RE: Is anyone having problem leaving messages for delivery people in Uber eats?

2022-01-10 Thread Debbie Downey
I had the same problem a few weeks ago; again, like Andy I was able to reach
the driver by phone.

Another problem that I'm having is that somehow in the Uber Eats app, my
delivery option has gotten changed to meet outside. I want it to be meet at the
door and when I try to change this in the app it doesn't do anything. So, I
have to place my order on the computer and can then select my method of
delivery and save it. Don't know why it doesn't save it in the app as well?

Tonight this happened with me for the first time, the call courier or message
buttons were there, but when double tapping to send a message, the edit field
didn’t show up and send button was dimmed; there was no way I could figure to
make it so that I could write for leaving a message. I communicated twice with
Uber support by hijacking one of their other items since there was no other way
to do it, and they said about logging out, restarting the device, reinstalling
the app, etc., which I did, but their advice about network settings, etc. I
don’t think should impact on whether the edit box shows up or not . Thanks if
anyone knows anything about this.

Re: Questions regarding smart bulbs, and Apps

2022-01-10 Thread Melanie Clouser
Terri:

I have used the Phillips Hue Smart Bulbs (A19) in 5 of my lamps and/or pendant
lights. I found their app to be pretty accessible. Using these bulbs required
the purchase of a hub to be connected to my modem/router before linking it to
my Alexa (2nd edition). Since then, I have updated my Alexa to the 4th edition
which I believe has it's own integrated hub that may negate the need for the
Phillips Hub. I haven't pursued that yet. The bulbs I bought are dimmable and
work well with the Alexa. It's pretty cool to tell Alexa to dim my kitchen
island lights to 30% or 100% ... or even all the way down to 10%. Of course,
this only works if others in my home would stop turning off the light switch.
Alexa can't turn on the island lights if the switch is turned off. With regard
to the one bulb I put in my Mom's reading lamp, that one won't dim up/down in
intensity since the lamp is older and doesn't allow for dimmable bulbs. All we
can do there is have Alexa turn it on or off. Furthermore, I also use Amazon
plugs that are pretty cool since they work to turn on/off any device that's
plugged into it. I use them most extensively for our Christmas tree and other
decor that lighted up. This year I had them set to turn off the tree and other
lighted decor by simply saying ... "Alexa ... Merry Christmas." I even had
Alexa play Silent Night when we had her turn off te Christmas Tree at night.

In the past, I purchased TP Plugs but didn't like their accessibility or ease
(or lack of ease) in configuring them. Maybe they've update things since then.
I have also bought GE light switches that are supposed to be configurable with
Alexa but I haven't succeeded in getting them configured. I'm told that maybe
they don't work with my type of recessed lighting. Either that ... or my
brother failed to use a particular adapter that was supposed to be installed
when the switches were installed. But, I also found the GE app not all that
accessible ... or just a bit confusing.

Hope that helps some.

Melanie

BARD Express and BARD NLS on a Windows computer

2022-01-10 Thread richardr_turner
Here is the information from the BARD Express web site. Once you login with
BARD Express, you never have to log in again. And, something they don't
mention below, you can add books to your wish list directly from the book
details screen. Making it extremely easy to add books for later download on
your device via the wish list. Or, download them to your cartridge. Read
the documentation for full details.

What is BARD Express?

BARD Express provides NLS patrons with an easy way to
 access BARD. Use BARD
Express to browse thousands of audio books and magazines, download them to
your Windows-based computer, and transfer them to an NLS cartridge or USB
drive. BARD Express simplifies the process by providing a menu-driven
interface, reducing the need to memorize a complex set of keyboard commands.
This means BARD Express can be used with as few as four keys, while
providing advanced functionality for the more adventurous user.

RE: need help getting my SE 2020 working properly again

2022-01-10 Thread Carolyn
Kitty, try turning phone off, then back on. I would be needing help to do that,
if Voiceover is not working.

Subject: need help getting my SE 2020 working properly again

I forgot to put my phone on charge last night. Consequently, battery ran down.
Since recharging, I discovered that I can not give voice commands to open my
aps. When flicking around the screen, voice over does not speak. Yet, when I
hold the home button and say “voiceover on”, I get message saying voice over is
on. When trying to unlock phone, have to enter pass code, as it is no longer
responding to my fingerprint.

Called apple accessability for help. Did screen share. While on phone, my
phone behaved like I would expect it to. By that, I mean that I could flick to
all my aps and hear everything as expected. Hung up from phone call and
discovered that my phone went back to doing what it was doing prior to calling
apple accessability. Called apple accessability tweo more times. I was
talking to rep and when they went to check my account, they never came back.
This was 7-8 minutes in to the call. I truly have never seen my phone behave
like this. Please help. Thanks.

Re: Is anyone having problem leaving messages for delivery people in Uber eats?

2022-01-10 Thread Michael Feir
I just had this happen to me yesterday. Thankfully, I was able to use the
option to call the delivery person. There have been times when even more
critical parts of the app were inaccessible to VoiceOver. The tech support
people who know anything about accessibility at Uber Eats have historically
been difficult to get through to. Hope they get this fixed. Even more
though, I hope nothing else gets broke. I vdeeply value the variety of food
options made available to me through the service.
