Since IOS 16.1, the 2-finger double tap to stop dictation frequently starts
music. I eventually can stop the music via Hey Siri, but it usually requires
multiple attempts…possibly because Siri can’t hear me over the music. I have
reported the problem, and am hoping it will be soon fixed.

Subject: stopping dictation

Hi,
I’ve noticed something very recently and think it came with an IOS 16 upgrade.
Wondering if it’s just me. I often dictate using the dictate button to the
left on the keyboard. I realize that I can one finger double tap to stop
dictation, assuming that focus hasn’t moved from that button, but it seems to
me that I’ve been using a two-finger double tap for years. As of late, doing
this gesture out of muscle memory often starts the music player on my phone.
Even if I do another two finger double tap to stop the music, I’m still in
dictation mode. I found it easiest to open the ap switcher and go back to the
app, which disrupted dictation for me. So, does anyone else use a two-finger
double tap to stop dictation and notice this as a change? Either that, or my
latest birthday has send my brain into some weird memory void. For now, I’m
trying to retrain myself to the one finger double tap.

Robin on an SE 2020 running IOS 16.1.1.

I find that sometimes the focus on the phone
changes between when I double tap to start
dictation and double tap to stop it. Turning on
music indicates that you are no longer on an edit

the message text and double tap on it.

Re: stopping dictation

2022-11-29 Thread CHELA Robles
I’ve also noticed that Siri is getting dumber than prior years as well. for
example, I will tell it to open Paramount plus and it will tell me I’m sorry it
looks like you don't have Paramount plus and then it tells me to search for it
on the store when in fact, I have to trick it by saying launch Paramount+,
which it usually works and I say usually because sometimes it doesn’t.

Re: stopping dictation

2022-11-29 Thread CHELA Robles
You know, what I’ve noticed, is that when I start dictation it works very well, but when I try to add dictation it’s still locked me up in dictation mode until I have to keep doing the two finger double tap. It’s weird I’ve never had that issue with music except for once when I had the music app open and I was dictating a message. RE: stopping dictation

2022-11-29 Thread Katrina Anderson
Since IOS 16.1, the 2-finger double tap to stop dictation frequently starts
music. I eventually can stop the music via Hey Siri, but it usually requires
multiple attempts…possibly because Siri can’t hear me over the music. I have
reported the problem, and am hoping it will be soon fixed.

My receiver is a Denon AVR-X1700H. I think the HEOS app does support multiple

Onderwerp: stopping dictation

RE: stopping dictation

2022-11-29 Thread michv
Hi I have found this but not using the 2 finger dubble tap to stop dictation
but it does start music going. I have found though that trying to stop
dictation andthen having vo read back what you have dictated doesn’t always
work but I think that this is a bug starting in ios 16 and it hasn’t been
squoshed yet. From Mich.

Hi Paula,

Since I'm sending a reminder note to my self of Richard's suggestion, here's
where Vibration is:

Open Settings / Accessibility / Touch and swipe to, Vibration, and a single
finger double tap turns it on / off.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi all. I sent this message on Sunday but haven’t heard anything back.
Sending it again hoping for an answer. It’s not a biggy, but I’d like to set
vibration up without having the haptics. I’ve looked through settings and
can’t find where to enable vibration. Probably a very basic question.
Thanks, as always, for any help.

Re: Dynamic island and Accessibility

2022-11-29 Thread 'Sandy Tomkins' via VIPhone
Hi,

Early days as yet, but, as I understand it, you can interact with or
monitor certain active apps, which are running in the background, without
putting your present app in the background. As time goes on, I can see the
possibilities for this functionality. For example, I use the NaviLens app, a
great deal, but for certain activities, it is important that the app stays in
the foreground, if you are following a route or are in Magnet mode, once you
leave foreground status, you lose the route/magnet mode, however, I might want
to keep another object identifying app going at the same time, they may
compliment one another. As yet, not many apps can be seen with the dynamic
island, but I am sure developers will start to incorporate it!

Just my thoughts, I upgraded from an 8 to the 14 Pro and do find it has such
potential, especially via the cameras.

You can get a talking oximeter from Amazon.com. No app required. Hope this

Chris, This isn't possible with just an app. One will need an Apple watch or a
pulse/oximeter device that connects to an app.

RE: braille display and iOS 16 not re pairing

2022-11-29 Thread Richard Turner
Maria,

Make sure you lock the iPhone before putting the Polaris to sleep or switching
to another app.

Then, before trying to reconnect, make sure the phone is locked, put the
Polaris in whatever it calls Bluetooth mode or terminal mode, etc., then unlock
the phone and they should reconnect in a couple of seconds.

If doing things I that order doesn’t work, be sure and let both Apple
Accessibility and HIMS know.

HI.
I am not sure if this is a known bug or if it’s just affecting me. I am also
not sure if it’s an iOS problem or a polaris problem.
when i am using the polaris with the iphone as a braille display and i put it
in to sleep or just don’t use it for a bit, or switch to a different app on
the polaris, sometimes it unpairs with the phone. Nothing I do will make it
pair again. it says the iphone and polaris are connected, but nothing happens.
i have tried restarting the polaris, and then connecting again.
. I still get no braille. The only way i can seem to get everything working
as it should is to restart the iPhone.
Has anyone experienced this either with the polaris or another braille display?
Thanks
Maria

RE: looking for ann app that checks breathing and oxygen levels.

2022-11-29 Thread Richard Turner
Without a device connected to your body, those measurements would be impossible.

The Apple Watch can check your heart rate. It can also check the blood oxygen
level starting I think with the Series 6.

Have you consulted your doctor? There may be much more affordable solutions.

RE: Recording apps

2022-11-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It is called Pocket Recorder and since I didn't remember any more either I just
read a bit further down in the thread, after all, the messages are there so all
you have to do is read them.
The original poster even made it a link, all you have to do is bring up a links
list and type "P" and it's the first and only entry starting with P.

The one clearly negative review said it was only good for recording yourself.
They tried to use it to record a doctor appointment and heard nothing but

I’ll check the app out since it appears to be free.
