Re: Instructions for using SE 2022 needed

2022-12-10 Thread Shai
Hello Nancy,
I would suggest going to applevis.com; there, the site has a link to
getting started with your first iPhone/iPad/watch I would navigate to
this link and then choose the link for getting started with your first
iPhone and review the guides/audio material on there.
You could also Google the topic. Lastly, there are places where you
can get in-depth training if this is more comfortable.

Instructions for using SE 2022 needed

2022-12-10 Thread Nancy Hill
Hi All, We just went to a new carrier.  I had the original SE and the
only thing I would use it for was to make and receibe calls when I was
away from home.  I have also sent a few text messages via voice.

I am thinking about learning a bit more about my new SE.  I am looking
for suggestions on how to increase my knowledge.  I do use Siri a bit
and know how to ask him to turn on Voice Over, but other than that, I am
a blank slate.  I knnow absolutely nothing about swishing, swiping,
tapping etc.

What is the simplest and easiest way to learn about my phone's operation?

Thanks in advance for your help and direction!

Not 100% certain that this is your problem, but something that I've noticed
from my son having two Google accounts; Do you have two factor setup? With my
son's account with two factor setup Google will keep him logged in. With his
account without two factor setup he gets logged out after each session. Also,
confirm that there isn't a check box for Keep Me Logged In.

Re: An issue switching to a new iPhone

2022-12-10 Thread Jim Jones
No, it is turned off. All I had to do was call Apple accessibility, and switch voices in voiceover. Now it’s working fine. However, my App Store apps are not showing up. You know how after it says, personalized recommendations, it should give you a whole list of apps that have been updated recently? It gives me the sign out button, no updated recently list, and no available updates list. I can see them on my old phone, but not the new one. Jim JonesSent from my iPhonecassie1...@gmail.comOn Dec 10, 2022, at 10:37 AM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

I’ve already gone through the update screen, everything transferred over correctly, when I’m on my home screen, I could go to calendar, and instead of staying Saturday, December 10, it just says, calendar. Even
after I made sure screen recognition was off. When I’m trying to back out of something, such as settings, it might say the word settings at the top left, but it won’t say back button. I’ve never had this problem before.

Hi all,
I hardly ever post here, but I’ve got an interesting problem. I’m upgrading from an iPhone SE 2020 to an SE 2022. It seems like the transferring went well, but I can’t find the Alex voice for Voice Over, and the new iPhone speaks jibberish
 sometimes.
Also, if I’m swiping around the home screen, and say I land on Calendar, all it says is the word Calendar, and not the date or the day.

Could it be that I just need to leave the phones alone for awhile, or is something wrong? I’ve switched the Sim card from the 2020 to the 2022 before I set the phone up.

Thanks for any help here.

Yes, once you are in the app switcher you can close ups with a 3-finger swipe
up although I much prefer the other method which is to flick down (or up) with
one finger to "Close" and then to double tap. Since the rotor setting stays on
"close" all I have to do is double tap one app after another to close them. But
of course to each their own so whatever you prefer is fine.

But, then one has to swipe up with three fingers in order to close apps.

Swiping up with 3 fingers is not the correct gesture for the app switcher, at
least it is not any more on phones without a home button. Maybe I don't
remember, but I don't think this was ever the gesture for the app switcher
because with a phone with a home button you would double press the home button.

On phones without home button you touch the phone near the bottom and swipe up
most of the way up the screen; if you can perform the swipe up to go to the
home screen then all you have to do is swipe up a bit further and the app
switcher comes up.

No, I can’t bring it up. When I do 3 fingers up nothing happens. It usually
makes this kind of noise that the phone does when you touch it without giving
any particular command.

Apple suggested to turn voiceover off and on, but it didn’t work out.

That is certainly a new one on me as well.

Since rebooting didn’t work, I hope Xfinity or Apple have a solution.

Did you call the Xfinity Accessibility department? They often are more

sure Screen recognition is turned off.

Also, did you check with your carrier if they needed to do anything on their
end to connect your account with the new phone? Some carriers do have to do
something on their end.

Subject: An issue switching to a new iPhone

Hi all,

I hardly ever post here, but I’ve got an interesting problem. I’m upgrading
from an iPhone SE 2020 to an SE 2022. It seems like the transferring went well,
but I can’t find the Alex voice for Voice Over, and the new iPhone speaks
jibberish sometimes.

Also, if I’m swiping around the home screen, and say I land on Calendar, all it
says is the word Calendar, and not the date or the day.

Could it be that I just need to leave the phones alone for awhile, or is
something wrong? I’ve switched the Sim card from the 2020 to the 2022 before I
set the phone up.

Thanks for any help here.

I’ve already gone through the update screen, everything transferred over correctly, when I’m on my home screen, I could go to calendar, and instead of staying Saturday, December 10, it just says, calendar. Even after I made sure screen recognition was off. When I’m trying to back out of something, such as settings, it might say the word settings at the top left, but it won’t say back button. Reason one to not set it on the raise to wake setting is battery drain.

I mean, you can. But every time the phone wakes, Face ID fires. That’s what I
want to turn off if possible – because just because I woke the thing up doesn’t
mean I want to do more than make it repeat itself. If I need to just make sure
I unlock it first, then… I mean… I will, but if I don’t have to, then why?

Subject: How to prevent Face ID from misfiring?

Hey again, folks. Thanks for the help with my last Face ID question. Mostly I
think it’s just going to be getting used to it. Speaking of that, I’m wondering
if there’s a way I can prevent Face ID from being the default – right now, the
iPhone assumes I want to unlock my phone when it wakes, which results in Face
ID trying to fire off. So for example, my phone will go off while I’m busy
doing something, so when I’m free I decide to check it out to see what it said
in case, you know, something at work is on fire and I need to be not doing the
thing I’m doing. So I pull up my notifications, and Face ID fires off. But
because I’m not intending to unlock my phone but only check to see what I
missed, Face ID inevitably fails because I don’t have it in a good position for
it to succeed—why would I if I only want to check my notifications? Besides
waring earbuds or something, which makes no sense if I’m the only one in the
place and so my phone isn’t disturbing anyone, is there a way I can set my
phone to only try to unlock it with my face when I tell it to? Otherwise, Face
ID is probably going to continue to misfire and end up disabling itself after 5
failed attempts that I didn’t want to be attempts. Again, if I’m missing
something obvious feel free to whap me upside the head with it. Thanks for the
help!
