RE: Prime Video

2022-01-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I prefer Prime myself. I find the interface is easier to navigate and less
complicated then Netflix. I also find it easier to get in and change things
like the video description. Netflix has gotten better about this, but it used
to be almost impossible to get to these settings since the controls stayed on
the screen for such a short period of time. I also find very few Amazon
originals that aren’t video described.

Do you know if The Rings of Power is an Amazon original or are they getting it
from some other source? If it’s an Amazon original, I’d be surprised if it
isn’t video described.

BTW, I also prefer the Apple TV Plus interface over Netflix.

I so prefer Netflix. It’s very easy to automatically set anything that’s audio
described to come up. And they’ve got a ton of new stuff all audio described.
In fact you can almost bet on anything new coming up including audio
description. Prime really irritates me that there’s so few audio described
movies or series.

Good morning,

I received an email today announcing a new series for this fall, The Rings of
Power, The Lord of the Rings.

The show will not be on the air until September 2, 2022, but there is a
trailer. When I went to the web site to check out the trailer, I began
exploring the details about the show.

They list all the various subtitle languages, but only one audio language,
English. Nothing about Audio Description.

Other shows show English [Audio Description] if it is available.

I called Amazon Accessibility and was transferred to Prime Video support.

The guy I spoke with was told by whomever he checked with that when it says
“audio language English” that means also with audio description. That is
clearly a load of bull. The guy I was talking to checked a couple of shows I
suggested and they have the words Audio Description in brackets following the
word English if they have the audio description track.
So, while it is 9 months before the release of the show, I asked that he
provide feedback to the team that audio description needs to be included.
And, if it is going to be included, they should add that to the web site.

Amazon Prime Video support has its own phone number. If you ever need or want
to call them, it is 888-280-3321

2022-01-20 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi,

Then it sounds very much to me like hey siri isn't enabled on your watch,

I know when I got my s7 it wasn't setup to work I had to enable it.

So on the phone go in to the watch app
Settings and look at the hey siri settings.

Hello Simon,

What I am doing is this:

My Apple Watch is connected either to my iPhone or via wi-fi.

Connectivity is verified by checking for e-mail streaming audio among other
things.

Whether in range of my iPhone or not I simply say “Hey Siri” followed by my
request, such as what is the time.

On my iPhone I get a response to my query.

On my Apple Watch I obtain no response.

If I press and hold the Digital Crown on my Apple Watch Siri responds as you
would expect.

Even if I turn off my iPhone pressing the Digital Crown on my Apple Watch Siri
responds to my speech whereas saying “Hey Siri” results in no response.

Having checked all settings I cannot see what I am doing wrong. After all
saying “Hey Siri” is not difficult to me and if my iPhone responds then it is
perfectly reasonable, given that it supports it, my Apple Watch should respond
too.

Hi there,
I’m kind of in need of a quick answer of how one takes a screenshot on the
iPhone. I just can’t remember and need to have it done. I tried the volume
up/down together, and that didn’t work or the volume keys and the side key, and
that didn’t work either. Any help is appreciated.

Zenkey app and keyboard issue with VO

2022-01-20 Thread brent
Hi there! I was trying to sign up for this Zenkey app that Verizon
recommends as a sort of 2-factor authentication thing. It would really beat
being forced to have to open my email every time I log in there, as it deems
my iPhone 13 not eligible for doing it by SMS. However, I get as far as the
zip code box, and I can't dismiss the keyboard to hit submit on the thing.
I've seen this bug with other number only keypads on iOS before. How can I
work around this? Will I have to have sighted help to be able to set it up,
or is there a workaround for stuff like this?

Thanks.

Re: Prime Video

I so prefer Netflix. It’s very easy to automatically set anything that’s audio
described to come up. And they’ve got a ton of new stuff all audio described.
In fact you can almost bet on anything new coming up including audio
description. Prime really irritates me that there’s so few audio described
movies or series.

Prime Video

2022-01-20 Thread richardr_turner
Good morning,

I am a Prime Video subscriber.

I received an email today announcing a new series for this fall, The Rings
of Power, The Lord of the Rings.

"audio language English" that means also with audio description. That is
clearly a load of bull. The guy I was talking to checked a couple of shows
I suggested and they have the words Audio Description in brackets following
the word English if they have the audio description track.

So, while it is 9 months before the release of the show, I asked that he
provide feedback to the team that audio description needs to be included.

And, if it is going to be included, they should add that to the web site.

Amazon Prime Video support has its own phone number. If you ever need or
want to call them, it is 888-280-3321

Later,

Richard

RE: how to create a group text

2022-01-20 Thread richardr_turner
No,

I was assuming, and we know what a risk that is, that you already had these
folks in your contacts.

If they are not in your contacts, I would put at least one of them in the
contacts so you have a name when in the messages app and not just a bunch of
numbers.

You cannot put multiple numbers in a single contact and expect to treat that as
a group.

In messages, start a new message, put all the phone numbers, or names, in the
to field.

Then, messages will remember that as a group.

It seems clunky because it is.

There is an app, ABC Group Messenger that you can create a group texting list
that might be more what you want.

Now, when any of them answer, it will go to all five people.

You will be able to find that group when you begin to write to any one of them,

RE: Charging My New Phone

2022-01-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Slightly lower on iPhone 12, I believe around 15 Watts.
But if you want to make sure you get the best possible speed and also maybe
have something to support faster speeds which may or may not come in future
then buy something like a 30 Watt USB-C wall charger which supports Apple's
fast charging standard along with a good quality USB-C to Lightning cable. Your
iPhone will then draw whatever maximum amount of power it can handle.

The iPhone 13 range of phones will at their fastest rate accept 20 Watts,
that’s 9 Volt at 2.2 Amps.

Generally the charging profiles of iPhones from slowest to fastest are:

5 Volts at 1 Amp, 5 Watts,

5 Volts at 2 Amps 10 Watts,

5 Volts at 2.5 Amps 12.5 Watts,

9 Volts at 2 Amps 18 Watts and 9 Volts at 2.2 Amps 20 Watts.

The device will negotiate with the charger to establish the correct charging
rate.

So you can use a variety of charging bricks with your phone but to take
advantage of fast charging you will need one that outputs 20 Watts.

Wireless chargers have their own specifications as do MagSafe chargers.

65 or 95 Watts capable of charging a Mac laptop you can still use it as the
iPhone will only draw as much power as it can use..

Hi, Everyone!

I just purchased a new iPhone 13 Pro Max and am wondering what charging brick I
should use to charge it. I have a USB-C charger and I'm thinking that, because
it is a larger phone, I should use that charging brick.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

And you can only fast charge if you use a USB-C wall adapter which supports it
along with a USB-C to Lightning cable, here is some info from the web:

The iPhone 13 will only charge at about 20 watts of maximum throughput, but you
can safely use higher-wattage USB-C chargers too. You just won't see any
additional speed. Of course, fast chargers also require a Lightning to USB-C
cable.
The older USB-A square Lightning cables do not support fast charging speeds.

1.Press the side button and the volume up button at the same time.
2.Quickly release both buttons.
3.After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail temporarily appears in the

Hi Carolyn,

Yeah should be fine,

Wattage is abit lower than I'd suggest but yes they should work,

As someone else said the cable with the newer phones is a USB-C to lightening
cable, But if you have an 11 then you should with that have a charging brick
with an 18 to 25 volts / watts etc plug, The phones all still have lightening
connectors It's jus that the newer charging bricks have USB C in them

Mind you I still use my older charging bricks cables and wifi chargers

So the older tech still works with newer devices.

 Hope this helps.
And good luck with getting a new device.

Good you got the phone, Esther. What color did you get? I know, this
is not a tech question, but I'm just curious. That makes sense to use that
brick with the larger phone.

Hi, Everyone!

I just purchased a new iPhone 13 Pro Max and am wondering what charging
brick I should use to charge it. I have a USB-C charger and I'm thinking that,
because it is a larger phone, I should use that charging brick.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Re: Charging My New Phone

2022-01-20 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Fast charging does not hurt the battery of your iPhone. I've got an
iPhone 8 which was the first iPhone to offer that feature. I've got a
USBC port on my wall power strip and a very nice lightning to USBC
cable and my iPhone 8 will charge very quickly. I'd never use a five
watt power brick. That would be way to slow.
