Just don’t totally rely on what the Nest app says is correct, it works, but 
there are times when it mixes up people. You also have to tell the app first 
who is who.

What I will say is when my Ring gives up the ghost, I’ll next be buying a video 
doorbell and cameras with facial recognition capability. I believe Google nest 
doorbells and cameras have this capability. I’ve read that Ring may be offering 
this in a future software or product update, but we’ll see. I know there are 
all sorts of privacy concerns with big brother and all that noise, but big 
brother be damned. Video doorbell and motion detection alerts are nice, but 
what good are they for us if that’s the only feedback we the blind get? 

At least with facial recognition,, you can built up your database  of people 
who may trigger your motion sensor. Neighbor cutting their grass. The FedEx guy 
dropping off a delivery. The bratty ass kid from the corner house playing 
ding-dong ditch etc.

The Amazon Ring doorbell is what you might like.

 

If you have an Alexa with a screen, you can see who is at your door quicker 
than bringing up the app on your phone, and you can talk to the person at the 
door through your Alexa  device, or your phone app.  To talk to the person 
through the Alexa device, just say ‘Alexa, talk to the back door, or whatever 
you name the door.  To see the person, if you have a Alexa with a screen, just 
say, Alexa, show me the front door, or whatever you name the door.

 

With the Ring app on the phone, you can see the video of who is at your door 
and also talk to them through your phone app, if you are away from home, or not 
near your Alexa.

I have a question that's possibly off topic regarding accessible security system

My husband  and I have recently purchased our first home and I'm wondering if 
anyone can recommend a good accessible security system?
I was originally thinking something I can connect my Alexa or google assistant 
too, but I may be looking for too  many things in one package.  I'm looking for 
a security system, but also an outdoor camera and an intercom so when someone 
rings my doorbell  I can ask who's there before I answer the door.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Empower App

Hello all.
I was recently told about an app called Empower, which decentralizes 
ridesharing and gives all money to the drivers. Fares are reportedly about 20 
percent lower than Uber or Lyft.
Signing up was no problem, but there are unlabeled buttons on the “Request 
Ride” screen, and I cannot even change my home address easily.
Has anyone explored this app and figured out the unlabeled buttons?
I was able to get to the Help section, scroll down to Suggestions, and ask for 
full VoiceOver accessibility. I think this might be something we can all get 
behind and request.

The solution that Mike proposed did the job for me. Go into Accessibility, 
voice over, find the programs activity and get rid of it. Problem solved. At 
least here.

There is a book on Vard. Don't remember the exact title, right now, but 
it has many popular birds and their songs. It's more a case of go 
through the birds and find the song, not hear the song and search for 
the bird. I'm sure if you do a search for birdsong, or bird song, it 
will come up.

Well, the photos app is accessible, but it takes time to learn how to navigate 
it.

 

If you are not used to computers or haven’t spent much time learning the ins 
and outs, then it will take some patience to learn how to make it work for you.

 

There are four tabs along the bottom of the photos app.

>From left to right,

Library

For you

Albums

Search

 

If you select the Library tab, it will show you what’s in the photo library.

It tries to organize them for you, which is not intuitive.

 

I prefer to open the camera app, then find the Photo and Video viewer button 
and open that.

This gives you a scrolling item of all your photos.

When you touch the take picture button, a single finger flick right should put 
you on the Photo and Video Viewer button.  Double Tap.

 

Along the bottom of the screen are tabs:

Share,

Favorite, 

Info,

Edit,

Delete.

 

Those all refer to whatever photo is selected.

Just above that bottom row of buttons is the Photo Chooser.

It should say a number of a number, like 1 of 26.

If you are wanting to go to a previous photo, You flick down with one finger.

If you want to go to the next photo, you flick up with one finger.  

You are scrolling the list.

 

You can then take action on whatever photo you have selected.

 

With that many photos, you have a lot of tedious work to do, but I know of no 
other format that is more accessible.

 

Maybe someone else does.

Irobot has really fallen behind with the Roomba compared to other 
manufacturers, the battery life and navigation are not nearly as good as some 
other brands. I would suggest one of the Roborock robots, the navigation and 
battery life are much better than any Roomba, they clean really well and the 
app is mostly accessible. Another great one is the Eufy Robovac X8, again, 
accessible app, great navigation and battery life and it cleans really well 
since it has two vacuum motors. Some other bots clean really well and have the 
great navigation and battery life but the apps are more difficult to deal with 
because a lot of the controls are not labeled.

Irobot has really fallen behind with the Roomba compared to other 
manufacturers, the battery life and navigation are not nearly as good as some

To add a second account to Mail, go into settings, then to Mail. I believe 
there is Ann account button in there that you double tap on. Now, there will be 
an add account button. I think you know what to do from here.
