Where does it keep the document if I take keep option, please?

Re: counting steps on apple watch SE

2023-03-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hi. If you are walking on a treadmill and your hands are holding onto the bar or bars on the equipment, then I can understand why the watch wouldn't count very many steps since your hands are stationary. There are step counting apps which you can use from the watch and/or your phone to count steps. I use one called Steps App. It works on the phone and Apple Watch, and it even has watch complications which can show the number of steps, distance, or flights climbed, or a combination of these. I don't recall if the app was free or had a cost. It has served me well. The iPhone app is extremely accessible, and the app even syncs the data to the native Health app. I use the Health app to track other information, but I can easily look up information about my step count too. Warm regards, Wayne MerrittJAWS Certified, 2023http://freedomscientific.com/certificationCheck out my GoodReads page:http://goodreads.com/waynesbooksOn Mar 9, 2023, at 4:03 PM, Mary Otten wrote:I should also have said that if you are say walking on a treadmill, and you engage a walking workout, you still won’t get step count worth a darn. Re: How to manage passwords?

2023-03-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hi. It is possible to have up to 2 password services. For instance, I have selected both 1Password and iCloud Keychain in my Password settings. For a brief time when I used Chrome, it showed up in that list as well. I do not think you can add a service to this list, but if you install an app that can remember and create passwords, I believe it will show in the list. I'm not certain but I think there is an options button once you select Passwords from the iPhone Settings. Most of my passwords are in both 1Password and iCloud Keychain, but there are likely some that are in only one app. Warm regards, Wayne MerrittJAWS Certified, 2023http://freedomscientific.com/certificationCheck out my GoodReads page:http://goodreads.com/waynesbooksOn Mar 11, 2023, at 11:12 PM, Dennis Long wrote:You need to decide what you are going to use and turn off the other one.  So if you are going to use 1password as an example you turn off iCloud keychain so they will all save in 1password in the future.  This is user error that you will need to sort out unfortunately. From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Mária OrovcíkováSent: Thursday, March 2, 2023 1:04 PMTo: viphone@googlegroups.comSubject: How to manage passwords? Hello list,I have been using Password managers for ages to access passwords on my Windows 10 laptop and Iphone.Since Icloud keychain has been available, all my passwords are messed up.Some are saved in a password manager and some are saved in the Icloud keychain, because when I used some websites or apps on Iphone requiring passwords, I saved the passwords in the Icloud keychain, but forgot to save them in the password manager. When I used my laptop, I saved password in the password manager, ut didn't save them in the Icloud keychain.I would like to have all passwords in the Password manager and in the Icloud keychain too. Please, is there a way to merge passwords and have them saved in the password manager and Icloud keychain, or will I have to save every single entry manually?I have more than 100 paswords, so it would take me too long to add them one by one.Thank you very much for your help.Maria-- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. If you have any questions or concerns about the running of this list, or if you feel that a member's post is inappropriate, please contact the owners or moderators directly rather than posting on the list itself. Your V iPhone list moderator is Mark Taylor. Using Apple Watch in the pool or lake/ocean

2023-03-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

I thought I would also make this a separate post to see if some others here use
their Apple Watch on a regular bases for swimming work-outs whether that is the
pool swim or in open water like a lake or the ocean.

I have an Apple Watch 5th generation and for the most part I am still quite
happy with it.

One area where I am very unhappy with the way it works is when I go to the pool
and use it for tracking my typical 40 lap (1,000 meter) pool swim workout.

I don't know if a new 8th generation watch would perform better, but I find my
watch is extremely frustrating to use in the water. I am also sure sighted
people don't share this since my wife has the same watch and she never has any
issues.

First, even when waterlock is not yet on, but the touch screen is maybe wet
already and I have wet fingers, it is very unreliable.

Secondly, once I start my pool swim workout and waterlock engages, the watch is
pretty much useless for a Voiceover user until you press and hold the digital
crown to turn waterlock off. Once you do you at first again deal with the wet
screen and wet finger issue. I find often the workout screen which has 3
pages/screens to it scrolls to the third screen which is the currently playing
screen and which I really don't care about. So then you first have to try and
change it back to the second screen which displays your workout details. I
really have to get into the habit to bring a small towel or something so I can
wipe the watch dry and dry my fingers.

Lastly, even at 100% volume it's not easy to hear what Voiceover is saying in a
pool setting where there is echo and typically a good amount of background
noise. I am thinking I should maybe try one of these waterproof headsets you
can get to see if that wouldn't improve the quality of the watch experience
because I regularly find myself saying not very nice things to my watch and
Apple for making it so difficult.
I am pretty sure a sighted person can tap the screen or press the digital crown
or side button when the watch is in waterlock and they can see all the
information about their workout so it's annoying that as a Voiceover user that
information is not accessible, why can't it be set up so that pressing the
digital crown and/or side button wouuld tell Voiceover it should read the
important workout data such as time and how many length I have done etc. I
understand the Apple Watch 8 Ultimate or whatever it is called is quite a bit
louder so that might be helpful in this setting, but I'd be really interested
to hear from others who regularly use their Apple Watch for swimming workouts
if they found any work-arounds for that problems I am describing.

Best regards,
Sieghard

RE: Should I upgrade from Apple Watch series 3 to latest model?

2023-03-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

If you waited this long and considering we are now half way to the next major
Apple September release, I would probably keep the series 3 Apple Watch and
upgrade to one of the new Apple Watches this fall which I assume will be the
series 9.
I never bought the initial Apple Watch, but my wife and I bought the second
Generation and then we upgraded a few years later to the Apple Watch 5th
generation and we both still have them. I remember that going from 2nd to 5th
generation came with a big speed bump and I was definitely not unhappy as at
times using my 2nd generation was painfully sluggish.

Now I am still quite happy with the 5th generation except for using it in the
pool and here I really don't know if a new 8th generation watch would be much
better, but I find it extremely frustrating and useless for use in water.
First of all, even when I don't yet have waterlock on, I find the watch very
difficult to use when I have wet fingers and the watch is just a bit wet on the
touch screen.
Secondly, once I start my pool swim workout and waterlock engages, the watch is
entirely useless for a Voiceover user until you press and hold the digital
crown to turn waterlock off, then at first if you still have wet fingers you
again deal with the frustration of the touch screen either not reacting well or
doing all sorts of things you don't want it to do; it foten goes to the third
workout screen which is your currently playing screen, then you have to try to
get it back to the second screen if I want to see actually any details about
how long I was swimming and how many length I did and so on. I really have to
get into the habit to bring a small towel or something so I can wipe the watch
dry and dry my fingers.
Lastly, even at 100% volume it's not easy to hear what Voiceover is saying in a
pool setting where there is echo and typically a good amount of background

Hey all,

I've been using my apple watch Series 3 for a very long time. Should I upgrade
to a newer model? Is there much point? I figured the speed increases would be
worth it, but are the other features like blood oxygen measurements etc useful?
I also had a question regarding the new zones feature on watch OS 9. Are you
able to customize the feature, so you get audible or haptic alerts when your
active zone changes? That'll help blind people a ton since we'll get that
information in realtime.
thanks!
