Some General Updated Info from Mark About Workout App, etc.

2024-06-19 Thread VIPhone
Hello Everyone, You know, each day I plan on posting to the list my
various discoveries about my recent use of my Apple product but, somehow,
time just slips away. It’s almost midnight so I’m just going to list a
couple of things:

1.
Because of various sundry reasons, I will be posting to the list from the
main group address, for a while.

2.
Since using my new walking pad, I have started using the native Apple Watch
Workout app. I got a kick out of the Apple Fitness Plus sessions, at
first, and I may use them, from time-to-time but I find that I am not
particularly fond of listening to some trainer talking and talking and
talking while I exercise. I prefer my own playlists and or Apple Music
Stations.

3.
I have been diving into the shortcuts app as it provides a great deal of
functionality to my workout sessions. For example, I have created a
shortcut, that I can run from a watch face complication that (1) sets the
volume on my Apple Watch for playback on my Bluetooth headset, (2) changes
the active watch face to what I want to explore during a workout, (3)
starts a custom workout such as Indoor walking with a specific goal, and
(4) starts any Apple Music app playlists or station. I have created
another shortcut that, at the end of any workout session, returns all of my
various settings to their original parameters that existed before the
workout session.

4.
On a different note, I discovered that one can create shortcuts that can be
activated directly from the home screen that will allow one to directly
play any station / playlist on Apple Music. As an example, If I want to
play the the Apple Music 1970s love songs station, I only need to doubletap
an icon on my home screen and the station immediately begins playing. The
Music app does not appear. This can be done with any playlist / station,
public or custom, in Apple Music. It’s really quite impressive given that
one cannot save an Apple Music Station to one’s library. Without getting
too deep into this, I have also created one shortcut that, when activated,
simply displays a menu of whatever stations I have selected and I can
select from that menu.

5.
While I am a huge fan of Amazon Music, I am discovering that Apple Music
offers a great deal when one wants to walk only in the Apple Orchard.

I have so much more to share about my recent discoveries but the more I
type, at present, the more typos I am making so I will stop here, for now.

I hope you are all doing well.

Mark

RE: What's Up With GMail's Spam Filtering?

2024-06-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don't use Gmail much, but I find they filter out a lot of messages which
shouldn't be. We have the ability to send sales receipts to a customer from our
point of sale solution, but whenever a customer has a Gmail address I usually
warn them that it is quite likely they may have to look for their receipt in
their junk mail/spam mailbox and more often than not when I send just normal
email and I later hear from the customer they didn't get it, it ended up in
their Gmail junk mail box. I am not saying Outlook is perfect here, but it is
definitely quite rare this happens and then usually pressing Shift + F10 on the
message, arrowing to "Junk" and selecting "This is not junk" does the trick, it
moves the message back to the Inbox and at the same time adds the email address
to the safe senders list. Of course this has to be done on a computer using
Outlook or on the new Outlook app as there is no such option in the Mail app of
the iPhone.

Good to know, I’m not the only one having this issue and it’s weird because I’m
using the native mail app on the iPhone can’t see spam mail at all folder
regarding the folder until I go on the website for Gmail on the chrome browser
on my laptop since I use Windows 11, that’s what I do and then I look and see
some of these Threads that or supposed to go to my inbox directly as well in
the spam so it’s not just you having this issue I think it’s very interesting.
Do not know a solution other than two unmark from spam.

Oh, I addressed this on the wrong list.

Yes, Richard had a great idea. I moved Pitch from 50 to 70%, and I can hear
better, when on phone conversation.

Ultimately, though, if that doesn't work, the too-loudness problem is probably
third-party at the other end of the phone line.

You can always send your iPhone 15 Pro to me, I assure you I would use it
as my daily iPhone 🤣

I don't even know what to do with 2 iPhones, never saw a reason why I
should have 2 devices, I once did that and kept an older iPhone and after a
few weeks I decided there really was no point since I never used it anyways.

Of course, grin, you're right. After all, I could just go and buy myself a
$500 Walmart E gift card, but where is the fun in that. I can assure you,
though, that I always put my designated amount into my money market/savings
account each month before doing something impractical like this. My sighted
sister likes to joke that I always manage to keep her in iPhones. And in
fact, just as I kind of suspected, she very quickly made that iPhone 14 Plus
with its much bigger screen her daily iPhone, and she relegated the iPhone
13 Mini that I gave her last year to a backup iPhone. She is also giving me
back the iPhone 11 I gave her two or three years ago, and I'm going to trade
that in at Apple for an Apple E gift card for myself.

As for myself, believe it or not, I'm currently using as my daily iPhones
a 12 Mini and a 13 Mini. I had originally planned to start using my 15 Pro
and trade in my own 13 Mini for an E gift card with Apple when the battery
Reached 80%, and it's now at 82%. I had also planned to trade in my iPhone
12 Mini, where its battery is also at 82%, for an iPhone 15 when its battery
reached 80%. But now with the new upgrades coming this fall only being on
the iPhone 15 Pro models, I'm just not sure what I'm going to do. And of
course, grin, there's always the Walmart gift card promotion to think about
around this coming Thanksgiving.

Well, here I am at this late date replying to my own message again, and

Anyway, as I mentioned below in an earlier message, one of the iPhones I
purchased on the installment agreement was a 14 Plus. And the more I thought
about it over the few months while I was paying on the installment
agreement, I decided that since I had already gotten what I really wanted,
meaning the $500 Walmart E-gift card, that I would just give the 14 Plus to
my sister and think about getting myself another smaller iPhone. Thus, since
I had kept the installment agreement more than twice as long as the two
months I was required to keep it, and since the AT&T phone unlock policy
said in part: "Paid off early: The wireless number assigned to the device
must be active for at least 60 days," I thought I could just simply pay off
the installment agreement, wait for that payment to post, and then request
that AT&T unlock the phone.

Well, was I ever wrong! And to think I had already given my sister the
phone! For, when I went to the AT&T unlock portal and gave the phone IMEI
and the rest of my information, I was told that they couldn't unlock the
phone, saying something like they didn't recognize the IMEI as being on
their network. And seeing as the 14 Plus was still in its unsealed box when
I gave it to my sister, I guess that makes sense, even if I did kind of
assume that the IMEI would've already been associated with AT&T because of
the installment agreement for that 14 Plus that I had with them.

Now I didn't know what to do as I certainly didn't want to ask my sister
for the phone back and tell her that I would be happy to give it back to her
to use on Verizon after I had activated it and used it myself on AT&T for a
couple of months. So I finally decided to look around on the web and see
what I could find about getting the phone unlocked either by AT&T or a third
party. And while I was doing that, I thought to use one or two

You can always send your iPhone 15 Pro to me, I assure you I would use it as my
daily iPhone 🤣
I don't even know what to do with 2 iPhones, never saw a reason why I should
have 2 devices, I once did that and kept an older iPhone and after a few weeks
I decided there really was no point since I never used it anyways.

Of course, grin, you're right. After all, I could just go and buy myself a $500
Walmart E gift card, but where is the fun in that. I can assure you, though,
that I always put my designated amount into my money market/savings account
each month before doing something impractical like this. My sighted sister
likes to joke that I always manage to keep her in iPhones. And in fact, just as
I kind of suspected, she very quickly made that iPhone 14 Plus with its much
bigger screen her daily iPhone, and she relegated the iPhone 13 Mini that I
gave her last year to a backup iPhone. She is also giving me back the iPhone 11
I gave her two or three years ago, and I'm going to trade that in at Apple for
an Apple E gift card for myself.

As for myself, believe it or not, I'm currently using as my daily iPhones a 12
Mini and a 13 Mini. I had originally planned to start using my 15 Pro and trade
in my own 13 Mini for an E gift card with Apple when the battery Reached 80%,
and it's now at 82%. I had also planned to trade in my iPhone 12 Mini, where
its battery is also at 82%, for an iPhone 15 when its battery reached 80%. But
now with the new upgrades coming this fall only being on the iPhone 15 Pro
models, I'm just not sure what I'm going to do. And of course, grin, there's
always the Walmart gift card promotion to think about around this coming
Thanksgiving.

Well, here I am at this late date replying to my own message again, and I'm
replying on the web since I no longer have the original email I sent, so who
knows how it will turn out. But I learned some things that I didn't realize
along the way, so I figured I would just, hopefully, finally complete this
journey with the phones from Walmart and pass along my experience as well.

Anyway, as I mentioned below in an earlier message, one of the iPhones I

while I was doing that, I thought to use one or two of the IMEI check sites to
see if they would confirm for me that the phone was indeed locked to AT&T.

When I ran a check on the IMEI, it told me, among other things: "Carrier: US
Reseller Flex Policy
Next Tether Policy: 4000."
And when I researched that further, it sure looked like to me that it was
saying that the phone was shipped to me from Walmart as unlocked, but it was

First, I would try signing in using the watch app on your iphone.
  Open Watch App.
  Swipe and double tap General.
Swipe and double tap on Apple ID.
You should be able to sign in there.
Afterwards, restart Apple watch. This should sync with your watch.

There is also a flick type keyboard for the Apple Watch. It is still not
the easiest thing to use since the screen is so small, but you can also
download that app to your watch to use in the future.

  Hope this helps.
