure, as I stated, stacking widgets is exactly that. One widget on top of each
other, so what you see is the information that is on the widget that is
currently on top. I have not tested it, but I think all widgets in the stack
must be the same size. For myself, I use the medium size widgets.

To stack a widget on top of another, just use the same method that you would
use to move an app.

For example, lets say that you have one widget already on your home screen and
you want to add another on top of it.
1, Flick up on the widget or any app and double tap edit to put things in edit
mode.
2, Go to the top and double tap add widget.
3, On the widget screen, choose the widget you want and choose add widget. This
will put you back on the home screen with the new wieget.
4, Now, you should still be in edit mode, but if not, just repeat step 1 above
to put yourself in edit mode.
5, Just flick up while on the new widget and double tap drag widget.
6, Navigate to your already existing widget, flick down and select add to stack
or name of existing widget.
7, Just do not forget about stopping edit mode once done.

Here is a few gestures to keep in mind when working with widgets.

While on stack of widgets, three finger flick up or down will move between
widgets.
While on stack of widgets, flicking up or down with one finger and choosing
previous or next widget will also move between widgets.
Doing a single finger double tap on a widget will open that app, so just like
the app icon on your home screen. So for any widget I have, I remove that app
icon from my home screen freeing up that space.
Doing a double tap and hold or single finger triple tap will bring up a pop up
edit screen. You can edit the current widget, edit the stack, plus other
choices.

By choosing edit widget from pop up menu, you can select from different
settings that the developer has built in to the widget. So not all widgets will
have this option.

By choosing edit stack, allows you to change the order your widgets are
stacked. Like I put the widgets that I access more near the top.

I am sure I have forgotten something, but hopefully this has been helpful. Like
I said previously, I have a 4 widget stack. My top 2 widgets is my reminders
and calendar, but I also have a weather and battery status widget that I can
access when I need too.

I also used the Today Screen widgets prior to the new widgets being added to
ios 14. It just seems to me personally that the new ones are easier to access
and are more flexible with settings. Plus, I am not sure how much the Today
Screen widgets are still being developed.

Again, hope this helps.

It sounds like stacked widgets are like folders.

Do you find it quicker to access an app in a stack of widgets than in a folder?

I’ve not begun to experiment with this but it sounds interesting.

Thanks much, Sieghard.

I will keep my fingers crossed for not to be affected by the virus (smile.)

My provider is Freedommobile and I don’t have an ESIM compatible phone right
now but I would upgrade should I decide to go for the ESIM. My plan,
tentatively,, is for the third week of January, 2022. Does FreedomMobile
support ESIM?

If I get Booster in January, would it be reflected in my Federal Vaccine

Thanks!

Sieghard

Actually, my question is not of a technical nature.

As you know of my intended trip to Saudi Arab where I have to purchase a local

My question, simply, is that do I have to hand my phone physically to the
person who would take my fingerprints, enter my visa information and complete
the rest of the process, or it would be all through his computer without me
handing the phone to him?

Thanks!

Subject: E-SIM?

Hi, Group.

My question is about E-SIM and I am talking about E-SIM compatible phone only.
Can an E-SIM and the physical SIM be from two different providers? Can they
both be from two different countries?

In order to have E-SIM, do I have to hand my phone to the person processing my
SIM application?

Thanks!

As for the IMEI number, one is for the physical SIM, which is likely the
first one, and the other one, IMEI 2 that is for the eSim. Give them
whichever one you have. IF you are not sure, give them both.

As for the Apple Watch, Once your 12 Mini is your primary phone, ask them
again about activating cellular on the watch. I only have a Wi-Fi only
watch, so I don’t know that process. If it requires a very tiny SIM card, I
could see why you would need to go in.

  Perhaps check with Apple?

Here I go again. I have an iPhone 12 mini and I am wanting to make this
my primary phone with At&t. They want to know the IMEI number so I go to
look it up before I call them. There are two of them listed. No kidding!
So, does anyone know why and which one to use? Totally weird. Now for the
next issue. I want to set Cellular up on my apple watch. I am talking to
an agent with At&t and he says that they can not do this over the phone and
I have to go to the at&t store to get this done. He can not even tell me
how much extra it will cost. Do I wait till later, when I might just get
lucky and talk with someone that English isn't a second language and see if
there might be a different answer? Any thoughts? Thanks much.

Re: screen protector for apple watch?

2021-11-29 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
You can check if Spigen or Supcase Beatal or Ringke have the screen
protector for your watch. All are nice brands for watch accessories
too. I am using Spigen rugged armer pro strap and screen protector for
my Galaxy Watch4 and its nice with decent rugged quality.

Appstore comments

2021-11-29 Thread Ari Moisio

Hello

Is there any way to give feedback or comments in Appstore. I can select
the number of stars and write the commend. On next page number of stars
are asked again and my nickname but there is no button to submit the
comment.

Any help is welcome.
