Hello, yes your questions makes sense. However, we will be all of questions to
ask AT Especially invert comes to your data. I don't think that that should
have any issue. And whatever is going on with that phone number.

RE: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread R Van Lant
Beyond the confidentiality, I love using AIRA for help with online orders that
have visual aspects. My sighted spouse is not a tech fan, so it's less
stressful for us both if I use an AIRA agent to log into my computer and
Finnish online orders for me. Just a minute ago I ask my husband to help with a
slider bar on an order website and he had no idea how to work it. I called
AIRA, had them log into my PC and the guy quickly moved the slider to where I
needed it then helped me finish the order. Last week I bought play tickets for
my family, The AIRA agent helped me navigate the new site and select my seats
in the theater. Know those sites that have countdown timers on them to get
your online order done? There's another time AIRA can help. One agent told me
the shortest counter she had was a 2-minute clock to get the order done.My
time and frustration is worth the investment in AIRA.

What are the advantages of Aira over be my eyes?

I started paying more attention to be my eyes and realised it has the same

RE: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread chrisjudge1967
AIRA does definitely have some advantages over be my eyes. Lately I've found an
invaluable use for them. We have this new expensing system at work where we
have to code our travel expenses each month. We use S A P Concur and the app is
accessible. Part of what we have to do is upload our receipts to the app. When
I get a receipt I just call an AIRA agent. They can take a picture of the
receipt and email it to me. Then, at months end when expenses are due I need
only upload the electronic receipts instead of trying to capture them on my own
using the phones camera.

I don't see what is so special about so called trained volunteers anyway. The

RE: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread Ekstrand, Pamela A. -ND
Very good summary. Most of my calls to AIRA are well under 5 minutes also,
although we do have the subscription for 30 minutes. Yesterday, we called them
to describe the layout of buttons and connectors on a new receiver we had just
gotten. They pulled up the model of the receiver on the web, and gave us a
great description, which we recorded for future use.

Many times, they do take a picture of what you are showing them so they can see
it more clearly.

My husband and I are both blind, or close to, and have found ways to deal with
things that would normally need sight for many years without these services
being available, but it is really nice to have these as an option now also.

I would say as far as Aira and Be my eyes, it all depends on what you are doing.

Keep in mind that Aira agents are sitting at a computer and have access to many
tools like maps of your surroundings, airports that you might be at, and many
other toolsbe like being able to use your camera to take a picture of something
that has extremely small writing and for some reason is hard to scan with
Seeing eye. Also, like Richard said, Aira agents are bonded and are under a
privacy NDA. So they can help you read numbers of a credit card, information
from a bill, or any other personal information. Aira agents can also help you
with task or problems you are trying to do on your computer by the use of team
viewer. And lets not forget that Aira has many free ways of using their
service. Non paying members can use one 5 minute call a day for free, plus you
can use Aira for free if you are at any of their sponsored locations; like
Walgreens for example' or if you are having a problem with Jaws. And just in
case anyone is wondering, the majority of my calls with Aira are less than 5
minutes. They are very quick and efficient in how they help you.

Now, Be My Eyes is a great service, especially for those small quick task, like
identifying objects, maybe finding something you dropped on the floor, locating
a door, Reading a computer screen, etc. But I would not ask Be My Eyes to help
me with anything personal, like my mail, bills, etc.

I do personally use both services, and I think they both provide a great
service. Just like in any situation, what tool I use depends on what I am
currently trying to accomplish.

Hope this helps.

I used to use Aira for 5 minutes regularly. I haven't been able to get through
for months though. You now get a message saying high call volume & premier
customers get priority. So it appears the 5 minute free calls a day will no
longer work. I can't blame them; they need the money to pay their staff. I
have been using Be My Eyes instead & for what I need they have been great.

a couple questions about AT and data plans

2022-05-09 Thread vcollins5286
I'm thinking I might have to call AT for my answers, but since I kind of
hate making those types of phone calls, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask my
questions here first.

As I've mentioned previously, since I don't have a separate internet
service, I have two separate phone lines. I believe that I also mentioned
recently that, off and on, I'm currently switching among four iPhones, two
that have 5G capability and two that do not.

Anyway, first, have any of you with AT who move your SIM card from a 5G to
a 4G phone, or perhaps even move the SIM from one phone of whatever type to
another, found when checking your data usage that your data plan has been
deactivated and a new one started each time the SIM is swapped? To be clear,
it doesn't change my bill amount at all, but it sure makes it hard to use
the *3282# to check data usage when you see one data amount being used and
then deactivated for the rest.

And second and speaking of the *3282#, if any of you have two or more cell
lines with AT and dial that number, do you still get the information for
all your lines or just for the number of the line that you're calling on? I
used to get the info for both of my lines, but now I only get it for
whichever number I happen to be calling from.

Thanks in advance for any responses, and I hope my questions make at least
some sense.

can use Aira for free if you are at any of their sponsored locations; like
Walgreens for example' or if you are having a problem with Jaws. And just in
case anyone is wondering, the majority of my calls with Aira are less than 5

Chris

Re: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread Kathy Brandt
If you leverage what technology you use for what, the minimum plan at least for
me with Aira suffices. That is, use my scanning apps for some things, be my
eyes for reading labels or checking things on my washing machine, and Aira
for confidential information or helping me with aspects of websites I can’t
manage.

RE: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread Richard Turner
AIRA agents are not trained volunteers, they are trained staff. Part of what
you pay for is their salary.

In full disclosure I have no need for AIRA more than once or twice in several
years because I have a sighted wife. I know someone who uses them a lot. She
went on a vacation and use them to take pictures of things she wanted to share
with her sighted friends/family.

AIRA does offer I think one 5 minute call for free per day, so you can try it
out at no risk.

The volunteers with BE MY Eyes I do not believe get any training.

At least the ones I have used didn't seem trained, but were very, very helpful
and willing.

Re: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread Richard Turner
AIRA agents are trained and as I understand it, bonded; so it is said to be
safe having them assist with confidential information.
Be My Eyes are untrained, well-meaning, volunteers.
I would never use Be My Eyes for help with a bank statement for example.

Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-09 Thread Marcos Rodrigues
Good morning.

What are the advantages of Aira over be my eyes?

I started paying more attention to be my eyes and realised it has the same
functionalities of Aira with no cost.

Regards.

Well canceling my trips finally was a success. You have to go into trips and
then where it says past trips double tap on it and then flick right and if I
remember correctly it’s the one before family trips. Hope this was helpful to
people that need to cancel trips in the future.Well canceling my trip finally
