With VoiceOver enabled, Can anyone locate the Speech Screen controller in iOS 17.2?
Hello All, I feel as though I am missing something. Try as I may, I cannot locate the Speech controller in iOS 17.2 when VoiceOver is enabled. Please do the following on your iOS 17.2 device: 1. >From the Accessibility Settings area, select, Spoken Content. 2. Enable Speak Selection. 3. Enable Speak Screen. 4. Select Speech Controller and enable, Show Controller. Now, open any app with text or, for that matter, open any dialog box in a list view, such as the settings area and see if you can get the feature to work. There used to be a way to see the speech controls at the top of the screen but, try as I may, I cannot find them. By the way, I have my Spoken Content voice set to Siri. All replies most appreciated. RE: Seeing own messages from Google
Max, You can Cc (carbon copy) yourself on messages sent to the group in order to insure that they were, at least, sent out to the gMail servers. Please note that the fact that you can not automatically see messages posted to the Google group is a function of the Apple software and not some kind of limitation of Google. RE: Hearing aids and HomePods
Max, I have found hearing aids do use the same Bluetooth arrangement and frequencies that other audio devices use. I fear you cannot use two audio devices at the same time. It is at least possible that the app that manages your hearing aid connection to your iPhone could allow some flexibility. * Your audiologist might have useful information and your hearing aids might be more flexible than mine. * Apple telephone accessibility technical support could also help. The phone number is 1-877-204-3930. Others on the list may know of a text-based option if texting them is better for you.. I hope you find a satisfactory solution. Yes, SuperSense is an app, and it is over priced. You can get everything it offers between free apps, Seeing AI, Be My Eyes, and Envision AI. What do you do to set up account with Be my AI? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Robin Frost Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2023 6:44 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Comparison between Envision AI and Be My Eyes AI descriptions Hi, It isn't the most straightforward if you haven't been in it before. Did I miss something? When I launch the app, I only see, no pun intended, 2 options (1), I need visual assistance, call company or volunteer and (2), I’d like to volunteer, share your sight. I was hoping to use the app’s AI image description, only, at this point. How does one activate that feature? The app store indicates that there are in-app purchases but, even after exploring the website, I cannot determine what the various fees are for and how they work. For example, in the app store there seems to be a purchase for $19.95. What does this particular fee cover? All replies greatly appreciated. I took a picture and it said, "I'm not sure but it could be a room with a tv on a table." I did the same scene with Be My Eyes AI and got the following. The picture shows a living room with a cozy and homely atmosphere. On the left, there is a wooden rocking chair with a black jacket draped over it. In the center, a flat-screen TV is placed on a wooden stand, and beneath the stand, there appears to be a cable box or DVD player. To the right of the TV, there's a lamp with a classic design on a small table. Behind the TV, a window with white curtains allows natural light to enter the room. On the right side of the image, a decorated Christmas tree is partially visible, suggesting the photo was taken during the holiday season. The walls are painted in a light color, and there is a large, framed artwork of a Christmas tree above the rocking chair. The floor is wooden, and in the foreground, a corner of a quilt with a patchwork design can be seen, indicating the viewer might be sitting on a couch or bed covered with this quilt. Is super sense an app that goes on an iPhone? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Malcolm Parfitt Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2023 4:13 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Comparison between Envision AI and Be My Eyes AI descriptions I have just carried out a similar test with Envision AI, Be My AI and Supersense. The room is decorated with two green chairs, one on the left side and the other on the right side of the room. A TV is mounted on the wall above the fireplace, and a few books are scattered around the room, adding to the cozy atmosphere. There is no television in the room. Be My AI give me: The picture shows a cozy room corner with a festive atmosphere. There's a fireplace with a dark wood mantel adorned with green tinsel. Above the mantel hangs a framed picture of a steam train. On the mantel, there are several Christmas cards and a small framed photo. In front of the fireplace is a large mirror leaning against the wall, reflecting a decorative snowman standing on the hearth. The snowman is white with a red scarf, black hat, and appears to be handmade, possibly knitted. Two armchairs with a floral pattern flank the fireplace, their wooden arms and legs visible. Between the chairs, on the floor, lies a red cylindrical object that could be a rolled-up rug or wrapping paper. The floor is covered with a patterned carpet featuring a mix of beige, red, and blue tones. The overall ambiance is warm and inviting, with a traditional holiday feel. Focusing from the top of the image downwards: At the top, there's a framed image depicting a steam locomotive moving along the tracks with a lot of smoke around it. Below the framed image, several framed photographs and a couple of Christmas-themed cards are displayed on a mantelpiece. In the center of the mantelpiece is a golden clock with a red face. On the lower shelf of the mantelpiece, there's tinsel draped along the edge, giving a festive look. A large mirror sits on the mantelpiece and reflects a beige-toned room, but not much of the room is visible in the reflection. In front of the mirror is a small fireplace façade, which seems to be a decorative item rather than a working fireplace, along with logs as a part of the decoration. A small, plush snowman with a red scarf and a black hat is placed in front of the fireplace. On the left side, there is a green upholstered armchair with wooden details. On the floor, the room is covered in a patterned carpet with floral and geometric designs, primarily featuring beige, brown, and red tones. On the right margin of the image, a small part of what looks like a wooden blowpipe and a red candle can be seen. The image has a warm ambiance, with the lighting casting a soft glow on the furnishings and decorations, evoking a cozy atmosphere. Need more details? Type your questions about the image below. Re: Sirius app update improvements and observations
Greetings. After doing more playing with the app, I am getting used to it and am liking the new design. For instance, if you double tap the now playing info at the top, the now playing screen will open up and seems to be a lot less cluttered than the way it was before. Plus, all buttons and items are labeled. I was very pleased to find that 1 swipe after the play button was the Go Live button. On the older version, Go Live was 3 or 4 flicks right, which I found a little annoying. It wasn’t a huge issue but I still found it inconvenient that Go Live was several swipes away from other useful content. I haven’t explored everything I’m sure, and there are definitely things that could be better. For instance, I miss my nice list of favorites from the old app. Although, the new design has removed buttons after the channel name. I also miss the rewind and fast forward buttons. Those made skipping songs, particularly on the weekly countdown shows I enjoy, very convenient. It takes some getting used to, and there are still more things to work on, but I’m warming up to the new app’s design.Happy holidays to all,WayneWayne MerrittJAWS Certified, 2023http://freedomscientific.com/certificationConnect with me on GoodReads:http://goodreads.com/waynesbooksOn Dec 22, 2023, at 8:26 PM, Richard Turner wrote:Your method seems to be the only way to really narrow it down to the NFL teams, but it would be much better if they put them in alphabetical order. At the top I see several live and upcoming sections for the NBA, college football and so on. I wonder if a live and upcoming MFL section will pop up tomorrow when we have NFL games. Note that across the top you’ll see what you last played, followed by connect to device, play and settings. Below that you’ll see the buttons for you, music, talk and podcasts, sports and so on. For the Sirius/XM app users on list, there was an update today which has some accessibility enhancements. After installing the update, I found headings showed up in different places within the app, such as on the Discover tab when navigating among sections of the screen. I also found headings on screens for channels I would like to listen to. Granted, I haven’t explored all parts of the app, and it will take some experimenting but this was a welcome surprise. Especially when so many people, including me, were upset with the recent major update which changed a lot of things and brought many unlabeled buttons. Sirius is my main source for NFL games, and I like their weekly countdown shows on the 80’s and 90’s channels. I wish they gave us more of a traditional means of organizing favorites with the edit/done buttons and being able to reorder favorites with rodor actions. Oh well. Hopefully the app will continue to improve. There are a lot of things I really like about the main Sirius/XM app which one does not get from the more simplified StarPlayerX app. Happy Holidays, Wayne Wayne Merritt JAWS Certified, 2023 http://freedomscientific.com/certification Connect with me on GoodReads: http://goodreads.com/waynesbooks -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
