RE: vibratory feedback returns, as well as classic default tones

2023-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
For me I always had my custom ringtones under Sounds > Ringtone, but under the
other categories like Text, Voicemail I did not.
Anyways, I installed iOS 17.1 Developer Beta and just checked and now all my
custom tones are also back and I can use them for text tone, voice mail, email
etc.

No, I'm referring to tones you create, save as m4r files and add to your phone.
That is not available in the iOS 17 or 17.0.1.

Subject: E-mail search Frustration and my Gmail Dilemma

 Hi folks,
I've had a GMAIL account going back years and years, probably since 2007
or thereabouts. When I look at the Mail icon in the dock, it says that I
have close to 100,000 unread messages, so it's clearly time for a
"scorched earth" option or perhaps the nuclear option for clearing out
this stuff once and for all. I'm tired of looking at that crap. When I go
into the native Mail app on my iPhone 12 Pro, I can search for a variety
of subjects, senders, et cetera and come up with a list of results but
when I do, I don't see an option for editing and doing a select-all, which
should then allow me the option to delete all, which is what I want to do.
Is there a way to do this in the native Mail app, or am I stuck with
dealing with the Gmail website, which is a royal pain in the butt, in my
opinion? Please help, as I've been wrestling with this for days now and
 I'm getting increasingly frustrated.
I am not fond of the Gmail web interface and would like to anything
that I can do to avoid using it on my Windows PC. If I absolutely have to
use Safari and it works, that's OK, I'll do that. I just want to get the
 job done.
Just to clarify a bit, I have labels for friends, family, saved messages,
the JAWS list and vi-phone list that I don't want to mess with. My
primary concern is about stuff that's been lying around in my inbox for
all this time, or before the last six months or so.
Any help with step-by-step instructions that will work are greatly
 appreciated.
 Thanks in advance.
 Tom

I aws able to do this with previous versions of iOS, although admittedly this
was with the use of iTunes on my laptop. I’ve searched for and purchased
ringtones from the iTunes Store. I have not tried to create anything

2023-10-02 Thread Loreal Lavigna
You can still customize tones for texting for all or for individual contacts,
and you can play sounds for incoming mail/VIP senders. If you’re referring
though to the new tones introduced in the previous version of beta 17.0, I’m
not sure. An article said that the new tones went away with this latest
release, but it is very possible they could be back soon.

Also according to the article I read, there were updates to Apple Music, and
there were a couple visual changes such as a flashlight indicator showing up in
the top bar above the top row of icons sits, but the anticipated Journal app
from Apple has yet to make its appearance.

I

Can try and find the article and send it tomorrow morning, but if not then some

Re: E-mail search Frustration and my Gmail Dilemma

2023-10-02 Thread Jonathan Cohn
There is actually a slightly different way that I have always done.
1. Open Mail settings
2. Click on the Gmail account
3. Just below the Gmail account heading, there is a button labeled with
account and the name of your account, click on this button.
4. Click on the advanced button near the bottom of the screen
5. IN here there is a Heading labeled “Move discarded messages in to” with two
choices Deleted Mailbox and Archive Mailbox.

Choose Deleted Mailbox to have the button on the bottom left labeled as delete.

2023-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There are adapters for everything, but if you wanted to use the old wall
charger you might as well get a UsB-C to USB-A cavble instead of having to deal
with an adapter.
Anyways, getting a good USB-C wall adapter is the way to go and if it is for at
home where you might want to charge other devices as well I would get a 3-port
or 4-port one which delivers a total of at least 60 Watts, you can get them
with all USB-C ports, but you can also find some which have 2 or 3 USB-C and 1
USB-A port which comes in handy if you have Micro USB devices around and cables
for them.
I also have ordered USB-C female to Micro USB male adapters which allow me to
use my USB-C cable and charge Micro USB headsets or speakers with the adapter.

There may be adapters to go from the USBC male to USB A female so the old
charger could be used, but it will charge much more slowly than a new USBC
charger.

Just saw this older message where you said you are upgrading from an iPhone 8.
If you didn't buy a wall charger and if you don't already have a USB-C wall
charger which delivers at least 20 Watts of power you won't be able to charge
your phone.
Your iPhone 8 wall charger will not fit the USB-C cable which comes with the
iPhone 15; if you have a wireless charging pad it will work, but once again you
probably have an older one with 5 or 7.5 Watts which means you r new iPhone 15
will charge a lot slower as it could.

Please give me your opinions. Right now my phone works. OK, other than I have

RE: Problem sending audio message by WhatsApp

2023-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You either have to double tap and hold your finger on the screen the entire
time you are speaking or if you want to record a pretty long message you can
double tap and hold, then swipe up and you will hear Voiceover say "Recording
locked". At that point you can let go and speak freely, when you are done find
the "Send" button and double tap it. Note that if you use the external
microphone the person who gets the audio message will hear Voiceover, e.g.
they will hear "recording locked" and any swiping or tapping you do to
find/activate the send button. If you don't want that use a headset.

You should say "including all sound except external sounds like anything you

recording option in /Control Centre to turn that on.

Hi Steve,

You can do a screen recording. Go to the Control Center part of the settings
app, and make sure screen recording is inserted in your control center. Then
from anywhere, go to the control center and press on the screen recording
button (usually located towards the end of the screen). Do the same to stop
recording, or lock your phone screen, which also stops recording. This creates
a video of your phone screen, including all sound. You can find this video in
your photo library. If you want, you can also use an app like AudioConverter to
create an audio file of the video you recorded, or record the audio to an
external device in real-time.

Hope this helps!

Make sure you select the full reset option, once you double tap to confirm the
phone will reset and boot up to the setup screen which is exactly the same as
you get if you buy a new iPhone. Voiceover will at this point not speak unless
of course you triple press the side button to turn it on.

Thats what I have done and I will remember that for this suggestion not in a

for sure but this could come in handy as you suggest. I will write it in a
positive incentive manner to Apple.

I hope hundreds of you will do so, but I know i'll be the lonely one. I know

You may just have to be patient and wait until you get it. It is my
understanding that Be My Eyes is now rolling it out in stages so it probably
won't be long. It does work amazingly well though and the desdcriptions are
sometimes almost spooky detailed and accurate.

It could be a week, or a month, no date has been given.
I'd suggest writing them through the settings in Be My eyes, Feedback.

I had the same problem. I took several pictures and it said "failed to analyze
picture". So I closed the app, then reopened it. Still the same. Then I
uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, reentering all my data. I must have
been connected to the Internet at least because I redownloaded the app from the
App Store.

Now it says Be My AI access pending. That's a bit mysterious because it just
said Be My AI before, nothing about access pending. But maybe when I do get
access back, it'll work. If not, then I'll write to them.

If it does work this time, I'll let you all know.

RE: Haven’t heard from anyone regarding the email I sent yesterday.

2023-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you have an older iPhone wall adapter it will work with the new iPhone if
you have the right cable.
I assume you ordered one of the iPhone 15 models which means the port on the
phone is now USB-C and not Lightning any more.
The new phones don't come with a wall adapter any more and the cable you get
with your iPhone 15 or 15 Pro will be a USB-C to USB-/C cable so depending on
what phone you had before, it may or not work with your adapter.
If you had an older phone like an iPhone 8 or 11 then I am pretty sure they
still came with an adapter with regular USB-A port which is the large rport
like you have on computers and the cable which comes with your phone won't fit.
Also, even if it does fit you have to see how much power your charger delivers
because if you want to take advantage of Apple's fastest charging speed, you
need at least a 20 Watt USB-C charger.

Well, after talking to Apple, technical support yesterday and a few times to
where I got my phone from when I talked to Apple support you know for
accessibility the way you turn VoiceOver on it’s by pushing the button three
times that you turn the phone on with after the phone turns on. And I also
inquired, and the gentleman told me for Face ID, that I would hold the phone in
my hand, just like we do iPhones now, and point it upwards toward our face.
Once I get my phone, I call my carrier and they’ll activate it with the same
number I have now. Then after that, I call Apple accessibility and someone from
there will help me transfer everything from my current phone to the new phone.
I don’t think mine comes with the case or the screen protector cover. It would
be cool though if the screen protector cover for my phone, I have now and the
case would work with the new phone. I guess I’ll find out when I get it. The
second person I talked with from my carrier, said that any of the iPhone
chargers I have would work with the new phone as well. So I hope this is true,
even though it comes with the charger.

A couple things we will both have to get accustomed to are not having a home

RE: Be My Eyes is not working

2023-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You may just have to be patient and wait until you get it. It is my
understanding that Be My Eyes is now rolling it out in stages so it probably
won't be long. It does work amazingly well though and the desdcriptions are
sometimes almost spooky detailed and accurate.

They are rolling it out soon.
It could be a week, or a month, no date has been given.
I'd suggest writing them through the settings in Be My eyes, Feedback.

How does one get set up for Be my eyes AI? When I open the app I see a button

RE: battery life of the 15 pro

2023-10-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Battery usage is such a subjective thing that any statements are to be taken
not just with a grain but a bucket of salt.
Not only does it depend on how much video you "watch" or how much audio you
listen to, how many phone calls you make, emails you get and on and on, but it
can even depend on how good of a cell signal you have.
And as for the othger stuff, do you have your Mail app set to fetch mail all
the time or only once an hour or when you open it? Do you make regular phone
calls or Facetime calls, if Facetime then audio only or video? If you watch
/listen to video it may also depend on the app and all that. We heard that
Instagram and YouTube may need to update their apps as the way their apps are
designed may contribute to the overheating problem with the iPhone 15 Pro and
Pro Max, in the same way the way an app is designed can have an impact on
battery usajge.

I say this knocking on wood, but it’s longer than even the 14 Pro. Not a
