I’ve recently read an article about the benefits of crossword puzzles, related
to dementia, etc. and thought I would begin to look for some of these. Are
there any that are blind friendly that you all know of that I could access on
my phone?

I found it in the US App Store. One thing to note is the Crosswords app has a
cost of $9.99 and includes several in-app purchases for more puzzles.

Another possibility is that maybe your speaker volume has been turned down very
low; I would start a Facetime audio call and then repeatedly press the volume
up button.

I have used Facetime both with video and just as audio and have had no problems.
I suggest you close all apps from the app switcher and reboot your phone and
then see if that helped.

Re: Accessible crossword puzzle apps

2023-02-17 Thread Steve Matzura
First thing to do is to read the seven little clues and se what words
you can come up with which might be the answers. You can do these one at
a time, of course. The next thing to do is, for each word you think you
know, start looking at the word fragments to find  the beginning letters
of the word, double-tap that, then continue until you've spelled the
word. I find it a lot of fun and a challenge. But then again, I like
Rubik's Cubes with twenty-five squares on a side instead of just nine.
LOL. Hahaha, just kdding. 7LW isn't nearly as hard as Rubik's cube, and
you get to improve your vocabulary at the same time.

Hi, a little side question. How do you belong to 13 library systems? :) I’d be
interested if there are more library resources out there than I am aware of.

Thanks,

Re: Accessible crossword puzzle apps

2023-02-17 Thread Donna Casteen
The New York Times crossword app & website are accessible. & so are the other
NYT games. I also enjoy playing 7 little words. The game is similar to a
crossword game, in which the player is given a clue & there is a grid with word
segments 2-4 letter groups & from these segments the player choses the segment
tiles in order to spell out the answer to each of 7 different clues.

Hi Star Gazer,

I'd recommend you place Screen recognition in your rotor and set it to yes when
reviewing your followed podcasts with the Amazon Music app. I found much more
info was being spoken with screen recognition turned on when reviewing
available podcasts under the Library tab just now.

Actually, keeping screen recognition handy is a good idea when dealing with any
app that doesn't seem to be speaking info you feel certain is present.

Since I’m totally blind this is is not helpful to me.

Anybody know how to fix or who I talk to at Amazon?

Re: Accessible crossword puzzle apps

2023-02-17 Thread Judy Holloway
Hi. There used to be a crossword puzzle app in the app store called "FOUR
Down," which had some free crossword puzzles, and then you could get some more
for a small charge. I loved this app and worked all the puzzles. It was
aessible, and I worked the puzzles without a Braille display. I don't know
if it's still available now, but this was an excellent app. Also, there is a
crossword puzzle in the Blindfold Games set of apps, which includes about 40 or
50 games of all types made especially for blind people.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

The NYTimes crossword is good. Not sure if it works on the phone but I use it
on their website on my computer.

Accessible crossword puzzle apps

I’ve recently read an article about the benefits of crossword puzzles, related
to dementia, etc. and thought I would begin to look for some of these. Are
there any that are blind friendly that you all know of that I could access on

Re: amazon music app and podcasts

2023-02-17 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Star Gazer, I'd recommend you place Screen recognition in your rotor and set it to yes when reviewing your followed podcasts with the Amazon Music app. I found much more info was being spoken with screen recognition turned on when reviewing available podcasts under the Library tab just now. Actually, keeping screen recognition handy is a good idea when dealing with any app that doesn't seem to be speaking info you feel certain is present. Alan Lemly Sent from my iPhoneOn Feb 17, 2023, at 6:24 AM, Star Gazer wrote:For whatever reason my list of followed podcasts doesn’t show up under the shows tab in the library section when using voiceover.
