Do you have any idea why it changed? It happened some days after update to iOS
17.

Go to the Settings app go to where it says sounds and vibrations and go to
where it says ringtone double tap on that and then you’ll see an option for
whatever kind of tones you want. You can scroll through them and pick what that
sounds good to you.

Hello,

Suddenly, my iPhone SE iOS 17, has a different sound when I receive a call. The

Why did it change?

Question about photos

2023-12-27 Thread Rena
Hello,

I deleted the photos in my windows pc. However, the photos are still in the
phone.

The phone says that photos are linked to iCloud, so I don't understand why
if I deleted them in the computer why they remain in the phone?

Am I doing anything wrong? Please, explain.

How do I get rid of the photos I don't want?

You can even mention my name and that this has come on an email group for

I find it mostly consistent. The sleep focus issue is similar to what happens

When Apple Watch is in Silent Mode, tap and hold 2 fingers on the watch face to
feel a haptic version of the time.

When VoiceOver is on, double-tap to feel hours and minutes. Triple-tap to feel
minutes only. below is the hint in the Watch app on the phone for haptic time,
I assume the first part is referring to when voiceover is off.

It does not work consistently for me.
I have S E version of the watch. It seems like the first time I do a triple

On my new Apple Watch Ultra 2 I can use haptic time with very good consistency,
however, there is one oddity which sounds like it is a bug. First of all, here
is what Apple Accessibility said in their reply to the email I sent them in

2023-12-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Why not just get a MagSafe charging stand, most of them are made so the phone
can be used for Facetime in either portrait or landscape orientation and the
benefit is that your phone charges at the same time.
I personally have the Belkin 3-in-1 stand which has a spot for the iPhone, an
Apple Watch and a set of Airpods which I don’t have, but while I can’t see
myself buying any at this time, one should never say never.
And if you are ever in the market for a good wireless keyboard to use with your
iPhone and possible a computer at the same time, the Logitech K780 has a slot
across the back which can hold an iPhone and even an iPad standing up.
Apart from that there is a large number of little stands and tripods available
from Amazon and other sellers which all allow you to position your iPhone for
Facetime and other video calls without having to hold the phone. Of course if
you are sitting at a table you could just lean it up against something.

I do not know about the 15's but remember that the phone will sit flat with the
camera either pointing down to the table or up toward the ceiling, so trying to
do FaceTime would be pretty much impossible. You would want a stand that held
the phone at more of an upright angle. The stand is a wooden frame with an
adjustable piece for the different width phones. I don't know about the extra
large phones.

Because in this case deleting them from your computer does not delete them from

You have to delete them on the phone, then they will also be deleted from

Hello,

The phone says that photos are linked to iCloud, so I don’t understand why if I
deleted them in the computer why they remain in the phone?
Am I doing anything wrong? Please, explain.
How do I get rid of the photos I don’t want?

Hello All,

I feel as though I am missing something. Try as I may, I cannot locate the
Speech controller in iOS 17.2 when VoiceOver is enabled. Please do the
following on your iOS 17.2 device:

1.
>From the Accessibility Settings area, select, Spoken Content.

2.
Enable Speak Selection.

3.
Enable Speak Screen.

4.
Select Speech Controller and enable, Show Controller.

Now, open any app with text or, for that matter, open any dialog box in a list
view, such as the settings area and see if you can get the feature to work.

There used to be a way to see the speech controls at the top of the screen but,
try as I may, I cannot find them.

By the way, I have my Spoken Content voice set to Siri.

All replies most appreciated.

Mark

Visible Wireless keyboard text entry

2023-12-27 Thread sarai.bucciarelli
Hi all:

So far I'm enjoying Visible wireless. The app is 99% usable. One annoying
issue is with voiceover running when entering in text I've had other
characters enter in that I don't type. Work around is copying and pasting
the majority of text.

I hit a snag. They now have two factor authentication and I cannot type the
code due to text being entered in that is in addition to what I type. You
cannot edit either. I've even tried with a Braille display.

No go.

Has anyone found work arounds?

Re: With VoiceOver enabled, Can anyone locate the Speech Screen controller in iOS 17.2?

2023-12-27 Thread Richard Turner
Good question Sieghard,
I thought that was mostly for non-VoiceOver users, or in the case of speak
screen, if you wanted to lock the phone while reading something lengthy. But
speak screen only requires a two finger swipe down from the status bar... In
the past, having both speak selection and speak screen on with VoiceOver caused
more distraction than helping. But there must be a specific case where all that
is desired.

I assume this is a cellular provider/MVNO in the US?
As for the 2-factor authentication, is it delivered by text message? If so then
on your iPhone you just have to locate the button to automatically fill in the
code which is typically available just above the on-screen keyboard on the
left, tap it and the 2-factor code from the text message is automatically
inserted.

As for the 2-factor authentication, is it delivered by text message? If so then
on your iPhone you just have to locate the button to automatically fill in the
code which is typically available just above the on-screen keyboard on the
left, tap it and the 2-factor code from the text message is automatically

I hit a snag. They now have two factor authentication and I cannot type the

No go.
Has anyone found work arounds?

Note that across the top you’ll see what you last played, followed by connect

Greetings. For the Sirius/XM app users on list, there was an update today which

screens for channels I would like to listen to. Granted, I haven’t explored all
parts of the app, and it will take some experimenting but this was a welcome
surprise. Especially when so many people, including me, were upset with the
recent major update which changed a lot of things and brought many unlabeled
buttons. Sirius is my main source for NFL games, and I like their weekly
countdown shows on the 80’s and 90’s channels. I wish they gave us more of a
traditional means of organizing favorites with the edit/done buttons and being
able to reorder favorites with rodor actions. Oh well. Hopefully the app will
continue to improve. There are a lot of things I really like about the main
Sirius/XM app which one does not get from the more simplified StarPlayerX app.

For Those with Dual SIMs installed on iPhone Running iOS 17.2.1 or later, Have you Noticed that iMessage Automatically Switches to the Default SIM Regardless of your Selection?

2023-12-27 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I recently came across this issue on my beloved 14 and, upon searching the
web, discovered hundreds and hundreds of others, encountering the same
issue.

In order to see this issue, in action, it is best to have access to both the
phone that is sending the iMessage and the phone that is receiving the
iMessage. It's best, but not necessary.

This issue only occurs when sending iMessages, not standard SMS messages.

Okay, here is the scenario:

1.
You have two active SIM cards on an iPhone running the latest version of
iOS. For simplicity's sake I will refer to them as a primary line and a
secondary line; or as a primary number and a secondary number.

2.
Make certain that both lines are registered in the iMessage app and that
both are active in iMessage. This is to say, you can send and receive
iMessages using either number / line. To insure that both numbers are truly
registered with the iMessage servers, First disable and then enable iMessage
in the Settings area.

3.
>From within the iMessage Settings dialog box, select the primary SIM as the
default line from which to start all new iMessages.

4.
In a new iMessage, select a saved contact and send the iMessage from the
secondary line. This is to say, as you compose your message, in the, from,
field, select the secondary line and then send the iMessage. More likely
than not, the recipient will receive the message from your primary number,
instead of the secondary number, you manually selected.

You can check this, for your self by doing the following:

1.
>From within the Message app, open the thread to the message you just sent.

2.
Near the top of the screen, in the center, single-finger, double-tap on the
name of the contact listed at the top of the thread. This will open a
dialog box.

3.
Now swipe to the right until you hear VoiceOver say, "Conversation line."

4.
Swipe, once more, to the right and VO will land on an unlabeled button.

5.
Single-finger, double-tap on this unlabeled button. A 2-item list box will
be displayed.

6.
Swipe right, then swipe left, a couple of times and you will hear VO speak
the name of each line and, upon the second swiping pair, you will hear VO
announce with item is selected. This will be the line from which your
iMessage was actually sent. It will, most likely show that the primary line
is selected.

You can, of course, at this point select the secondary line and close the
dialog box to be returned to the active messaging thread. Just above the
edit field, near the bottom of the display, you will find displayed text
that indicates that the line has been switched, meaning that your next
iMessage to this contact, from within this thread will now be sent from the
secondary line.

Go ahead and send another message and you will, most likely discover that,
yet again, iMessage automatically switched you back to the primary line.

Interesting, eh?

Question, has anyone in the group encountered this, besides me?

Mark

RE: With VoiceOver enabled, Can anyone locate the Speech Screen controller in iOS 17.2?

2023-12-27 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Gentlemen,

There are several reasons why the Speech controller can prove to be most
helpful.

1.
Even though Siri can read correctly formatted websites, out lout, it cannot
read articles from Apple’s own News app. Amazing, eh? So, as I am a big fan
of Apple News Plus, and frequently find myself reading long articles while on
the move or doing chores, where I may need to easily stop and start Siri
playback, engaging the Speech controller allows me playback options similar to
those found in BARD Mobile, Libby, and the Audible app.

2.
Although I am Alexa’s number one fan when it comes to enjoying Kindle books via
the Kindle app for iOS, slowly but surely, Amazon has removed Wired Ear Pods
playback functionality from the Alexa app. This is to say, one has to use
Voice commands, more and more, in order to engage Alexa. There are many
scenarios in which voice commands simply stop working, for example, if iPhone
locks or another app grabs focus.

Fortunately, the native Apple speech controller works better with the Kindel
app for iOS than ever before. So, while certainly not my first choice, if
given the option, Siri does a remarkably fine job of reading Kindle books with
more wired Ear Pods playback functionality than Alexa has offered in over two
years. And the best part? The speech controller now actively causes the
Kindle app to turn pages, as it reads, just like my beloved Alexa.

So, there you have it, two reasons why I find the native speech controller an
essential treat in the Apple orchard.

But there must be a specific case where all that
is desired.

Did you remember to set the size of your speaking bar? I set mine to 52% I
found it at the top next to the volume up button on the left side of the phone.

Subject: With VoiceOver enabled, Can anyone locate the Speech Screen controller
in iOS 17.2?

Mark

As for the 2-factor authentication, is it delivered by text message? If so then
on your iPhone you just have to locate the button to automatically fill in the
code which is typically available just above the on-screen keyboard on the
left, tap it and the 2-factor code from the text message is automatically
inserted.

Subject: Visible Wireless keyboard text entry

Hi all:

So far I’m enjoying Visible wireless. The app is 99% usable. One annoying issue
is with voiceover running when entering in text I’ve had other characters enter
in that I don’t type. Work around is copying and pasting the majority of text.

I hit a snag. They now have two factor authentication and I cannot type the
code due to text being entered in that is in addition to what I type. You
cannot edit either. I’ve even tried with a Braille display.

No go.

Has anyone found work arounds?

2023-12-27 Thread Richard Turner
Once upon a time, there was an app that used the camera to try and get your
heart rate from holding your finger on the camera lens.

It was not very good.

He should search the app store for heart rate and see what comes up, but
nothing on the phone will do that without an external device or app.

VoiceOver Fails on iPhone 15 Pro

2023-12-27 Thread Richard
If anyone has a solution to what I describe below, I will appreciate your help.

This evening VoiceOver stopped speaking on my iPhone 15 Pro.

* I hear the VoiceOver clicks and other sounds when I swipe up to
activate the phone, but no speech.
* I hear the VoiceOver clicks and other sounds when I swipe left and
right, but no speech.
* I’ve turned the volume up high; the VoiceOver sounds get louder, but no
speech.
* A three finger double tap does not bring up speech as it should.
* I have attempted to use the voice command, “Siri, turn speech on,” or
“Siri, turn speech off.” Neither will voice.
* I have checked for Bluetooth devices that might be connected, but all
are turned off. Also, if this were a Bluetooth conflict, I don’t think I would
be hearing the VoiceOver sounds.

Thanks very much.

RE: VoiceOver Fails on iPhone 15 Pro

2023-12-27 Thread M. Taylor
Richard,

If you see well enough to disable the Bluetooth radio, on your 15, then you
should be good to power down the device.

After restarting the 15, if you do not hear VO, make certain that both the
Bluetooth and the WiFi radios are disabled.

Next, first disable and then enable VO.

Next, with a pair of wired ear pods attached, try that volume up button, again.

It sounds to me as though your phone is connected to CarPlay or some kind of
external audio device.

Let us know how it goes.

  * I have checked for Bluetooth devices that might be connected, but all are
turned off. Also, if this were a Bluetooth conflict, I don’t think I would be
hearing the VoiceOver sounds.

Thanks very much.
