RE: SiriusXM Streaming and Multiple Devices

2023-02-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Well, then I guess Siri XM charges the same in Canadian Dollars, I assumed you
might be in Canada since typically most things are a bit more in Canadian
Dollars due to the exchange rate.
This is again an example where what I said before applies, please include your
location since there are people on the Viphone list from many countries
including some where Sirius XM isn't even an option and often what such
companies offer and are allowed to do various based on local laws.
The fact remains that you maybe didn't read down far enough to the "Offer
details" where the other conditions are set out including " You can only listen
on one streaming device at a time per subscription" which Christopher confirms
also applies to the United States.
I guess it's one way for Sirius XM to prevent what people do with Netflix,
Disney Plus and many other services which is to share their login information
with maybe a couple of family members or good friends and to then share the
cost of the sbubscription. Netflix is also starting to put a stop to this and
more and more companies will probably come up with ways to do so. If you really
wanted Sirius XM, I assume it's for the sports and talk and not for the music
since you can have a better offering from services like Apple Music, Spotify,
Amazon Unlimited, Deezer and a number of other services, you would have to get
something like a Sonos system since it supports Sirius XM and once you have a
few Sonos speakers in different places in your house you can then group them
and play whatever it is you are listening to on multiple devices.

RE: Default app layout.

2023-02-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Not unless you restore your iPhone and even then you may end up with the latest
layout since it is part of iCloud backup and they happen at least once a day or
so.
I find it surprising that you "accidently" change your app layout because in
order to do so you really have to very deliverately double tap and hold, then
drag your finger across the screen.
There is a setting to restore the app layout in Settings > General > Transfer
or Reset iPhone > Reset. It is called reset home screen layout, but keep in
mind that this will not put things back the way you had them.
Here is what it does, this is taken from a question on the
discussions.apple.com forum:

Reset Home Screen Layout will reset your iPad and iPhone's built-in apps to
factory defaults (the way they were arranged by Apple initially) and will
alphabetically rearrange apps that were added (not automatically included)

So any included apps like Calculator, Camera, Clock, App Store, Settings,
Photos and many more will appear in whatever order Apple decided to put them in
when you set up a brand new iPhone, any apps you added afterwards will be
listed in alphabetical order from A to Z. This will also include a few folders
because if I remember correctily som of Apple's default apps are in folders
like "Extras" and maybe there are others, can't remember.

Here are a few questions which if you answer them may help you to understand
why your apps seem to get moved and maybe myself and others can provide some
tips on how to prevent it:
First of all, what do you mean "now that I can't do it by flicking up on the
app"?
2. In what situation do you think a double tap and hold is required on the
home screen?
3. Do you have motor issues which may help in understanding why when you double
tap and hold you apparently also drag your finger up, down, left or right?
4. Have you explored how you can arrange apps yourself so that you could fix
any accidental rearrangement? By this I mean have you tried to understand the
steps involved which are:
1. Go to the app you want to move, flick down to "Edit Mode", double tap and
again flick down until you find "Drag" and double tap
2. Go to the app where you want the first app to be
3. Use flick up or flick down to select on of the available options of either
dropping before or dropping after the app you are on
4. Double tap when you get to the choice you want. Here is an example:

Let's assume as follows:
Safari is on your first home screen in the very top row and on the very right
of the screen.
Settings is in the bottom in the second position from the left.
You want to move Settings to the first row at the right where Safari is now
located, do as follows:
1. Find the Settings app, then flick down to "Edit Mode" and double tap,
Voiceover says "started editing".
2. Flick down until Voiceover says "Drag Settings", now double tap to select
this option (you can always flick up as well, whenever it comes to selecting
rotor actions, flicking up or down gets you to where you want to be)
3. Now move to where you want Settings to go, in this case you want it to go to
where Safari is on the right in the top row. Flick until you get there or
touchb the screen near the top and then flick either left or right as the case
may be.
4. Once you hear "Safari, flick down again until you hear "Drop Settings before
Safari". This is one situation whee sometimes you may hear "Drop Settings after
Safari", but not "Drop Settings before Safari", in this case flick up again and
back down, it seems sometimes Voiceover skips an option, but if you flick down
and back up you will find it.
4. Once you hear "Drop Settings before Safari" double tap and Settings will be
moved to where Safari is in the top row on the very right and sAfari will be
pushed over which in this case means it will end up in the second row on the
very left.
You can also achieve the same result by going to the app to the ledft of Safari
which would be whatever app is in the third place from the left in the top row,
let's say it is "App Store". In this case you would go to App Store and flick
down until you hear "Drop Settings after App Store", you double tap and once
again Settings will be moved to the right most place in the top row and Safari
gets pushed over ending up in the second row on the very left.

Unless somebody have other challenges like shaky hands or other motor
difficulties, using this method to move apps can typically be done easily and
with good success once you understand how it works. If you master it you will
surely find it satisfying and it gives you another little bit of independence
since you now can do something you previously felt you needed sighted help for.

can only stream on one device at a time. If I start a stream up on a second
device then I hear a message on the first device stating that since I'm

Hmm, I used the word device too many times, so I hope that makes sense. I guess
the bottom line is that for that plan, yes you can only stream on one device at

Default app layout.

2023-02-06 Thread Barbara Stahl
Hi list. So I was wondering if there was a way to somehow create a shortcut or
something to force an iphone to revert back to a certain app layout for the
home screen. Dispite the fact that I have disabled home screen editing I still
manage to accidentally rearrange my apps every few months or so. Now that I
can't do it by flicking up on the app, it does not happen as frequently, but I
still manage to do it accidentally doing a double tapp and hold or something.
Its really annoying because I have to then get sighted help to fix it.
Does anyone know of a way that I could create a shortcut or something to force
the screen to go back to its previous app layout the one that existed before I
accidentally changed it?

Hi James,

I expect you'll have much more success with your question on an Android list as
opposed to on one that discusses iPhones.

Good luck.

SiriusXM Streaming and Multiple Devices

2023-02-06 Thread Rich De Steno
If i signup for the SiriusXM Platinum streaming service at $10.99 per
month, will I be able to stream two different channels on two different
devices in my house at the same time, or does SM limit you to one stream

RE: Multiple Text Messages Not Showing Up on Entry Screen

2023-02-06 Thread sherrywells1157
Thanks for this info Mark! My display as was set to count. I tried changing
it to stacked but hadn't received multiple texts yet to test it. Now I have
changed it to list. I also made the other change you suggested so all should
be fine now.

Thanks again!

Hello Sherry,

Did you get your problem resolved?

I think I understand your question.

So, since updating to iOS 16.x, you have noticed a difference in the way SMS
notifications are appearing on the lock screen of your iPhone 8, right?

You want to see SMS notifications appear in a list view, on the lock screen,
rather than seeing only the latest SMS notification, only.

You may adjust how SMS notifications are displayed on the lock screen by doing
the following:

1.
>From the Settings area, select Notifications.

2.
In the Display As, section, located near the top of the resulting dialog box,
select List.

3.
Select Messages.

4.
In the Notification Grouping area, select, Off.

Subject: Multiple Text Messages Not Showing Up on Entry Screen

Hello,

I am using an IPhone 8. I was a few versions behind on IOS so updated to the
current version recently. In the past when I got a text message, it showed up
at the top of the entry screen right under the time. If I got more than one
message, the first one would move down & the second one would be above it etc.
Now a text shows up at the bottom of the screen. That is no problem. When I
get more than one text though, only one shows up & I have to open the text app
to read the rest. This is annoying & takes a bit more time. It was so
convenient to just have all the texts on the entry screen. Does anyone know of
a setting I can change to allow multiple texts to show up on the entry screen?
Or even a way to swipe to hear all the messages. I’ve looked around & tried
various swipes but no luck.

Thanks,
Sherry Wells

She just might have to live with beat up phones then. I always tell my husband,
fix it or live with it, that's it, and with her, either case or bummed up
phone.

Thanks. I’ll take it to an Android list.

And, I agree with every one who recommended to always use a good case. This
lady is just stubborn about using a case.
