Sure, you can always manually update any app you want and skip others, of 
course then they will always be there showing that they have updates.
I wonder how many Sirius XM users who are upset about the lack of accessibility 
are in touch with the company on a regular basis lobbying for better 
accessibility. Yes, it takes a lot of effort to do this, but it can really pay 
off as well.

Then vote with your wallet and cancel your subscription. It is in my opinion 
not up to Apple to police accessibility or force companies to follow 
accessibility guidelines. If Sirius XM doesn’t care about visually impaired 
users then it should be their loss. I remember when I first started using Sonos 
and the app was really terrible. Then I started lobbying them for accessibility 
and a few others joined me, Neil Barnfather from the UK was very involved, and 
next thing Sonos started making changes and the app became better and better. 
Now it’s been perfectly accessible for well over 10 years and update after 
update accessibility remains good.

put pressure on companies like SiriusXM, which had a really crappy app that 
sort of got better overtime until now. This is an audio centric app. They have 
to know that blind people use audio centric apps. It be nice if Apple would 
require audio centric apps to have all of their stuff labeled accessibly? I 
know it will never happen. But it should. I’m not asking for every app in the 
App Store to be fully accessible. But something like SiriusXM with a clearly 
audio centered thing, that should be made to be fully accessible to voiceover 
in order to get onto the App Store . I’m sorry, but this is crap!

No issues here, either, I just had some Christmas music playing, in particular 
the song "Holy Night", and both Siri and the music recognition feature in 
control panel came back with "Holy Night by Nina Nesbit" which I thought was 
pretty good since there are probably a hundred artists who have done this song.

since installing 17.2 Siri and Shazam will not recognise music. Siri says try 
again later and Shazam appears to do nothing.
I am using a 13 Pro. I have a friend who has a iPhone SE  who is having the 
same problem. My wife who doesn’t use VO has not trouble with her 14 Pro it 
works perfectly. I have turned off the bluetooth  incase working with my 
hearing aids was causing this with no change.
I wonder if VO is the problem.
Anybody else seeing this?

I had to use the searched tab and do a search for the word all and then I
found the complete channel list. The thing that annoys me, the double tap
does not work to stop playback. So you either have to close it in the app
switcher, or search for the place/pause button to stop it. I love the way
it used to be because you could just zip to the channels real quickly if
you wanted to similar to changing the dial on a radio.

Not if automatic updates is on. I don't use automatic update. I check for updates by doing a single finger triple tap on the app store icon, then flicking right to updates and double tapping. Then I touch near the bottom of the screen and do a three finger swipe down to refresh the screen. Then I read about the app updates before updating. To get to the NFL channels, I was able to go into the search tab, type NFL in 
the search field and then tap the last unlabeled button to get to all of the 
team channels. Of course, I also have some of these channels marked as 
favorites, so they show up in my library.

I can get to many areas, but the app is much more graphical and has a huge

I'll get used to it and it will take less time over the next weeks and months, 
but it is bad in several ways. I am not sure,but I think that the screens are 
like a roller item because once I am on a particular page, I never seem to 
reach the tabs at the bottom. I see the various tabs, but I used to do a three 
finger swipe a few times and get to the bottom where the tabs were located or I 
could move slowly with one finger over the screen until I reach an area near 
the bottom and I would see the tabs. It is as if the tabs are moving or in the 
middle of the page or something I am not sure of.  Using the three finger swipe 
up and down to turn pages is now essential, but it is never as accurate as 
using the single finger left/right to move item by item.  More and more apps 
seem to be switching to this method and display more information per screen but 
give you less movement with screen reader commands.  Spectrum TV app changed to 
that kind of interface in September and I am finally getting somewhat use to 
it. It is still much more difficult and less accurate to get to a particular 
station than it used to be.

I have reported this via the settings/feedback to both the SiriusXM App and the 
StarplayrX app developers and hopefully (I doubt it) they may be able to 
restore some accessibility.  Yes, the items generally speaking do read and 
identify, so given enough time, I can find things.

When I first logged onto the SiriusXM app, it asked me to enable Siri for the 
app. I thought this might enable me to give a command such as:
Siri, open the NFL portion of the SiriusXM app' but this does not work.
I wonder what you can do with the SiriusXM app and Siri.

What does health information have to do with the default tone?
If Siri says it can't tell you then possibly this is not something you can ask 
Siri yet or you aren't asking the right thing or if it concerns Health 
information you may not have allowed Siri access.
When I just tried (I had never asked Siri about Health information) I was told 
that I had to give access first and there was a button for Health Settings, 
once I tapped on it right at the top was the button to allow Siri access.
Keep in mind that if you manually go to Settings > Health that this is not 
under "Siri and Search" but under "Data Access and Devices".

My Analysis Of the SiriusXM and StarplayrX Apps

I also got the error with the StarplayrX app. It says 'error logging in; 
your IP address has been blocked for 24 hours because of too many log-in 
errors.'  This is odd because I can still log in with my SiriusXM App 
and can connect without any issues.


As concerns the SiriusXM app itself, it is a definite decline in 
accessibility. I can get to many areas, but the app is much more 
graphical and has a huge amount of clutter that VoiceOver just doesn't 
handle properly. When I wanted to go to the NFL portion of sports, it 
took me five minutes to do this. Now maybe I'll get used to it and it 
will take less time over the next weeks and months, but it is bad in 
several ways. I am not sure,but I think that the screens are like a 
roller item because once I am on a particular page, I never seem to 
reach the tabs at the bottom. I see the various tabs, but I used to do a 
three finger swipe a few times and get to the bottom where the tabs were 
located or I could move slowly with one finger over the screen until I 
reach an area near the bottom and I would see the tabs. It is as if the 
tabs are moving or in the middle of the page or something I am not sure 
of.  Using the three finger swipe up and down to turn pages is now 
essential, but it is never as accurate as using the single finger 
left/right to move item by item.  More and more apps seem to be 
switching to this method and display more information per screen but 
give you less movement with screen reader commands.  Spectrum TV app 
changed to that kind of interface in September and I am finally getting 
somewhat use to it. It is still much more difficult and less accurate to 
get to a particular station than it used to be.


I have reported this via the settings/feedback to both the SiriusXM App 
and the StarplayrX app developers and hopefully (I doubt it) they may be 
able to restore some accessibility.  Yes, the items generally speaking 
do read and identify, so given enough time, I can find things.


When I first logged onto the SiriusXM app, it asked me to enable Siri 
for the app. I thought this might enable me to give a command such as: 
Siri, open the NFL portion of the SiriusXM app' but this does not work. 
I wonder what you can do with the SiriusXM app and Siri.

SuperSense update ads AI descriptions much like Be My Eyes

Today's update from SuperSense ads AI and an auto translate feature. It appears 
to me they have adopted pretty much the same thing that Be My Eyes added with 
the AI descriptions. It also uses AI in text scanning. And, as always, they

Not sure how many people will agree with me, but I really like the new SiriusXM 
app. There were things about the old app that I really hated, and I try not to 
use that word. If I couldn't bring up something on my smart speaker then I 
would dread having to bring up my app to look for something. This new app seems 
a lot simpler and more intuitive to me. I've found two places with unlabeled 
buttons, but it wasn't hard to figure out what they did. Not sure if I can add 
VoiceOver labels or not. I had issues with the previous app, but at least for 
me, the issues with the new app are more palatable.

since installing 17.2 Siri and Shazam will not recognise music. Siri says try 
again later and Shazam appears to do nothing.
I am using a 13 Pro. I have a friend who has a iPhone SE  who is having the 
same problem. My wife who doesn’t use VO has not trouble with her 14 Pro it 
works perfectly. I have turned off the bluetooth  incase working with my 
hearing aids was causing this with no change.
I wonder if VO is the problem.
Anybody else seeing this?

Yes, that is the correct battery.
I've replaced mine a few ties in the years I have had the thermometer.  They 
tend to last a long time.  I always make sure I turn it off when I am done 
using it and confirming in the app that it says Probe not connected.

every day, I strongly recommend using Voice Dream reader and downloading 
preferred Bible translations from Bookshare. That's what I do these days. I 
used to use Bible Gateway until one day, like so many APPS, it became almost

I second You version Bible app it works very well with a braille display. I 
usually connect my e-reader from NLS and take it obviously to church with me 
and read the Bible that way when I follow along with the congregation when the 
pastor reads certain passages.

It is a paid app, but it offers the Bible in several versions and many kinds

Recently, there was discussion about the forthcoming "improved" SiriusXM APP 
due for release today. So far, there's been no change. However, I also use the 
simple StarplayrX APP, and, today, when opening the APP, I received an error 
message that because of so many incorrect logins, I've been blocked from the 
APP for 24 hours. I don't recall these "incorrect logins", and wonder if the 
APP may have been shut down temporarily, or permanently. Any thoughts from 
other users?

17.2 and recognising music

Hi all,
since installing 17.2 Siri and Shazam will not recognise music. Siri says try 
again later and Shazam appears to do nothing.
I am using a 13 Pro. I have a friend who has a iPhone SE  who is having the 
same problem. My wife who doesn’t use VO has not trouble with her 14 Pro it 
works perfectly. I have turned off the bluetooth  incase working with my 
hearing aids was causing this with no change.
I wonder if VO is the problem.
Anybody else seeing this?

What does health information have to do with the default tone?
If Siri says it can't tell you then possibly this is not something you can ask 
Siri yet or you aren't asking the right thing or if it concerns Health 
information you may not have allowed Siri access.
When I just tried (I had never asked Siri about Health information) I was told 
that I had to give access first and there was a button for Health Settings, 
once I tapped on it right at the top was the button to allow Siri access.
Keep in mind that if you manually go to Settings > Health that this is not 
under "Siri and Search" but under "Data Access and Devices".

No issues here, but this can just be a temporary glitch and I have even noticed 
at times when peopl epost about difficulties with Siri that they can be 
location based, e.g. if you have issues where you are that may not mena others 
have issues elsewhere, maybe it goes through a different server or something 
like that.
Just make sure you give Siri a bit of time after you press the button, if you 
speak too quickly it may not hear the first part and therefore you get a bad 
result.
For example, I may say "Call John Smith", but if I speak too quickly all Siri 
hears is "John Smith" and then you get stuff like "What would you like to know 
about John Smith".

Thanks Christopher. It didn't show up in today's updates for my iPhone. Also, 
I'm still not able to log into the Starplayrx App that's meant to be the more 
user-friendly Sirius app. In that APP, once you're logged in, you're always 
logged in, that is, until this morning. Thanks for what you've been able to

StarplayrX broken

Apparently, with the new Sirius XM app, StarplayrX is broken.

Like others, I get the login error, too many login attemps even though there
was only one.

It also shows Canada unchecked, with no other countries listed.

I thought maybe it was needing me to reenter my password.

Well, I somehow hadn't written down my Sirius XM password so just went
through some less than fun hoops to get my Sirius XM password reset.

But, alas, no joy.  That made no difference with StarplayrX.

 

Let's hope the makers of StarplayrX release a fix.

I haven't seen the new update yet either, but I've been tooting with someone on 
Mastodon who is using it, and his biggest complaint so far seems to be 
unlabeled buttons. That's only been a few hundred of characters exchanged, so 
don't read too much into that.

I use the iGrill Mini from Weber that is a leave-in thermometer.  The wire 
connecting the probe to the brains of the unit is close to 4 feet long so is 
works in ovens, on grills, etc.

This is a single probe.  I gather you can buy a set from 2 to 4 probes if you 
are cooking multiple things at once.

Transfer Gmail contacts to iCloud?

I have some contacts that for some reason are stored in my Gmail account.

I would like to move these into my iCloud account but cannot see an easy way to 
achieve this.

For some reason my default account for contacts had been changed to Gmail but I 
would like them all to be stored in iCloud.

Any advice welcome.

Ah! Mary, Mary, Mary!

As difficult as it is to believe, Apple continues to exclude messages, on Apple 
Watch, from the across-device deletion ecosystem.  It drives me mad, also.

I get text messages, and I have an Apple Watch and an iPhone. If I delete 
something on my iPhone, it will even say this will be deleted on all of your 
devices, but it isn’t. And I don’t think the watch actually says things will be 
deleted on all my devices, but why not? And this could also apply to 
notifications. If I have notifications on my screen and I delete them all from 
the lock screen, why do I have to continue to do that when I go into 
notifications? I don’t want to keep deleting and deleting and deleting the same 
darn thing on multiple devices in multiple places. What am I missing? I want 
them gone everywhere if I deleted once. Is that too much to ask or am I missing 
something?
