Re: Instructions for testing IPhone battery health

2022-12-16 Thread Gordon
While you're in the battery section, take a look around and you'll find
information about what apps have been using battery and how much. This
is good to learn if there are any apps using an unusual amount of
battery. One reason your new SE could be using more battery is if you're
using 5G. If you have spotty 5G coverage in your area the phone will
have to work harder to pull in that signal. If that's the case you could
always switch it to LTE.

Voice is missing from AppleTV

2022-12-16 Thread The Evil Chocolate Cookie
I’m writing this in a slightly frustrated frame of mind. For the past couple of
operating system updates, my favorite voice, as well as several others, have
been missing from the AppleTV. I can download the low quality version, but
every single one of those gets on my nerves. Does anyone have the slightest
idea how I can get my voice back?

The app was free when I first got it, but I subscribed when the developer went

RE: I no longer receive notifications from Weather Gods app

2022-12-16 Thread Debbie Downey
Did you pay for an in app purchase for Weather Gods? Don't recall whether there
was a charge for the app back in 2019 when my husband installed this app.

He does not have anything about restore purchases. The only thing that there
seems to do is to purchase an upgrade for certain features for $1.49 per month.

Under his notifications for the app, it says that the notifications have been
paused and that you can turn them back on in the device settings but there is
nothing regarding this under notifications and settings other than
acknowledgments.

I’m guessing you’ve also gone into settings, my account, restore purchases? I
lost my notifications as well, and I am thinking the restore purchases is what
did it for me to bring them back.

Re: I no longer receive notifications from Weather Gods app

2022-12-16 Thread Kathy Blackburn
Under My Account in the app store, I find buttons labelled Purchased,
Subscriptions, Notifications, Redeem Gift Card or Code, Send Gift Card by
Email, Add Money to Account, Set Up Family Sharing, and Personalized
Recommendations. My apps are all up to date, so the list of recently updated
apps appears below those buttons. At the bottom of the screen is a sign out
button. I'm not finding restore purchases.

Re: I no longer receive notifications from Weather Gods app

2022-12-16 Thread Vicky Collins
I’m guessing you’ve also gone into settings, my account, restore purchases? I
lost my notifications as well, and I am thinking the restore purchases is what
did it for me to bring them back.

Hey all,

First, thank you guys for the number for Apple accessibility. That problem is
fixed. Now, however, my new iPhone has completely frozen. No voiceover, no
sound, but the home button still feels like I can push it. I’m guessing the
power is still on? I have no idea what to do. I had just finished using
Facebook messenger. The old phone that I’m using at the moment still works. Any
help would be very much appreciated.

Re: Is it me or is this a bug in Apple Music?

2022-12-16 Thread Kimberly Gardner
Mary,

This is a known bug for VO users. I've seen it myself more than once.
This is how I get around it. I first tap the new playlist button. The
name field is blank at this point and you can type whatever name you
want. Next I tap the add music button and add the first song and any
additional songs subsequently. Another thing to note is that as you
type the name of the playlist you won't hear your letters echoed by
VO.

Please report this issue to apple accessibility. Hopefully they will
eventually fix it.

I hope this helps.

Re: A problem with my new SE 2022

2022-12-16 Thread Donna Casteen
Are you sure the phone battery isn't dead? Is the phone actually turned on. The Se 2020 series phones don't have an actual "press" Home button. The Home Button is a "touch" button. Have you tried plugging in a pair of headphones to see if the volume is completely lowered? My guess is that the phone is powered off or the battery is completely dead. DonnaI just tried calling myself from my Alexa device. It rang twice and went to voicemail. Even my other phone didn’t say anything. Jim JonesSent from my iPhonecassie1...@gmail.comOn Dec 16, 2022, at 9:55 AM, Gordon wrote:

First, thank you guys for the

The old phone that I’m using at the moment still works.

See if you can answer the phone either with the two finger double tap if
VoiceOver is on, or the one finger swipe left to right near the bottom of the
screen.

Once answered, see if you can do anything.

I would assume you already rebooted it with the quick press and release of
volume up, then volume down and then holding the power button for at least 10
seconds.

Then, wait for it to come back, or plug and unplug it after a couple of minutes
if nothing speaks.

These SE phones have a unique problem that doesn't seem to affect the more expensive phones. It was worse with my S E2, but it has happened twice with this one. It seems to be the worst if  I  am using my wired earpods, but I have had it happen with other headphones, too, and even when it is on its speaker. I have used vareaous fixes to get it going again. Sometimes, I  can turn voiceOver off and on again and it will start working again. Other times, locking the screen for a few minutes will fix it. Sometimes, telling siri to call a phone number will straighten it out. The problem has something to do with the phone call disconnecting, making another phone call fixes it. As I say, this stuff seems only to affect the s E phones. It can go for days, and various phone calls with no problem. As with any problem, Apple would have to have one of them in front of them exhibiting the problem before they ever could investigate it. Does holding the home button and asking Siri anything work?

Can you ask Siri to turn VoiceOver on?

If it says VoiceOver is already on, then try a
three finger double tap to unmute VoiceOver.

Hey all,

First, thank you guys for the number for Apple
accessibility. That problem is fixed. Now,
however, my new iPhone has completely frozen. No
voiceover, no sound, but the home button still
feels like I can push it. I’m guessing the
power is still on? I have no idea what to do. I
had just finished using Facebook messenger. The
old phone that I’m using at the moment still
works. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Is it me or is this a bug in Apple Music?

2022-12-16 Thread Mary Otten
Today, I tried to create a new playlist, using my phone in Apple Music running
iOS 16.2. I added the first song to the new playlist, and the playlist title
became the title of the album where that song is located. I added subsequent
songs, just to be sure that that’s what happened, and sure enough. So, I got
the playlist on my screen. I went to the Moore button and hit edit. Voiceover
will not delete anything from the field to let me redo it with the playlist
name I want. I got my husband to do it, and he saw some kind of a copy cut, and
paste menu, but no way to actually just delete the text and type it in again.
What am I missing here?

Re: A problem with my new SE 2022

2022-12-16 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I did not get the original message, or I would have replied directly to it. These SE phones have a unique problem that doesn't seem to affect the more expensive phones. It was worse with my S E2, but it has happened twice with this one. It usually happens when a phone call ends, perhaps Facebook messenger would have the same problem. The thing just locks up. VoiceOver won't say anything, and it is not the volume having droped. RE: A problem with my new SE 2022

2022-12-16 Thread Richard Turner
If you flip the mute switch, do you feel a vibration? If so, you know it is
on.

Does holding the home button and asking Siri anything work?

Can you ask Siri to turn VoiceOver on?

If it says VoiceOver is already on, then try a three finger double tap to
unmute VoiceOver.

2022-12-16 Thread Debbie Downey
HI Kathy,

My husband Grant used to receive notifications from Weather Gods also but no
longer does.

He also has an iPhone 8 running IOS 16.2

He thinks that perhaps they want you to pay for this feature now or that is how
it appears.

It's too bad!

I used to receive notifications from Weather Gods: one in the morning and
another in the evening, and additional ones in the event of severe weather. My
iPhone 8 is running IOS 16.2; Weather Gods version is 3.9, which is the latest
one. I stopped receiving notifications weeks ago. I've settings within the app
and in the settings app and don't see anything amiss. I'd welcome any
suggestions. Thanks for any help.
